I am currently rehabbing from an ACL replacement and the sessions I've done with Chuck have skyrocketed my mobility and healing. Prior to obtaining the go ahead from Kaiser to partake in these body work sessions my progress was incredibly slow and my range of motion and meeting mobility goals in PT were not happening in a timely manner. I first saw Chuck right before the pandemic for shoulder and neck tightness. At my first visit, Chuck was very attentive as I shared my pain points, my habits, and what I am hoping to resolve. He was very knowledgeable in human anatomy and offered helpful advice on what I can do at home to help loosen my shoulder stiffness. He was also very versatile and incorporated different therapies and techniques such as gua sha and cupping in addition to massage techniques to help me get the best relief. Although I wasn't able to see him consistently for care during the pandemic, he always does what he can to help loosen all the knots and the tightness I've accumulated in my shoulders in between visits. Even without the other therapies, the massages itself are amazing! Chuck always does a great job loosening the knots with just the right amount of pressure. In my most recent visit, I had a nagging knot/pinch in my shoulder blade for several months that I just could not get rid of and one visit with Chuck really helped loosen the area so much and gave me pretty much an immediate relief! I've been seeing Chuck for the last couple of months and have had a total of 3 sessions so far. I've had a really great experience so far and each session has helped bring relief to my tension points/problem areas. I appreciate Chuck's holistic view to his work (asking about your history to understand what's really going on, rather than just attacking the pain/symptoms) and his knowledge of the body/muscle/tissue/etc. He really knows how to identify the areas that need work and will ask questions/give instructions along the way to ensure you're feeling comfortable. My goals with massage therapy are to find general physical comfort and to destress, but also to increase mobility in my problem areas. So I walked into Chuck's office with some right shoulder pain that drove up to my neck. Also back of the neck pain, and upper back pain in my traps. My guess, all the stress I've been under mixed with physical exercise. I honestly had no idea what to expect other than a non traditional massage. After an introduction discussion with Chuck, he was ready to get started. Focus point; right shoulder and then the pain that crawled up to my neck. The massage was great and in some spots there was tenderness. I expected some good pain. During the course of the massage I was asked to take deep breaths and focus on my breathing. I absolutely loved this!!!! I meditate at home and understand the importance of good breath work and working it through your body. What I didn't realize is that I was breathing in while tensing my neck muscles, instead of breathing in from my stomach. That small focus change was huge for me! Thanks for that Chuck! After our first session I could feel the tension melting off from my neck as the pain went from striking hot to a low dull pain. My muscles were more relaxed and I did feel good and loose. My shoulder was a little sore but a day later the pain weakened. Fantastic! Our second session only got better and by the third I was totally on point. My breathing felt good, and all my tension was gone. My muscles were less resistant and more trusting of Chuck's great work. Chuck always checked in with me to make sure pressure was ok and what was comfortable. The massage was very intuitive. He checked muscle movement and was constantly assessing the problem areas. I had the privilege of receiving a 1 hour massage with Chuck today. Chuck has a very healing, calm, grounded energy which elevates the healing experience. He is attentive and thoughtful, always considerate of how I was feeling and the pressure of the massage was always perfect, not light or too painful. To my surprise it WASN'T a simple and sad Swedish massage or painful out of rhythm Chinese foot spa massage, Chuck REALLY KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING. I was referred to Chuck by my cousin, who is an acupuncturist at Numo Acupuncture. I've carried tension in my mid back for a while now from working on a desk for extended periods. Most recently at the squat rack, I aggravated what was initially just an uncomfortable tension, into some pain. That's when I considered seeking out massage therapy work. Chuck was very personable and knowledgeable. He had me describe my pain and other specifics of the injury, which helped in focusing on the areas I needed the most work on. Very easy going guy and comfortable to talk to. The session itself consisted of massage creme, deep pressure combined with instructions on breathing. I found that to be a very refreshing experience in contrast to other massage places I've been to. He also used the theragun, which helped quite a bit. The clinic location is conveniently located down the street from Santana Row. The inside of the clinic was very clean and well maintained. My only issue with it being on the third floor, and sort of hard to find. But Chuck had sent me specific directions, and I was able to find the clinic. Plenty of parking as the building has its own private lot. There is also a Chiropractor that works here, which I am actually looking forward to trying in the near future. Overall, I left the massage feeling great and I feel like I can work out again properly. If there was anything to gripe about, it's that the one hour session extended a bit longer than I expected. I think he just wanted to make sure his work was effective since it was the first time I was seeing him, but it would have been nice to know beforehand so I didn't run into traffic. I definitely recommend this type of massage work to anybody who works long hours on a desk, and works out regularly. read more

Chuck is awesome! I always thought you had to feel a bit beat up to get the results from a deep tissue massage. I was wrong!! Chuck has an amazing blend of techniques and ability to listen to your body, that allow him to effectively get in there deep, while not causing you to cringe, or feel beat up the next day. My husband and I have seen great results after working with him. My husband's shoulders are chronically tight, rolled forward, achy, and crack and pop a lot when lifting weights. After just two sessions, his shoulder range of motion is better, soreness is drastically decreased and they don't make all sorts of noise while lifting weights. Chuck also noticed that after my husband's second session, his shoulders laid more evenly on the table, whereas the right one originally popped up off the table. See the pic! Chuck is a massage magician! I first saw him for upper back pain from a gym injury. He was able to pin point the issue and work out the muscle to speed up the healing as well as relieve the pain. I then had a lower back injury that connected down to my knee. It was preventing me from doing my squats and general leg day work outs! We started a once a week regiment for 3 weeks and by the end of it I am able to squat and dead lift my normal numbers again. To be able to squat and dead lift without pain and worry really made me excited and helped with my workouts. Chuck really listens and is able to use a variety of techniques such as cupping and gua sha and many others to really help the blood flow as well as treat the problem spots.
