The salted caramel deluxe was the best one I tried, but even that didn't feel like a truly worthy dessert to me. I've tried most of the classic cookies, and as a massive snickerdoodle and white macadamia fan, those were especially underwhelming. Was told that there were no more free cookies for dressing up for Halloween and then proceeds to let people buy cookies that are used for that same promotional offer. I ordered a chocolate chunk, though I much prefer chocolate chips over the chunks but it wasn't an option. I also got an oatmeal cookie too. Located on a busy street in Ann Arbor, but we got lucky with a front row spot. The space inside is pretty empty and it's hard to tell if it's always been like this or it's due to covid. So if you don't look around or expect it to be pretty and go straight to the menu on the wall it works out pretty good. We ordered the 6 pack classic cookies, they came out warm and tasty. My son introduced me to Insomnia Cookies during his move in back in August. I decided to send him a delivery of cookies. I placed the order over two hours in advance of the time I wanted them delivered to him. That time comes and passes without delivery, the Cookie Tracker indicates 'Baking' when I check the order status. I phone Customer Service, speak with Morgan who contacts the store in question. I received a notification of an email with a code for six free cookies on my next online delivery order as I was holding. She comes back to the line and states that they indicate they are extremely busy and anticipate it being yet another hour before delivery can be made. I question why with both an email address and phone number for me as the orderer I was not contacted and notified of this. I further inquired as to why there doesn't appear to be such a process in place as I had to contact them to be advised of the delay. She stated the store is to contact them and they would in turn reach out to the customer. She then stated that if my son doesn't answer at the time of delivery the driver goes back to the bakery at such time contact would be made to schedule delivery for another time or day. This was my reasoning for making the purchase and scheduling delivery well in advance. There wasn't any empathy shown nor any sincerity in the apology offered as she reiterated that she sent the email code for six free cookies on a future order placed. I'm quite disenchanted with this initial experience that I find it quite presumptuous that I would desire to do it again given this experience. It add further insult the delivery once it finally made arrived in a regular box despite the $3.00 additional fee paid for a gift box. We picked some up at the end of the night after bar hopping in Ann Arbor and they were freshly baked and warm out of the oven. The warm gooey melty chocolate chunk crumbly cookies were amazing and they were just as good the next day even when they were no longer warm and fresh out of the oven! No need to heat them up, they were just as mouth-watering delicious! We were staying at a hotel for a friend's birthday weekend and had just finished the night at Good Time Charley's which is right across the street. My friend was excited to order some cookies to deliver to the room for our group. A few of us also bought some cookies to take home with us. Insomnia cookies is open until 3 am. The first time I remember hearing about them was on a Food Network episode. They started as a couple college kids baking cookies in their dorms or apartment. Their friends could smell the cookies all over the building and then they started selling the cookies and delivering them to friends during late night study sessions. What a brilliant idea! Apparently Insomnia Cookies used to have a cookie food truck on U of M's campus where you could order cookies but U of M shut it down and they eventually opened a storefront and so glad they did. When you first walk in to Insomnia Cookies, your nose is flooded with the delightful aroma of warm freshly baked cookies. There's no turning back now after being seduced by that sweet delightful cookie aroma. There were college kids and late night bar goers lined up around the building which reminded me of how Blaze Pizza looks like at 2 am, coming out of Royal Oak. They have lots of different order options. They have six traditional cookie options including chocolate chunk, peanut butter chip, snickerdoodle, sugar, M&M, oatmeal raisin, double chocolate mint, white chocolate macadamia, and double chocolate chunk. They were unfortunately out of the double chocolate varieties and I'll have to try those next time. Each cookie is $1.65 a piece or you can order a delicious duo which is choice of two cookies and milk for $6.60. They also have ice cream, brownies and ice cream cookie sandwiches and premium cookies which are double the size of the traditional cookies and come in flavors of chocolate peanut butter cup, triple chocolate chunk and s'mores. You can also order a box of cookies. I ordered a box with my choice of six cookies for $9.50. They also had 12 cookies for $17.50 and 18 cookies for $25.75. My friend ordered another box of cookies for the group and had it delivered to the room. She ordered 24 cookies for $33. There was also a delivery charge of about $3 and with tax and tip, it was around $45. They were delivered pretty quickly and soon as we opened the box and saw the glorious cookies that were steaming with sweet freshly baked delicious cookie aroma, we were all oohing and ahhing and simultaneously salivating. The chocolate chunk and peanut butter chip cookies were definitely my favorite of all the ones we tried. The peanut butter chip reminded me of the cookies I baked as a kid with my mom, that you would cross hatch the top with a fork. So peanut buttery and delicious! The M&M cookies were also good and I fully intended to only eat half a snickerdoodle cookie but it was so good I ate the whole thing. I've been dreaming about these cookies ever since! I checked out their website, and you can actually order a box of cookies and they ship nation wide! So I'm definitely ordering a box of cookies for family gatherings during Christmas and the holidays. If you follow them on social media, they also give you one free traditional cookie with purchase. A few weeks ago I had a really rough day. And, like many people, when I have a rough day I self soothe with sweets. Insomnia Cookies, as it sounds, is a late night cookie shop. Typically found on university campuses to provide sugar rushes for those students pulling all nighters. Living in a college town means I am a beneficiary of this beautiful business model. The shop itself is open but they also do cookie delivery. Amazing. And not just cookies--ice cream, brownies, sundae fixins and more. Hot DAMN. Ordering is a breeze. They have a website so you can pick what you want without having to dictate your order to a human being who may or may not judge your late night decisions. Prepay online and then wait for your delivery. It took about 30 minutes but the cookies came right to my door via a cheerful gal and I didn't even have to get out of my pjs. You do have to pay extra for delivery and such but desperate times call for desperate measures. They have rotating specials so I took advantage of that day's--12 cookies for $12. I got a mix of pretty much everything they offer. From chocolate chip to M&M, snickerdoodle and basic sugar. All were fantastic and came to my door warm and gooey. I also did a pint of vanilla ice cream and while it was a little soft it was REALLY good ice cream. Not sure if they make their own or bring it in from somewhere else but the vanilla was fab. The edges of the cookies are crispy and feature a warm and gooey center. It's a great place for a short drop in with a friend or two! Honestly I can't even comment on the cookies because it's over the 2 hour mark and no cookies. I called customer service and they said this location had only 2 drivers working at the time. Ok, fair. I waited another half hour and still my order never arrived. Upon calling the store, the employee who answered the phone interrupted me and was resistant to resolving the problem. Such a shame. Insomnia Cookies used to be a food truck when I was in college before opening up a brick and mortar location in a prime spot. In addition to the great name, as cookies are sold late night for all the college kid with the munchies after a late night of studying or partying, Insomnia has increased their selection of cookies and also added ice cream to the mix for some ice cream cookie sandwiches. Unfortunately, the company has to do much better with its hiring practices. The employee who was there when I came in on a Sunday afternoon didn't seem like she wanted to be there. She was hanging out with her friend in the area where customers sit and ignored my question about the menu. She was not enthusiastic at all and the cookie she gave me was warm but somewhat stale. I've ordered from Insomnia before but the order got a bit screwed up and there was no one to get a hold of to fix the problem so needless to say I was pretty irritated and couldn't enjoy my delivery back then. But this time I decided to walk over and plop myself down at the actual location--a much better idea for multiple reasons: 1) You get to walk off the millions of calories you have just consumed. 2) You get to eat the cookie when it's still really warm and fresh. They pop it right out of the warmer for you and you have to consume it within minutes to achieve the best taste - trust me, they don't taste as good if you request delivery. 3) If a cookie breaks, they can't sell it, hence my free PB cookie which oh my gosh was amazing. 4) Which I guess leads to my last point, a super friendly staff. -Triple Chocolate (semi-sweet, milk chocolate & Hershey's kisses): woah. I like the amount of raisins! So many! -M&M: nothing special. The M&Ms are nice but there could be more. Just your average M&Ms cookie out of a box really. -Moose Tracks Ice Cream: oooo so creamy. I love the fudge in here. It really is rich and decadent and works so well with the creamy vanilla. As I type this review, we have been waiting for our delivery for OVER 4 HOURS. Yes. Four. Order was placed at 11pm and as of 3:30am they have not arrived. I understand that they are busy, but 4 hours is overkill. We want to go to sleep.... We called a few times for updates and were just told that the delivery is on its way, but with no time estimate. We were told there is only one driver tonight, so I feel for the driver but urge this location to address their staffing issue on weekend nights, because this is not the first time I've waited over 2 hours for a delivery. Cookies are good, usually a little undercooked. The tracking system for online orders is nice, except it does not always work. Our order right now shows as delivered when we have not yet received it. If you want fresh cookies delivered late, this is kind of your only option, and sometimes we have good experiences here, but when Insomnia disappoints you they disappoint you hard.
