Are Insomnia Cookies baked goods good? Yes, they are - both their cookies and their brownies. Are they worth the cost and effort? That's debatable. I've had some experiences that were quick and painless, and more than a few that were disappointing. A couple months ago, one employee was working alone on the day they had a promotion for National Cookie Day, which meant a long line out the door. She was trying to do her job but was clearly overwhelmed. She said her supervisor was not supposed to come in until 1 p.m. but was about to arrive at 11:30 a.m. to help. No one is forcing Insomnia Cookies to do this or any promotion, but if they're going to do it, it would be nice if they actually prepared for it. On several occasions, I have tried to use a reward I have in the app, only to get an error message. A few times it was because I wanted a special/seasonal cookie that was listed as a "Classic Cookie," but it somehow didn't qualify. I have often asked for assistance from the person working the counter, and they have politely told me that they're sorry but they do not have the ability to override the system. I have even offered to pay the difference between the regular classic cookie and the special/seasonal classic cookie, but my offer has never been accepted. If you don't want to count a special/seasonal cookie as a classic cookie, don't include it in the "Classic Cookies" category. read more

Always DoorDash for pickup in this spot. The parking situation is real difficult sometimes . Lots of Pedestrian and Berkeley student s around especially lunch time. I usually park at the yellow curb next to the tons of UC university white sub cop vehicles . Never had a problem here. The service is always quick and friendly . I only have insomnia when I get the cravings . You can't beat the location and the cookie shop is open until late. Were the cookies good. Yes. They were very yummy. The icecream was also a hit. I got the Dreamweaver and would absolutely recommend it. It was just under $10 for 2 cookies and a scoop of ice cream. Here's the disappointing part. I went on a Friday night around 9:30pm. They close at 3AM. I wanted to try the chocolate chunk brookie. The lady was nice enough to ask the bakers how long the wait was for the brownie, and the response was that they 'didn't have anymore'. The store is expectant to be open for another 5.5hrs. We were in the area for an event and saw that Insomnia was just a 5-minute walk away. I couldn't resist as this is my favorite cookie chain. We especially love the oatmeal cookies! My partner got the oatmeal raisin classic cookie, while I opted for the oatmeal chocolate walnut deluxe cookie. It was the perfect treat, raisin-free and oozing with ooey gooey melted chocolate in every bite. I got a zero sugar cola from the drink display case too. Service was fast and sufficient with no waiting needed. Also, the place was clean and bright and had about 10 counter stools in which we were able to enjoy our delicious snacks on site. After waiting over an hour with the status stuck on "waiting for driver" (store is only about 12 minutes away), the delivery arrived incorrect. I ordered a box of cookies and a 3-scoop ice cream with toppings, but received only a small cup of melted ice cream with no toppings and none of the cookies. Insomnia Cookies started out in the East Coast then made its way nationwide the past 10+ years. I first tried them at Atlanta actually. They opened a couple stores in SF and now Berkeley! Nothing was my favorite, least favorite was the oatmeal. Bummed out that they didn't have cookies and cream (not sure if it was that only or if they even make it at this location) If there was a universal cookie scale - Insomnia cookies are the softer side, easy to break off almost not holding its shape, a lot thinner compared to other cookies, chewy and buttery/ oily. Ordered the 12 pack, which is almost $4/cookie. Last year, placed a number of orders for the 12 pack. Then, without fail, the cookies were a decent size and, of course, tasted great. Both size and taste were consistent last year. This year, however, unless you pay a surcharge for one of their specialty cookies, the regular ones are now nearly 1/2 the size they used to be for the same price. They are shockingly small. Else, the prices are a bit high for their small cookies. I think it's more affordable if you get their volume box. Insomnia cookies are best eaten immediately, warm, fresh. The best cookies I've had in the Bay! My favorite cookie place has always been Antoine's in San Mateo, but Insomnia Cookies is much closer and just as delicious. The ordering process was simple and seamless. I ordered a cookie cake for my daughter's birthday, and they had it ready on time. Insomnia puts a twist on that (I think, I am still confused, must be because I am an OG?!). And that is, you pick the Cookie first, then the Ice Cream, and they put it together into, well, er, a new Cream like It's It? Confused, and an Ice Cream purist. I just ordered a cup of 2 flavors, so did my teen companion, or maybe she was just following me to respect her OGs? I did get an Ube flavor, which is definitely a newer, on the rise flava flave (for you semi-OG MTV "D" celebrity trash show watchers) popular Asian based flavor. I have gotten the chocolate peanut butter cup and s'mores cookies, which were both a bit too sweet. Yessss I'm so glad we finally have an Insomnia Cookies in the area. It was basically the only thing missing in the dessert space. Insomnia makes soft (but not too cake-like) cookies with a great crispy outside. They're not insanely huge like crumbl so a cookie is actually a serving (although they do now have a larger size option if that's your jam). I have always had great service here. I've been to two. Both were just small store fronts with us little bit of seating. I love their vegan cookies and chocolate chunk is my favorite.
