She makes you comfortable from the get go and is enthusiastic about helping you achieve what you want. I found her literally yesterday on Yelp because of her incredible reviews. I then looked at her Instagram and knew I'd have an awesome experience. She knows exactly what she's doing and how to do it. I went in for a brow waxing appointment ((that she was able to make happen VERY last minute)) and asked a ton of questions, which she happily and thoroughly answered. She explained every step of what she was doing, and we chatted through the appointment like old friends. I ended up asking about brow tinting, and because it was so affordable, I got that too. I am SO happy--it was my first time with tinting, and I now actually have the eyebrows I've always wanted! I should also mention there was zero irritation after the appointment, when usually I have redness at my usual salon (About Faces). Thank you for being so awesome Kourtney! I will be back!

I also have to note that I've been to a few different places for a Brazilian wax and this was the quickest and most PAINLESS wax I've ever ever ever gotten. 10/10 would recommend.

Before I start, I want to mention that I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews. Honestly, this rating…read morefeels more like a 2.5-star experience because there were some positives. My nail technician, Jocelyn, was kind and did her best. Unfortunately, what I witnessed during my appointment completely overshadowed the experience. A friend and I visited Blue Sky Nails & Spa during a long layover from Baltimore Airport. We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming host and then directed to the pedicure area in the back. Everything started off well. My nail technician was Jocelyn, and my friend's technician was Mimi. Jocelyn had already been working on my service for about 15 minutes when Mimi arrived to begin my friend's appointment. What happened next made both my friend and me extremely uncomfortable. Jocelyn had positioned her cart in a spot that wasn't bothering anyone and wasn't interfering with another guest receiving a pedicure. Instead of politely asking for space or moving her own cart, Mimi forcefully bumped Jocelyn's cart and told her to move. What followed felt less like a workplace disagreement and more like bullying. The interaction continued in front of customers, creating a very awkward environment. To her credit, Jocelyn remained professional and focused on her work. She stayed quiet for most of the exchange and simply explained that the behavior was inappropriate in front of guests. Eventually the situation settled down, but the tension remained for the rest of our services. I don't know the history between these two employees, and frankly, that's none of my business. What I do know is that customers should never be made part of workplace conflict. My friend and I were both uncomfortable, and at one point I genuinely wanted to stand up for Jocelyn because the situation felt unfair and unnecessary. As for the pedicure itself, it was good overall. Unfortunately my gel polish started lifting and peeling less than a week later. I appreciate that many people have had great experiences here, but this was ours. It was disappointing, especially because I brought a friend there after a long flight hoping we could relax and enjoy ourselves. My hope is that Blue Sky Nails & Spa creates a more supportive and professional environment for its staff because what I witnessed that day was not something customers should have to see. I spent $78 for a Lavender Spa Pedi with gel polish.

I provided it and also mentioned that it was my first visit. He asked that I sign in, expressed his appreciation for my visit, and asked if I would like a drink. I was assigned to Michelle, who introduced herself and was extremely pleasant and kind throughout our interaction. I asked about the price because I did not see any signs posted. I'm happy to say that the amount I was quoted was exactly what I paid at checkout, which I paid in cash. Since many establishments now charge credit card fees, I came prepared to avoid that issue. Overall, the time spent, the atmosphere, and the aesthetics of the salon were great. I would visit again if I'm in the area.

The salon is always very, very clean. I always wear my hair and flat twists. I've tried multiple stylists at the salon, but I highly, highly, highly recommend Breanna, she is very skilled. I've booked my last two appointments with her and I don't think I will go to anyone else. Please note that they are cashless and they make you pay the associated 3% credit card fee.

The owner always explains why she…read morechooses certain products or techniques, and her motto is: "Not all hair can use the same products. It's the product and the technique." She can really work some hair! So I started looking for that same passion here in Maryland. I came across Asili Hair Care Center in Linthicum, MD, which specializes in natural hair. I called and made an appointment for November 1--10 AM for a two-strand twist with Breasia and 11 AM for a trim with Lashinae. I was told only managers do trims. The young man who washed my hair, along with Breasia and Lashinae, were all very pleasant. The conversation and atmosphere were great, and I tipped each of them $10 (not to make it about me, but to highlight how great they were). The wash was excellent, even though they forgot the free steam treatment--but that was fine because Lashinae said I could get it on my next visit. My two-strand twist came out very nice. Lashinae even used the white coat demonstration, just like the stylist I follow online, to show me why I needed a trim--which I already knew. So naturally, I assumed she was giving me a trim. When I went to pay, the total was higher than expected, but that was fine because she explained that for first-time clients, it's considered a haircut, not a trim. Fast forward to November 15--two weeks later--I took my twists down. Everything was fine, the twist-out was beautiful, and I received a lot of compliments. On November 19, I washed my hair and noticed it was uneven--longer on one side and very long at the top. I called the salon to speak with Lashinae about correcting the $64 issue. The person who answered said she wasn't in. When she asked if she could help, I said I would rather talk directly to the person who cut my hair. That's when she told me she was the owner. I explained the situation and that I didn't notice the uneven cut until I washed my hair. The owner responded, "Well, it's been almost a month, so you'd have to pay full price for another haircut." I didn't raise my voice or get negative--at 65, those days are over. I simply told her it hadn't even been three weeks, and I wouldn't have known until I took the twists down. She repeated that she couldn't see my hair and that they don't refund. I didn't argue. I just said, "Okay, thank you." What I don't understand is how some people open a business because of their talent, but don't get the training in business management needed to keep first-time clients coming back. She didn't just lose me--she cost her employees a returning client and future income. I run a business myself. I can count on one hand the few times a customer wasn't satisfied, and I corrected the issue immediately. Those clients are still with me, still referring others. Young business owners, please do better. We want to support you, but a few make it hard. So now I'm back out here trying to find another natural stylist. GEESH!
