I stopped into Insomnia Cookies in Charleston about 10 minutes before closing and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing from both a customer service and product standpoint. I completely understand that working late and closing shifts can be exhausting, but if the store is still open, customers should still be treated with basic professionalism and courtesy. The young lady working the counter acted as if serving me was an inconvenience from the moment I walked in. The interaction felt cold, dismissive, and very much like she simply did not want to be there or help customers at that point in the night. To make matters worse, the cookies I received were not warm at all, which is literally one of the main reasons people go to Insomnia Cookies in the first place. Getting room temperature cookies after receiving lackluster service just made the entire visit feel pointless. Late night or not, consistency matters. If the doors are open until 1:00 AM, customers should still receive the experience the brand advertises and that they are paying for. read more

Kinda pricey when you get the deluxe cookies but these ones were worth it! Perfectly gooey and warm when I got them! The lava cake cookie is a limited time option but I hope it stays forever. Stumbled upon this place downtown and hubby was super happy they had a GF option. Guy at the counter was friendly and helpful. They had a couple ice creams that were also GF. They had chocolate chip as the GF option so we went with that. Warm, soft, chewy and delicious! Glad to find another dessert place that has GF options! A bit pricey for just one cookie. There are a lot of places to get dessert in the city... This should not be one of them. I came here to grab a couple of cookies after a nice dinner for my birthday, because I've seen insomnia many times, but never actually tried them. I could've done without them, and would've rather had crumble or gone and gotten cake from one of the many places downtown to do so. One of the cookies that my friend ordered was good and one of them was bad and when it comes to dessert, I'm not willing to gamble. I will say, the gentleman working the counter was incredibly efficient, especially given that he was working on his own. The lobby is small. This is not a place you're going to hang out in. If I could give zero stars I would. I ordered an ice cream cookie sandwich and was told that the cookies just went in and would be a 15-20 minute wait. Every time I asked when it would be ready the workers said they just put them in over and over again. I waited over an hour for my cookies and the workers were aggressive and aggravated by everyone waiting, which is reasonable but severely unprofessional. We loved Insomnia Cookies so much that we came back twice on our vacation. The first time we ordered over 20 cookies and the M&Ms were my favorite. The second time we ordered only 12 cookies, as a late night snack, and the Snickerdoodle cookies were amazing! This place stays open very late and also delivers. Our cookies were served warm and the size of each cookie was just perfect! The one reason I had to give it 4 out of 5 stars is because we ordered a ton of cookies the first time and the 2 Blueberry Cobbler cookies were left out of the box. I was really looking forward to trying this unique flavor. We will still be back but will check the box before leaving. I definitely recommend this little cookie shop! The baking cookie smell is what brings people in each time... who can pass up warm freshly baked cookies?! Though this location was struggling a bit, the staff remained calm and got the cookies out at quickly as possibly! Something that has never been explained to me was the different cookies on the menu. The Guy running the register took the time to explain to me the different packages and which ones he likes. Had to drop in to Insomnia after having dinner on King Street last night. I have heard good things and who doesn't love a warm soft cookie? We were greeted as soon as we walked in. It is a cute small shop. The staff went over the offerings when we took them it was our first time there. We chose to get a six pack and pick our flavors. I was excited they had Gingerbread as a holiday flavor. Not many people like that flavor...but me...yes please! I love how the cookies are a sensible size and are not overly big and heavy like some of the other cookie places that have been popping up. The M&M was delicious as well. Leaving a Yelp event downtown, I saw this store and jumped for joy! I have visited the location they have in the upstate and was so delighted to see we have one locally. I popped in and bought 2 m&m cookies and a milk. Ohhhh the cookies were just as good as I remembered. Nice and warm, not overly sweet and the right amount of m&ms in them. Perfect! My friend and I were doing some shopping downtown and wanted to get a few cookies after hearing they had vegan options. As someone who has a lot of severe allergies it is hard to find a sweet treat. We were greeted by a short, brunette woman with glasses and while I was asking to make sure the vegan cookies didn't have any eggs, milk, or nuts I was interrupted with a snarky response of "That's what vegan means."
