I heard about Dr. Birrer's ability to install a crown in one sitting. Also I don't have dental insurance, And I hate going to the dentist over and over again just for one procedure. I live in Southern California and knew it would be worthwhile to fly up to Seattle and have him install a crown for me. I had an old tooth that broke off. The broken tooth was giving me trouble, Food was getting stuck up in there every time I would eat and later found out that it caused a tooth right next to it to start to decay and needed attention as well. I was right to Pick Dr. Birrer and fly up to Seattle. he prepared measured constructed and installed the crown and filled the neighboring cavity all in one sitting. It was the most fantastic dental experience of my life I didn't even feel a pinch he was so careful and talented During this procedure. He went to the UCLA school of dentistry which is rated one of the best school For dentistry in the world. And his experience and talent shows this. He is honestly concerned with the dental health of his patients and their well-being. And his experience and talent shows this. you could tell he knows exactly what he's doing and does it incredibly well. For dentistry I always pick a dentist that went to UCLA because it's one of the best schools. Integrative Dentistry combines holistic dentistry with traditional dentistry and they also do ozone treatments for your sinuses and other things, and I have a problem with my sinuses I get headaches sometimes from allergy infections. It's really hard for doctors to diagnose this problem it's just getting a headache for no obvious reasons and you can't really get rid of it. So I took advantage of the ozone treatment, and I feel better a week later when I would normally get a sinus headache I don't have one this week. Evidently the ozone kills the bacteria's in your sinuses that can cause a sinus infection. I'm not sure about the holistic dentistry side or if the ozone treatment is part of that. And I'm not sure of the other holistic treatments they Perform . I'm sure they do a bunch of other holistic treatments as well I do know that Dr. Birrer believes that a lot of a persons health and well-being has to do with the health and well-being of their mouth gums and teeth if they have infections in their mouth it can migrate to other parts of their body like gut health heart infections liver infections kidney infections and other infections throughout your body, and the Bad bacteria from your mouth can go into your bloodstream and affect other parts of your body. And so he emphasizes flossing and brushing twice a day scraping your tongue with a tongue scraper which I had never heard of and using a mineral-based toothpaste when you brush your teeth as well as gargling with some hydrogen peroxide mouthwash. He says that the bacteria in your mouth are strong and have a hard outer shell and that in order to Combat them, you need to disturb them with the dental floss the tongue scraper and brushing and then you can use the peroxide mouthwash and brushing with toothpaste to clean them away but it's important to disturb them with physical abrasion in order to get them to rinse away, and or kill them with gargling and brushing. Maybe they anchor themselves to your gums and tongue and you have to physically move them around and loosen them up with a physical method before you use toothpaste and mouthwash on them. It's all very scientific and I'm not really sure if I understood it correctly. That's just my understanding, what I think I heard him say, how I understood it.So don't quote me on it. In conclusion his office is beautiful the location is superb Dr. Birrer is incredibly professional and knowledgeable the staff are excellent and there's some nice restaurants up in Seattle as well I also went on a beautiful hike On Rattlesnake Trail so all in all the trip to Seattle was well worth it. I personally feel like I saved enough money going to see Dr. Bramley and getting the proper treatment done the first time, that The savings paid for my airline ticket and food while I was up there. I was referred to Dr. Paul Rubin at Integrative Dentistry 2 years ago by my naturopath who said she detected an infection in my tooth (that didn't hurt). My naturopath wanted me to go to Dr. Rubin because he has a 3-D cone beam scan x-ray that can pick up infections that the regular x-rays cannot. Also because Dr. Rubin is a holistic dentist and I won't have to worry about my many chemical sensitivities there. I was quicker to listen to my naturopath this time (about her belief that I needed to have a tooth removed) because a similar thing happened about 5 years before that and my previous dentist was downright shocked to discover a horrific infection that the x-ray didn't detect upon pulling the tooth that my naturopath insisted must be taken out. I learned my lesson that lack of pain doesn't necessarily mean there's no problem. Both tooth sites are root-canaled teeth, something I will never EVER do again! With the 3-D x-ray, Dr. Rubin saw a significant infection at the base of my tooth that had also spread to the molar next to it. He said I needed an extraction of at least one tooth and maybe the other one too. He doesn't do extractions so certainly wasn't making this recommendation for profit. I went to a different holistic dentist to have the extraction done because Dr. Rubin said that I was a very complicated case (especially with my history). It turned out that I had black mold infection deep in my jawbone and the other tooth could not be saved. I now have a huge hole in my jawbone where the mold had to scraped out, but I shudder to think what could have happened if I had relied on typical x-rays and the infection getting worse year by year. Even those of us who brush and floss like we're supposed to tend to take our teeth for granted...until we don't have them. I sincerely appreciated the very competent diagnosis and recommendations by Dr. Rubin. Unfortunately, I hear that he is retiring, but it gave me such peace of mind to have his expertise and compassion when I was in a very bad situation. read more

Update: 7 years later, and they're still my go-to dentist. A few changes here and there, but all for the better I think! The staff that work the front desks, Ro and Erinn, are so kind and always answer any billing or scheduling questions I have. Morgan, one of their hygienists that I have been seeing for some years now, is amazing! She is thorough, yet gentle. I nearly fall asleep every time I am in her chair (if it wasn't for the fear of messing up her work, I probably would!). Dr. Do is my doc there now, and he is great as well. I've seen a few assistants over my time there so far, and David, Goldie, and Brenda are by far the best in the biz. They work so in-sync with Dr. Do, I don't think I've ever really heard them need to even talk to each other during my appointments - like mind readers or something - they just know exactly how to get things done, and efficiently! My check-ups always leave me feeling well looked after, and the filling I had to get redone of an old broken filling placed years ago feels exactly like my natural tooth - my tongue even left it alone afterward, lol! You'll definitely be in great hands with this office! I wouldn't even dream of looking anywhere else. read more

I tend to be very critical of Dentists. I have researched a fair amount about dental health. I also have unfortunately had some major dental issues and needed lots of work done. Hence the fact that I have done all this researching. I have been to a number of different dentists over the years. The fact that I give Integrative Dentistry 5 stars is truly saying a lot. While I continue to work on healing the symptoms of tooth decay, with some success, and freeing myself more and more from the need of dentists in general. When I do need to get some work done I feel very confident in the work being done by them. Everything they have done so far has been of the highest quality, hands down. I've been revolutionizing my lifestyle lately and changing to an organic diet, sustainable living, and naturopathic medicine, so "naturally" I decided to search for a "green" dentist who aligned with my holistic needs. Enter this dental office! They are BPA and fluoride free and completely holistic. They don't use mercury either, which is sooo bad for you. I actually had them take out ALL my silver fillings. Furthermore, they're actually competent dentists and the staff are super as well. Dr. Birrer is so nice and loves to teach you how to properly floss (I now floss daily!). I never like going to the dentist but I figure when I need to, I want what's best for my body, not just what my insurance can cover. Speaking of which, they're not in-network with anyone so most have to pay upfront for treatment. A friend referred me to Dr. Marder after I came to suspect I had mercury poisoning from years of amalgam fillings in my mouth. I got an appointment right away, and the staff took extra care to welcome me and get to know me. Dr. Mitch Marder is the best dentist I've ever had in my life. His approach is so personal, so focused, so holistic. He is just a good friend now, he cares so much about the whole person he is treating, and is so approachable, so open, so completely honest about what is happening, what needs to happen, what can be left alone for now. When my dentist recently retired and my hygienist moved out of state, I was transferred to Dr. Short and Rus, a male hygienist. I was a bit nervous about starting over with providers I didn't know, and biased, I admit, against male hygienists. The receptionist suggested I give Rus a chance. And I'm so glad I did! The team here at integrative dentistry is amazing. They squeezed me into a cancellation spot this morning for a routine comprehensive cleaning, which gave me the chance to meet Dr. Short. He obviously cares about his patients and goes the extra mile to figure out how to solve your dental problems that are not just your standard ones. Dr Whitton and the nurses are very educated, and professional and in general awesome. They were able to restore health and hope into my dental plan that also ft within my values and needs. UPDATE: Dr Whitton has left and over time I have noticed something odd going on in this practice which no one at practice will be forthcoming about. I'm not a big fan of shots but they have a technique using a pulsing device that distracts enough that you can't feel the needle. Love that they can make crowns in house so you don't have to wear a temporary crown while a permanent one is being made off site. They are also super conscientious when removing amalgams that might contain mercury, their protocol is much more safe and extensive than what my previous dentist provided.
