The place should be called mid coffee for premium prices. La Monarca four doors down you can buy two premium cups for the price of the one you'd get at interlude. Tried it twice. First time I went "cheap" with the vanilla latte which was like seven something and it tasted like plain ol' milk. The second time I said alright let's go for the specialties and the barista sold their take on the Spanish latte to me as a must try and definitely worth the risk of it just being another boring Spanish latte. It tasted the same as the vanilla latte I had initially got. Sort of comical and sad how they think it's alright to charge ten bucks for a small cup of milk. Nice interior with epic air conditioning tho so they have that working for them but I'll never buy another cup of milk from them again. read more

The cashier that rang me up was nice but I felt that the barista came off as rude. He called my name for my order and I was going to ask where my pastry will be coming out of. (It's a long workstation and it could've possibly been coming out from the other side). Before I can even ask the whole question he responds "IT'S NOT READY YET." He didn't yell but his tone made me uncomfortable. I get customers can be rude and impatient but if he had just listened to my question he would've heard that I wasn't asking "is my pastry ready yet?" To top it off once it was ready I couldn't hear the cashier because her tone was low. I awkwardly went to grab what I assumed was mine so I didn't have to deal with the barista again. Lovely coffee shop! After Lyft closed down, uptown was in desperate need of a new coffee shop and Interlude Coffee delivered. Although it is unfair to compare the two places, I find it important given the ongoing discussion amongst people who prefer Lyft (I disagree). While I do prefer the aesthetic ambience of Lyft coffee, everything else about this coffee shop knocks Lyft out of the park. For starters, the customer service here is infinitely better. The staff is incredibly inviting and the owner is truly passionate about his craft. Although it's relatively new, I see a strong community building here already, in a way Lyft was incapable of cultivating. Lastly, there's the coffee. As an absolute coffee loser obsessed freak, I can confidently say the coffee here is GOOD. So far I've enjoyed the cubano, flat white, and signature interlude drink. And while I've yet to try their cortado, my friend raves about it and claims it's the best in Whittier. read more

Great for a new coffee shop! Homemade syrups and strong coffee flavor were awesome. Just a little disappointed I didn't know the Interlude drink was going to be unsweetened or perhaps the girls on bar forgot my sweet and condensed milk they seemed a little confused as the crowd of customers poured in. $8 for a basically short Spanish latte is crazy work but again the flavor was fine and better than the average place. the description of the Interlude latte expectation had me trying to justify the price to myself. read more

Found this place and now I'm here twice a week. The interior is thoughtfully designed that feels upscale without being stuffy. Lattes are consistently excellent with vanilla being my go to. Extra hot too. Best part are the other customers who are also enjoying the drinks and the vibes. read more

I went to interlude today with my two toddlers. I usually don't take my kids to coffee shops because some aren't very kid friendly (understandable) but my experience here was great. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a man which I wasn't sure if he was the manager or owner but he was very friendly and made conversation with my kids. He made coffee suggestions and I went with the Honey Piloncillo Shaken Latte and the Berries and Cream Matcha. I was a big fan of the Honey latte will order again. The Matcha was also good but I expected it a bit more sweeter. Before leaving the same man asked if I would be taking my drinks to go or to enjoy there because of time I took them to go but he did say that they offer coloring pages for kids sooo with that being said I will go back with my kids to enjoy my latte there :) read more

I ordered 3 drinks but was only charged for 2. I think the owner was the one who told me but he gave me no energy. He checked and I wasnt charged. No, "sorry let me ring you up". He was just like anyway....he just said the cashier would ring me up. There was a line so I don't know if he expected me to wait in line again. I told the cashier and he ran me up. Tried Interlude Coffee today, June 5th, 2026. At first I was hesitant to go back into this place because it was Lift's old building, yet as soon as you step in you can tell the vibe is much different. Friendlier, cleaner, and better ambiance. The cashier was super attentive and friendly, and had great interaction. I ordered a pour over which ofcourse took a little minute but it was much worth the wait. They said the pastries are for Friday - Sundays, but the warmed cinnamon roll was impressively good. To be fair no coffee shop in Whittier really has a cozy vibe yet, they don't feel like a part of the community and they deserve time to get there. This morning I came by with my dog on a long walk. My old lady Labrador was parched and weak from the walk. So, I come in and ask for a water. As soon as I was given the water to my dog, the manager raised his voice in a non passive matter and said "no dogs allowed", this was surprisingly shocking because Whittier cafes are known for being dog friendly. I come here A LOT. I think the customer service is the worst. Yet alone their espresso tastes like dirt water. It seems like they hire people that don't know what they're doing. I've been a barista at high end family owned coffee shops all around socal and this was probably the worst espresso I've had. I care a lot about quality... Another point to bring up as a regular milk drinker it seems their options for alternatives are also limited (so not the best, if you like your options) They are going cheap with their quality and unfortunately Whittier doesn't like getting scammed with the price and quality of their coffee. Yet alone standards are high, with Tranquilo coffee in competition, it's true that Tranquilo is in the lead for the best coffee in town. Perhaps the owner can reconsider their relationships with the customers, because the vibes need to change before the coffee, then the coffee might actually be made with love. Intention matters and the intentions of this place seems careless and snobby. The vibes are dark and stagnate. I wish they can lighten up the place with the people that work there and the design of the place. It's a shame that this place can't level up to the location it's in. read more

my boyfriend and i wanted to try out this new coffee shop we walk in and start looking at the menu they have on a stand as we're looking at the menu the cashier walks up to the register and doesn't say anything. the person behind us starts saying his order and the cashier starts taking his order so my boyfriend and i move to the side so he could be helped since we weren't ready. the cashier then gives us a paper menu to look at and we move out of the way so people coming in can get in line. once my boyfriend and i are ready we get back in line and the cashier again doesn't really say anything as i'm ordering he cuts me off by saying or do you have any questions you guys were looking at the menu so intensely i don't want to give you anything you wouldn't like. i understand he was trying to probably be funny but we were already kinda thrown off by him taking the order of the person behind us instead of asking if we had question or something along those lines. the coffee was average the service was not good and the vibe based off our experience was also not good. 0 out of 5 would not recommend. read more

I went to Interlude today June 4, and I have to say it was well worth coming from Montebello to enjoy a great Flat White with almond milk. I also treated myself to a chocolate croissant. Let me start with the positive. The interior design is very "chic/rustic" and the minimalist decor is very much to my liking. I don't usually mind paying extra for services because lets face it , it's expensive everywhere. Paid my customary 20% tip and after 2 drinks and 2 pastries bill total was $38. Could of made my own "K-Cup"at home thrown some ice in it and it would of tasted much better then what we were served. The host taking our order was very pleasant . However the barista ( who looked like he was the owner of this place) barked at me when I almost picked up the wrong order. I apologized and I received a "how stupid can you be" expression from him in return. Next time I'll pick up a Starbucks and return just to enjoy the decor and watch people pay way to much for sub-standard drinks. Can you imagine? I'll probably be thrown out and banned for life. Hmmm...Not a bad idea.
