This place is easy to walk right past as the doorway is very narrow and there's not much signage, so navigate carefully or you'll miss it. I had chronic upper back tension that no amount of stretching or foam rolling was touching. I searched online and noticed Grand Nature has comparatively high Yelp reviews so decided to give it a try. The reviews are correct: they provide intense pressure during their massages, and there were a couple of points where I had to consciously breathe through it. My back felt looser the second I stood up, and the relief held for a week or two rather than days. A few practical things to know: tell them exactly how much pressure you want before they start, you'll hear other people's sessions through the curtains, and bring cash. I don't expect a place like this to deliver a high-end massage, but basic competency isn't too much to ask. Before the session started, I clearly pointed to a herniated disc and said, "No--do not touch." I kept it simple given the language barrier. Within ten minutes, the masseur leaned his full weight directly into that exact spot. I winced on the table. He laughed it off. At multiple points, he applied enough pressure along my spine to make it difficult to breathe. The environment didn't help. A staff member was on a loud phone call five feet away, separated only by a curtain. At the end, I was openly shamed for not leaving a tip. I hurt my back really bad this summer in July 2024. I couldn't bend my back forward and down at all. I was in excruciating pain, I couldn't sit for too long, and I didn't sleep well for 3 months. After seeing my primary doctor who prescribed me the muscle relaxers, and had numerous acupunctures sessions and PT under my insurance etc. I was in so much agony. My back got really stiff and it showed little improvements. Every morning, I dreaded waking up, sitting and walking in pain. It was literally the worst summer I had as I couldn't resume to my normal activities. Finally this morning (10/15/24), after two sessions at Grand Nature, I feel alive again. I had one deep tissue massage (if you're wondering, yes, it was very painful massage but the guy told me to go through it and I will feel better. He was right!) and just one acupuncture session - I woke up this morning feeling like a normal person again. I was so happy. 99% of my lower back and foot pain were gone. Including my left foot plantar fasciitis that lasted 4 months. I almost lamented myself for not coming here earlier so I could have saved myself so much pain and agony. To sum this up, I can't recommend them more!! These guys know what they are doing and how the body works. They are very honest about what's going on with your body and the steps you need to do with them to get well. Stop wasting money elsewhere and come here! They will take care of you. Just make sure you come with a strong mind to get well. It is going to hurt - no pain no gain, right? But damn it, you'll get yourself fixed. Look, ultimately, if you have back issues, pain in your muscles, and you want to get the appropriate fixes? Come here and let them help you. This is also a family business if you know them. Charlie is the owner, and Lin is Charlie's son. Lin does amazing acupunctures and he often handles the phone. They do get busy here and handle a lot of customers/clients. Therefore, make sure you make an appt before you come support this family business! To sum all of this up, this is a place that fixes your problems. It's not a random massage place where you come to get comfort. Point blank - why waste money at random massage places if they can't make your body flow better? $45/30 mins massage $60/hr massage $70/acupuncture session Optionally, if you can't take the pain, just do acupuncture! Last but not least, please tip them well. At least 15% as they are like physical therapists who use a lot of energy on your bodies. It is laborious. I've had chronic pain in my hands for the last ~ten years and going here for massage (weekly) and acupuncture (biweekly) has helped give me my hands back. That being said, the owner and his team are super in tune with the TCM meridians and easily find the knots and pressure points in your body. I could tell that my masseuse knew the tension in my shoulders was connected to the tension in my hips, and somehow working on my hips and glutes loosened up the shoulders! This is more like a sports massage than anything else. Having ran a half marathon last weekend, I felt the pressure and intensity was needed to put things back in alignment. However, I wouldn't go there for relaxation! More like muscle maintenance. Lol. The price is unbeatable and I found the experience to be professional and discrete. The way they went for my neck and traps with no hesitancy was so satisfying, compared to other massage parlors that always take it easy. If you come 5 times, you get the next massage free! Highly recommend - if your issue is knots/soreness, this is bar none the best place to go to fix it. The massages are intense (and painful), but you'll leave with absolutely no knots. The one caveat here is this: if you have an actual injury or serious inflammation, I would steer clear. Heavy pressure and deep tissue massage for these kinds of things actually makes the issue worse and I've experienced this a few times here since they dont often make a distinction between knots and injury. This is not a relaxing spa massage. I go to John or Cocoa at Fishion for that. This is a massage for someone who truly wants to address their problem areas and you will wake up sore there the next day. Charlie is a master. He doesn't go through the general motions like most spas. The massage will not be uniform and scripted. You will point out your problem and he will spend a large portion of his time working on that area. During the massage he will check in to make sure you are okay. Unlike what some reviewers posted, he will adjust. He is not mean. He is happy, welcoming, and friendly. For now, they are open Friday-Sunday. Appointments book up fast so plan for one the next day. I have a pretty severe chronic injury from about 4 years ago (weighlifting) that has impacted my mobility pretty badly. I'm pretty numb throughout my body and have very low energy in general. I started looking into massage about 5 months ago, and this is by far the best treatment I've ever had so far. Like other people have said, it hurts like hell but it actually fixes the problem. I've only been for 2 sessions so far, during the second one Kevin managed to get blood flow to my hand and I could fully feel my legs. I'm gonna keep coming here as much as I can while I remain in NYC. If anyone knows a place like this in the SF Bay Area (maybe even socal) please let me know. I have been searching for months! Charlie does not play around. I like my massages painful and have always said if I don't have tears in my eyes during the massage, it wasn't a productive massage. This is not the place to go if you want a massage with aromatherapy and relaxing spa music. Come here if you want real pain relief. Charlie is a long-time master of his craft and with a quick head to body touch can figure out exactly where your tense spots are. He immediately noted how tight my shoulders and neck were and detected a sore ("sour" in Chinese) spot on my right hip. I have chronic shoulder and neck pain from working at a computer all day, bad posture, and inability to find a pillow supportive enough for my big head. I have a high pain tolerance for massages and am generally not one to make noise or squirm during a massage - but this was intense. I left a pool of sweat on the bed and sweated/cried off my Stila 24/7 waterproof eyeliner. I had remaining soreness for a few days to the point of not being able to workout the next 3 days but also so much relief. It felt like I had lost 10 pounds of tension from my shoulders. 10-15 minutes before my second visit, I popped 400 mg of Advil, which seemed to help a bit. Highly recommend booking with Charlie ahead of time. The staff is also wonderfully nice; the lady at the reception let me charge my phone and poured me all the tea afterwards. :) read more

I've been a customer for years! They are really great. I usual use Charlie but I've used pretty much everyone else there too and they are all great. Everyone is pleasant. I get an hour massage and then cupping. They really get deep in there. It is not a simple spa massage at a salon. It hurts because they are getting all those knots as tightness lose. But after a day I'm feeling amazing. Like I can stand straighter. Way less back pain and really feel the results soon after. I highly recommend them if you really need to get the kinks out. Again it's going to hurt but if you have back issues and or an athlete. It's a must. Also as a woman I've always felt like my body was respected and have never felt uncomfortable during any session. I've been dealing with sharp pain in my left trapezius muscle for a couple months so I decided to make an appointment here for a 45 minute massage and 15 min cupping session. I read reviews that it was the most painful massage ever, but was worth it. I was not disappointed! A larger set asian man asked where I felt pain in the curtained room and he focused on my left side. I could feel myself crying at some points, but it felt amazing. After the deep massage, Charlie (owner) came in for the cupping session and this just released all the tension in my back from the massage. Don't come here thinking this will be comfortable.
