We went for an early Restaurant Week dinner, and the restaurant was nice and quiet when we arrived. Unfortunately, it soon filled up with people at the bar, and the noise level became pretty overwhelming. Our server was extremely well-mannered and attentive, so I thought the service was great, even though the food itself was just okay. We both ordered the tuna tartare to start. It was solid, but there was really no wow factor. It tasted similar to any other tuna appetizer I've had, perfectly fine, but nothing memorable. We also both ordered the steak au poivre. The steaks were cooked well and the portions were generous, but unfortunately, they were heavily over-seasoned. Because the steak was already so salty, I couldn't really enjoy the au poivre sauce; dipping the steak into it only made it saltier. It wasn't bad enough for me to send it back, but it definitely took away from the dish. The same goes for the completely flat soda I was served. I didn't touch it, but I also couldn't be bothered to ask for another one or have it removed from the check, but our server should've asked. We ordered the cheesecake and warm chocolate torte for dessert, and I have to say, the desserts were the best part of the entire meal, which is saying a lot because I'm not really a dessert person. Overall, it was a pretty decent meal, but based on my experience, I'm not sure I'd feel the need to give this place another try. read more

Enjoyed a very nice family gathering here up on the 2nd floor. It was a private event and Splendid did a great job keeping the drinks flowing. The food was also very good - we enjoyed a small family gathering at tables all across the event space. All in all it was a very nice evening for a small family party. There was even a TV to catch a glimpse of some March Madness games that were going on. Sorry no photos! I was too busy talking and not taking pictures. On a busy Monday night during a pivotal game 3 of the Knicks in the NBA Finals, the servers seemed a bit overwhelmed. As soon as I tried to place another order, the waiter turned his back to attend to another table. The Hot Buttered Rum was a well balanced spiced cocktail with cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. The Funny Bird was a standout cocktail with Appleton rum and Goslings ginger beer. The crab cake was plated well but the taste was not memorable. The Buffalo chicken wings were small and overpriced. The roasted cauliflower steak was prepared well on a bed of toasted almonds soaked in balsamic and paprika oil. I chose this spot for Thursday Night Football because the location, atmosphere, and late kitchen hours seemed perfect for catching the second half of the game and having dinner. The space itself is beautiful, with high ceilings, great décor, and large screens positioned so you can comfortably watch the game from just about anywhere. The food was well presented although considerably overpriced, the wine was great, and I had no complaints about what we ordered. Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by the service and how a serious incident was handled. I initially waited about 15 minutes without being greeted or even offered water, and the service felt disengaged until later in the evening. More importantly, a member of a nearby group forcefully struck me in the neck just beneath my ear while gesturing behind her. When I brought it to their attention, rather than simply acknowledging what happened or apologizing, the group escalated the situation by yelling, laughing, and directing insults toward me. I requested a manager twice before he came over. To his credit, the manager was polite and attentive once involved. He spoke with the group, confirmed my account, offered to relocate me, and continued monitoring the situation afterward, which I appreciated. However, I was disappointed that ultimately I was the person who had to move, while the disruptive group remained where they were, and no meaningful action appeared to be taken beyond relocating me. I had initially offered to leave and cancel the remainder of my dinner, but after being encouraged to stay, relocate, and finish our meal, the final bill ($250+ for two girls) arrived completely unchanged. I wasn't looking for a "discount," but after an incident serious enough to require management intervention, relocation, and continued monitoring, I expected some meaningful gesture or acknowledgment from the establishment. The contrast between the manager's attentive demeanor and the complete lack of recourse at the end left me feeling that the situation had ultimately been minimized. It's particularly disappointing because the venue has so much potential, but it seems to attract a rowdier, sort of less considerate crowd than you'd expect. read more

I was attracted by the menu posted outside which offered a hot toddy cocktail on an absolute frigid afternoon in the city. Upon entering the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised by the vibe and ambiance. The hostess recommended that I try the hot toddy which confirmed my initial interest. The cocktail lived up to everything that I imagined it would be. The bar staff was friendly and attentive. The bartender promptly served me an amazing cocktail. After reviewing the menu I decided to add the clam chowder. It did not disappoint. Flavorful and delicious from the first spoon to the last. I will definitely be returning for another experience. The host who seated my party was pleasant and accommodating, and our waitress was exceptional beyond words. The food was delicious. My salmon and asparagus were cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the experience was significantly impacted by my interaction with the manager. He made my party feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, appearing frustrated by our presence, almost as if he questioned whether we could afford the bill (which only totaled $210). When we attempted to compliment our waitress and express how much we enjoyed her hospitality, he dismissed us entirely. Because of this interaction, I cannot confidently say that I would recommend this restaurant. It is truly unfortunate, as every other aspect of the evening was wonderful. read more

We went to check Splendid out, reserved the table we wanted with a good view of one of the many large screens on the wall and checked out the menu. It exceeded our expectations.
