An update! Since my first review, I have used A&A twice. Once to unload a self-loaded U-haul of inherited furniture, and again just a couple months ago for another local move. Everyone I talked to at A&A, including the owner Alonso, were friendly, clear, and accommodating. They asked great questions ahead of time to get a clear idea of how much stuff I had and it's a good thing they know their stuff! They brought a full-size truck and a smaller van... and I filled both. When it was readily clear I had a lot of stuff, they called in an additional mover-- asking, of course, for my permission, but ultimately sharing that it would save me money. Each of the movers that showed up had an incredible positive attitude and they had great communication between them. They were efficient and fast. All my furniture was in the same shape after the move, and they even made sure I didn't lose any bookshelves or those little things that hold the shelves up. Nothing broke, either. They even paid attention to my labels and tried to match the box with the correct room. While I want A&A to be available for every move I do, I also want others to know what an affordable and pleasant experience this was. (They even do moves out of state-- one guy was telling me about a move to Florida they did!) These guys are straight up incredible. I hired Alonzo and his team for a cross-country job in November 2018: Washington DC to Northern California. I called 40-something other companies before choosing A&A Moving, and was floored by Alonzo's honesty and respectfulness. No hidden fees, no bait-and-switch pricing, just real talk about his costs, how much he needs to pay his guys, and what I could afford. He even told me he'd be coming on this move personally, which made me feel better about the whole thing. My experiences with other movers have made me kind of neurotic; Alonzo handled this with poise and understanding. He sent me multiple confirmations before our scheduled packing day, and sent plenty of updates that day, so I always knew where they were at. I returned from work to find everything neatly packed, with the exception of my bed and a few items that Alonzo and crew thought I might need - soap, toilet paper, towels, deodorant, tampons, my travel neck pillow... Those items were handled the next day, when the guys loaded my boxes into the truck. The actual move went off without a hitch. Alonzo kept me updated about his location and ETA during the cross-country drive, and he and his colleague Bryan (or is it Brian? Either way, you rock, dude) arrived at my California apartment within 15 minutes of their promised delivery time. Not a single item was broken, my furniture was in exactly the same condition I left it in DC, and they managed to get everything into the apartment without a single scratch or scuff mark on my walls. Seriously, I cannot speak highly enough about A&A Moving. Movers that are fast and don't break the bank? I'll take 2 please! I've used these guys twice now and had a great (and painless) experience both times. Their response times are quick; just shoot them an email telling them where and when and they respond at the drop of a hat. They call you as soon as they arrive, and they've arrived in a 15min window each time. They are FAST! They can wrap furniture in seconds and don't need manuals to take anything apart. You can tell they really know what they're doing and they don't waste any time. That being said, fast makes me nervous. But they are careful too. They take the time to make sure everything is secure and moved carefully. My glass table, huge picture frame, and flat screen all arrived safely and unharmed both times. They're also cheaper than most places you'll find in this area. They'll give you a fair quote and break it down for you so you know exactly what you'll be paying. And they take venmo! (Or cash or credit, but if you live in this decade you know venmo is the best). Moving is stressful enough, don't make it more stressful. These guys can help ease the pain! Alonzo probably provides excellent service he wrapped my tv stand and loaded it in my van on 10/09/21 which was given to me free by 1 of his clients so no I did not hire him but made him liable for damaging the trunk when him and his worker put it down on the tv stand that wasn't pushed far enough inside of the vehicle it made such a load bang I thought the glass had broken on the van door so he instructed his worker to pull the tv stand forward when I returned home the trunk would not open even with the remote after contacting him he was rude and would not except responsibility and told me he would not pay me 1 dime. This is someone without a moral compass read more

After calling 15-20 movers, I decided to go with A&A moving. They had a great review and seemed accommodating and affordable. I was not disappointed. They were very professional, knowledgeable and expeditious in their work. I would STRONGLY recommend these guys. Last time I hired a moving company they showed up with 4 guys and moved much slower than the two men who showed up with a&a. They packed my storage closet with so much precision and care for maximizing space. 5 Star for sure. read more

This past weekend I moved and used A&A for the move. I have to say AMAZING. They managed to take all the stress out of a very stressful process. I was moving from a 1.5 bedroom and loft apartment to a 1 bedroom and den apartment about a mile away. The job was estimated to take between 3-4 hours. The two movers took less than two hours! Incredibly efficient, and honestly talented at filling the truck, these guys were great. All of my furniture was handled skillfully and with care. These guys respected my stuff, but were quick and efficient. The price was also really good when compared with other local companies. Will definitely call them again next time I move. read more

I have used this moving company 3 times since 2016. When I moved back into the state we had our stuff shipped on a freight truck and Alonzo and his crew did a great job moving us from truck into our new apartment on the 4th floor. They have been great with the other 2 moves as well. Just standard apartment to apartment moves. When I move back out of state, I'll be hiring Alonzo and his crew to drive our stuff to our new home. Alonzo helped us with our last move (2.5 hours, labor only) and we were very impressed. He took care to check in with me ahead of time - even when we had to do a crazy phone tag thing for two days he was persistent. I found him to be extremely professional. He took care to move things using our blankets so nothing would get scratched. He and his partner somehow fit our couch into our apt elevator sparing the hideous carrying down six flights of stairs (should have hired him when we moved in!). He and his partner were helping us move while it was snowing and they worked quickly but effectively even with some ice on the sidewalk (My friend and I shoveled most snow but some patches of iciness remained when they arrived). I had a great experience overall! The good: the fees were pretty much exactly as stated. There was an extra $25 fee hidden somewhere (driving fee or something like that) but I figured that wasn't so bad as far as these things go. 2 guys came, they were strong, experienced, and extremely hard working. They didn't even want to take a break for water, I was amazed. They worked for 4 hours and only slowed down slightly at the end. I trusted them with my things. The bad: the only bad thing is that they came 30 minutes later than promised. Not a big deal. Bottom line: great experience, I would definitely move with them again! read more

I used A&A Moving over the holiday weekend (July 3rd) and Alanzo and his guys were amazing! Alanzo was quick to respond to my text messages and answered all of my questions. Then, his guys (Rio and Aaron) were wonderful! We had just put in new hardwood floors in our house and both Rio and Aaron were VERY cautious about picking of the furniture to set in place. Alonzo provided personalized, hands-on attention for every step of the move, including an initial site visit to our home, and on-site supervision and active engagement in every step of the move, storage, and transport. He worked flexibly with us to accommodate our requirements and provided a worry-free move. His staff were great, hard-working, responsible, honest and friendly. Alonzo was always very responsive, speedily returning our calls, texts, and emails. Everything arrived in good condition and according to schedule. I've had several movers over the years and I can definitely say Alonzo and his crew were top notch. I had to change the time a few times and they were extremely flexible. Alonzo kept me updated via text on his eta and arrived on time and ready to work. They brought dollies and blankets with them to ensure a fast and safe move. They wrapped everything and did not break, scratch or damage any of my items or any walls/floors. His prices were great! Actually cheaper per hour when you take into account he brings his own dollies and blankets. I pray I don't have to move again anytime soon. I've done 7 moves, being military and this company was in the bottom tier. They didn't bring enough furniture pads, no plastic wrap, they did have 1 furniture dolly, but no hand trucks - hence all boxes were inefficiently carried by hand wasting a lot of time and using too much effort. They also left a giant scar in the driveway (from the moving truck) and a large hole in my wall moving a couch. They offered to return the next day and repair the damage, then never returned and didn't respond to calls or texts. All in all, they were very nice guys, but didn't have great work ethic and were poorly organized and poorly supervised. I would love to have paid them a flat fee, but they wouldn't accept any terms other than hourly - now I understand why. In a pinch, I'd use them again, but only as a last resort. read more

Moved on 8/24/19 and my daughter's bed was not put together properly and the frame broke that night when she laid down. DO NOT HIRE THEM. They stuffed a full 2 bdrm apartment into the smallest truck they had. The owner, Alonzo pretended that he would reimburse for the frame he broke and the cost of the new frame; he asked for the original cost and cost of new frame before sending reimbursement. Sent everything this today, 9/17/19 and his response was he didn't break the $78 bed frame. WHAT? WHO ELSE DID? I moved my college graduate from Ohio and it was fine and other movers moved us to another apartment in Virginia on 7/20/19 and it was not broken then either. Why did it break when his company moved it. Instead of paying full price for both bed frames, he only sent via cash app the cost of one bed frame and then had the snarky response that he didn't break the cheap frame. My response of who did ignited rage and he is now no longer paying for what he originally agreed to pay for. Horrible business practices. Skip this company at all costs - he talks a good game nut you will not be happy. Guess I have to see if he's insured. Can I also state this 1 mile move cost over $900. Save your money. If one of the other companies were available that day, never would have used him. I used other movers who were more professional and cheaper when I left Maryland to move to Virginia. I was asked to leave a good Yelp review and luckily I didn't that day because it was more money out of pocket to buy another bed frame. No one with 15 years experience acts so unprofessional. We called the next morning about the broken bed frame. It took some time to get a 3 year old bank statement that he knew was a waste of time. SCAMMER. Just a quick update on how the packing job fared over 2,500 miles. It was one bumpy ride out west and nothing in the trucked moved! Unprofessional when speaking about damages. He was rude and callous and showed a true lack of care as a business person. Please read through the bad reviews and reviews that "did not make the cut". Showed up with a small truck and tried to squeeze everything into it. Verbally agreed to reimbursement for damages and when given the receipts for the previous purchase and new purchase of furniture (that had to be purchased due to their inability to properly put back together) decided that we, the paying customers, were wrong and no longer wanted to reimburse nor compensate for the damage and loss. Disgusted by his actions and would not recommend. Find a more professional business that has the correct equipment and won't try to fit a 2 bedroom apt into a minivan size truck read more

I have used A&A moving twice, the first time I booked through the Uhaul site and second time on my own because I was happy with the first move. The first time, I had driven my stuff cross country, and all they needed to do was unload into my apartment and a storage unit. Alonzo (who is the owner) and Julio were fast, efficient, but careful also. It made me realize how bad my movers in Chicago were. I used them a second time, to move stuff out of storage and my apartment into a high rise apartment. It obviously took longer because of multiple stops and elevator, and having to pack the truck, but I never felt like they were moving slowly in order to have more "pay by hour" time, which I have seen with other movers. I had same two guys this time, and Julio even remembered me and my furniture, including the dining room table my movers in Chicago broke. I would say for the price point, they are a great option in the area. I don't know what larger moves are like with more than two people, but for a smaller move with two, it went great. They even rented a truck for me, because I was moving alone and didn't want to deal with picking up and returning a truck. Definitely worth the small extra fee. I would definitely use them again. read more

I would stop give 0 stars if possible. My move was July 2012. You were living with a jealous girlfriend and you broke the base off of my almost brand new 46" Samsung tv and took it with you so that you could order the proper replacement piece. That never happened and eventually your phone number was disconnected. I stand by my review - you lied to get my business; I hired you to pack because I had just gotten out of the hospital, my husband was in Afghanistan and the day after the move I had an appointment with a neurosurgeon. read more

A & A Moving held little to no regard for our goods. My wife and I hired two movers from this company for an apartment unloading. We arrived from out of state with a 22' uhaul, and had to meet with the property manager for some last minute signings before we were allowed access to the apartment. While we were with the manager and the movers were unloading outside, it began raining very hard. Instead of attempting to reach us by phone or come and find us, they left whatever goods they had unloaded out in the rain and waited for us to return. As soon as we realized it was raining outside, we ran to the truck to find the movers had taken shelter among our dry goods in the truck and had left the door wide open letting water trickle halfway down the floor of the truck, getting much of our dry goods wet. If you care about your belongings, don't hire any movers from this company. read more

DO NOT USE THIS MOVER!! I have scheduled a moving at 10 am today and they never show up. I was waiting for an hour and half, kept calling, leaving messages, and texting, but just got no reply at all. All calls goes to voicemail and have not get any call back even till now, 7 pm. I don't know why they got 5 star ratings here, but the experience just aweful! If you want to mess up all your schedule, plans and ruin your good mood, go with them! read more

We recently hired A&A Moving to help us move from our apartment to a single family home. When we called to schedule the moving day etc. we spoke directly to Alonzo, the owner, received a phone call confirming the night before, and the moving team showed up 10 minutes early in order to "asses the situation," prior to starting. They did an awesome job, and, unlike the reviews of other companies, we were charged exactly what we discussed over the phone; there were NO additional charges because we had stairs and no elevator, or adding an additional hour for travel etc. (there was a small flat fee for travel but far less than an additional hour like other companies charge). The team did an awesome job handling our belongings, was courteous, and very professional. Alonzo, even called us personally later that afternoon to make sure everything went smoothly and that we had no complaints. It took roughly 4 hours for a team of 3 guys to complete the move (which included 3 flights of stairs at the apartment with some VERY heavy pieces of furniture). All-in-all, I don't think you can find a better company at this price point. read more

I have used this company twice and I have to say I am in the process of hiring them again...Very professional and they arrived on time and loaded the truck properly. I have expensive furniture, and expensive electronics so I had concerns about the level of care and they took care of it. I am buying a home and this company will be used again. Excellent, start to finish. Leaving town for the summer, we needed to put our household goods in storage. Our movers were on time, efficient and hard working. We had a three hour window to empty my apartment and have it stored into a storage unit before they closed at 6 pm. I thought my unit was large enough, but after getting our household goods into the truck and we started loading the unit it looked way to small. Our mover shifted into space utilization mode and was able to fit everything in, without an inch to spare and by 6. Did I mention it was hot and poured rain during the move? Our movers we're kind, careful and hardworking. We will DEFINITELY call them again when we move back into town and move our stuff back into our new home! read more

We have used A&A Moving on 2 occasions and on both occasions they have proven to be professionals through and through. Alonzo and his co-worker (sorry I forgot the other gentleman's name) arrived on time, were friendly, had a great attitude, they did everything possible to make the move as easy as possible for my disabled mother. They used great care both in loading her furniture and valuables in the truck and maximizing the space in the truck to ensure everything fit. Alonzo made her feel comfortable and like everything would be taken care of by asking several times throughout the experience, if there was anything else that she needed. They went above and beyond when my mom grossly underestimated how much stuff she had and they ended up staying more than 4 hours past when they were supposed to be done, ensuring that she and her belongings would make it to her new house (4 states away) in time to meet the other movers the next morning. I would not hesitate to recommend A&A Movers to anyone, and hope to be able to use them again, should I have to move again. read more
