I was craving a sweet treat so my friend and I went to Insomnia cookies for a little midnight snack! I was a little skeptical because it has been awhile since I've been to any Insomnia cookies location, but I had gotten in on a delayed flight and after grabbing dinner, I was really craving something warm and sweet (it's a rainy day). We arrived on a Wednesday night at around 11:45 PM and there was one lady working. She was kind and immediately said hi and warned us she did not have any original chocolate chunk cookies anymore. The menu was a little expensive - forgot to take a picture but it was $2.99 + tax for a basic cookie and there were some deluxe cookies as well for a higher price. My friend and I got the 6 pack deal for $16.99 + tax for 6 basic cookies. Total came out to be $17.96. The gluten free cookies were included in the basic cookies. The 6 cookies I got were 2 gluten free (gf) chocolate chunk cookies, 1 peanut butter, 1 white chocolate macadamia, 1 m&m, and 1 double chocolate chunk. They were still warm as it seems she got them straight from the oven below her? Honestly, I didn't have a favorite because they were all delicious! (I had the 4 non gluten free ones). The cookies really hit the spot! The outside crust was crispy and the inside was warm and soft and gooey - as a cookie should be! Nothing much to the ambiance - it smells great in there, and I believe there's a small counter with a seat or 2(?). When I requested my online order the box of cookies were gently "tossed" at me on the counter. It was like, "Here's your damn cookies now leave me alone!" I was like "Whoa!" At this point dealing with this business is just not worth it. Don't believe me just do a search on these reviews for the term "rude" and you'll see the countless others that have experienced this. Yesterday I was on my way to visit a friend in the hospital who just gave birth and I didn't want to go empty handed. I did not see a floral shop around so I saw this little cookie store and walked in. I got a box and since it smelled so good I also got an individual one to munch while I walk. Wow the cookie I had in my hand was so good. Fresh and warm, not too sweet, I got the white chocolate macadamia for myself and it was delicious. I had heard about this place when I used to live in the East Village but had never stopped in. Recently though, they opened another location in my lovely neighborhood - the ever so fratty and delightful Murray Hill. Although the NYU market is probably ideal for this company, I'm sure that the drunk former frat boy market will be equally lucrative. If you all aren't familiar with their business model, they serve warm, melty cookies by delivery until 2am. Pretty dank. In any case, last night at 8:30pm - while entirely sober - I really wanted cookies, and I remembered having seen Insomnia Cookies both in my neighborhood and on Seamless. So I decided to place on order. Mercifully, they only have a $6 delivery minimum, so you don't have to go totally hog wild. But $6 still means you have to get at least two cookies. Fine. I planned to eat one the following day. The delivery window was 30-45 minutes, but it came in about 15. They deliver the cookies in cute little pizza boxes, and they sure are warm and melty. I doubted that they would be and was pleasantly surprised. I got the M&M cookie and the S'mores cookie. The former was delicious insomuch as it's hard to go wrong with a warm M&M cookie, but it certainly could be replicated elsewhere. The S'mores cookie was a real stand-out though. It was absolutely chock-full of chocolate chunks, marshmallows, and crispy graham cracker pieces. I loved it. I ultimately ate both cookies in one sitting - and that "sitting" was the equivalent of about 4 minutes. I would definitely order again, though I can't see this becoming my "drunk food" - that honor is reserved for Disco Fries with American cheese. read more

Called the store and the hood receptionist/cashier/customer service agent (not sure what an employees title would be) said hold on and then hung up. Tracked my order immediately after and it conveniently updates to "out for delivery." Called back to confirm and the call also conveniently goes to a call center, they claims it's out for delivery. I ask how long does it take to bake cookies? Agent confirms no more than 10 minutes. So all in all the entire time it took for the order of a dozen cookies to arrive took nearly 2 hours- averaging the time it took to cook each cookie INDIVIDUALLY. Corporate insomnia emails me back regarding my horrible experience and tries to rectify it by giving me a promo code for 12 free cookies- wiith the purchase of a dozen. What makes you think I'd prefer again when a cookie averages 10mins in the oven? I'm better off getting subpar cookies at McD's or subway. Never ordering from the company again.
