Ordered through the Insomnia Cookies app and had a very poor experience. After waiting over an hour with the status stuck on "waiting for driver" (store is only about 12 minutes away), the delivery arrived incorrect. I ordered a box of cookies and a 3-scoop ice cream with toppings, but received only a small cup of melted ice cream with no toppings and none of the cookies. When I called the store, the only options offered were to wait another hour, pick up the order myself, or wait 3-5 business days for a refund. Overall, very disappointing and not what I expected.

Were the cookies good. Yes. They were very yummy. The icecream was also a hit. I got the Dreamweaver and would absolutely recommend it. It was just under $10 for 2 cookies and a scoop of ice cream. Here's the disappointing part. I went on a Friday night around 9:30pm. They close at 3AM. I wanted to try the chocolate chunk brookie. The lady was nice enough to ask the bakers how long the wait was for the brownie, and the response was that they 'didn't have anymore'. The store is expectant to be open for another 5.5hrs. I understand running out at 1AM, but to be out of something that early is ridiculous.

We were in the area for an event and saw that Insomnia was just a 5-minute walk away. I couldn't resist as this is my favorite cookie chain. We especially love the oatmeal cookies! My partner got the oatmeal raisin classic cookie, while I opted for the oatmeal chocolate walnut deluxe cookie. It was the perfect treat, raisin-free and oozing with ooey gooey melted chocolate in every bite. I got a zero sugar cola from the drink display case too. Service was fast and sufficient with no waiting needed. Also, the place was clean and bright and had about 10 counter stools in which we were able to enjoy our delicious snacks on site. A restroom was available as well which was accessible using a code, unlike the downtown San Jose location in the city I live where the restroom is always "out of order" (at least for the last 3 years, lol).

Beat tasting cookies in the Bay Area. Period. Great nostalgic, classic flavors. You MUST try the Salted Caramel cookie. I'm not even a caramel fan because I find it too sweet, but with the salt, it's amazing. Another favorite of mine is the Confetti cookie. So good! I will try the s'mores flavor next time. Also the size of the deluxe cookies are huge. Mines lasted a few days.

Insomnia Cookies started out in the East Coast then made its way nationwide the past 10+ years. I first tried them at Atlanta actually. They opened a couple stores in SF and now Berkeley! What a great location for college kids to indulge in a warm cookie late at night. I got the classic 12 pack ($32.50) and tried a lot of the flavors. Nothing was my favorite, least favorite was the oatmeal. Bummed out that they didn't have cookies and cream (not sure if it was that only or if they even make it at this location) If there was a universal cookie scale - Insomnia cookies are the softer side, easy to break off almost not holding its shape, a lot thinner compared to other cookies, chewy and buttery/ oily. Forgot to take a pic, but the cookies were just thrown in the box, definitely not nicely placed like in photos. Also nothing that if you were to bring this to party - as the 12 cookies were just thrown in, the box did not look full. I wouldn't say it's the best cookie ever but does the job!

They had all the cookie flavors but only 2 ice cream flavors . The chocolate ice cream was good, cookie was minty. Service was quick, staff was friendly. Small seating area, but bright & clean

The best cookies I've had in the Bay! My favorite cookie place has always been Antoine's in San Mateo, but Insomnia Cookies is much closer and just as delicious. The ordering process was simple and seamless. I ordered a cookie cake for my daughter's birthday, and they had it ready on time. Parking was a little tricky, but that's typical for this part of Berkeley. My only suggestion would be for Insomnia Cookies to add a chocolate chip with walnuts or pecans--it's the one thing they're missing! Overall, I would definitely support them again.

Insomnia Cookies here just across Bancroft Street from Sather Plaza of the UC Berkeley campus, is a fairly new business, less than 1 year old. It is clean and organized, but perhaps that is because we came during the summer break. I brought my friend's high school sophomore here after giving her a personalized tour of my Alma Mater, as she had visited Stanford a few days earlier, while preparing to enter an east coast boarding school she was transferring to for this fall, and planning her future educational options. ( This girl is bright, focused and ambitious! When I went to Cal years ago, I barely had the grades or scores to qualify entry. My essay of BS must have fooled them, or I was a charity acceptance case, lol). For you college grads of the past 5-10 years in Berkeley or Palo Alto, you remember the long lines for the Cream outlets. Their novel idea was for you to pick an Ice Cream flavor, (like BR 32 flavors for you OGs), then pick a cookie flavor ( like Mrs. Fields, which was started in Palo Alto, for you OGs, or Famous Amos from Hawaii), and they would make it into a sort of It's It ( which is based near SFO on the SF peninsula, also for you OGs). Insomnia puts a twist on that (I think, I am still confused, must be because I am an OG?!). And that is, you pick the Cookie first, then the Ice Cream, and they put it together into, well, er, a new Cream like It's It? Confused, and an Ice Cream purist. I just ordered a cup of 2 flavors, so did my teen companion, or maybe she was just following me to respect her OGs? I did get an Ube flavor, which is definitely a newer, on the rise flava flave (for you semi-OG MTV "D" celebrity trash show watchers) popular Asian based flavor. ( There are many Ube-Fests around California, btw). Service was good and friendly from our server, who took the time to try to explain Insomnia vs Cream to me, but I didn't get it because maybe I am an OG? BTW, the term OG actually works in Japan, too, because Ojiisan (pronounced like OG) in Japanese either means grandfather, or Old Guy. Check out Insomnia Cookies, you can't go wrong with Cookies and Ice Cream, and theirs was pretty good. The sugar rush will keep you up for a while (Insomnia?). But most everyone likes both Ice Cream and Cookies, unless you're trying to lose weight, or you're an OG trying to better manage your A1C. Maybe time to consider OGzembic?

With few dessert places near Berkeley's campus, I was excited to get place with cookies AND open late! I've tried Insomnia Cookies before, but didn't really know much about them. The staff is really nice and friendly. I got their CookieMagic subscription ($10/month) which gets you a free classic cookie everyday and a deluxe cookie for $1 (1 a day for both). Considering their cookies are $3-5 each normally, I felt this was a worthwhile investment. I'm probably not going to eat 30 cookies in one month, but it does make for a nice gift to share with friends and co-workers. They have a small retail space under a luxury housing complex and right across from UC Berkeley's campus. Casual vibe and lots of flavors to try. They also have a variety of other offerings like cookie cakes, ice cream, dipping frostings, etc. I'll definitely be back!

This is the only one we received.

Cookies are good. But didn't arrive at n day we need it. We ordered online for the same day and it arrived the next day. We received only 1 of the 7 orders. It's for a birthday get together so I end up ordering other pastries at Edmonds cafe. My boss paid for the insomnia cookies and didn't have time to call to dispute. I knew he paid too much for the order. If anyone orders online please just decline order if you can't deliver on time.

These cookies are so ooey gooey delicious and warm. I got the [salted caramel] and [chocolate chunk] cookies and thought both were pretty good! I liked the salted caramel one more because it balanced out the sweetness of the cookie. The texture of the cookies is somewhat crunchy on the outside, and more soft inside and filling. I thought they were a little expensive for the price and flavor, but overall not too bad! :)

My favorite place to get a cookie nearby for a reasonable price. I got the chocolate chunk and it was not too sweet, just perfect. Recommended for a late night snack or craving!

I arrived around 7:30 and it was empty, but as I was deciding what to get there was a line out the door. Everything looks delicious it was so hard to choose. For myself I got the egg and ham croissant which was so unique and absolutely delicious. A perfect savory treat. I also had a bite of their strawberry-rhubarb breton which was also delicious, kinda like a shortbread cookie with cream and strawberry. The worker was super sweet helping me out and patient as I was struggling on what to order for her and myself. Small shop with meter/street parking.

Their food is generally pretty good: ranging from average (certain seasonal desserts, their ham and…read morecheese croissants, scones) to excellent (toffee cake, almond croissants, certain beads). They are on the pricey side but that's expected in the Bay Area. The reason for the two stars: of the last three times I've been there, they have gotten my order wrong TWICE. Once in a while is totally an acceptable accident but two thirds wrong is really poor service. The workers are nice but not exactly approachably friendly. They take the order in front of the register, receive payment, and then step over to the counter to collect the items. The issue is when you (I) order a lot of stuff, they get collected behind the counter and placed into a large shopping bag so you can't see what you are getting (or not getting). They walk around behind the counter grabbing stuff and those that have paid stand in a small corner away from the purchasing line so it's difficult to see what they do (or don't) pick up. The first time I came home to find my order of half loaf (they sell the large ones by halves, if you want) missing. I brushed it off as an accident. I don't live close enough to go back before they close and I wouldn't have proof anyways. This last time I went, they didn't put in a pastry! At this point, I'm down about $16 and beginning to wonder if it's deliberate. *sigh* So now I have to decide whether I boycott them altogether or only buy one or two items so I can see what I am getting or be the weirdo that takes out every item in a large shopping bag to double check their work. *sigh again*

The bakery itself seems to mainly be a takeout spot, with minimal indoor seating which felt pretty inconvenient given the limited space for customers, however it did seem to serve more of a purpose as a waiting area anyways. The structure of the bakery leaves a bit to be desired as well, as we found the glass display cases as the only form of menu, so being in the front of the line while still deciding what to order caused some unnecessary anxiety. Regardless of those nitpicks, the baked goods themselves were pretty good! Service was instant, and all of the treats looked delicious--it was hard to choose what we wanted! Our favorites were the Thai Tea and Ube Coconut Mochi Donuts. Both had really strong flavors--the Ube in particular was very clear in comparison to most other Ube desserts in my experience. The textures of the mochi donuts were really well done too, with soft exteriors and chewy, glutinous interiors. The same can be said about the Mochi Muffins, though with crunchier parts around the edges. We found the contrast of textures to actually work really well! However, the flavors of the Muffins were lacking a bit--the Red Velvet didn't stand out much, with the frosting tasting a bit too sweet, and while the Five Spice had a really interesting flavor, it was also a bit too sweet, drowning out the more unique citrusy flavor. Overall, however, all four of the goods we had were enjoyable eats, and would definitely return some time to try out other flavors!

Visit date: 4/19/2026…read more We came about an hour before closing on a Sunday, so unfortunately many of the items I wanted to try based on other people's recommendations were already sold out. We ended up getting three things: * The cheese twist was soooo good! The cheese was flavorful and the pastry itself was perfectly done. * The apple pastry was interesting. Unlike many places where the pastry is either bland or overly sweet, Acme's pastry had a slight saltiness to it, which I actually think is genius. I almost always prefer a hint of savory flavor to balance out the sweetness from the filling or topping. My only issue with this one was that the apple topping was not sweet at all and leaned more tart, so paired with the salty pastry, it was not quite the flavor combination I was hoping for. * The mini raspberry pastry had the same issue for me. The raspberry topping was just a bit too tart and sour for my taste. Even though not everything was a hit for me, I would definitely come back and give this bakery another chance, especially since we arrived so late and missed out on many of their most popular items.
