I came here twice to have the soles replaced on a pair of $400 shoes. The first time, the owner used a softer rubber that was perfect--comfortable, quiet, and exactly what I needed. After about a year of wear I brought the shoes back for the same service, but the soles were replaced with a much stiffer rubber that made the shoes noticeably loud. I politely returned and asked if he could redo them using the same softer material he used the first time. Unfortunately, he was not happy about the request and wanted to charge $75 to correct it, even though the result wasn't the same as what I originally received. I really appreciated the quality of the first repair, which makes this experience disappointing. I was hoping for consistency and better customer service. read more

Beware! His service & attitude are mercurial at best with no professionalism. I recently brought in a pair of shoes, worn only 1x to simply have a heel tap repaired and he ruined them. He literally changed the color of the shoe which was not requested & left glue in the inside of the shoe. When we called him out on it, he then accused us of lying about the age of the shoes & said they were old shoes even though I showed him the receipt. He then said he'd fix it, so we allowed another week but he did not do so to our satisfaction. I asked him to refund my money for the service since he did not perform it as requested, I did not ask him to pay for the shoes, and he refused, going to the back room. If he had simply acknowledged the issue, no problem but given the poor attitude & accusations, we're done. I now know why he wants cash up front as there isn't a credit card company to help with disputes. I may need to drive a few miles further but it will be worth it as Yelp has other shoe repair services with good ratings. read more

The owner did a very poor job of gluing the soles of my mothers shoes. They're expensive shoes, (Mephisto) that retail for over $300 because they're hand made in Portugal. She asked him to fix them and he refused. He and then threatened to hit her when she told him she wasn't satisfied with his service. "Shut up, or I hit you!!" That's EXACTLY what came out of his mouth! So my mother said "You're threatening me??! You want to hit me?!" "Yes! I want to hit you right now!" We didn't give him the chance to carry out his threat. We ran outside, and immediately called the police. We also were afraid he might have a weapon, so we got out of there fast. I'd love to see if he would threaten a man! Probably not! read more

I have been going here for 10 yrs always had great work on my boots. BUT do not have them do your purse! They ruined my purse and tried to put pink paint on the damage and rusted some of the rhinestones. The reason I'm never going back ever is that the owner didn't even apologize nor try to make it right. He wanted to argue! Not good! I had to pay in advance which is his custom... so if they ruin your stuff you're just out of luck . The purse had never been used but was in storage and wanted to have it just freshened up. I am surprised at the poor reviews for this shoe repair. I have had several pairs of shoes repaired here from top brands such as Tory Burch, Coach, etc. and the repairs have been good and have even gotten a couple of pairs repaired that other shoe repairs stated could not be repaired, at competitive prices. My only disappointment was using a recommended leather cleaner on a leather chair, that was too strong chemically and dulled the finish, but shoe repairs have been great and I take all of my shoes here. read more

I paid $55 to fix a heal and get shoes polished. When the heel fell off he wanted to charge me to repair the heel. He said I broke the shoe. I told him he didn't repair it correctly. When I told him I would not come back if he charged me he said he never wanted me to come back again. He fixed the heel, but was absolutely repulsive in his behavior. I cannot believe this guy is still in business. I've been coming here every two years or so for about 8 years thinking... okay - maybe, I'll give him ANOTHER chance since he's still OPEN and maybe this time, he'll do a better job... but every time he does a seriously unprofessional job!... He puts forth no effort in detail or craftsmanship in his work!.. And will not think twice to destroy your belongings that you've entrusted him with. The first time I brought him a pair if Donald Pliner silver dress shoes to clean. He ended up choosing whatever beige-like color he felt matched 'good enough' and discolored the entire shoes. I never asked him to polish them with a different color. Just clean them, the best he could. And if he couldn't - please let me know before changing the color of the shoes. I took them back to Nordstrom, where I bought the shoes, and they said they couldn't do anything but darken them to black or brown to salvage the hideous color he polished them with. 2 years later, I brought him a light brown leather Gucci purse and asked him to clean it. Assuming, there could be no harm done with simply cleaning the purse. I couldn't believe my eyes when I picked it up. He AGAIN polished it with a very dark flat ugly dark brown color that makes the bag look fake!... It doesn't even come close to the matching wallet!... I haven't used the $750 purse since. I was crushed :( A couple years later, I had a baby, gained some weight and had a pair of Marc Jacobs black leather boots that were a little tight on me. I saw that he was still in business and thought - what am I missing?... I'm going to try him once again since I live two blocks away. I brought the boots in and asked if he could stretch them out a little. He said "sure"... Nervously, I left them. After I picked them up, they were so off - waaay off. One was so much bigger than the other, so I went back and after a couple tries - he couldn't seem to get them to remotely match in size. So I gave up. I didn't expect them to perfectly match in size, only to be able to wear them comfortably. He couldn't pull it off. And finally, 2 years later, last month I dropped a pair of leather ballet-like shoes off to have him stretch them out a bit up in the front by the bunion toe for comfort - since they were tight there and in the heel. I thought id be safe as long as he didn't clean or polish the color (given he's terrible at matching) he did suggest inserts lifts that helped the stiffness in the heel, which I admit, was the ONLY thing he's ever done right. Once I picked them up, they looked like as if he took the butt of a screwdriver or tool and pushed one shoe (bunion area) up to loosen it. It literally left a round convex circle shape in the area I asked to be stretched. And the other shoe looks like again he didn't make any effort to hide that there was work done - he left dents and scratches, discoloration. Thank God - he suggested the insert lifts that remedied the stiff heel or he would've ruined the entire shoe. After all the years he's been in business, I'm shocked that he doesn't seem to care to improve his craft. I will NEVER go back to this guy. My forgiving and hopeful nature has only gotten me frustration and loss from this shoe repair. I forgot to mention how rude and impersonal he can be and expects you to pay up front because he knows there's a chance a customer will not be happy with his work and will refuse to pay when picking up. I took my leather pumps in to get new toes put on and when I went to pick them up they looked worse than they did when I drop them off. He scrubbed the top of my shoe with sandpaper and tried to clean the back which wasn't even dirty-- he scrubbed it so hard he took the leather off. When I tried to explain the leather now not only looks different in the front but felt like sandpaper he argued with me. He told me that was the only way and that he was doing me a favor. I didn't ask him to do anything other than replace the toe--which looks awful. He completely destroyed expensive shoes and not only tried to blame me but was yelling at me, tried grabbing the shoes out of my hand and was extremely rude. No remorse whatsoever. I think I know what is going on with shoe repair shop's contradicting reviews. The first time I went there, I received a good service and the gentleman was nice enough. The second time I went there and asked for EXACT same service, except the first time it was for black shoes and the second time it was for white shoes of same model and everything else. This time the person said it cannot be done. And when I said you already did it on my other pair, he interrupted me and in a rude manner said it cannot be done. I believe the reason is that the son and father look very similar and if you don't pay attention to their age difference, you think they are the same. I have been here a few times. The actual repairs have been decent, but the aesthetic quality has never been great. However, with black shoes, it wasn't too hard to do ok. This time I brought in an expensive handbag with different shades of weathered looking leather. There was a thick leather loop that had broken and needed to be completely replaced, a few snaps, and a long should strap that had worn almost all the way through in one spot. When I dropped it off we discussed sewing the torn thin top leather, and putting some reinforced leather behind it to make it strong again. I came to pick it up and the snaps were repaired and looked good, but the leather loop did not match the rest of the bag at all. Even with that, I was willing to let it go and live with it. However, when I realized he had not even done the strap. I addressed it, but expressed concern about how he would repair it after seeing the loop. He explained something completely different than we had discussed when I dropped it off. It would have looked TERRIBLE! I said that was not ok and said I'd just not get it done. He tried to insist. I finally said that it would look terrible if he did that. He said I'd given him to use "any leather" on the repairs, which is absolutely NOT TRUE. Why would I want him to repair an expensive bag with inexpensive, mid-matched materials, and then allow him to literally destroy the design on the strap. He got angry when I asked to have it repaired another way and kept saying "you said I could use any leather". He clearly had me confused with another customer. Either way, the material he used did not match and the way he planned to repair the strap AFTER COMPLETELY FORGETTING IT the first time round would have been terrible! When I refused to let him repair the strap Even though I'd already paid for it, he got angry and said I was a bad person and not to come back again. I said I would definitely NOT COME BACK, but wanted all my money back. He said no, but when I persisted, he said only if he cut the loop off and kept the slice of leather he'd sewed on (REALLY???). I said fine. He cut it off, I took my money and vowed to write a review. I believe the language barrier may have partially contributed, but only in a small way. He just wants professional at matching materials and especially in the way he dealt with a repeat customer who was unhappy with his work. I will never go back! read more

I took my daughters boot in to repair a zipper. The guy told me it would be ready in a couple days. We came back in a couple days and it was ready just as he said. The experience was great.
