I really love this whole house fan. Upon the inspection in the attic, they found out that we needed to have more vents(4 of them). They provided us the contact information for a great roofer and everything went very smooth.They did not leave any dust even though they had to cut the drywall from the ceiling. IHES Quiet Cool was a game changer for us. Reduces our Air Conditioning bill and gets us fresh air at the same time. The install went great. The guys were knowledgeable and worked fast. It makes a little more noise than we expected, but similar to a dish washer in the room. So we need to crank up the TV at night a little. Open up the windows in the morning to cool the house and attic. Use our Air conditioner to keep us cool if necessary during the day. Then Air off at around 7PM. Turn on the fan, open a window and the let the outside air cool your house and Attic. I think if you can cool your attic that is the trick here. Save your money! My electric bill tripled after I installed this fan and it didn't even cool my house. They insisted that it had nothing to do with the fan but when I stopped using it my electric bill magically dropped again. I too was told AFTER they installed the fan that I do not have adequate ventilation in my attic and that their contractor could install some more venting. The cost was outrageous (roughly $2,000 really!?) and therefore I have not had it done. In addition, the customer service is horrible. 9 months later I am still awaiting my cash referral bonus. I've called several times but have given up at this point as if I do get through I am told I am on the list but it goes no where. I should have saved the money and put it towards installing central air. At least running it would actually cool my house and I could justify the higher electric bill. This is the worst investment I have made to my home. I wish I never installed it. read more

I was in the market for a gable fan. Quietcool caught my eye because their AFG-SMT 3.0 fan is brushless and 10 speed. I bought the fan off Amazon for $269.00. I had an electrician run a line with outlet to the attic near the gable vent. He also installed the fan on the gable. The fan turned on and seemed to operate normally when initially plugged in. The fan turned off after about 60 seconds. About 3 weeks later, after multiple 100+ degree days, the fan never turned on again. I first called the electrician to check it out. The plug was fine and getting 110v with plenty of current etc, the problem wasn't the power. I even put a hair dryer to the thermostat (built into the motor) for about 45 seconds and it wouldn't kick on. I called Quietcool and spoke to their customer service. Their customer service was nothing short of incredible. First off, the initial phone call wasn't bogged down with a bunch of recorded menus and I was able to speak with a rep quick (this was the case EVERY time I called). I spoke with the rep and he truly wanted to help me with my situation. Almost without question he set up a replacement motor to be shipped to my home and a INCLUDED shipping return label for the original motor. Nice. I received the motor and installed it. Unfortunately the motor acted the same way. I plugged it into a different outlet and it kicked on for about 60 seconds. After the fan turned off I was not able to get it to turn on again. I used the same method of heating the thermostat with a hairdryer. I called Quietcool again and spoke with a different rep. The second rep was also extremely helpful. He looked at my situation and said he was going to send a contracted company (Innovative Home Energy Solutions (IHES)) out to check the fan. Quietcool put me in contact with Scott @ IHES. They were also going to bring a new fan in box in case he wasn't able to get the original fan to work. The IHES installers arrived a couple days later and were also a little baffled why the fan wouldn't kick on, even after replacing the motor. So they installed their fan they had brought (same model). It started and seemed to work fine. The new fan DID kick on later and seemed to operate normally. To this day I still don't know what the problem was with the original two motors but the problem was now solved. Scott was extremely helpful and went out of his way to answer calls and texts. He also truly wanted to help. Scott was in contact with Quietcool and worked directly with them to work on a solution with my problem. This was all done with ONLY my original $269.00 investment on Amazon. Quietcool and Innovative Home Energy Solutions commitment to customer service was beyond what you would expect. He was able to get a crew out to install within a few days (talked Monday, installed Friday). Pierce and Junior showed up on Friday and the fan was installed quickly and very professionally. Had a Whole Fan installed they got there right on time and was done quick the guys were very polite cleaned up after the job was done. And it is a great investment. They deserved 5 stars!! The only problem i had is trying to get a call back from IHES before the job and after, i called several time to verify my appointment took 4 calls, then after the job i never got a receipt i figure since its all done on a Ipod they would email me one ???
