Great concept, but pretty expensive for quality and quantity I just don't understand why people would pay so much for a bundle of itsy bitsy cupcakes that are pretty dry. I would prefer the full sized ones. As for the location, staff is great and friendly and getting what you want is pretty quick and easy. IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

I've been a loyal customer of Baked by Melissa and have made it a tradition to order your cupcakes every year for my daughter's birthday. Unfortunately, my recent experience at this location was disappointing. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was met with a very rude and dismissive response from someone named Karen. When I asked a simple question, she responded with, "IDK, I don't work here," which was both confusing and unprofessional. If she is interacting with customers, she should be properly trained, or perhaps reconsidered for a customer-facing role. I truly hope this is addressed, as this tradition is special to me and I'd like to continue supporting Baked by Melissa in the future. Thank you for your time

My daughter wanted to go here and get the minis to take home. The employees were not that helpful to be honest. We got a variety and we were going to be taking them on a plane. They said they would be ok. After the employee ran my credit card, I saw sign that mentioned the rewards program (which I am a part of). I said please add these for my rewards - to which she replied - I can't do that. I asked her why she didn't ask me this before you rang up my credit card. She was totally rude. I asked for a phone # for me to call to get the rewards added to my account. What a pain. The other employee said - it was an honest mistake - yes, it might have been but she should have made it right. She could care less. So when I got home, I tried calling - but then I emailed and they did get back to me the next day - I had to follow up again to make sure they added my points to my account -which eventually they did. I think they need a lot of help with customer service. Not cool. Not cool at all. As my friend has said to me - there are plenty of cupcake places around!

A perfect place to pop in and get something sweet! Bite size cakes were the perfect amount, super moist and has so much flavor.

So , how do the reviews go missing ? I did this one ? I mentioned we saw Melissa on GMA . I like these bite size sweet treats . To ship , they do get a bit pricey But they make such a splash And they definitely delight . Some reviews say they all taste the same ? Hmm I don't get that . To me distinctly different . They are at Jet blue terminal , JFK . And several locations in NYC . They wrapped them impressively . Great gift for Mother's Day ! Check them out ! Thank me later

1st time trying these & I'm impressed! I got 6 for $9 ($1.25 each). The macarons (cookie dough & snickerdoodle) are super sweet but so good! The cupcakes (mint cookie, chocolate chip pancake, chocolate bar & chocolate covered graham cracker) were really good too!

3.5 stars Got a box of 12 mini cupcakes as a gift from my best friend! I've passed by this place on several occasions while heading to work but never gave it a try because of the mediocre reviews and because the small cupcakes make them look prepackaged. The cupcakes are actually not bad though. They're all very moist and not dry. I actually like how they're small because then you get to try a lot of different flavors at a time without feeling guilty. All of them tasted good but the flavors that I particularly liked were: - Chocolate chip pancake - Peanut butter and jelly - Tie dye - A white one with a pink cookie on top I think boxes of these cupcakes make great gifts. They're packaged very nicely and they taste good as well. Obviously they're not as good as the juggernauts like Magnolia and Molly's but they still make for great treats. Will definitely keep them open as an option for future gifting purposes :)

Super cute! While driving by I thought they were mini French macarons and I was half right. They specialize in micro mini cupcakes, so small they're only $1 each and less in calories. Wasn't able to try any micro macarons, saving room for Ladureé. I only tried the very green Mint Cookie, tasted ok, crisp bites of Oreo on there. Red velvet looked good too. They have Baked by Melissa in multiple locations. I wouldn't mind dropping by again to try other flavors. Service is fine. T-shirts for sale.

I really like Baked by Melissa. We have been eating their cupcakes before they had a chain and was just a walk-up stand in SoHo. We love all the flavors especially the new macaron cupcakes. I just had them do a 100 cupcake order for me and they did a terrific job. We love Baked by Melissa!

So disappointed!!! I had gone past Baked by Melissa shops for ages and finally my family made a stop. We totally expected more of a bake shop instead of these miniature offerings, but we thought we'd give it a try and bought a dozen of the "cupcakes." Finally, tasting them back in the hotel room, we were all very underwhelmed. These are smaller than even two-bite brownies, really they are less than a bite each. Now I know to just pass this place by.

As I was walking down Lexington I decided to stop by Baked by Melissa and try one of these teeny tiny cupcakes! The price was right-$1.00. I wanted one with peanut butter. I don't like jelly so the nice girl at the counter said to try the chocolate with peanut butter inside. I think she called it Scotcheroo. It was so small I took one bite just to see the inside. Then I finished it off! It is really tiny enough for one bite! So delicious! That was my first Baked by Melissa experience. Now today I see they added mini muffins. Excellent. Moist and bite size. Just enough to take with me in my bag. They have a cute little plastic to go box. When I left I snapped a picture of the one I purchased today. This is a take out only place. The space is small. It will fill up with customers. I now have a time of day I go when it's not as busy. I chat with employees. They are really nice! The cupcakes and my muffin today are very tasty. I'd like to try many of the other flavors. I'll go back when I just need that little something sweet! Or maybe I'll try another flavor that sounds appetizing just for fun! I do know if I bought a box I wouldn't be able to control myself. I'd be Yelping from my hospital bed!

There was a bit of a line, but it moved pretty quickly. I am boring, so I just ordered the plain vanilla cupcake, but it was just perfect. It was fresh and the cake itself was wonderful. We had a big party--everyone was happy, but particularly happy with the cookie dough and red velvet. Definitely worth a visit.

So there is a lot to unpack from my visit to SoHo to pick up a cake from my sister. I hadn't been here in years so when I pulled up I took a step back to take it all in, the cutesy interior which was clean and not too brightly lit. I checked out the cake prices and flavors and when I was sure of what I wanted I stepped up to the counter and began to take pictures bc there were like 4 attendants and I waited for one to engage with me. A young man did he said are you ready to order I said yes and told him I wanted a strawberry shortcake slice $10 and a Brooklyn black out slice (also $10 and the actual reason I came). When he was boxing I took pictures and thought oh maybe I should switch to the hostess slice (out loud). Another attendant said sure, but then the first one pulled up with the boxes and I was like ok I'll just get a cupcake separate. Why I walk back to the cupcakes to choose and the young man starts helping someone new and I look him in the eye he then rushes over but again starts taking another customer. They were 3 customers in the store in total including me so why he didn't want to provide me service I do not know. But it made me so upset I was like wow am I really gonna spend this much money and this guy is being rude. I had to now get in line behind the 2 other patrons that came in after me. The attendant who rung me up tried to empathize and offered me a free $1 candle- it came from a cup of candle in front of the register and when he placed it on top of the box it rolled onto the counter and I said how many ppl touched that?? It's going in a cake someone is going to eat. I declined the candle, paid and probably will never return. Strawberry shortcake slice was a 6/10 tasted old Hostess cupcake 10/10 I inhaled it no crumbs Brooklyn blackout cake 15/10 moist, thick chocolate perfect. Now I'll tell you right now the birthday cake I got my sister was worth the $25 and change I paid for it. She liked it, I liked it, it made her happy- but the service made me frown I really didn't like it. Total rating 3.5

So fun fact they are now advertising Banana Pudding Hot Chocolate and it is NOT actual hot chocolate but banana pudding made to taste like hot chocolate. Why I got so confused? I don't know! Maybe I have been watching too many videos about Tyra Banks Hot Ice Cream. Either way I appreciate the guys patience and kindness when explaining it to me twice especially because I did not end up ordering that at all (though it sounds interesting) but I did get the regular actual hot chocolate and it was amazing! It tasted like melted marshmallows were in it! Perfect for a cold winter day. In addition we got to the humming bird cake, a cupcake, and the regular banana pudding. My husband had never been here before so you know we had to get the banana pudding, it's their claim to fame. And it is decent. Growing up in North Carolina banana pudding is taken very seriously and is literally at every gathering. Would this be a contender for the cookout? Sure! I have no complaints about. The other baked items were delicious as well. The store is cute unfortunately this location has no indoor seating but plenty of outdoor. It was like negative degrees when we went so we definitely did not sit outside. All and all it's a cute bakery/ sweets shop. There are many locations through out the city. Another employee, Kirk--an older gentleman who looked completely out of place--approached and coughed directly over the slice of cake that had just been cut for me. Yes. Over it. At that moment, I honestly wondered if it was intentional. A young woman nearby immediately caught my reaction and went to the back to replace the slice. She handled the situation professionally and deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the chaos continued. Kirk later made me a hot cocoa, and when I went to drink it, it spilled on me because the lid wasn't secured properly. At that point, I stopped believing in coincidences. And the cake? The German chocolate cake was terrible--dry AF and nothing like the Grand Central location. Not even remotely close. Between the coughing, the spill, and the subpar cake, this visit was uncomfortable, messy, and disappointing. Magnolia should seriously reconsider who they put on the floor and retrain accordingly--because this location is not living up to the brand. But honestly, I believe the 2 guys had to be the owners. While the presentation was 10/10 across the board, the flavors ranged from "nostalgic perfection" to "a bit of a letdown." Devil Dog (The Winner): This was by far my favorite. It was a trip down memory lane, perfectly capturing that nostalgic Hostess chocolate cupcake flavor I loved as a kid. Lemon Raspberry Meringue: Coming in a close second, this cupcake was bright, fruity, and incredibly fresh. It felt light and offered a great balance to the richer flavors in the box. Ube: This cupcake was stunning to look at. However, the flavor didn't quite live up to the exotic profile of a purple yam; it tasted like a traditional vanilla cupcake that just happened to be purple. Great for the aesthetic, but standard in taste. Hummingbird: This was the only real disappointment. I was expecting the signature tropical punch of pineapple, but it lacked that acidity. Instead, it felt more like a simple banana nut muffin with icing on top. Final Verdict: Overall, the experience was positive. The shop clearly has a talent for decor and nostalgia. I'd definitely return for the Devil Dog and the Lemon Raspberry, but I might skip the Hummingbird next time. Last Note: The woman working in the bakery was a bit rude and had an attitude and that alone will make me not com back no matter how good the cupcakes are.
