We took a red eye and then walked around for over five hours. We searched up foot massage and this was the first place that came up. Since it was only minutes from our hotel we felt this was a great stop. We walked in hoping to just get a foot massage but they asked if we wanted a couples massage - and we happily agreed. The 60 min massage was half and half feet. This was probably one of the best massages I've had in my life! I didn't catch the gentleman's name, but he was amazing. Also it was so incredibly affordable! My husband left his glasses in the room and the staff was so kind and accommodating locating them and keeping them secure until we got back. Don't get the body work massage -- it's not relaxing at all. They had me near the doorway as people were constantly leaving or coming in. They were also rude -- after I paid no one even instructed me where to go. The lady who gave me the body work massage was so rough. She never wasn't asked if I was okay. I decided not to tip and as I was leaving out the door she demanded me to go back to the desk. It was so embarrassing as if I didn't pay. It was my fourth time coming here and I have to say Rose is my favorite so far. I got a 90 minute deep tissue about 2 weeks ago. Very soft hands. She had an excellent flow,excellent pressure (I never had to ask for more pressure she maintained the deep pressure the entire 90 minutes!). Unfortunately, a lot of Massage Therapists can barely do deep tissue & even the ones who CAN will start off strong then slowly the pressure will get lighter because they don't have the stamina to maintain the deep pressure for the entire session time. Rose worked all my areas of tension,and was very intuitive in her work. I was really impressed with her skills! I'm SUPER picky about massages so if I like you,then you're PHENOMENAL! Lol. I've been getting really into self-care lately, but i've never tried a foot massage til I came here. The idea of it kind of weirded me out... but I saw people getting them when I first came for a body massage and was intrigued. The first time I came for a body massage, I got WRECKED. I was already sore from an intense workout the previous day, but they really dug deep into me. I tried to ask for softer, but I don't think the lady understood me... Needless to say, I think I am done with the body massages. I recommend if you like really deep, tough massages. I went back to do the foot massage which I absolutely loved, and went back 2 more times in the same week. My best friend visited and I also took her. It's cheaper to pay in cash - and I haven't had a masseuse who wasn't good at their job. I fell asleep on the last time. Terrible customer service. I had a bad experience on another occasion but wanted to give them a second chance. I should not have wasted my time. While my massage was ok the issue I have is they don't give customers clear information and don't listen. The first time I came I asked for 1.5 hrs and they stopped after one hour and refused to do the rest of my treatment. The second time I asked about paying with card and they did NOT mention they charge an extra $20 by paying with card. These are such simple things but make a huge difference to the experience. We called this place because it got decent reviews and was close to our hotel. They were able to accommodate both me and my husband with just about half an hour's notice. When we showed up for our appointment, they were ready, and they put us in the couples room, which was not necessary but was nice. When we called, they asked if we preferred a man or woman masseuse, which I also appreciated. The session itself was a 60-minute full-body massage plus a 30-minute foot rub. The gentleman who worked on me was good. He used a lot of force and a lot of forearms, and he kept commenting on how tight I was. I could've told him that lol, that's why I was there. But he kept at it and really did try hard to work on my trouble spots. There were some massage moves that were a bit weird to me, and I was somewhat entertained by how he always folded the towel covering me very precisely before moving to a new part of my body. But he definitely did enough for me to feel some relief, which was exactly what I was needing. The foot rub was awesome and I would highly recommend anyone do it. It really helped rejuvenate my feet for more time in NYC! And you couldn't beat the price.... $75 per person + tip. We had no real complaints about it. Was it the nicest massage place we've ever been to? No. It's on a second floor walkup and you kind of question your decision when you get there. Walked in here with my girlfriend on a Monday night around 10:30pm. It was quite empty and we may have been the only customers inside which was a good thing as we were able to sit down and get massages right away. I got the 30min feet + 30min body massage, while my girlfriend got the 45min feet + 15min body massage. We had to pay first before the massage, and I charged my credit card but opted to not write any tip on the receipt as I haven't had the service yet. The foot massage was really good. We sat down on leather reclining lounge chairs at the front and the lady oiled my feet + shins/calves, massaged for 30mins, and then used a damp hot towel to clean off all the oils. After that, the lady brought me to one of the private rooms in the back for my 30min body massage. I laid face down on the massage bed in just my underwear and had a deep massage on my back, arms, neck, and legs. She finished off the session by rubbing 2 hot stones on my back and then a scalp massage. Time flew by really fast and my whole body was so relaxed afterwards. When I finally got a room, I was undressing and she barged in, while I was completely naked. No knock, just barged in. I quickly grabbed a towel. She continued to shove her phone to me again. 3.5 stars The first time we came here I used a Groupon that was a back massage and foot reflexology. They charged me a fee on top of the Groupon. They did my feet for 1 minute maybe. I explained to the front desk asking when I would get the foot part because they have separate rooms and they were so rude saying are you not going to tip. I said after the foot massage before I leave. They said she did it. It was a whole scene because their English is not great. I ended up paying to add a foot massage The second time I went I did a combo 1 hour back and 30 minute foot which was a lot better. The price online is wrong it is a little more. PAY CASH. Because they wanted to charge almost $20 for a credit card fee. They wouldn't let me use the Yelp check in offer because "it would be too long." A lot of the massage focused on pressure points which hurt. I explained it hurt but it took up a good amount of the massage. Next time I would ask for less of that and more of a massage / rub, but I feel the pressure points they do to take up some of the time. The massage and rub was good though. It was a few minutes short I felt. I paid cash and tipped 20 percent and I feel they were annoyed with the 20 percent. They pulled it out and showed and were talking in another language. I thought they were going to pull out a calculator but I already did the math. I thought that was rude since it was 20 percent and made me feel like I should be giving a higher percent, which I don't think was warranted. If you want a super relaxing massage with oils and scents I would go to an expensive more known massage place. This is really good for the price in NYC. You're paying for what you get. I would come back for a quick cheaper massage. But it doesn't have oils or a scent or super relaxing. It does the job though when needed! Expect to pay 20 percent tip no matter what and feel like you need to give more due to their reactions. Also expect to pay cash to not get a huge percentage added. I would recommend for a quicker needed massage vs a whole nice relaxing experience. I think the staff and management need to do a better job being nicer and listening to what the people want and then if they go out of their way and it's relaxing and not pressure points then maybe someone would give over the normal (not even required) 20 percent tip. So far, I didnt get skin infection... but you know what I am gonna do when I get one. 14 year old and I decided to top off our lunch with a foot massage and found Renew close by. We got appointments immediately. Renew is definitely one of the nicer Asian massage places. When you walk in there is a little waiting area. To the left are the foot massage chairs and to the right is a hallway are the massage rooms. For a change I got a 1/2 foot & 1/2 back massage. Both were fantastic, firm, with just the right amount of pressure. 14 year old got a foot massage and enjoyed it as well. As we left we noticed this place had gotten super busy. HEED MY WARNING BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO COME HERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE COMING ON A GROUPON DEAL!!!!!! I found this spot on Groupon with a great deal "90 mins pampering package with custom couples massage" for $116. I was so excited because my body was in dire need of a massage and it was a steal! My boyfriend and I walked in for our appointment and were very nicely greeted by the front desk. Suddenly we got hit by "tax", I'm like okay no problem. She says $16 and I'm thinking "hmm that's a bit much" (16/116=0.1379*100=13.79%, New York State tax is only 8.875%) but I was willing overlook it and pay. In retrospect, it was a huge red flag...and I should've just left there and then. But I didn't so here's the rest of the story The massage was alright, very inconsistent. Massages performed on one side of my body was not performed on the other side. Masseuse was not considerate of my bruise that was clearly showing and just glided over it like it was nothing. I also have a lower back injury that just got worse because of the massage. I regret going there in all honesty. Mind you the title of this package was a PAMPERING session with CUSTOM massage. Before we start I pointed out areas to focus on and so did my boyfriend which were different than mine. The end of the session comes and guess what? They were not met. They just performed their basic routine on both of us (I could tell because of the sounds they make while massaging). Also there was nothing PAMPERING about this session. We were just given massages and kicked out. It was also cold in that room and was very noisy outside. Not so peaceful as the title made it seem. BUUTTT you know all this could be forgiven because the price you pay is the quality you get and I paid pretty little. Nonetheless, what was the MOST unforgivable was the fact that the masseuses were acting like watch dogs at the door making sure we tipped before leaving!! I am not a bad tipper, if I get good service I am tipping well since I also work in the tipping industry and understand. The total was $116, but I also decided to add the "tax" on there too, so it was $116+16=$132. Since it was cheap deal and I didn't want the masseuses to miss out on too much tip, I decided to tip 20%. I gave them the money to split between the two masseuses, then she just started verbally attacking me!!!! Saying I should give $20 more and I'm like wtf?!?!?!! Then she just kept saying things I couldn't understand. So I walked over to the front desk and talked to who I assumed to be a manager/boss. I showed him my math on the calculator and he said it was okay. Then the lady continued to verbally attacking me in Chinese and I'm like wth I'm tipping properly what more do you want from me?!?! If I came without the Groupon and paid full price of course I'd tip according to that price, but I didn't, I came with a Groupon price!!! If you have a problem with that then don't list your service on Groupon!!!! In the end I gave $10 more because she looked like she was going to attack me if I didn't give her more money... Leaving me to have tipped 27.57% for a rude a** masseuse with mediocre skills.
