We happily accepted and scheduled a time for them to come out to redo the door. They sent Anthony out to repaint, reinstall, and redo the frame and trim. I'd been having a hard time finding a door installer for my front door and garage entry. I signed up with Home Advisor and they sent out a guy for the job. I told him to install the front door and what I wanted for the trim, craftsman style. Halfway thru I asked him if he had ever installed a door before. He said "once before". It needs the windows and bedroom doors to be open in the evening and/or overnight so the cooler air from outside can be ventilated through the attic. Our problem was that we don't want our cats climbing over us, as would happen if we left the bedroom doors open at night. We contacted several door companies and Danny gave us the idea to install louver doors. This works out great, as they allow ventilation without the doors being open and they look really nice as well. I contacted a few door companies to inquire about installing an already-purchased door slab into the existing frame. Why didn't you buy a pre-hung door? They all said. Well, i was looking to save a few bucks. The door was non-refundable and i needed it hung. I'd have done it myself, but the last thing i wanted to do was make a mistake and end up with a ruined door. I called danny up and explained to him what i was trying to do. He offered to pick the door up from the retailer and do it the old fashioned way - the way fewer and fewer professionals are able to do it. He drilled and mortised out the lock hole and hinges. I am absolutely not okay with how I was treated by this unprofessional man! I think it shows complete lack of "integrity" for someone to ask where I live and then once they find out Newport Beach -they decide to throw out an exorbitant number of $550 as a test bait figure for what he knows is a very simple job - (which was sliding a rubber door sweep into a metal groove and adding a sweep -threshold to another door)!!! I don't think it's ethical or honest to try and charge $550 for this work and when I questioned him and tried to get clarifications--he raised his voice, mumbled something, and then was rude as hell and hung up on me. He obviously was offended by me try to pose clarifying questions or doesn't like people asking him a simple question! Now... he did recognize that he was unprofessional with me and I could tell he felt obligated to apologize via txt but I know he honestly doesn't give a flying flip per his demeanor and attitude/verbal inflection towards me! In my opinion this guy isn't interested in certain work unless it's cherry picked and the overpriced figure is ignorantly accepted by the prospective customer. Learn how to treat customers! In particular women! Very demeaning in conversation!!! Sara: your response is absolutely nothing but an excuse for a family member or husband or whoever he is. There should be zero tolerance for the way in which I was treated and predatory fee schedules/ practices based on zip codes should be eliminated. It cost me $8 for the rubber piece on my door shown below and it took about 10 seconds to slide it into place. I have to replace the front entry doors and learned that most door companies just order the doors for you. You have to find an installer to install the doors, a painter to paint the doors and a locksmith to install the locks! I called up Integrity Woodworking and talked to Danny who says they can do all of these things. Danny came on 3/4 to measure. I had to pay him $95 for this call. After I selected the door, he emailed me a quote for $5,500+- before tax for the doors and job. When it did not say what kind of lock or hardware or paint he'll use, I text and email him to find out. Every time I post a question it would take days to receive an answer. It averaged 2 questions a week for an answer. I also asked Danny if he could give me the same finish for the interior side as the rest of my interior doors which he had seen when he came. He then told me that his painter would not be able to do that and he did not want this job. I tried to find another installer but most would not even come to measure. On April 17 at 8:14 am I texted Danny and asked for my professional/actual measurements of my doors. I then realized that day was a Saturday and the office is closed Sat. & Sun. I thought I would not get a reply until the next business day. But, at 6:21 pm that Saturday I got a text from Danny: "Sorry, can't find them." My first thought was, it's dinner time on a Saturday, he's probably not at the office, did he even bothered to look?" It is very disappointing that I paid $95 for those measurements and did not get them. After over one month of dealing with Integrity Woodworking, I have to start the process all over again. read more
