    Air handler and new ductwork

I could not be happier with the work that Eco Performance did to plan and install our new ducted Fujitsu heat pump system. The entire team was thoughtful, thorough, and immediately communicative from start to finish. Eco Performance also helped me secure two grants from Alameda County that significantly lowered our out-of-pocket cost. Kyle, who did our initial estimate visit and helped me onboard with the team was a patiently thoughtful listener, and also very kindly put up with my myriad questions and odd sense of humor - much appreciated! Abby did a thorough analysis of our home's needs when she came out to perform the manual J calculation, and she designed what I'm sure will be a very cozy system this coming winter. Nick and the installation crew were competent, tidy, amazingly efficient, and respectful not only of our property but also our geriatric kitty (the real queen of the house). And Denise, the project's coordination mastermind was an absolute rock - answering any question that I had immediately and helping me successfully navigate the nit-picky grant process. The entire team has my strongest recommendation. I feel so lucky to have stumbled across this company, especially for a project of this scope. Thank you!

Well insulated and sealed air handler in attic.

Earlier this year I hired Eco Performance Builders install a new heat pump system, remove my old gas furnace, relocate equipment into the attic, replace all ductwork, remove existing attic insulation, air-seal the attic, and eventually reinstall insulation. The experience was outstanding from start to finish. What really set this company apart is that they actually performed proper Manual J load calculations to size the system--something almost no other contractor I contacted was willing to do (load calculations are code required by the way). Every other quote I received assumed a system size based purely on square footage and would have resulted in a dramatically oversized system. Instead, this team took the time to measure, assess, and design a system tailored specifically to my home's demand. They even performed a blower door test to quantify air leakage--another thing no one else offered. As a result, I ended up with a 2.5-ton heat pump. Meanwhile, all other companies wanted to replace what was there (4-ton) or go even higher (5-ton). One company wanted to put in a 100k BTU furnace which is absurd. Their design work was thoughtful and meticulous. The Manual J and Manual S calculations they did ensured that the system was sized properly including duct sizes and lengths. They showed attention to detail with locating and aiming registers to reduce duct lengths (less energy loss due to being in the unconditioned attic) and to improve comfort (limiting air blowing on you in bed). They also took care to locate the ducts so they can bury them in the future attic insulation as much as possible. The on-site crew was excellent--friendly, respectful, and professional every day. They kept the workspace clean, coordinated work around my partner's daytime sleep schedule, and were incredibly flexible with scheduling overall. I've had to push back adding attic insulation multiple times so I can do a few attic projects first, and they've never complained or made it an issue (I still am not ready and they are fine with it). The resulting system has been working great since they installed the heat pump and air sealed in May. The system is basically silent and my house has been quite comfortable. I'm pretty sure the system has been more efficient than my old furnace based on my energy monitoring system that measures current to the unit and PG&E bills from last year, and this is without attic insulation. Regarding cost, you would think that EPB would be significantly more expensive especially considering they will do the proper design work. However, I got a few quotes additional quotes and EPB actually end up significantly cheaper than all other companies that didn't include any real design work! In short, this is the only company I found that actually does things the right way, prioritizing proper design and customer satisfaction. I thought this would hurt the bank but it didn't. I'm extremely happy with the results and would recommend them without hesitation.

We needed to replace a 24 year-old heating and air-conditioning system, Galaxy came up as number one of our first choice. We made an appointment, A gentleman came out, he emailed us a quote, a day or two later. When we had more questions, Galaxy sent out another gentleman to go over additional questions and we settled on the same, trane/American standard system . Within a week the full system was scheduled for install. The young men who installed the system were very respectful of the property very respectful of my father since his house is immaculate. You would've never known they were even there they cleaned up so well. They completed all the work in one day, which was shocking they went above and beyond and replaced a water nozzle that had been leaking under his house for who knows how long. We are forever grateful lifetime customers. We hope that you will be too. Thank you, Galaxy for your professionalism, hard work, above and beyond and work ethic. Ramiro, Mohammed and Vladimir were efficient, smart and professional...they did an outstanding job with the installation, took the time to explain everything and knocked out the install in just over 1 day. My husband and I evaluated three vendors around the area in great detail and despite Chill coming out slightly more expensive than others, we felt they were the most thorough and comprehensive during the consultation (and the many follow-up questions I had). They were also able to squeeze us into their busy schedule so we could get AC before the heat wave! During installation, they ran into several challenges with placement of the new unit and some wiring that needed more attention. They worked through and around them to make everything work out in the end. I really appreciate their flexibility and expertise to navigate all the roadblocks without changing the scope of work. TIP: Measure the space where the unit is going to be placed and make sure the new unit will fit OR that you discuss this before the project starts.

He said the problem was the starter and said he could fix it for $460. While he was fixing it, I looked up the price of the part. It was $25. He was here for only 15 minutes. After the repairs, I asked him how much of the $460 was for parts and how much was for labor. He said about 50% for each. I then let him know that I found the part for $25. He responded that he doesn't buy the parts himself. So I paid $25 for parts and $435 for 15 minutes of work. Yes, I wish I had gone with another company.

What I appreciated most was that he didn't just start replacing parts. He thoroughly diagnosed the system, explained what he was testing, and walked me through the results. He showed me that the capacitor was testing low, the contactor was worn and pitted, and even performed a megger test on the compressor to verify it was still healthy. After the repairs, he confirmed everything was working properly by showing me the compressor amperage had dropped back to normal and that the system had an 18-degree temperature split. Keon was patient with all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. He explained the pros and cons of the recommended repairs, including the hard-start kit, so I could make an informed decision instead of feeling pressured. I really appreciated his transparency and professionalism. By the time he was done, our AC was cooling properly again, and he even worked with us on the final price. If you're looking for an HVAC technician who is knowledgeable, honest, thorough, and takes the time to educate his customers, I highly recommend Keon Garcia.
