The level of incompetence I observed while trying to move with Interstate is almost indescribable. My jaw is on the ground. I can't believe their constant mishandling, or how flippant they are about their large, unacceptable mistakes. I am trying to relocate from DC to London, and was referred to Interstate by my husband's firm. Don became our point person, our supposed main contact. Upon reaching out 2 months prior to our move, he suggested we have a call a week later to discuss move details. Red flag #1: he or someone from his company should have called right away. During the call, we confirmed our desired move dates. I had questions about customs when our items would arrive. Red flag #2: He did not ask any inventory questions, and he could not answer questions about customs or (even approximately) when our items would arrive. 1 week after our call, Don emailed to say someone from Hildrup Moving would be contacting us to schedule a survey. I responded saying I'd rather not use Hildrup. They followed up saying we could use Interstate for the move, and we scheduled a survey for the following week. Red flag #3: Three weeks passed from initial contact to scheduling the survey. I received emails from 5 different representatives from various moving companies (Corrigan, Hildrup, Interstate) asking about our survey, and none of them could answer my questions. When the Interstate rep came for the survey, all went well and seemed pretty straight-forward. Red flag #4: the guy who came could only answer questions about the survey. While very nice, he knew nothing about timeframes, packing, or really anything outside of counting furniture and estimating its weight. Several days after the survey, I received an email from another Interstate representative. She assigned us a pack date for the following week and sent over paperwork. She also told us that it would take 4-6 weeks to process specific UK customs paperwork that had to be done before our items would be shipped out. Red flag #5: Why didn't anyone mention we needed to fill out the TOR (UK transfer of residency) paperwork before? We gave them a desired move date, and we were only told that it may fluctuate depending on weather. This added 4-6 weeks to our move, meaning we would be sleeping on the floor for at least 3 months on either coast. Major fail, Interstate. Red flag #6: We never consented to the pack date, and responded to the email saying it didn't work for us. They responded saying our items needed to be packed ASAP and would be in storage until our paperwork was approved by UK customs. There's no purpose for our things to be in storage for that long. I responded to them saying this was all unacceptable: the delay in sending paperwork, the mishandling of our time and move, and not consenting to the pack date. I received an "out of office" response. Red flag #7: 3 movers in a big Interstate truck came to my door this morning. Interesting. I specifically sent multiple emails to his representatives saying i do not want to pack today. When I called Don to tell him about his company's latest error, he not only did not apologize, he thanked me for my negative comments and argued with me saying he was indeed competent. Needless to say, I will be using another moving company. The lack of customer service, the inflated prices, the canned email responses with no specific answers to my questions, the terrible management (that's you, Don)... I wouldn't wish anyone use this company. read more

Worst experience ever. They robotext you and make promises that they cover up in fine print of the 12 pages of the contract. Their estimating is not accurate be prepared to face up charges for steps and storage that your lying POS sales says is free. Storage was supposed to be free but they tried to charge $250/ month for something We could have $40/month for. The sales guy blocked my phone when I called to ask about it. Avoid this company at all costs. We ended letting them keep our stuff. 12 All Clad pans, $900 in Global knives, golf clubs. Worst experience in the most stressful time. UPDATE -- 17 March, 2017 I wanted to give an update to ensure everybody knew how the situation ended for me. So after posting the review, I was contacted by a vice president of the company and he ensured that my situation was handled very quickly. He remediated everything and got my claim money to me in a timely fashion. I am still very unhappy with the way the claims department and the pickup/packing team acted, but I did want to give recognition to the people that were helpful in the process. Rachel Clark, the move coordinator was very helpful and was always a go-to person for us through the process. The delivery team (not the team that was originally supposed to deliver and was late....a different delivery team) was also good and the vice president helped get everything sorted out in the end. I'm glad we persisted and found a way around though, because the claims department was a dead end, and I doubt we would've gotten anywhere. read more

Do NOT use Interstate Movers. I have to agree with ALL the other 1-star reviews. Another moving company couldn't move me and suggested Interstate. Interstate has the worst customer service among all the moving companies. They do not explain their process not their billing. They do not give firm delivery dates or prices. I was told a delivery range and called multiple times in order to receive a final date and cost estimate. Neil (a trainee) knew nothing and Ebony (my customer rep) never called me back. When I spoke with the supervisor, Eleanor, she informed that my items would be delivered in 3 weeks (sitting in the warehouse 8 days). I was angry this was not explained to me. Eleanor said that I could choose another moving company but that I would be in breach of the contract. My moving weight was ~1,000 pounds more than the estimate, despite me selling 5 large furniture pieces! I still have not received the cost which doesn't make sense. Mike, the sales person, made it sound like Interstate knows what they are doing. They don't. They have poor customer service, inflexible agents who do not understand the stress of a cross country move and blamed me for not understanding their process (which they never explained to me!) Everyone we dealt with at Interstate -- from initial sales representative....to schedulers, planners, administrative folk.....to packers and drivers -- couldn't have been more professional, friendly and willing to help. Although there were some of the usual hiccups along the way, overall it's tough to find a moving company with the integrity, skill, professionalism and responsiveness of Interstate. And, each of those "hiccups" were addressed quite effectively by the management team. What were those "hiccups"? Somehow our delivery of household goods did not get scheduled properly for delivery within the promised one-week window. this led to considerable family disruption and delayed unpacking much longer than expected. But Interstate did their best to make up for this and provided extra unpacking assistance. Lesson learned: keep in CLOSE contact with Interstate throughout the move to ensure everyone is on the same page with delivery schedules, etc. Another issue: although we had told the sales rep that very large trucks would not fit into the tight streets of our destination condo complex, they arrived in a huge 54-foot vehicle. This delayed delivery by a couple more days as a smaller truck was secured and our household good transferred from one truck to another. Lesson learned: people need to LISTEN better! A third and final issue. The packers, although delightful and professional, still needed close supervision as they tended to be in too much of a rush to get done....leading to delicate items being handled too roughly, not packed carefully enough....and some items being missed completely for packing. Lesson learned: have plenty of your own family/friend representatives present to supervise the packing process to your satisfaction. Bottom line: I sincerely believe we could not have done better on our move with any other moving company. Interstate certainly tried their level best to please and be responsive to our needs and desires. If moving again, I wouldn't hesitate to call Interstate first and contract with them again. Interstate Van Lines was contracted by the Navy to do our final military move. They picked up our goods from Charleston, SC on August 3rd with an estimated delivery to Seattle, WA on August 10. The required delivery date on the contract was August 21. It's now August 24th and we still don't have our household goods, and they say it "might" be delivered on August 26th. DO. NOT. HIRE. Dishonest. Inefficient. Inconsiderate. We moved from Los Angeles to Chicago. Packers damaged our belongings and were not careful with our (VERY CLEARLY LABELLED) FRAGILE boxes. Unclear as to what extent our belongings have been damaged. We videotaped heavy boxes being plopped down on photo boxes with prints and frames in them. We also videotaped our grill being rammed into the truck as to push the boxes already in the truck further in. Still no stuff. Estimated arrival time was between 7-10 days. After our week-long trip, we stayed at hotels for 3 nights in hopes that our stuff would arrive the following day. It is now September 21st, and we still have not received our belongings. It has now been 31 days. Our stuff was supposed to arrive today, but we received a text saying that the truck was pulled into a weigh station for repairs. We planned pet care as well as moving and organization help for today, and now we have to re-plan everything for tomorrow, given that they actually show up. Keep looking for other moving companies. Don't settle for this one, they will disappoint. read more

This is an excellent company. The movers who moved me were so thorough and courteous. Loved their teamwork. All the furniture was carefully wrapped and they cleaned as they went along. They arrived in time and did a full days work in my three story townhouse. My experience with Interstate has always been 5 star. Their customer care is exceptional. They are so reliable! They show up on time which shows such great respect for those they are working with. They come prepared, number of people to complete the job and supplies. This is utterly important. They pack nicely and move at a fabulous pace. I am a realtor in the Northern VA and have referred Sherry Skinner and her team many times over the years. They do not disappoint. If something should had because life is life and a wrench does get thrown in the best laid out plans, they step up and take care of it immediately. 9/24/2016: our move date 10/07/2016: Interstate received our claim for damages and missing items. Our claim ultimately gets split into two, separate claims. Claim#1 10/26/2016: claim for $2200 less $500 deductible = $1700 approved 11/04/2016: check is dated 11/04 11/14/2016: ten days later check is mailed 11/21/2016: check received Claim#2 11/14/2016: claim for $350 approved 11/16/2016: check is dated 11/16 12/02/2016: check is mailed, sixteen days later 12/06/2016: check received Interstate makes sure they have your money before they pick your stuff up. Interstate makes sure they have your credit card on file to charge you for monthly storage. Interstate makes sure they have your money before they deliver your stuff. BUT THEY SURE ARE NOT IN ANY HURRY TO RETURN ANY MONEY THEY OWE YOU WHEN THEY BREAK AND DAMAGE YOUR STUFF. I think this company, founded in 1943, has probably lost their way a little bit. I can only hope that Bud Morrissette reads this review and understands that their once-proud Top Hat service should now more properly be called Lost, Broken or Mangled Hat service. read more

Literallly the worst moving experience I have ever had in 10 years of military moves. They call me two days before my scheduled move (and the closing of my house) to tell me my scheduled move was postponed by 3 Days... Then they cause roughly 2500$ worth of damage and agree to pay about half of that.. they no showed 3 times for the scheduled the debris pick up. but the worst part was, I caught one of the movers stealing money from me and when I reported it to the company, they were apologetic, and offered to send me a check for compensation. (I didn't ask for that, but they insisted). I never receive a check and when I call the company to follow up, they tell me they don't know what I am talking about, and need to provide evidence. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they are literally liars, cheats, and theifs. If you are forced to use their services as part of a military move and are assigned Mr. Kafily Smith as your move coordinator, request a new representative. Based on their reviews from google, yelp, and other online services, I highly recommend that you take the 5 minutes to file a Better Business Bureau complaint. This company has some issues with service and integrity. I purchased the staging pkg that included storage and delivery. They went on to charge me 3 times in 1 month w/o permission. I had to dispute and cancel my card, because the sales person could not explain or even refund the charges. They are scam artist and do not recommend. read more

Interstate was hired to move my belongs. They lost, destroyed, and damaged several thousand dollars worth of belongings. When I complained and filed for compensation they sent out field agents and then sent a check for less than half of the required repair/replacement costs. They refused to offer anything more and illegally told me that by cashing the check I would forfeit any additional claims. Additionally, their moving staff did not actually unpack any belongings and literally just dumped out all the boxes in piles on the ground. Stay away. And if you find yourself scheduled to work with these guys (e.g. corporate/military moves) demand a different vendor. read more

We had a great experience with Interstate until we discovered that our 46" Sony Hi-Def TV was damaged in the move. We paid for packing service from Interstate but not one of our TV's were packaged as promised in the sales agreement at the initiation of the contract. They went into and came out of the truck with no protection. When we brought it to the attention of Interstate that the TV was damaged we have received only a letter telling us that we will receive $48 to replace the TV. While we did sign up for only the "per pound" replacement fee, I believe that we are deserved of a replacement value of the TV. We paid $225 for boxes and packaging of TVs and yet they were not. Multiple emails and correspondence have gone unanswered from anyone at Interstate. I have called customer service and after explaining my position I have been told twice that a "manager" will call me back. Nothing. The packing people, the movers were all great and friendly. The customer service apparently ends when something goes wrong. I would not recommend them, which is a shame since they were recommended to me for their outstanding customer service. read more

We recently used Interstate to pack and move us locally after living in the same home for 18 years. Needless to say we had quite a bit of "stuff" including boxes and boxes of collectibles and antiques. The moving crew made us feel very comfortable and gave us assurance that our belongings would be well packed and moved without damage. Boy, did they deliver! They were great to work with, and practically became part of the family during the week of our move. We felt comfortable that everything would be expertly handled and were not disappointed. We used Interstate for our move from Northern Virginia to North Carolina, what a disappointment! 15 years ago, we had Interstate move our belongings when we were still in the military and we had a great experience at the time - little or no damage, quick, efficient, and very friendly. So when our real estate agent suggested we use them for this move, we were okay with it. Big MISTAKE! We had them come to our home in early May to pick up most of our belongings and place them in storage so we could stage and sell our home. Then in July, a few days before closing, they came back and picked up the rest of our belongings, thus creating 2 invoices. When our items were delivered, they were smashed into the front end of the moving truck with another shipment after ours. When the driver opened the door, several of our smashed boxes came crashing out onto the pavement. Having seen how the truck was packed, we were not surprised to learn of the damaged items. What we didn't count on was the fact that not all of our boxes made it to us in NC. Several of our boxes from the first shipment were missing, but since the driver had not been given a copy of the inventory, he could not attest to what was missing. The company reimbursed us for the damaged goods, but as of today, 6 weeks after submitting our claim, we are still waiting to hear about any reimbursement for our missing items. Every time we call or email, we seem to get the run-around and end up leaving messages hoping the claims manager will call us - which they never do. My advice - find another mover. We recently moved from FL to NC and the military was the ones that used this company to move our household goods. And now that I am looking at BBB I can not believe they have an A+ rating. This was the worst move I have ever been through, and makes me re-think having a company move our stuff and just do it myself. All of our problems stem from the packers and the company managers, the packers came and packed our stuff this is where everything started going south unbeknownst to us. The people came out to quote how long it would take to pack everything and put it on the truck, the lady said it would be a four day process three to pack and one to put everything on the truck. But when the packers came they said it would be two days to pack and one to load the truck. My wife was home to make sure the packers got what they needed and to take things that they could not pack and put it to the side. But our one year old took most of her time and could not be over their shoulders to make sure they were doing a proper job. They had everything packed by the end of the second day and prepped for the truck the next day. When the truck came to get everything loaded, they did not bring any tools with them and did not ask if I could get any out of my big tool box that was not wrapped up and that she had access to the keys for. So when they packed the truck our bed, high boy dresser, and other furniture with legs went on the truck with the legs still on. They also took both my large ammo cans that are full that I had set to the side because I knew that they would not go on the truck and I'd have to put them in our POV I was planning on this and not a big surprised, but when I got home they were on the truck already and since they were up front and berried they didn't want to do anything about it. Once we got moved up to NC we called the receiving Wearhouse to make sure they still planned on dropping our stuff off on the predetermined day that we set up when the truck came to pick our stuff up. But they didn't know anything about it and had no record of our stuff being at their facility, it took them 24 hours to find our stuff and call us back that they had found it. Than they told us they couldn't have it out to us for another two to three weeks, we contacted the supervisor/manager and that got cut down to another week. Once our stuff arrived the driver told us right off the bat we where not going to be happy because when he was getting everything ready he found a couple things broken like the highboy dresser. As they where bringing things in we started unboxing things so they could take some of the boxes and paper back with them(less for me to take to the dump), this is where things got really bad. We opened the TV box and it had all kinds of things in it suck as a metal key holder and coat hangers. We found that some of the boxes did not have any packing material in them and things were just tossed in the boxes, and some of the items were purposefully broken to fit in the box it was in, the box was too small to actually fit in the box. My wife's saddle was put in a very large box from the garage and my car jack stands had been tossed on top of it puncturing it and putting large gauges in the leather. We also found that the head and foot board to our bed had been snapped, again because they did not bring tools to take the legs off. So we started to work on our claim for all the damaged stuff and they also sent us a review to get feed back from the move, wanting to hear how good they did. We posted everything that had gone wrong up till that point and we got a call from the owner begging us to remove the post because they are a small family run company that needs the military contract or they will go out of business and they would make sure we were happy at the end of the insurance claim. So we obliged them taking their word that we would be taken care of. We are now working on our eight month of the claim and we just got our check for much less than it should be, because they were price checking the wrong stuff to make it cheaper and were told this was the last offer take it or leave it. So we took it cause we are over dealing with this company. I will do everything I can to make sure the military movers know what has happened and I can only hope they loose the contract. We were not the only ones that had this problem coming out of FL we had someone move right before us that had the same kind of thing happen to them. read more

Go somewhere else!! We were given Interstate for our federal government retirement move across the country. Things started well, but we were then unaware that the deadlines for the dates we had to receive our goods were false as given by the representative. So 15 months after delivery, we received an updated bill for additional storage, for $1300! When we took delivery, about 20 items were damaged, some beyond repair. They sent out a furniture estimator, who told us that the marred, scuffed, and ruined finish on the wood portions was our fault, too much wax and polish. We never used any wax or polish on them. No monetary compensation, only for replacement of other more obvious damages (five antique chair legs broken, broken glass) and losses (several boxes). There HAVE to be better companies out there. If not, U-Haul would be a better choice. UPDATE as of 22April2018: Interstate subsequently contacted us as a result of the above review. Interstate offered to refund the $1300 as good will, which we accepted. So due to their willingness to make things a bit better, we are changing the review from a 1 to a 2, and appreciate their concern. read more

If i can give this company zero star i would!!! let me start by saying customer service is a shit hole very rude if they don't like their job they should change to a different field where they don't need to provide customer service!!!! the military contracted them to move our belongings to a different state. When they deliver are belongings and we started unpacking our high ticket items our 50 in TV was broken the screen was shatter. Our next item was our washer when we connected it and did one load of laundry it started leaking and making a weird noise wouldn't turn on and there employees didn't even put a tub stabilizer inside the washer . we file a claim online follow all the step to received a letter in the mail saying our claim got deny this is the explanation the company provided ( The damage claimed appears to be internal only.Our file does not indicate or contain any evidence of external damage or carrier mishandling. Without evidence of mishandling by us, the cause of this internal damage would be attributable to a inherent vice such as electronic or mechanical failure). With that being saying company is negligence is off the roof as per i used to work unloading trucks and i know how thing get tossed around and broken. Went to disputing the claim they never send in inspector to come look at my damage goods i provided pictures and video of my damage goods. I call and follow by a email they said they were going to review my claim again and they would have a respond early next week for me that week came and went and nothing. I call multiple times and send email to follow up to follow by no return calls or emails.As per i try to work with them they gave me no option but to seek legal help for this matter. My experience with Interstate Movers Springfield,VA has been a very poor experience. I moved from Springfield,VA to CA, October 2015. During the move the leg was broken off of my chaise lounge and another leg on a samll table was broke as well. I received a small compensation for the samll table, however the chaise lounge has never been resolved. I called the manager Mr. Galliger and he said he would look into the matter but never called back. I called a second time, no reponse. Finally I emailed the president Bud Morrisette and never recieved a reponse. I will never reccomend them too anyone for business. Nor will I ever do business with them again. Do not use this company for your move!!! The movers will not take care of your furniture once it leaves your sight and if you are in the military and the military assigns this company to do your move call personal property and try to request a new moving agent. Once your furniture is with them it is treated like crap. I received my furniture badly damaged. A sofa I had only for 6 months before moving showed up with cuts in it, leather damaged, and all the wooden foot parts cracked. My dresser knobs were broken off three drawers and headboard and rails all scratched up. These are just the major things done to my furniture during the move and when you file a claim they are so used to this they don't even give you the correct value of your furniture, they send you their amount which doesnt even add up correctly and will ignore your calls or emails when you try to reach them. Stay away from this company they are just for the money and not actually providing customers with good customer service!!! If I could give zero stars I would!!! read more

We've done a number of moves now and this by far was our worst experience. They showed up on the first day with 2 people, who were moving very slowly. The second day they sent 5 more people who actually started getting stuff packed up. They threw dress clothes into regular boxes, completely mislabeled boxes, e.g., one box labeled clothes did not have a single item of clothing in it, and didn't even have the right supplies (flat packs, bubble wrap, etc.) to do the job. I had to go out and buy some bubble wrap myself for some of our fragile items. They were here until 11p but by the end my wife was actually packing boxes since one of their movers was just standing around doing nothing. On top of that, they left TONS of boxes and trash around the house. If you have any choice in movers (we didn't) I would avoid them if at all possible. read more

This company has successfully completely devastated our family. We moved in July, the majority of our belongings were completely destroyed (furniture snapped in half, appliances crushed), damaged and lost. We filed a claim on August 23 (four months ago) and it was ignored by Sarah Lindsey who was in charge of our claim for almost 2 month, we finally agreed to a settlement for a small portion of the loss and damage, and was promised a check over 3 weeks ago. It is now December 14 and they still have not mailed a check, but keep making excuses. We have moved long distances more than 10 times, and this is the first time we have had any damage at all. It is April and I am still waiting on claims to reimburse me for over 3,000$ dollars in damages. We have had many military moves and this by far has been the WORST! Hid the cans throughout our house. *Pulled sectional couch apart instead of lifting out of the brackets, despite being told how to lift it out of the brackets. *Bought them donuts, which apparently weren't enough because they opened a bag of chips out of our pantry. *Didn't bring crate for glass table. *Didn't wrap couch, packed things on top of it. *Used boxes that we purchased to pack our items. *Packed landlord's microwave and security system after being told not to numerous times. *refused to unpack items because they were already in the truck *Driver stated he would ship items back when he unpacked the truck. This took a month and numerous calls to the company. *Though the box was not damaged at all, the microwave looked like someone took a baseball bat to it. *When unpacking there was a green luggage bag in the front of the truck, said to be the driver's when asked, happened to be the same bag we had, including brand. A coincidence? Sure. Had we not noticed that we no longer had that bag after unpacking. *Our wooden case for our fine flatware from our wedding arrived safely, however, the actual flatware that was inside did not arrive at all. *Upon arrival to our new home, before even touching our household goods, the movers asked for a tip and told us how much they normally get. *Would not allow us to take inventory of the boxes to ensure they were all accounted for. *Though boxes were labeled, as time went on they just began leaving boxes in random places. *During the packing process, they just put random items thrown in boxes. Both of my wedding dresses were balled up with random items thrown on top. *Despite indicating high value items on the required sheet, the company did not want to pay for damages they caused. This was a weekly fight. *Attempted to have a general repair/restoration company repair artwork that they destroyed despite the fact that it would eliminate the value. When asked for credentials, they would not provide them. *Despite paying us for one of the two destroyed works of art, without stipulations, when they FINALLY agreed to pay us for the second work, they notified us that we must allow them to salvage both pieces in order to be paid. They stated that they had 30 days after full payment to salvage an item, 30 days had passed and when confronted they stated that they were sending the check to the individual coming to pick up the artwork and if we didn't give him both pieces, then he would not give us the check. Basically holding our money hostage, despite being beyond the timeframe that was supposedly their policy. *Driver stated that the company would make a one time trip to pick up boxes after we unpack, when we called to have them picked up the company said that wasn't true. After a lengthy discussion they agreed to consider paying for a company to come out if I researched it myself and got them a quote so they could determine what, if anything, they would pay. I ended up having to make numerous trips to a recycling facility 3 miles each way. The company agreed that I would also need my car detailed and that I should be provided compensation to do so. We were given $100 because they stated that was how much a company would charge for removal . *The company was completely unprofessional and rude throughout the entire process. The only time I would receive timely email responses were when the adjuster was be condescending and attempting to prove me wrong. *For the first 2 months since submitting the claim they stated that they were 10 days behind ever time I called saying that was the reason for our claim not being resolved and offers not being made. *They send checks containing offers that you have not accepted to try to trick you into cashing it and therefor unknowingly accepting offers. *Won't allow you to destroy incorrect checks, you must mail them back and wait for them to receive it before they will issue a new check. Despite initially telling us otherwise. These are just some of the issues, I could go on. They are a disrespectful, unprofessional, garbage company. Original sales team was confident and persuasive. I chose to have some items picked up early in order to stage the house. Of course there is a storage charge which I agreed upon. Issues began when packers arrived for remaining household goods. Packers were inadequately trained and crate for large picture was missing. Plasma TV was turned upside down over and over to wrap it (destroys most Plasma TVs) and was then placed in its special box with a "tip indicator". Packers left several shelves/drawers of kitchenware even though I had asked three separate times, if they had checked all cabinets. And this is an ISO 9000 qualified company.? Delivery was contractually agreed upon. I called the driver, per instructions, to find out the approximate delivery day (closer than the 5 day spread they had provided earlier) but received no answer. Tried a 2nd time with same result. Finally called the home office only to find out that the shipment would be delayed an additional 4-5 days.... seems they were hunting for other loads to fill this enormous truck. I moved to my final destination with the new delivery in mind. Nearing the new delivery time, I called the driver with no results. I then called the home office only to find out that they had rerouted the driver once again and that my shipment would be delayed an additional 3-5 days. It seems they have been driving my household goods up and down the east coast looking for additional weight to fill the truck. In short....I have had to call them at every turn and chase down where the truck is and if they are going to deliver on time. They do not seem to care about the $150+ dollar a day late fee. The cost of a new Plasma TV is $979 (yep, I took out the $110,000 $0 deductible insurance) from Interstate. Given that my goods will likely have traveled 3/4 of a month and nearly 4,000+ miles in a truck, I will be making a lot of claims. I hope not but having been in the business, I can tell you that the further you truck it, the more you break it. My next stop is to file a complaint with "www.protectmymove.gov". This will break Interstate's perfect record but they seemed to not care about that either when I informed them. Bottom line, if you are searching for a moving company, look elsewhere. read more

Horrible customer service. Everything was great till I gave my deposit. Five calls over a three week period trying to get the day the truck would arrive was a nightmare. "Lisa" called on a Monday to say it would be Thursday instead of Wednesday. ... then calls Wednesday..less than 24 hours before the move to say they didn't have a truck to move me! Of course . I was extremely upset. . Asked for the owners name. . Was given an Adam... and phone #... he never called back. Now my bank is starting a claim against them for not returning my deposit. read more

My move with interstate moving has been a nightmare! I purchased the storage package prior to selling my house that went smooth. But when I engaged them for my move that is when the games begun. Their team showed up a day early and I had to tell them to come back. They came back on the day I contracted and the team that arrived to pack we're grumpy walking though the door. By the end of the day the ran out of boxes and began using my plastic bags to transport my items. Heard a crash in my living room at found a statue giving as a gift was in pieces on the floor. After they finally left I did a walk thru and found items still in kitchen cabinets and closets. Two days later when the truck arrived at my new home the Sam grumpy crew arrive. The crew put dents in my dry wall scraped the ceilings and broke glass tables,punctured leather sofas and broke table lamps. When I began to unpack I found doggie toys in a wardrobe box(you pay extra for wardrobe boxes) . My suites never made it to the wardrobe boxes but instead were stuff in regular boxes with house hold detergents from my bathroom. I have many missing items including a 400.00 roomba. I have heard nothing on my claims and this weekend got an alert from my bank that interstate charged 500.00 to my credit card with no notice or explanation on what charge is for. We too are unfortunately linked to the hip with Interstate Moving Company like other reviews by similar individuals (relocating our non-temporary storage). We battled with this company for well over one month and are completely and utterly dissatisfied. The senior manager contacted us and their only goal is to meet their contract delivery deadline when issues are raised to their attention about their poor customer service, inappropriate and horrible communications. After trying to work with the company for an earlier delivery over longer than a month period, Interstate (only after we contacted them to confirm our belongings were on their way) we were informed they were going to deliver our goods two days later than the actual required delivery date (consistent with other low star reviews) only for us to learn after digging into it that literally after their truck left the warehouse with our belongings, a full five days later, it was only 1.5 hours from the warehouse it left with all of our stuff on the truck!!!!!!!!! It was comical listening to this senior manager talk about their procedures and well planned schedules which could not be farther from the truth and we had no qualms to tell him point blank just how ridiculous their company is. Clear evidence of the brass at the top having absolutely no clue what goes on in the shallows of the company and hiring the wrong people. Completely disconnected management and we are committed to showcase their extensive and poor customer service. After raising a huge stink, I managed to obtain a commitment backtracking off what I was told earlier about a late delivery, but only after involving other key points of contact that helped us. All hope for early delivery is lost due to their inability to manage their business operations effectively and efficiently. As a point of business operations, this company could of likely taken advantage of our desire for an earlier delivery date in a business sense because we requested it so far in advance, but they can't find their way out of a paper bag and don't seem to be able to take advantage of scheduling opportunities that might actually benefit their bottom line operations. This review is especially for the senior leadership of Interstate. We, unlike your company keep our word and follow through and as promised, we will highlight your poor (and what we experience as deceitful) practices at every opportunity and every stage available to us. Even after we sent a voicemail as proof left by their staff that was obviously forwarded by the prime contractor to Interstate, this senior Interstate manager tried to make it seem like it wasn't a voicemail asking us to waive damage liability of our shipment and only acknowledgd it was a poorly delivered message from a supervisor of their company. Nothing worse than a huge conglomerate making tons of money off a certain employer and their resolution is to cover themselves with absolutely no human remorse or care for the customer. They even asked if we would be willing to accept a weekend delivery early on one of the voice mails left to us and we said yes, but this senior brass took that possibility away so he could cover the company from outright failure ensuring he had maximum time to actually make the delivery deadline and trying to afford himself every last minute to do so. You can try to use your position of authority within a company, but your customer sees through poor business practices and a desire only to cover yourself after you've messed it up. Dreading the day this unprofessional company from the top down shows up to deliver our goods and expecting the worst as far as damage to our precious belongings and not to mention that they plan to send a posse out to our house to try to ensure they have covered themselves even more. Don't choose Interstate - just don't do it because you will regret it! We used Interstate in April 2015 to move us to our new home. The 7 gentleman who showed up to move us worked well together and made it a seamless move. They were very proactive and helpful. I also found them to be courteous, polite, very professional, hard-working and they jumped to comply with every request - very anxious to please the customer. Overall, I would have to say this was about the best move experience we've ever had! read more
