I had an average lunch at Interurban. They did some things right, some things okay, but nothing wrong. I arrived at Interurban around 12:30 on a Thursday. It wasn't very crowded, so I was seated immediately. My server approached and I had my water within a couple of minutes of being seated. So far so good. I perused the menu and went with the chopped salad and soup of the day: loaded potato. The food arrived after around 10 or so minutes. The chopped salad is large enough, certainly a meal salad. It is served with a BBQ Ranch, which is a combo dressing I usually like, but this one just didn't work for me. And, wanting a full chopped salad experience, I put it on the whole thing and mixed it up. So, that was a bummer, should have dipped. There is plenty of chicken, although that could have used some more seasoning. The veggies were fresh. I would probably get this again, but with a different dressing. The soup was far better. It wasn't as thick as some potato soups, which is fine. It had plenty of large chunks of potato and was seasoned very well. I typically need to add at least pepper to most potato soups, but not this one. No salt or pepper required. Interurban is a classic Norman joint with a standard American casual dining menu. I'll be back for pizza and burgers soon. read more

I got the salmon wedge salad curbside pick up. The salmon was a little dry because they put the butter in the side which is fine. The wedge salad was okay but the feta cheese and tomatoes on top added a nice flavor. Queso was delish. I would get the salad again as a healthy option, but wouldn't crave it. read more

Nice decor, helpful staff. Had the Cuban sandwich. They make it on ciabatta bread rather than true Cuban bread, but still very good. Manager made a personal visit to see how my meal was. Free refills on Coke and free WiFi. What's not to like? (Oh - went back that night and had the pizza. Was totally lame. Honestly this food was like a sad, pathetic version of what food used to be. Let's start at the beginning, our server comes to the table, no introduction to welcome to interurban just what do you want to drink. From there we ordered drinks, I received not one but 2 hot beers after asking for a cold one. Then we ordered queso that was reminiscent of crappy gas station day old food but with less flavor. Then to the meals, I ordered a steak and potato. I received something resembling shoe leather, and a potato with zero fixings. Upon asking for them o received raw bacon and lettuce.... Uhhh ok? Covering the steak with A1 didn't even help... no saving that sad sad cow. My husband ordered enchiladas that he said reminded him of 2 day old pulled chicken that had been repeatedly microwaved to death. The only and I mean only thing that gave me any sence of seasoning was the cinnamon in the butter. Do your a favor and eat anywhere else. read more

I happened to get dinner at Interurban on my way to Houston and OMG! what a surprise this place was! I ordered takeout so I could eat in my hotel room. I had the southwestern egg rolls which had the most amazing green chile sauce with it, and then the salmon dinner which had a nice crispy finish to it and was absolutlely delicious. This place is just the right distance for a motorcycle ride to go eat. I don't think I've gotten a dish here I didn't like. My wife loves the "Chelsea's Chicken" dish. She also really enjoys the bacon that comes on it. The staff is super friendly and efficient. It's well worth the visit. read more

Had the Salmon dinner. It was cooked properly, but the preparation wasn't so good. It had a sour taste that was unpalatable. I could feel my stomach turning and roiling as I ate. I knew I was in for a rough time later on. I'm just glad I had some mints with me to help minimalize the discomfort. One other time we ate here one of our party ordered the meatballs. The person who ordered them said they were terrible. I tasted them and immediately spit it out. The taste was grossly terrible as if the cook just started grabbing spices off the shelf and threw them in without a clue. It's funny that sometimes the food is good, other times it's like the cooks seem like they're straight off the street. There have been times we've eaten here that the fare was generally tasty and palatable. But Oh, boy! Watch out for the times when the food isn't good because it's worse than bad. read more

The food here is amazing. They have a variety of options from fajitas to burgers to blackened tilapia. I had the blackened tilapia and it was delicious. First off, the place looks like a DMV or a public library. It couldn't possibly be more uninteresting to look at, with the single exception of the Interurban Flyer out front, which is a sad attempt to liven up the facade. It shall be know from this point forth as "Mr. Grumpy Truck." Secondly, it's a place called Interurban that's staffed entirely by white, racist, teenagers. My band was returning to Kansas City from a week-long run in Texas. We yelped restaurants in Norman, so we could stop and eat somewhere to break up the twelve hour drive. This place won our vote, somehow. When we walked into the place, it was empty. There were maybe two tables of customers. Total. They walked us to the back of the restaurant by the service station and seated us out of sight of the rest of the restaurant. When I asked the server/host if they put us back there as a result of our two Mexican crew-members, he just walked away. The food is boring, bland, and expensive, for what it is. More importantly, during the entire tooth-pull of a staggeringly uncomfortable experience, we heard nothing but lounge covers of 80's metal classics. Just had dinner at Interurban on Ed Noble Parkway. This is one of my family's favorite restaurants. Usually we have great service. Tonight was a letdown. Our waiter, Misael G., according to our ticket seemed lost or disinterested. In the past whenever one of us ordered one of the excellent Mexican dishes we received complementary chips & salsa. Tonight I ordered the Pulled Pork Enchiladas. Dinner came without the chips & salsa. I asked our waiter if the restaurant had stopped this practice. He told me, rather lamely, that I was supposed to ask for them. The funny thing is that this has never happened in the past. Now, the meal was as good as always. The service was lacking. If you haven't had the peppered honey bacon at Interurban, you're really missing out. Interurban is a small chain that originated in Norman, and there's finally a new site up on the restaurant strip that is Ed Noble Parkway. I've been going to Interurban in Edmond since I was a kid, and it has really re-invented itself in the last few years into a premiere, classy American-style restaurant. Likes: They serve a wide variety of meals including burgers, Mexican dishes, steaks, and various fish, and I have yet to experience one that I have been displeased with. Typically though, I give in to the extremely thick, juicy, smokey, peppered honey bacon and order a simple bacon cheeseburger. I honestly don't know much about this place that is negative at all, and I would like to give it 5 stars, but I'm very picky about throwing around a top ranking like that. Dislikes: This place is better than good - it's great, but it's not really really ridiculously you'll never eat anywhere else in your life kinda great. Overall, not bad. Rolls are pretty good, kinda hard on top but nice flavor. Amazing with the honey butter. Queso is alright, not the most flavorful but could be worse. Salsa is very mediocre, too watery with too big of chunks. Chips are crisp but not salty enough. Main course: I got the Rusty's pasta salad, but calling it a pasta salad is a stretch. Sure i guess, technically its pasta salad. but it's 90% lettuce, 4% pasta, 2% everything else, and 100% bad. The dressing tasted like it was bought at a dollar general. My boyfriend got the Dixieland Bow tie pasta, and quote, "the T.G.I. friday's frozen pasta meals are better". dinner was disappointing but service was fine. the curbside pickup is nice. i'd come back and try something else. read more

Me and the family came here on Easter and I went with their weekly brunch buffet. It was a good and bad choice and here is why: Good: Fresh selection of salads and cold pastas. Delicious muffins and pastries. Bad: The hot items like the egg scramble, hash browns, pot roast and fried catfish all seemed dry and not very fresh although many people continued through the line and the staff was changing out trays in a timely manner. The others in my group enjoyed their food though. My sister got half pasta half salad and it was hot and fresh as well as my grandma's Cali Club which came with their signature Honey Pepper bacon. Visited in March '13 for a friends birthday The birthday girl wanted to go somewhere nice that was within everyone's budget; however the habachi grill was closed that night, so she opted for Interurban. I personally didn't necessarily want to go. It seemed like an upscale Chili's. And it was. The food was eh and the service was pretty slow. We had to flag our waiter down multiple times to request an extra menu for a table set for 16 or so. When it came to drinks, he didn't follow up when we asked for just a couple more minutes. The bathrooms were quite nice, but it definitely doesn't make up for the food and service. For the price, my plate and drink really weren't worth it. read more

Anyway, since I have moved I have discovered REAL food. You know, the fresh kind? With flavor? I almost feel like I should be basing my opinion on Oklahoma standards and NOT the rest of the world. Anyway, Interurban was worse than a Chili's (and that's sayin' something). I went here because it was the 4th highest rated restaurant in Norman, and surely that means something, right? Wine selection: Slim to none. Cocktails: Sugar ridden pre - bought mixers type stuff. No fun stuff here, like unique drinks made with simple syrup or fresh herbs. We saw this while driving by and decided to give it a try. The food was decent. The meals we're around 9-12 bucks. I got the Teriyaki Chicken and was that was filling, the chicken was well cooked with a grilled pineapple on the top. My friends got the bow-tie pasta and they said that the chicken was good but the pasta was too thick. They also said that it wasn't spicy as the menu said. My friend got the sirloin and he said it was well cooked, but partly burnt. The baked potato wasn't as packed. The chips could've been more salted. My other friend got the BBQ chicken pizza and said, "It wasn't disappointing, but if I came back again, I wouldn't order it." The sweet tea wasn't something to get excited about either. So if you want an "average" dinner, come here. If you travel a lot, you can leave this out of your "unique place to eat at" list. read more

We had dinner here on our way home from Dallas. It was great food and excellent service! We split the Cajan Seafood Queso, a cup of White Chili, a Caesar Salad and the Grilled Salmon. Everything was freshly made and flavorful. The price was right too. We have had meals in many foreign countries and within the States and can could on one hand the most memorable. Interurban is a great place to eat if you aren't sure what you want, because they have a little bit of everything. They have steak, burgers, chicken, pasta, AND pizza! The service is hit and miss. It usually depends on who you get and what time it is. The bf got the firewood pizza (Monday's are pizza night and discounted!) and I almost always get Heather's Mac n Cheese. ORDER IT! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!! Other things I've had are the Okie Fries (mind blowing), steak (it's good), and the Cattleman Burger (burger was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was good but they put a little too much and it got EVERYWHERE.). Two friends and I went there on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated in a booth, in the bar area. The waiter was slow, and very noncommittal. The service was very slow, the food came out luke warm, and we had to ask for more tea and for silverware. We ordered two orders to go, and had to wait forever for them. My chicken was almost inedible, and the chicken tex mex we brought home ended up in the trash. Taco Bell is better. The beer biscuits they are so proud of could be used to vandalize windows. We were wondering why the parking lot was so empty at 5 in a Big Town and now we know. My husband ordered half a rack of ribs which were small in my cardboard way over cooked. I ordered sirloin well done and it come out still moving at me and bleeding. The only good thing about our visit was our waitress was awesome. We found Interurban during a short road trip using the Bring Fido app that identifies pet friendly places. We were blown away by the quality and taste of the food and the incredible service that Emily provided. All six of us ranging in age from 8 to 70 enjoyed our food so much that we decided to stop here again on our return trip only 2 days later! My dad said the pork chops were the best he's had. He loved the chicken tortilla soup so much he ordered it again on our return trip. My mom polished off her meal both times when she usually has leftovers. My teenage son was so impressed by the service he wanted to leave Emily an extra tip using his own money (she remembered he prefers his soda without ice)! My youngest lamented the fact we don't live in the state so can't eat there again anytime soon. Our pit mix loved hanging out with us on the gorgeous patio. If it's not obvious yet, I highly recommend stopping by if you get a chance, especially when you're passing through since it's just off I-35! read more

Most reviews on here of Interurban seem to be love or hate. The fact is, Interurban just isn't a love it or hate it kind of place. I've been to this establishment several times. The service is what you would expect from any typical chain restaurant with a medium sized wait staff. If you're looking for exotic recipes or new tastes, this probably isn't the best place - though they have some different-than-average choices. In short, Interurban is a nice restaurant with good food and good service. A nice change of pace from the usual Applebees or Chilis. Try it out a few times! read more

This was my second visit and it was not nearly as good as the first. We had the tuna and seafood pasta. The tuna didn't seem to taste like a high quality piece of fish and the vegetables were very very bland. The seafood pasta had good flavor but I had a bowl of Alfredo soup when I was finished, very watery. The house salad was very good. The club sandwich is very good and their bowl dishes that I've tried are good. read more

I have mostly positive things to say about this restaurant. The food is ok. It's good, but typical "chain" food that's prepackaged boil in a bag/comes in a 50 lb barrel stuff. The pizza is ok. I had pasta here. I've had a lot of other stuff, too. Everything was edible. What BOTHERS ME about this place is their blatant, open use of Mexican labor. (When 100% of the cooks are Hispanic and NONE of them speak English--- it makes you wonder. So maybe this place uses illegal labor??) The drinks however-- are their saving grace-- AND THERE IS A VERY MAJOR FACTOR IN WHY. Most other places (especially chains charge and EXTRA 21% liquor tax that most Okies don't notice, because it's "standard", but other people DO NOTICE. I NOTICED THIS PLACE INCLUDES the 21% liquor tax in their drink prices. So, if you add it up that's 1/5th of your bill you are saving vs eating at another chain. THIS INCLUDED LIQUOR TAX is the main reason I ate here so much. Saving 21% means a lot to me. The drinks also happened to be up my alley--- so I was happy with how they were made. read more

I've been there twice. The first time, it was completely unremarkable food and a completely unremarkable price. I figured that maybe it was an off day or something, and my wife and I decided we'd come back later. Next time we came back, got our drinks and made out order. My wife unwrapped her silverware, and her fork was covered in lipstick. I unwrapped mine, and it was covered in caked on, partially chewed food. We promptly asked for new silverware. She opened hers annnnnd CHEWED FUCKING FOOD!!! I opened mine and it was the same. We left without getting our food, or paying. One bad piece of silverware is forgivable. One round of bad silverware sketcky. Two in a row makes your kitchen staff incompetent, or lazy, or apathetic, or all three. read more

Since 1976 when they opened in Norman's old, abandoned "Interurban Trolley" station the Interurban has been serving u psome of the best food Norman has to offer! Interurban has long been one of my favorites and they do not disappoint with their new location on Ed Noble Parkway. The building is beautiful and it is always clean and inviting. I have never been when we weren't immediately greeted at the door and shown immediately to our seats. Usually we even get a smile or hello from a few of the waitstaff as we are being shown to our seats. Always very friendly! Not a lot of people may care, but being a music lover I have to admit that I could sit and just listen to the music that is playing at the Interurban all day! Never too loud and usually several times during the meal my wife and I will look at each other and say "hey, this is a great song! I remember this!" The waitstaff is always attentive without being overbearing or intrusive. They really pay attention to their tables and always seem very organized and are quick to return with anything that you ask for. Enough about the building and people, how about the food! Hands down some of the freshest and most delicious food to be had in Norman! There are over 50 items on the menu and that is not counting the sides and desserts! My wife and I always enjoy trying something new when we go there and we can do it with confidence because we know it will be fresh and not over-spiced or under-cooked. Always seems to be just right. A few suggestions? Well, you CANNOT miss the beer-batter biscuits with butter. They are incredible! The "lite" chicken pasta salad is good (and I'm a steak man!). The teryaki chicken has been around forever and is always a favorite. The hamburgers are top-notch. The apricot chicken was a delicious surprise! If you want a place to try something new, this is definitely it! There always seems to be room at the Interurban and never a long wait if there is one at all! My hubby and I came for dinner this evening. We had to wait 5-10 min for anyone to come take our drink order. Our waitress gave me Diet Coke instead of Dr. Pepper and didn't fix it right away. We ordered motz cheese sticks for an app and they were pretty good. Hubby got chicken fried steak special and I ordered the pasta special but didn't get what I ordered. I told our waitress and she tried to fix it but at that point I was over it. We paid $35 all together and was just disappointed. I am so excited that the Interurban is back in Norman! I have missed it for so long! I would always make a stop if I was in Oklahoma City, but now they are right here in Norman. The beer muffins alone are a reason to eat here. They have so many options it is the perfect place to go with a group of people.
