My husband and I are first-time customers. He got the thin-crust sausage and mushroom pizza, while I got the gluten-free (thin crust) veggie special with cheese, spinach, mushrooms, green peppers and added fresh tomatoes. The secret is to order the pizzas with extra sauce and then to put them in your oven (350 degrees or so) at home to get that extra caramelization, crispiness and more vivid colors. Tasty! Their gluten-free crust isn't as good as Spacca Napoli's, but it doesn't taste like potato flour cardboard either -- it's totally fine! And look at those cool vintage ovens!

It's been a year or so since I visited LaRosa Pizzeria. I had no idea that it had changed ownership. The pizza I ordered was very good, I even met the new owner. He was a nice gentleman I assume. But he had Fox News blaring in the background because of this I will not be back. It is his right as an American to believe whatever he chooses. It is my right as an American to spend my hard-earned money where I want. And because Fox News is so devisive I choose not to give anyone that gives them oxygen my hard-earned dollars! In a time where truth is so relevant, to listen to or watch this station is counterproductive to our outright democracy. They have been sued for defamation regarding the 2020 election they promoted the big lie and because they did they lost a 737 million dollar settlement. I can only hope the owner is a nice person but because Fox was playing I'm not sure. The pizza is very good and my feelings toward his business have to do with politics. As an American we have to do better for each other. I served this country and I stand for all its citizens. I'm sorry but that's how I feel. I'm giving LaRosa four stars because of the pizza.

I spotted this place when my work location temporarily changed during covid. I constantly saw delivery drivers and wondered if it was any good and where it was. I spotted the storefront next to the shell; a tiny place (my favorite type of place). Today, my boyfriend and I got the La Rosa special (added pepperoni) but mine was on gluten free crust without cheese. The women that answered the phone to take our order had no issue with my weird order which I really appreciate. My boyfriend's pizza (normal) was cut into squares and mine into traditional pizza slices; helped distinguish the two different crusts (they LOADED the toppings). The cook was super nice too to us too when we picked up! The gluten free crust was so crispy and perfectly cooked. It is by far the BEST gluten free crust I have ever had. I will definitely be back as I can truly enjoy pizza again. Thanks!

Thin crust pizza is my jam. Normally I have my go-to location but I was encouraged by the number of positive reviews and tried them out. A few weeks ago, I placed a pickup order for a large thin crust sausage and mushroom. I got my pizza in a timely manner. Still warm from a short ride home, I opened up the box to find a precut sausage and mushroom. I took a slice and bit into the crisp "cracker" like crust. Overall it was good for the value. I paid just under $20 for my pizza. Though it was not the best, it wasn't the worst. This pizza must be consumed same day. There was plenty left over after our meal but unfortunately the "cracker" like crust lost its integrity after a night in the fridge. After a reheat in the oven, it got soft and chewy. Still edible but not what I was hoping for.

So I ordered a delivery and it showed up hot and steamy. They also read my request for paper plates and napkins and plastic wear, also gave me some extra seasonings on the side. The pizza is so yummy.

    Original oven - my pizza's ready :)

Pequod's Pizza is in my home town of Morton Grove, and I hadn't been there in over 50 years! I…read moreremembered the pizza as being exceptional, and had been talking about going back forever. It was a long standing joke between my husband and myself...could this pizza possibly live up to my expectations? And the answer is.... Yup! It is as good as I remembered it to be. The carmelized pan crust looks burnt (they even warn you on the menu that it's supposed to be black), but it's the best part of the pizza. The pizza/tomato sauce was extremely flavorful (not just plain tomatoes like Lou Malnatis or Rosatis). The sausage was delicious, and the onions were sweet. There was a ton of sausage, and lots of onions on the pizza--very generous portions. The mozzarella cheese appetizer was served very hot, and was pretty good. Basically...your typical frozen moz sticks. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. Service was very good. The only negative I can point out is there was an overwhelming mildewy smell when you approach and enter the restaurant. It was very off putting. Overall, this is the best pan pizza I've ever eaten, and as such, I highly recommend Pequod's.

It was a little frustrating, but I figured the walk would be good exercise before a big meal. The restaurant itself is small and has an older, cozy feel. The dining area is quite compact, so I wouldn't recommend it for large groups or parties. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We only saw our server three times: to take our order, deliver our food, and bring the check. In between, he was nowhere to be found. The lack of attentiveness and hospitality was disappointing. Thankfully, the deep dish pizza completely turned things around. The crust was crispy with a nice char, giving it excellent flavor and texture. The gooey cheese was evenly distributed throughout the pizza, and I appreciated that the sausage came in generous chunks instead of small crumbles. The tomato sauce was well balanced, neither too sweet nor too acidic which tied everything together beautifully. Despite the disappointing service, the pizza alone is worth coming back for. Next time, though, I'll probably order takeout. With service like this, leaving a tip didn't feel well deserved.

Lefty's has a very small dining room with limited seating (during the warmer months they offer al fresco dining) and a counter running along the main window for additional seating. In this instance seating and interior are secondary to the superb quality of the pizza. We started with a Sketchbook IPA and Peroni beer on draft. They were brought to the table in chilled glasses with a nice head of foam. The beers were presented in glasses with the beer names etched on each of the glasses. Outstanding presentation! For our entree we ordered a 16 inch thin crust pizza with sausage, green peppers, and mushrooms. When it came to the table it was hot and bursting with a sweet aroma and bouquet of colors. The pizza was topped with green, red, and yellow peppers, mushrooms, and chunks of fresh sausage. The sauce was sweet and plentiful and was amply covered with generous portions of melted mozzarella cheese. The pizza was hot and the blended flavors of the combined ingredients were superb. Finally, an establishment that values the quality of ingredients and consistently delivers. Lefty's is one of the very best thin crust pizza's on the north shore. We ordered cheese curds and a medium sized pizza. For toppings, we chose sausage, mushrooms, and fresh garlic. This is not deep dish pizza, I would say it's more of a pan style. It's not heavy like at Gino's East or Giordano's. It has that famous caramelized crust and that airy dough. The toppings were super fresh. We immediately tasted the garlic. Burt's own special blend of the sausage tasted homemade. If you dine in, they cut it for you. If you take it home, you should already have a pizza cutter in your kitchen. Don't be lazy, it's very inexpensive. The cheese curds were generous and very tasty. They're like bite size mozzarella sticks. Service was great and attentive. Prices were cheap.
