Pamela is a healer. That's not a word I throw around. I'm skeptical of most things in life. I find alternative medicine to be, for the most part, a big pile of "woo." I'm not spiritual, and scoff at religion. I think that if supplements were proved to work, general practitioners would prescribe them. I don't fall for water having memory, or good vibes being enough to cure cancer. When I say that Pamela is a healer, I mean that she actively, truly wants her clients to be well. Healthy. Happy. So don't be shocked if, when you leave her lovely, understated oasis on 6th Ave., you'll be pain-lessened - if not pain-free. I found Internally Happy on Lifebooker, and this is sincerely the first time in my usage of any of those Groupon-esque services where I feel confident I'll be a return customer. Without a doubt, this was the best massage I've ever had. Was it relaxing? Absolutely, but not in the fall-asleep-and-be-charged-for-a-nap-with-moderate-tickling sort of way that seems to be very popular. Pamela, upon reading (! actually reading! who does that?) my new client questionnaire, followed up on some of the key areas I had mentioned, and spent a great deal of time working on those deeply entrenched knots. It hurt. And it was supposed to. She coached me to breathe deep as she kept the pressure on, and I actually felt the knot loosening and travel down my body. Despite devoting a significant amount of time and pressure to my knotted-up shoulder blade, no other areas were neglected. From toes to forehead to fingers to thighs, Pamela kneaded every muscle with the strength and care that a true professional shows. This isn't a going-through-the-motions massage. This is a blissful piece of workmanship by someone who obviously loves her job and loves bettering the lives and moods of her clients. Highly recommend Pamela for a wide range of healing benefits for both bodywork and nutrition! This review is long overdue, but for a little history on my healing experiences with her: I'd been seeing Pamela for several years, for her wonderful traditional massages, when one day I woke up with a double crick in my neck, leaving me without any range of motion. None of my usual ways of treating a crick were working and then I remembered Pamela mentioning some other specialized techniques she does, so I contacted her to see if we could try something on my neck. Lo and behold, I left the session with almost full range of motion. Fast forward to this past year when I was having digestive issues that led to countless unnecessary medical tests. Pamela suggested I might have SIBO and encouraged me to see my doctor to get a breath test. Lo and behold, that's what I had and after being treated, I finally felt like a human again. Something that a dozen different MDs weren't able to figure out for me. I saw Pamela today for the first time and I couldn't be happier with my spur-of-the-moment decision to book an appointment earlier this week. Not only did she really take the time to talk to me and figure out my problem areas, she sincerely tried to work out each and every knot -- not a small feat, I assure you! The only "con" was that the room was a bit chilly -- but Pamela more than made up for it with extra blankets. I booked a 90 minute deep tissue in hopes of being healed/having knots eroded--or at least how i'd expect to feel after a $160 massage. I have visited Pamela twice for massages and both times they were exceptional. We travel quite frequently and have been to high end spas all over the world. Pamela is not an ordinary masseuse, she is truly healer (and at times I think she has some kind of super power that allows her to magically identify any bodily aches and pains without you even mentioning!). Pamela was great. She was very professional yet made me feel very comfortable in my skin. I had the Swedish massage, and she was very kind and asked me if I had any particular areas that I would like her to work on. She customized the massage just for me, and afterwards I felt AMAZING. The atmosphere was great, the aromas were fantastic, and I had my own private room. A really exquisite experience. I learned later after chatting that Pamela is very knowledgeable in many different areas, some that I haven't even heard of before! I am always weary of these hole-in-the wall, quick-in, quick-out places that seem to be everywhere. In my experience, they have claimed to be able to provide specialized service when they aren't really doing that at all. Not to even mention there may be one person with a license in the place and the person actually working on you probably isn't even licensed! And don't get me started on how unsanitary they are...No thank you. With Pamela, I know I am getting the real deal, and you can FEEL it. I went to Pamela to learn about what I should eat, what is healthy, and basically to help change all the bad habits I have built up over my lifetime. I wanted to be able to loose weight and maintain that in a healthy manner. This was an eye opener for me. I learnt so much about different foods and how to integrate them in my life. Not only does Pamela concentrate on weight loss and nutritional education but also on emotional eating, other aspects like your goals in life and holistic healing of your mind, body and soul.
