I just read some of the negative reviews about Interstate, and I'm perplexed. We have been buying batteries from IB for years now and have never had any issues whatsoever. Today I replaced the battery in my wife's car, and we were helped immediately. I didn't have the original receipt, but they prorated the new battery anyway going by the sticker on the battery. I forgot to give the employee's name, buy he was extremely helpful and I was well taken care of. It's difficult for me to understand the negative reviews. read more

This place is trash. I bought a used battery with warranty. So I took the battery back because it wasn't charging after 3months they gave me a SUPER HARD TIME like Im stealing from them. But it's under the warranty. ( If a battery is defective, we will replace it with a used or refurbished battery.) Yes, I also check my alternator. They refused to replace the battery and they know the battery is not chargeable. And when I ask him for a print out of the warranty paper so I can show then, they just said look man I could tell you on top of my head on the warranty. After 30 minutes of arguing, you guys finally give me a used battery. You guys need to do something about your shitty manager skills. They just said I see you in the system you have 9 more months. I'm like then give me my replacement battery what's the big deal I paid in full with no BS run around. Why are you guy giving me this BS shit ? I have 3months left on my warranty I just say f-it cause this is straight dog shit. The one in Irwindale doesn't do that and the one in San Gabriel don't do that this is the only interstate I have problem with. They have been getting more and more difficult for warranty replacement and we finally had to give up on them in 2018 after ttwo years phasing in two legitimate suppliers that treat professionals as professionals and don't intentionally try to frustrate customers out of legitimate warranty replacement. read more

Driver was told at 450 that he would have to come back tomorrow because "they didn't think they had it", this relatively common battery. This place is great! 2 times I've had above and beyond customer service from Steve. The first was the used car I bought about 6 months ago had an Interstate Battery. One morning it is dead as can be. I checked the date code and it was less than a year old. I went in there (probably with a little attitude) and Steve explained whoever put that battery in put in the wrong size for the car. He said if I paid the difference between the battery I had and the correct one for the car ($29 buck!) he'd swap them out. The second was when I was having battery problems with my Mustang. It had a battery in it from Pep Boys. I went into Montclair Pep Boys and manager Mark (a-hole) told me it wasn't the battery, I was having some kind of electrical issue with the car and he would have to charge me $90 an hour for his electrical specialist to figure it out. Wanting a second opinion I drove around the corner to Interstate and Steve put the battery on the tester and immediately showed the battery was not putting out the amps it should be. Gave me the paper printout and went to Pep Boys who immediately put a new battery in my car. Steve wasn't even making a sale and helped me out. read more

Ok. So batteries are good. Customer service is good. Seriously though, they need to do something about the lobby. The restroom door opens into the customer counter area. Every time I walk in the place, it's as if I'm in a port a potty.. Get a fan, move the door to the shop area, something. Customers don't want to smell ass at a battery place. This place is a scam along with the entire Interstate Battery Organization. I suffer from congestive heart failure and just finished battling terminal cancer. My Interstate Battery went out 4 times this past month, so I decided to take it to this Interstate Battery store in Upland. The battery still has a few months on the warranty. They refuse to honor their warranty for one of their batteries. The said I had to leave my battery for a 24 hour charge before they would honor their warranty. Yet, 24 hours later the battery was not charged, and then Mark the manager stated "give me one hour more and I'll have your battery ready. How can he have my battery ready in 1 hour if their own policy states that they need to charge it for 24 hours. They bypass their warranty by implementing ridicules policies that only favor the company and not the consumer. At Interstate Batteries the CUSTOMER NEVER COMES FIRST! I will never do business with them again! They have already being sued and lost the case...I guess they will never learn until the public is made aware for their shady practices! If you get screwed by this company you may want to call the Gibbs Law Group, like I did this morning... They are the lawyers that won the case against these animals! A class action settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Interstate Battery System of America, Inc. and Interstate Battery System International, Inc. (collectively "Interstate Battery" or "Defendants") pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California(styled Patricia Milano v. Having seen their t.v. commercials numerous times, I thought I would put them to the test and see if they had a replacement battery for my old Droid phone. First off, let me say that the staff here is really friendly and anxious to help. Turns out, they did not have my battery in stock, but they did say that there was longer-life battery available, so I went ahead and ordered it. It was $40, which I thought was a little steep, but I ordered it anyways. 10 days later it finally arrived. Much to my chagrin, my longer-life battery was about twice as thick as the original battery (which was not mentioned when I ordered it! Fortunately. there was a replacement battery covered designed to accommodate the distended battery, but now my phone looks like it has a baby bump! In retrospect, I probably would have gotten a better price and quicker delivery if I had ordered the battery from Amazon. Chalk this one up as a lesson learned. The guys working the counter here - Jes, TMH and the rest of the group standing around doing nothing - need to learn how to do their job and what it means to provide good customer service. Came to pickup a battery for my sedan the other day. After waiting 15 min to be helped, although there were NO other customers and like 3 Interstate employees standing around the register, the kid finally asks me the make a model of my car, never however did he ask if it was two or four door, but who cares about the details right. So he gives me the wrong battery, which I don't figure out until changing out my old battery and seeing a different power rating - my fault for thinking they actually know wtf they are doing. So I call the office and a young lady answers and looks up the car's make and model, and for the first time asks if "it's two or four door"...ahhh ha. Yes, it's a four door, so "he gave you the battery for a two door" you need a 24F for a four door. Sheeesh, so I remove the new battery and take it back to the same idiot at the front desk, who never apologized and showed zero concern. Instead he made me wait for another 15 mins. while he chatted with the other idiots working there about nonsense and then saunters in the back and brings me a battery that doesn't look like my old one, so now I ask "are you sure this is for my vehicle?" He murmurs some BS about it just looks different but will work fine. By this time I've already wasted an hour fooling around with this in the pouring rain and really just wanted to get my car working, so I quietly take the battery and leave. Well he screwed up again and gave me a 25M instead of 24F - in retrospect it's really my fault for trusting this idiot knew what he was doing at this point! The leads were on the opposite side and once I got it home I could immediately tell it was wrong, so I go back for a third time. Again he has no explanantion, no apology, I just wait for another 20 mins. while he figures it out. They should fire this guy immediately and save themselves the trouble of future screw ups cause there were several other cusotmers that had issues with this employee that day as well. For example when I first arrived he was on the phone getting bit*hed out by someone and started off by apologizing if his "voice sounded saky because I just got off a call with an upset customer"......well I can see it was well deserved, dummy. read more

Last July 8th, 2014 I purchased two batteries for my RV from this store. Yesterday one of the batteries went completely dead. I brought it in, was greeted by Karl who had it tested and found out it was totally drained. Before I could even speak a word and without any questions it was replaced!! I understand these batteries have a one year warranty on them, but yesterday was the 15th of July, 2015. A lot of dealers would try to nickel and dime you by pro-rating their product, not this place. Karl apologized and handed me a brand new battery without blinking an eye, that's what I call costumer service!! A friend recommended this store to me a year ago and I can see why. Interstate batteries aren't what they used to be. Back in the day they were worth the extra money. Here is the trouble with Interstate: When your battery finally gives up the ghost it better be within normal business hours and you better be close to a dealer. If not you are SOL. I was finally forced to get out of the Interstate "exchange" cyclone and bought a new battery at Wal-Mart that has a better warranty and can be exchanged at any of the roughly 4000 locations nationwide. Another incentive is most Wal-Marts are open until midnight and some 24hrs. The service at this location is very good, but the juice is not worth the squeeze. read more

When you first walk in you might as well walked into a dirty a**hole because that's what the lobby smells like. Cory came to assist me after a few minutes of watching the girl behind the glass play on her cell phone, don't work too hard now! This guy had absolutely no desire to assist me and I know he high as a kite, you can see it, but reluctantly he did. After finding out they couldn't install the battery on my car and about 15 minutes of being talked to like I was a child I was fed up. We have had an interstate battery in our SUV for about 2 years and then we had a problem. Battery would start. Was able to jump it and took it directly to Interstate in Upland. I was anxious if I would need to buy a new battery. Thankfully this store had my receipt on file. After finding out the battery had gone bad, without questions replaced it. I only had the standard warranty that came with the interstate battery purchase which is longer that a normal warranty. I can't thank interstate batteries enough for going the extra mile not only to explain how important battery maintenance is for my motorcycle but for meeting me 45 minutes after they closed off the side of the road to bring me the battery because I was running late from work. You see they're closed Saturday and Sunday I went there this morning purchased the battery spent an hour with their team getting educated on there products and maintainer. They had an amazing sale on flashlights half off if anybody's ever use their flashlights they're very high-quality. Came here in late 2014 to replace a battery that no longer held a charge. They tested the battery and told me "this battery is no longer made, we have a replacement battery but it will be at a cost of $96" (Even though it was still in warranty) I didn't know any better and paid the difference and went on my way. Fast forward to today: I took that same battery back as it no longer holds a charge. They checked the battery and went to their book and then told me the SAME THING!! AGAIN- Even though the battery was under warranty, the guy tells me "the recommended battery is now $96 plus tax and that's what your cost will be after we deduct the price difference of your defective battery" I told them "NO! This battery should be free as its fully under warranty" the employee proceeds to say to me "Oh, you want the same battery type that you brought in? Then there's no charge" WTF?! I've come to the conclusion that they tell you "your battery type is different and you need to pay out of pocket to upgrade to the new recommended battery" just to rip you off. Bottom line is: MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE WARRANTY AND DONT LET THEM SCREW YOU OVER BY SAYING YOUR BATTERY IS NO LONGER MADE OR HAS BEEN REPLACED BY A DIFFERENT MODEL! read more

Interstate battery sucks. My battery was only 43 months old out of a 85 month warranty and the guy at the upland distribution center wanted me to pay $75.00 bucks to replace it! Midas is an authorized dealer and they wouldn't even replace it. Beware there is NO WARRANTY FOR THE INTERSTATE BATTERY. I called Angel to see how much it would be to replace my battery that had a warranty. She also mentioned that if I brought my car to them that they would replace the battery. Later she said they couldn't install the battery because the car was a foreign model. The cost to replace the battery with a warranty was more than Batteries +Bulbs and AAA. I would definite take all of my cars, friends cars here! Their sale team is amazing, knowledgeable, courteous and most importantly fast! I took my car to Sears earlier and it took about a good 40 minute just to do a battery test by the receptionist / adviser person non the less. Here their Tech did a check and give me a print out showing me exactly what I need to know. Also, thought I didn't use this, they do have a battery loner program as well. And also while they where changing my battery, the linked a direct power up to my car OBD2 so I don't have to re-enter in any settings or radio code. I have always been treated well at this center. This time I had an exceptional experience with Jim. Wow, he did a complete check on my battery and found a bad cell. He could not completely see the "stamp" on my battery, but loosened the battery to find the date code. He found that my battery was still under warranty. Got my battery replacement within 5 minutes with NO hassles. They cannot replace your battery now (due to Calif. laws) but he lent me the tools to replace my battery without having to go home and then come back to return the core. Really impressed.
