10/10 experience every time i come here. the music is great and everyone is super friendly.

My nail tech was very nice. However, I asked for an ombré pink to white solar - which was listed as a service on the website, and we agreed on a photo for inspiration. Photo and actual manicure attached. I asked him to redo it and it still was not turning out, so I asked for just a regular French done. But the dip was so thick and not even. I ended up going to another salon after and repaying for a new dip. Two of my nail beds bled from over 4hrs of service. I will not return.

This review is specifically regarding the technician Annie. She left acrylic all over my nails unfortunately I did not see until I left. I ended up having to get a full set all over again in a week because my nails had all peeled off due to excessive acrylic surrounding the nails.

Skin on the top and bottom of my lids were ripped off.

This was my second time getting my eyebrows waxed and both times, they ripped my skin off. Had 2 different techs! Do NOT get your waxing done here!!!

I was very disappointed in their service. They gave me someone who didn't seem to know what she was doing. She looked at my reference picture once but when the nails didn't look like the photo, she didn't even want to look at the photo again. I thought that was weird. But I let her work until I couldn't take it anymore. I had to continue correcting her, so I straight up told her to use the refer photo. I wasn't even asking for anything unusual. I asked for Gel X, Stiletto nails in a natural color with a white line in the middle. Do you know the nails started coming off two days later!?!?! I was literally at the airport for my birthday trip livid. A nail came off each day after that...until all the nails had fallen off within 1 week! I've been getting my nails done for decades but this was by far the worst experience. Total, I paid $135 (includes tip) for a gel pedicure and Gel X stiletto nails. It makes me sad to give this review as I've been coming here for a while and always love the way my nails come out. When Nam is having a good day, things are great. When he's having a bad day, his attitude can be rude. Sometimes I leave wondering if I've done something wrong. But I tip well and I'm a nice person. I think the service is just inconsistent depending on other factors going on, and I don't think that's fair to me as a customer. read more

$75 not including tip for the most basic gel French pedicure. No massage, no oil, no scrub. A basic 35 minute pedicure is $38. If you want gel it's an additional $20 okay...I understand but +$8 for calluses and +$8 for French?! Almost $100 total with tip for the most basic gel French pedicure is crazy IMO. These nail shops are doing less and less and expecting you to pay extra fees for very basic things. The shop is very pretty and clean but unfortunately I won't be returning :/ read more

First time I came here a young part time male employee gave me a decent gel Manicure . Second time a woman with blonde hair gave me a pedicure . She asked me if I wanted my toenails cut and I said "oh yes, short please". Well, she did not listen and she barely did anything with length. I was working (preoccupied) and trying to relax and trusted she would do the job at task and do it well. . Did not happen. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until I got home. In addition one of my nails requires a fix and she didn't do anything about it when I pointed it out and instead brushed me off, saying (in a rude manner) "I am NOT finished". Maybe there was a language barrier but I was just going to ask he for advice on a crack in a toe nail that has since grown so pedicure is AWFUL. . I went ahead and gave her a 20% tip not realizing how poorly done it was . Now I know why she looked pretty surprised when I handed her the 20% tip! She didn't deserve it. Never again unless I am satisfied . read more

I went on July 1st around 6 pm they close at 8pm. I guess they were a bit busy and because it was close to closing time my service was rushed and sloppy. I look young and I'm black, so I guess they assumed I wouldn't tip or something. I wanted gel x nails and pedicure and not either of them were done with great quality. I found them on tik tok and they had great reviews so I thought they'd be better. I asked for a french tip nail with a daisy flower design on ring and middle fingers. In the end I just settled for the ring finger because I knew they were in a hurry to leave and at that point I knew I was going to get them fixed so there was no point. The French tip was more of an English suggestion. The white portion took up half the nail. I will say she did a great job with the flower design, but overall not worth what I ended up paying for. I wish I spoke up more but honestly I felt unwanted and wanted to leave as soon as possible. I just wish they turned me away instead of being greedy and taking me in if they knew they weren't going to be professional or do a good job. In the end I did tip, because I recognize that my service did take labor. I just think its ironic that if my appearance is why they provided me this service, then it's no wonder that they may have the idea that young black people don't tip well. Why would they when the service provided is subpar. read more

I went to get my nails redone by Emmy, she's my original nail tech for Gel X. And she did fantastic. I've been coming back to her because she knows what I want. N & J Nails is the rare exception. After visiting, you almost feel obligated to leave a 5-star review because they've earned it. For those who may not know, Tina and Ben haven't retired. They've simply moved on and created this wonderful salon. We weren't previous clients, but their reputation definitely preceded them. On a Saturday around 4:00 PM, my wife and I decided on a spur-of-the-moment manicure and pedicure date. Anyone who regularly visits nail salons knows that's usually a recipe for disappointment. Either the salon is fully booked, the wait is outrageous, or you end up with the technician nobody else wanted. Thankfully, luck was on our side. I went online and found only two appointment slots remaining. We selected our services, submitted the request, and within five minutes our appointment was confirmed. Shortly afterward, we received a phone call confirming everything and letting us know we could even arrive a little earlier if we'd like. Our appointment was scheduled for 5:15 PM. N & J Nails is located in Alexandria, just a few minutes from Potomac Yard and on the same block as Founding Farmers. Depending on traffic, the 9-mile drive from our home can take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour. Thankfully, we made it in just under 30 minutes. Parking was easy. There is both street parking and garage parking available. We chose street parking and paid $4 for two hours, but learned that garage parking can be validated. When we arrived, we were greeted by the same gentleman who had called to confirm our appointment. It wasn't the typical "you're the last appointment of the day, let's get this over with" greeting. It felt like they had genuinely been expecting us and were happy we were there. We were offered beverages and snacks, then settled into the massage chairs for our pedicures. My wife worked with Tina while I had Linda. After reviewing the menu and confirming our selections, they made a few recommendations and got started. My wife chose a spa manicure and spa pedicure with gel polish and builder gel to help strengthen and grow out her natural nails. My service included callus removal, nail trimming and shaping, cuticle care, orange slices, a sea salt and mint mud foot mask, relaxing massage treatments, oil lotion massage, and hot towels. The total before tip was approximately $250 for both of us. Before Linda began, I warned her that I'm extremely ticklish. I usually end up asking technicians to skip the foot massage because it's never enjoyable. Not this time. For the first time ever, I was actually able to enjoy a foot massage. Linda clearly knew exactly what she was doing. There were a couple brief moments during the callus removal that tickled a little, but compared to every other pedicure I've received, it was minimal. The scrub, water temperature, calf massage, foot massage, and overall technique were absolutely perfect. The finished pedicure was flawless. Smooth feet. Perfectly trimmed and shaped nails. No pain. No bleeding. No rushing. What impressed me most was her attention to detail. Even after I would have been completely satisfied, she continued checking, refining, and perfecting her work. She clearly takes pride in what she does. The manicure was equally impressive. Every nail and cuticle received the same level of care and precision. Nothing felt rushed. Everything looked clean, polished, and professional. The hand massage was fantastic as well. I actually started writing this review on Saturday but intentionally waited until Monday to finish it because I wanted to see how everything held up. Two days later? Still perfect. My wife wrote her own review specifically for Tina, but she was equally impressed. Both Tina and Linda were exceptional. Throughout the appointment we shared laughs, had great conversation, and by the end it felt less like visiting a business and more like spending time with people who genuinely care about their clients. Even Ben stopped by toward the end and joined the conversation. That's what makes N & J Nails special. The services were excellent. The salon was spotless. Throughout our visit, staff continuously cleaned and maintained the space. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and relaxing. Most importantly, every person there genuinely seemed to care about delivering the best experience possible. Ratings: Service: 10/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Value: 10/10 Overall Experience: 10/10 Worth the Drive? Absolutely. Would We Return? Without hesitation. Great service. Great location. There were only three workers, which I understand, but it was still frustrating to wait that long with an appointment. The pedicure also felt rushed. Usually you get lotion and a little massage, but none of that was included. At that point I just wanted to get my nails done and leave. For my manicure, the technician used a portable UV lamp that made my nails burn. It was really uncomfortable, and he didn't seem concerned when I mentioned it. I got a French tip, and you could clearly see my nail beds through the polish. When I told him I wasn't happy with how it looked, he just said it was my natural nail instead of trying to fix it. The most disappointing part was the quality. I tipped, left, and in less than 24 hours my thumbnail had already chipped. That has never happened to me before not even when I do my own nails at home. I ended up going to a nail salon in South Carolina, and they immediately told me the nails weren't done well and that they wouldn't last. They also added a better nude base color so you couldn't see my nail beds anymore, which made a huge difference. That showed me that my nails could have been done correctly at Old Town Nail & Spa, but they simply weren't. They also told me more chipping was likely to happen. I paid a lot of money because I wanted my nails to look nice for a wedding that weekend, and instead I got poor-quality nails and disappointing customer service. Sadly, I won't be coming back.
