The space is huge, but changing rooms are tiny (see pic) and you cannot shower here because water is a spray/misty type and it shoots out so common area gets wet and become hazardous. All said, I'm glad I found this pool and won't have to drive to Rosemead Aquatics for my weekend swims. I'll come back and will just put on my clothes over wet swimsuits, cover my car seat with a tarp, and just drive home!

Now personally I didn't experience anything overly negative that I could only give three stars, but it also didn't think it was perfect either. So, here's my four star review breakdown: Online Registration: ~ I was a last minute entry, two days prior to the day of the event, but I easily found all the information I needed. ~ General rules, cost, parking info, found the 10k course map, loved the 7am start time. ~ Entry fees (not including registration fees): 5k - $47 10k - $57, kinda pricey but I chose to run the extra miles. ~ Registration complete! Packet Pickup: ~ Friday March 4th at Road Runner Sports in Laguna Hills. Really? All the way out there? Pass. What about the LA County folks? I was in Newport Beach that day and was still about 13 miles away from the place. Didn't even bother picking up from this location. ~ Saturday March 5th at Buena Park Mall. Perfect! Not too busy two hours after the booths opened up at 11am. Easy to navigate. Looked up my racing bib number. Sign the waiver. Grabbed my t-shirt. I was on my way! ~ Not very many vendors, but I didn't really care about it anyways. Only wish they had at least a GU vendor. ~ The volunteers there were helpful. No issues. ~ And knowing it was going to rain, I didn't like the timing chip being held by a couple of twist-ties. Tacky in my opinion. ~ Organized? I thought it was. Race Day Sunday: ~ It was raining heavily at 5:45am, but it calmly slowed and stopped as the time inched closer and closer to 7am. Excellent! ~ Parking at Knott's went well. Plenty of signs, and parking attendants guiding us from space to space. Only idiot drivers will be idiots drivers when they think they can find a better spot. ~ At the corral, there were volunteers that only allowed you into your assigned corral. Something I don't normally see, as I'm use to half marathons and the corrals aren't usually monitored. This would be due to the high volume of cattle, (aHem) I mean attendees. ~ Although it was a 7am start time, it just seemed like forever for corral 7's to start running. I wanted to leave at exactly 7, not 7:15. Oh well, not a big deal. Volunteers: ~ Again, helpful. Encouraging and enthusiastic! Plenty of them at the water stations, and I didn't really see a lot of them messing around. ~ Plenty of security as well from the Buena Park Police. Thank you! 10k Course itself: ~ Loved the first 3 miles through the park obviously! Reminiscing about the days when I once worked here. I really enjoyed seeing the things that have changed, as well as the things that remained the same. ~ It's pretty much a flat run throughout. The elevation had a few dips, but that's about it. No major level change. ~ The last 3.2 miles, booooring! I mean, it's Buena Park. I was once a local here and also kicked it at Buena Park Mall when I was younger, so bleh! And to run halfway around it was simply a breeze. ~ Hustled to the finish. Grabbed my cool medal. Was given a Desani to rehydrate. Ate half a banana. Didn't care about the pie. Mission complete! ~ Organized? Yes, I felt it was. ~ Would I run it again? Eh, maybe. It IS a good run for beginners. Or if you're coming back from an injury like was.

This is a fun one! I'm not a big Knott's Berry Farm fan but running through their park and Soak city is just a bunch of fun. This is most definitely a family friendly event (my son always enjoys himself) and the crowd is always great. It's a quick run and the pay off is hands down, my all time favorite. Boysenberry Pie!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, please! What stood out this year were the volunteers and their energy. Most of them were so well spirited that it really gave us runners that extra boost of confidence that anyone needs after Springing Forward and waking up what feels to be an hour early to drive nearly 40 miles to run a 5k on a Sunday morning :) Parking is always a bit congested, some traffic control in the early hours could prove beneficial. How I managed to place in my age division for a 2nd time is a mystery to me because I felt my run had tons of room for improvement especially after just rehabbing from an injury but it's always fun to place. It also means you're stuck waiting around another hour plus for the awards presentation so I see highs and lows to placing and not, Not - I get to leave immediately - placing you get to wait around. Maybe a VIP area for those who placed to sip on some coffee and have a little light brekke wouldn't be a terrible idea ;) and those in attendance with them :) Another person on our team also placed, so that always makes it more exciting! The bibs and medals are both really cute and the t-shirts make excellent sleep shirts once washed a dried a couple times to make them a bit softer. All in all this is a fun run! It's one I'll support again in the future and the Kids of Speech and Language Development Center

Gear was top notch, guides Sandra and Summer were super informed, and the repels were fun! The adventure started with a hike, and 6 repels later we were smiling ear to ear and wishing there was another 100 ft waterfall to repel. Really can't believe we were so lucky to find this trip which was easy to schedule and go on. Our lives were literally in their hands and I couldn't have felt safer!

A huge shoutout to the incredible instructors. Alex led the hike with confidence and kept everyone's spirits high. Henry made sure the entire group stayed together, accounted for, and felt supported the whole way. Dylan got to the bridge ahead of everyone to have everything set up and ready, making the whole experience run smoothly. All three had amazing attitudes and went above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable, safe, and excited. The hike itself was beautiful, with incredible streams and breathtaking views. It was a bit challenging because of the fast pace, but if you take your time and start early in the morning, it's absolutely worth it. The jump was unforgettable, but what really made this experience special was the team. Their professionalism, encouragement, and positive energy turned something intimidating into one of the most exciting and inspiring things I've ever done. I can't wait to come back and do it again especially because of how fantastic these instructors were. Highly recommend!

XC riders and MTB riders, this is your course. I was the biker in this race. The hills aren't like…read morethe monstrous San Jose first mile, but will give you a leg up again the other riders and hopefully your running partner. You'd definitely need to put in some running time before hitting this race if you want to do well. You can't rely too much on your mountain biker friend, he still needs to wait for you to get the bike back to him. Or the other way around if you are the mountain biker, friend. This race also had a starting hill, but not right away and not for a whole mile. After the first 200 meters or so, the next 1/2 mile was a climb, then a short steep descent that winds you down to the beach. Get off your bike at the sand since you'll need to carry it around a fence that extends down into the water. Hop back on and ride to the 1st obstacle, which was an over-under climb. Leg two was a gradual climb with another short but not so steep descent to obstacle 2, a wall climb. Leg three was a long climb to probably the highest point of the race, to the balance beam. But if you're a good climber on the bike, do your passing at this point. It's wide enough and most of the runners/bikers are slowing down here...but maybe so is your partner, So don't go too fast or else you'll have to wait after the next leg for him anyways. Leg 4 is the best leg..the easy downhill that takes you back out onto the paved road. Hit 30+ mph here if you can...yeah, you can. Take a nap after completing the big inflatable slide, since your partner hasn't arrived with the bike yet. Then ride the last leg with caution. This part is narrow with a short steep climb, and depending on your line, you might have to pop over roots and rocks on your way up. Then there's the final descent that's a single track with a steep and tight corner. The mud pit...always muddy, always fun. So, muddy buddy folks, Dallas in 08 huh? What about my suggestions about holding it in Tahoe, or Marin? Marin would be great. Think about it. I'll be the first to sign up...with or without a buddy.

I'm all for encouraging teens to get into endurance sports, but there were a TON of them out there. 2) Aid stations just had water. One had watered down Gatorade, but it was just that single station. NO gels or gummies were offered at any of the aid stations. I've never run a half or full marathon with on-course nutrition this bad. 3) Food at the finish line was very limited - water, a few dry snacks. No electrolyte drinks, no fruit. Parking: fairly easy as it was at the Fairplex. Plentiful amount of parking and organized. $10…read morefor both Sat and Sun. It's nice if you do both the 5K on Sat and half marathon on Sunday. Packet pickup: either on Sat or Sun morning before the race. It was super helpful that I could pick up my shirt and bib the morning before the race since I had to work on Sat! Course: pretty hilly! If you are the type of runner who feeds on loud music and crazy spectators cheering you on, this race is NOT for you. The course is very quiet, serene, and only had one small two person live band. Since the course runs through Bonelli Park and some paths near Raging Waters, there weren't a lot of spectators. Fuel stations: water and Gatorade stations were maybe every two miles. I didn't like how they diluted the Gatorade. I want to taste Gatorade, not lemon water! The water also had a weird taste. They had a Cliff GU station around Mile 9. PRIZE: The half marathon shirt was pretty nice and comfy. I've worn it several times since the race to the gym! The medal is sparkly, heavy, and pretty =D Price: I paid $76 (processing fee included) during early bird registration. The race was in December and I registered in February. Verdict: I think there are better races that offer a nicer route for the price. I found the course to be a bit boring, especially since there aren't that many spectators.

Our 4 year old son had his first swim class at Route 66 Aquatics in West Covina. He loved it so…read moremuch he talked about it the whole night after. There was multiple instructors and lifeguards monitoring the children at all times. All the instructors were super fun and patient with the little ones. After one class I feel our son learned a whole lot. Already looking into signing him up for his next set of lessons. This is a beautiful facility and loved watching our son learn and interact with the instructor. I was worried that our son would not pick up a whole lot since there was so many kids, however the instructors split up the class and spent a good amount of time with each kid. Great program that West Covina offers. I would highly recommend to anyone that is considering. Prior to this swim class I signed our son up elsewhere, and our son did not learn anything and the instructor at the time had zero patience and had terrible social skills. This location was complete opposite.

This club is affiliated with USA Water Polo and the owner is an experienced college water polo coach. It's priced much cheaper than any other swim or polo clubs in the area!! Oh, and the pool is heated!!! Go check it yourself, you'll see this is a great way for your kiddos to get out some energy and some fun!!
