I read the reviews before and was a little like ehhhh it seems mixed but let's give it a go. Well, let me tell you.... The bad reviews must just be from weirdos. This place was solid! Our server was amazing! She was so sweet, very attentive even when it was busy in the bar area. We sat down in the dining room since we're just visiting and I'm with my mom, not here to drink lol. We ordered the zucchini sticks. The portion was quite a lot, I was surprised, they serve it with a chipotle aioli. Pretty good, and it came out piping hot and very crunchy! I got the Shepherds pie also super hot and delicious! My mom got the fish and chips, she was extremely impressed the batter was light and fluffy, not great at all. The chips were hand cut, which is not something that I typically see often. (Love it!) we were a bit worried that they wouldn't have malt vinegar as it was mentioned in a few reviews but....they absolutely have malt vinegar to go on your fish and chips if you want it. 10/10 service 10/10 food 10/10 price 10/10 vibes If you're in the area, stop in, it's a solid place. read more

This is your standard Irish pub in New York City. They have a very long bar when you walk in. Couple of high boys and tables and then down about eight steps they have a small seating area. Lots of Irish memorabilia and televisions throughout. The señorita drink I had was labeled as spicy, but was more sweet. I had the cod tacos and they were OK. Very solid Irish pub with friendly staff, tucked away on a quiet street in midtown Manhattan that is rarity nowadays. I ordered the turkey burger which came prepared with a good, toasted brioche bun and toppings. There is a diverse beer menu and when seated in the dining room area, you almost feel like you're located in someone's living room. This establishment has apparently been around for decades, and continues to uphold high-quality food, service, and other accommodation. My coworker and I was looking for a place to have Margaritas and Nachos afterwork for Cinco de Mayo. Niall's had a beautiful sign outside that caught my eye $10 Margaritas. We ventured inside the pub to check out the Margaritas and Nachos. The Margaritas were pretty good so after a few we stepped it up to the Casamigos Tequila. The nachos were good - a little heavy on the cheese but still pretty decent. Since we was having a good time we had to throw some spicy wings in. I was amazed how plentiful the order was. The wings taste really good and was spicy just like we like it. The bartender was awesome, very personable and was making really good drinks. The customers were nice and everyone was talking and the older customers were telling funny jokes. It was a good experience. We were lucky last week, and it was that busy, so we headed back for some dinner. If I could give 0 stars I would, a 3 star rating minus 1 star for each time my friend and I found a bug in our drinks. Yes, 3 separate times we found a bug in our drink after returning one after the other. We ordered the Glenlivet after they did not have Macallan. No problem, until we found a bug in 3 separate drinks. This is a big sanitary red flag and was beyond gross especially after we were kind and understanding after the first couple mistakes. We tried this place based on its location. This pub was only two blocks from the Air BNB were rented. Trust me- this was a great discovery. When we first got to the tavern it was pretty loud. The crowd dissipated and the volume level ebbed. It appears to be a popular local watering hole that serves solid Irish food and bar food. When we entered we were instructed to proceed to the back of the tavern to be seated. We had six in our party so the hostess had to clean and push together two tables. We were promptly seated and waters were delivered. We ordered our food and a few cocktails. The cocktails arrived at our table quickly. They were all perfect. The food came out shortly after. The food was also perfect. Two of us ordered the Bangers and Mash. It was really good and the gravy on it did not disappoint. The fish and chips were spot on! The chicken club sandwich and Philly cheese steak sandwich were good. My daughter ordered a grilled chicken caesar wrap that she enjoyed. We all enjoyed our meal. The service was good. Our server wasn't overwhelmed with a huge section and was able to give us adequate attention. She was nice and competent. We enjoyed having her serve us. Interesting pub, their cocktail and beer selection looked fine. We stopped in for convenience for lunch one day while in town visiting. The menu isn't very big and they don't appear to be accommodating to various food allergies. On the way in I noticed that Chicken Fajitas was one of the specials, so opted to do that. I asked that they add cheese and they did (which was appreciated). My dining companion got a burger, which he said was 'meh. The bartender was our waitress and they weren't very busy. She didn't seem all that excited to see us, let alone actually wait on us. I realize we probably sat a little ways from the bar and that was a total turn off for her, but the section was open so we took advantage of being away from the bar. Again, we went for convenience so really didn't expect a lot. I'd suggest we got what we expected. Had we been there to drink, I'd almost bet we would have enjoyed our time more. Big cities have the most awesome neighborhood bars, and NYC is no exception. Niall's is on 52nd St b/t 2nd & 3rd Ave in Midtown Manhattan. We dropped by here on a Wed & Thu night, and not suprisingly, the crowd became better as the week progressed. On Wed, there weren't very many peeps, I don't recall any music, and the waitress was kinda lame. However on Thu, the place was lit. There were peeps in the aisles, some current hip hop was playing, and there were plenty of ladies having a good time. I ordered a Jameson neat, and a Guinness. The drinks were reasonably priced, and the bartender poured w/ a heavy hand. The bartender on Thu was Derya who hails fr Queens. She was super nice, bought me some shots, and she is a cutie pie. Too bad she didn't get off until 5 am. If I lived in the area, Niall's would definitely be on my rotation. We stumbled in Niall's one afternoon and it was just what we were looking for! The atmosphere is a classic NYC Irish pub but the front wall opens so you have air and feel like you're not trapped inside. We sat at the bar but there were picnic bench seats along the window that would be nice for a group. We only stayed for a few drinks and apps but I must say the Nachos Grande and Sweet Potato fries were delicious! The staff was friendly and the people in the bar seemed like regulars- definitely a homey feel. Stopped in for a burger and beer today on a rainy Sunday. We live in the neighborhood, and have lived in this general location for 10 years. I've eaten at Niall's before - in the past, decent pub, nothing super special. Today however I want to point out something that would make for good online viral fodder - I ordered a burger, asked for mayo and mustard - and was CHARGED FOR MAYO!!! Yes, 50 cents isn't much...but really?? I didn't eat my onion or pickle - do I get a discount for that? Niall - suggestion for you - if the condiment requests for a burger is so unusual, and your costs are killing you - just add 50 cents to your burger. To see a 50 cent charge for mayo on a burger just ticks me off (and I think it would others as well). The waitress did remove the charge after I complained - but damage done at that point. Not sure I'll be back - I've been to every pub/bar in a 5 block radius - always get a burger with mayo and mustard - never been charged for mayo...so congrats Niall - this is a first! read more

Pretty basic Irish pub in midtown to grab a pint during happy hour. Kind of a narrow bar area to sit at and have people constantly walk by and bump into you. Some flat screens with the game or ESPN on. Dark woodsy look, dim lighting, looks like it took a page out of the "build a generic Irish pub in NYC' handbook. The standard Irish pub beer on tap in this kind of spot - Guinness, Harp, Blue Moon, Goose Island, Killians,etc. They serve food too which seems to get decent reviews from others here. Niall's is like coming home, if home was ever a wonderful, welcoming, warm Irish pub. The bartender, who may or may not be the owner Niall's (he's a lovely Irish guy who always has a smile on his face), is fabulous. I felt like hugging him after a horrible experience at Turtle Bay around the corner. Right now the place is decorated so nicely for the holidays, it really is a warm, lovely pub. They have a great selection of beer that are well priced during happy hour. We wanted to get some food, and thought it easiest to order at the bar. Niall (i'm going to assume it was him) came over and asked if he wanted to sit down at a table instead. We thought that would be nice and he refused to let us carry our own beers over and carried it over himself and set us up in a lovely booth. The waitress was great, and suggested I get the chicken pot pie. It was the best chicken pot pie I ever had. Seriously. It was gigantic and fresh out of the oven. It was so good, I'm going to have to back regularly to indulge in this quality comfort food. My friends ordered the chicken quesadilla, which was apparently delicious (i can't eat cheese, so I couldn't try it myself) and the mini burgers were so cute. They came on tasty toasted potato buns. Overall, this place is great. Great staff, booze and food in a nice environment. There was also a nice mix of old and young in here, many working professionals but also out of towners looking for a nice place to eat and relax before retiring to their hotels. It was a cold December snowy night and a me and my friends, who are visiting NYC from Houston, needed a place to duck from the snow. As soon as we enter Niall's, the bar wasn't too pack for a week day night and our server, spoke to us with a mouth full of Irish accent English. Please note that although where I'm from, we do have our "Irish pubs" but none of them have someone who's actually from Ireland that owns it. As soon as you enter, there's a small flight of stairs take you up as the bar is slightly elevated from the ground floor. We sat in the front and we got our shares of beer and warmth while inside. Unfortunately one of my friend who was sitting more near the door gets cold whenever people open the door as they come in to get away from the snow as well. Again, we had one of the best service for a pub experience as she comes and check on us every now and then. We did get some shots of Jameson and some food there. I had the shepherd's pie and it was very good. Seriously, the place is so friendly, I thought we were back in the South instead of the usual cold shoulder NYC.
