I'm very picky when it comes to my pedi. I like to get allllll the dead skin removed (like it should be) and this place did an awesome job! This place is a terrible as they say... A friend and I went to the Richmond location but after waiting 20 mins the owner suggested we go to her sister's salon on W.Alabama. She called to verify there was no wait so we headed over there. Sure enough there was only one other person when we got there. 10 mins later 3 other people arrive for services and since it was an hour till closing they started rushing. In total the pedicure took 15 mins! The basic manicure with NO POLISH lasted longer! Not only that they advertise the spa pedicure with mani for $35 which is suppose to come with all the things that a pedicure usually does...Tell me why I get to the register and they charge me $40 for a sloppy job. I even had to remind the technician to scrub my other foot because she was so distracted with getting the other clients started. I'm left very disappointed and I am not bothering with second chances. read more

Instyle nails is always a-okay. Clean and professional, though there is constant TV with sounds. (Boo! HIss!) Last time, I took the bait and sprung for the upgraded Shellac manicure. True to the promise, it's 3 weeks later and my nails have not chipped, but they have grown out beyond the point of okay. Imagine my surprise when I tried to remove the polish with normal acetone remover as instructed by my manicurist and NOTHING happened. Really. Nothing. This stuff is indestructible. Great for the longevity of my manicure; not so great that the manicurist failed to mention that a pro removal is a must, and actually told me that at home removal would be simple. (Per internet: 10 minutes in pure acetone wraps and maybe some more involved process). But, since it's Independence Day, I guess I'll have to wait another day to find out the details on removal since the employees of Instyle are rightly taking the day off. read more

clean, good service. odd pricing. my friend and I selected standard pedicures ($25) She was charged $5 (extra) to remove polish and i was charged $5 to remove calluses. When asked about the extra charge I actually said, "that's okay then, don't remove calluses" (as I was confused and had selected my pedi pricing and didn't want to pay extra.) She sloughed off the dead skin and charged me anyway. It was very pleasant overall - we didn't understand how the polish removal and callus removal were not included. I won't go back but it was clean and they were nice. I just wish they charged the price they need instead of negotiating after it starts, or explain it's only a soak and polish (?). read more

I find the poor reviews for shellac on here absurd. I have gone to this salon for years and have always been especially happy with the quality of their work (see my photo). After reading some of the bad reviews I wonder if the women in question were communicating well with their technicians. Some of us are far more sensitive than others. Water too hot? Say so! Pressure too rough? Say so! And good luck finding any salon in Houston that will not only complete your nail services but will also massage your calves, shoulders and hands for this price. I prefer to keep this place my own secret but wanted to post a photo and saw some recent bad reviews and had to speak up. Totally not deserved. One of my absolute favorite Houston rituals. read more

I came in this afternoon around 2:00 for a polish change on my hands and a spa pedicure. For a deluxe pedicure this was extremely sub par. She used very little product, she hardly shaped my toe nails and entirely skipped over the callous removal (which is clearly stated on the menu as apart of the service). Once she started to polish my nails I knew I would never be back. Thick and gloppy. She didn't give anytime between coats top dry. Applied all three coats to one hand then the next. When I asked her to please let each layer dry before applying another the manger came over and began to argue with me. Like you have got to be f@$&/#! Kidding me! My fingers and toes are still wet hours later!!! Don't waste your money here. Tons of nail salons everywhere, go anywhere else. read more

I've been going to this salon for over four years and it has maintained its cleanliness, great customer service, and my mani/pedi lasts longer than anywhere else. For $30 you get a spa mani and pedi plus a deep neck/shoulder/upper back massage while you relax in one of their leather massage chairs. They will get busy on weekends but they have enough chairs and staff to handle the walk-in flow and they will take time making sure you get the best service. I have no complaints for this place, they get 5 stars. I've recommended this to many friends who have also become regulars. read more

Good service for an affordable price! That said, they're pretty sanitary: they sterilize their equipment before every client. Their waxing services (not only nail services) are pretty decent, too. It just takes a while because they only have one room for waxing services. Bathroom is clean, too, which is always a good sign it's a clean place. My friend and I went on a saturday for a mani-pedi and splurged for the 40$ deluxe spa treatment that includes a sea salt scrub and hot towel wrap. Everything was clean and the tools were taken out of autoclave envelopes for each customer. It was pretty busy, but with 10 pedicure/massage chairs there was room for everybody and the wait was short in the end. BEST nail salon around! I've been going here for 19 years. Maggie (owner) and the rest of the ladies are all friendly, professional and really thorough. Even when I've been in a rush, they still manage to do a complete job. When I am not rushed, I fully enjoy the neck/shoulder massage the manicure lady does while the pedicure lady is finishing my feet. My husband and both teenage boys love to be spoiled here too. They keep a good eye on the queue of people coming in. Just had a spa pedi and shellac mani. WORST MANI/PEDI EVER as well as HORRIBLE service. They do a poor, unfinished job. Doesn't seem like it's done by a professional. When I asked the extremely rude woman who was doing my mani if she could clean up the polish on the skin around my nails, she yanked my hand and tossed it aside saying she'd do it later. Clearly, (from my pics below) she never did. Then, I happened to notice that the burgundy polish from my old pedi was showing thru the bright red polish from today's pedi (not a cute look) so I asked her if she could fix it. She rolled her eyes, hollered at the lady to come fix it and then continued to just give me dirty looks of inconvenience. I mean, asking her to file my nail shorter or remove polish from outside the lines shouldn't be considered too much to ask for. I didn't even complain about how uncomfortable I was due to her stretching my left arm across my body so SHE could comfortably do my nails from one place until she scolded me to relax my hand. To top it all off, I was told they didn't have those little foot liners for me to put on since I came in wearing boots so I had to walk to my car and apartment barefoot. When I'm spending about $50 for a mani/pedi service, I don't expect the royal treatment, however I do expect a little more than what I mentioned above. People go to get their nails done to come out relaxed with pretty nails....not scolded with a sloppy paint job to look at for the next two weeks. Could be the evil unhappy woman I had but the experience was awful enough to never go back. Plus it's not very clean in there. The good news is, there are several other options in the area where I can take my business! We were moving so I said goodbye to my Nail Lady at Paradise Nails back home and we just rolled into Houston from a very long and exhausting drive from San Diego. My nails were horrendous from all of the packing/unpacking and I was in a dire need of a fill. I came here due to the pretty decent reviews from fellow yelpers eagerly hoping to find my new nail place. I always get pink & whites and usually just need a fill every 2 weeks. I came here and was very dissapointed because they do nails differently here than in California? I dont know if it's just this nail salon, but their technique here sucks! My nails look like crap and I hate the way they look now. Not to mention my fill was extremely overpriced considering how they look. I dont know if this was a fluke, if all nail places are like this here or what? But I'm scared I'll never have nice nails again. My gel mani looks fine, but the lady who did my pedicure scrubbed one foot and not the other. I pointed this out and she said she was going to do it later. Pretty awful salon. I really should have paid more attention to the poor ratings but when there are so many 4/5 stars and 1 stars, it's difficult to know who to listen to. I went to the salon a few weeks go with my mom. We were in an out within 20 minutes (way to short for a mani/pedi). I can handle unfriendly nail technicians as long as they do a good job. However, my mom and I left with some of the worse mani/pedis we've ever gotten. Our nails were literally filed on a slant, polish was left all over my nail, they used dirty and unsanitzed tools with other people's skin still on it, removed NONE of the dead skin, to name a few. They then were upset with the 20% tip we gave them. Sure, you may luck out and get the one good technition, but I wouldn't risk it. Overall, I was incredibly disappointed. read more

I've been coming here for 5 years and absolutely love it there. Maggie and Angela are amazing and always take great care of me. I always get complimented on my nails and the shellac usually lasts close to 3 weeks for me. They also give a quick little complimentary massage which is super relaxing, the highlight of my visit haha, but I think you can pay an extra $6 for 5 additional minutes. Peggy is a doll! I was in the area and decided to stop in for a full set, despite the reviews. She was very detailed and took the time to file all my nails perfectly in the shape that I requested (coffin nails). She was genuinely nice, and didn't talk my ears off with any of the typical small talk (you have boyfrann, etc). The shop isn't glamorous or anything, but I don't care for all of that anyways. It's a good place to stop by for an in and out pedicure. I'm not sure how the other nail techs are, but I'll definitely be back to see Peggy. read more

Came here for shellac manicure and pedicure. Lady doing my toes was so rough she cut me on both of my big toes and made me bleed. She wiped it with some solution that made it burn! She held pressure to make it stop bleeding, but never looked at me or apologized :( Needless to say, my toes were sore for a few days... never coming back. read more

Went in for a Mani/Pedi. Both of the woman that did my nails were chatting it up and not paying attention to what they were doing. I want a small design on two of my nails and they charged me $6 and it turned out terrible. After showing my frustration they did nothing to make it better and I ended up walking out unhappy. My sister and I went to this place on a whim one day. What a terrible experience! Boo! They only had a couple of people there but rushed us like we were interrupting their "down time". They did such a horrible job on our nails that it was hard to even believe. So when we spoke up and asked for them to please correct them and they got really rude. Awkward awkward experience! Came here with a girlfriend last weekend, and although, we weren't impressed the day of, with a pedicure you've got to give it a bit of time to see how the treatment lasts. First thing they did, which I hate, is that they pulled an up-sell on my friend and I. The pedicure should have been about $23, but it ended up being $30 because the woman asked me if I wanted an additional service without making it clear that it was going to be more expensive. Usually I can catch that, but typically things like leg exfoliation are a part of a standard pedicure so I did not realize what she was asking. I run, a lot, and I hadn't had a pedicure since my last half-marathon, so my feet were kind of beat up. The woman kind of did not know how to be delicate around my calluses (runner's badge of honor, please don't scrape those off it will hurt the next time I run and perhaps blister) and blisters, which is annoying. They only put on 1 coat of polish and nothing to protect that polish, so it's now a week later, I spent more on a pedicure than I anticipated and its chipping off. Probably not going to return, even for the cheaper version. read more
