The insulation crew finished yesterday and I wanted to give a shout-out to a fantastic job they did! They were very professional, worked hard, and addressed the minor suggestions that I had. It was a real pleasure to work with them! The job went better than I hoped. They worked with my roofing company. After the roofing company did the tear-off, the insulation company started right away to vacuum out all the old insulation. After all the insulation was removed, they air-sealed all the penetrations (with fire-rated spray foam) and then added a fluffy R38 insulation everywhere. And this was all via the roof, not dragging hoses and insulation through the house to get access to the attic hatch. Much easier for me not to have people going inside our house all day making a mess. The roofing job was delayed for 2 days due to possible rain and they worked directly with Insul Techs to adjust the scheduling, making it all painless and seamless for me. As part of my energy-focused remodel last year, I decided to convert the attic of my 1952 home to a conditioned (unvented) attic. This included closed-cell spray foam between the rafters and at the gable walls. After a lot of reading and many videos on youtube, I decided to use a product called UltraPure from Owens Corning, due to it's lower VOC content. Every insulation company I contacted had some excuse for why they couldn't use it (I learned later that this product has a separate certification process). So I called the manufacturer and asked them to recommend someone. They said they'd make some calls and and have an installer call me. Luis from InsulTechs called. From the very beginning Luis showed great flexibility in being able to work with my rigid and rushed construction schedule. They cleaned out all the old insulation, vacuumed out the attic, then came back to spray. We stayed at a hotel while the attic was being sprayed, so I didn't get to witness much of it. What I did see is Luis's dedication to making the customer happy at every step. Before, during, and after the job. A few days after the attic was foamed, we discovered that part of my master bathroom did not have attic space above it, and through no fault of the crew's, the eave area did not get sprayed. Luis had his crew open up the bathroom ceiling, came back to spray the eaves from the bathroom, then hired a drywall crew, at his expense, to repair the ceiling. After the job was finished, they came back once more to scrape up some overspray in the attic, and do another pass with the vacuum. I had a very good experience with insole text. The guys came out right on time and ended up replacing my gas fireplace in a few hours. They tried two simpler cheaper solution first but that didn't work. They had all the parts they needed so they didn't need to make a separate visit and a separate charge. I thought Angel and Wilson were very professional and knowledgeable. I didn't get a good feeling from some of the other fireplace companies I called. Some said they wanted to do a big inspection and cleaning at a fairly high price. Others said if they couldn't fix the problem it would require a subsequent visit and ordering parts. read more

We recently had Insul Tech do a job for us at our home in Lafayette. Their quote was very competitive with others we received. Our old (and I mean old) insulation was removed from our attic, the entire area sanitized and they installed new R38 insulation. Also they noticed the intake vent to our heater which had been ignored for quite a while, was very dirty and they offered to clean and install a new filter for no charge as part of our project. I am embarrassed to say it was completely clogged and was quite an undertaking to completely clean it, their key man persevered and freed the entire vent of dirt. Their crew was neat, clean and extremely efficient. They made sure appliances were returned to correct locations, rugs were vacuumed and the attic insulated completely.
