Met a friend at Inside Park at St Bart's Terrace for drinks last night. Though it was a wee bit nippy, the outdoor tented atmosphere is beautiful, and I can only imagine how packed it must get during the summer. To be quite honest, I'm not sure how I missed this place in the past - situated on Park Ave in the courtyard of a church, it can't help but stand out. I also literally missed it yesterday because I kept walking west on 50th right past the bar until I reached Rockefeller Center and had to turn around. But I digress. Though I didn't eat during my short stint here, the food that the people at my neighboring tables ordered looked and smelled heavenly. I CAN vouch for their drinks, however. Both the dirty and espresso martinis were well-executed... okay, so I didn't try the espresso one myself, but my friend who ordered it and gets espresso martinis everywhere she goes gave it two very enthusiastic thumbs up. The service was also friendly and prompt. When we left, at least three members of the staff in addition our waiter thanked us and wished us a good evening (but they were also all men... hmmm). I will definitely return when it's warmer out... it's a perfect spot for HH with some friends and/or coworkers. Lovely place to grab a bite outside on the terrace during the summer. their best dishes are their salads, always fresh, very healthy, fairly small! Get there early, otherwise the rest of midtown turn up and bag all the seats! read more

Want a truly unique dining/drinking experience in Manhattan? Consider going to Park Avenue at 50th Street where the terrace at St. Bartholomew's Church houses an open-air restaurant bar. On one side is the Byzantine style church and across the street is the immense Waldorf Astoria Hotel. There is no other space like this in midtown. It almost feels surreal, the church evoking a sense of being in Venice where it seems every piazza has a church with adjacent restaurants, and the towering hotel embodying the best of early 20th Century New York architecture. That you can sit here taking all this in, while enjoying a limited but very well prepared number of dining options and good cocktails is a reason to give Inside Park a try. Start with their mixed olives, pass on the bread (it's healthier to save your carbs for the drinks). I love their huge crab cakes on succotash and their salmon. The steaks are good as well. Actually, everything I've had I've enjoyed. Prices are reasonable by midtown standards for both food and drink. The bar area is covered by a tent, so you can imbibe even if it rains. read more

Great spot for an outdoor meal. I stopped in today during my lunch hour solo and had the Cobb Salad with chicken and a glass of wine at the bar. I was able to sit right down on a beautiful Wednesday lunchtime hour. It almost seemed like I was in Europe catching a summer breeze and hearing the church bells toll. The food was delicious and nice pours on the wine, and it had great ambiance and service. I totally enjoyed it. Look forward to getting back. Highly recommended. read more

I was in between three and four stars for the Park at St Bart's... It's a good crowd for a few drinks after work. Unfortunately, there are no happy hour prices, and it gets quite crowded although there was plenty of room to move around. The bar is large, and it was not hard at all to get a drink. The only downside was that te music was so loud I was basically yelling to talk to my co workers, but the dj was not bad. The crowd seems to be your typical midtown corporate people, I probably will be back for another happy hour sometime this summer since the outdoor location is nice. There are lots of tables to sit at and the food looked decent but maybe ill have more info on that during my next review. read more

Haven't really had the food here, but I really enjoy happy hours out here. The bar itself is very spacious and is located right outside of St Bart's church. Happy hour deals are pretty good here. We usually end up getting a bucket of beers or sipping on a pitcher of Sangria. The white sangria is pretty delicious, I highly recommend it. What I really dislike is the service. It takes forever to get a drink when you're sitting down at a table or on the couches. If you're not at the bar waving your arm at the bartenders, they won't acknowledge you at all. The service is really why we don't come here more often. Might be back again, not sure. Summer is pretty much done by now. Maybe if it's a nice day and we're craving a drink, but otherwise, we're going to look for another place. read more

A great "grass fed" burger and wine list makes this a near perfect lunch spot on any nice day in Manhattan.

All I have to say is wow. Me and 3 of my girlfriends went there to have coffee and dessert. The hostess said "Oh wait one second I need to ask my supervisor", she proceeded to send us to the back corner on the right side away from the bar where all the electrical outlets were and there were no other people around. Despite the 20 tables that was available for service in the front of the place. I have been there several times in the past but perhaps it was because I wasn't with my friends in suits we had such an issue... read more

The food was excellent! I had a spinach salad with walnuts and a balsamic vinegarette dressing. I added chicken to it for a little more protein. My friend had the Inside Park burger and it was very good as well! The pricing is reasonable for NYC. I would definitely go again ! read more

The drinking glasses looked like they were about 50 years old and dirty, and the lunch item (fish tacos) was bland, tasteless and deep fried with lots of breading. Coke was flat. But the homemade potato chips were excellent. Lunch salads looked skimpy. Service was good. read more

I was so disappointed! We roll into NYC for the very first time, check into the Waldorf Astoria and we are desperate to find a quick bite to eat for lunch as it was already 2:00 p.m. We were seated right away and immediately we had to swap out two water glasses, two plates, and a fork as they were dirty, greasy, and just did not seem to have been cleaned at all. We constantly were waiting for our server who really seemed to be more interested in doing anything else but his job and the $26 spinach salad with chicken was a handful of undressed spinach and a very overcooked, dry, tasteless chicken crumbles. I have heard about how many great dining establishments were in NYC and I have to tell you that the best places we came across on our trip were dives and the ones like this place charged way too much for horrible food and lackluster service. I came here for brunch on Sunday and was not particularly impressed with the beyond slow service. I'm giving them 3 stars because the food was good. I ordered the cheeseburger and my friend had the smoked turkey sandwich. I really liked my burger and the fries were also very good, but I loved my friend's sandwich. I stole half of her food and if I return to this place will order this sandwich. What was lacking was the service, they were not that busy yet our waiter took forever to bring us our drinks. We asked him for a plastic cup and he took so long that my friend just walked over to the bar and got it herself. They did not refill our water glasses at any point. Also, once our food was brought over our waiter never even came by to ask us if the food was ok. Our waiter seem to be too busy chatting instead of doing his job. Went to Inside Park with a bunch of co-workers for an after-work birthday night- we loved this place! Ambiance is great for a summer evening, and the food is good (try the thai calamari). But be warned, this place gets packed in the hotter days. read more

My daughter and I ate here this summer, on a warm summer evening. We thought it was quite a find. The food was good (not quite haute cuisine, but well prepared). The service was nice. The Dj was great! And it was a really interesting venue. I will certainly go back next time I am in NYC. read more

I had always passed this place but never ventured in. The setting: The outside patio and bar is a lovely setting for lunch, dinner, and drinks in warmer weather. The food: The bread basket was awful (bread felt stale and was wrapped in a STAINED napkin - I can't believe the server missed this). However, I loved the chicken pie - made to perfection with a huge, flaky crust and a not too creamy filling. One of the best I've had in the city. The accompanying salad was really delicious as well (lettuce / pear / dried cherries / frisee). The atmosphere is nice but the food is mediocre. Had the wild mushroom pizzette and it was blah. A baked crunchy crust with mushrooms, some red onions and a tasteless white sauce. Nothing worth talking about. My companion had the beet salad and it was a shame to call that a salad. Some greens and a few pieces of beets. read more

Dined here on expense account with clients 8-3-09. Complete disappointment. Bad service, so-so food and expensive prices for what the food was. Outdoor terrace area is ok for drinks to sit outside in great weather as there is Loud music and no ambience. When I tell you I had to literally get up from the table and go get the waiter to pay attention to us twice..... I am not kidding. He said 2 waiters called in sick but it was in no way the restaurant I expected, especially for the prices. Friend had dinner in the church in winter and liked it but the experience outside last night was awful. Inside didn't seem open. read more

Went here for a party one Saturday night. It wasn't anything amazing. Space was large inside with a stage for performances. The drink prices were a bit overpriced for what was actually offered. I'm not overly impressed, but again I didn't dine here and I'm not overly motivated to do so. read more

It was amazing to kick off the start of the summer season going out to a great outdoor space; however, you would think that warmer weather would mean increased staff. I have always seen this facility super packed and to see that there were only 2 bartenders and one waitress servicing the tables was frustrating! We arrived at 5:30 and didn't receive drinks until 6:10. We may not have been too upset if we didn't see that everyone else had received their drinks (even people who came minutes after us). I have no plan to come back here (Sangria didn't have a lot of alcohol in it nor did the Pear Blossom). There are so many other great places that you can enjoy being outside while enjoying great service! read more

Such a delightful lunch! We were late for our reservation due to the traffic coming into the city. They held our table and seated us right away. Someone took our drink and app order right away. Soon after they took our lunch order. Apps and drinks were prompt, followed by our lunch in perfect timing. The staff was lovely. The food was well prepared and seasoned. We had a very good experience here this week. I wanted a place to eat outside and they were able to accommodate us at the last minute. It's a lovely place and conveniently located. I had the Long Island Lobster Roll which was not a traditional lobster roll. Instead it had a lemony mayonnaise. So, if you don't think you'll like that, I wouldn't order it. The lobster was good but I wish the bun were fresher. The Cajun fries were not spicy enough to call Cajun but they were excellent plain fries. The side mini-serving of slaw like stuff was delicious. I think it might have been jicama. My lunch mate had the spinach salad with grilled shrimp. Delicious. The shrimp were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. We ordered the Pizette, which was disappointing. While the dough was good, the sauce was too sweet for my taste. I felt it needed salt, grated Parmasean or something to give it a little more flavor. I think they needed to drain the mozzarella a little better or use less sauce because the middle of the pizza with watery. I would not order that appetizer again. The ambience is nice and the service was good. I would definitely come back again because the food was good enough for this foodie. I've lunched here on several occassions. Service is attentive and I very much enjoyed the lobster mac n cheese. Careful to remove all of the bits of lobster shell, please. I would recommend it, most likely in the summer, when you are able to sit outdoors and people watch. read more

Checked out this place Saturday afternoon because a friend and I were getting massages in the area. The Shore Saturday menu barely has any vegeterian options, except for three salads and two pizzas. I know they do a more veggie friendly menu on weekdays but they couldn't offer that to me. Also, no fresh squeezed OJ. My friend and I just ordered the classic pizza and fries (i know, very healthy!). It took over 20 minutes for our simple dishes, which were decent. The pizza was really small for $14, but there was a good size of fries. The service overall was horrible - didn't refill our glasses of water until right before the check, and didn't ask if we needed anything else, etc. It's such a great outdoor area, but the service and lack of veggie options is enough to keep me away. read more

We had such a great time & delicious food at this restaurant. Went there for lunch at the terrace. You have to try their watermelon gazpacho is out of this world. I also tried their Catalonian Xato Salad - was so great, if you don't mind anchovies. My husband got their wood fire pizza - it's well-done and so flavorful. We are picky with how good restaurant can be. And we think their food are so yummy! The service is a touch slow because they were packed! No surprise... good food, many people... I've been here a few times for lunch during the week or for drinks after work. It's fine if you just want a glass of wine and maybe a pretzel. For lunch, you have to plan on being there awhile.
