I have what I have described as the Computer From Hell which I purchased in desperation 2 years ago. It could take up to 15 minutes from when I turned it on to be able to use it. I knew I could not go through another tax return with it. The first place I went, I didn't feel confident they would fix it. I went back and picked it up the next day. An on-line search took me to Intrex. As soon as I put it on the counter, the young man said, Oh I can show you what this needs. In 3 days I have a computer that works like you would expect. It cost $100 to have this albatross fixed. I paid more than that because I had them add additional memory in order to put all my photos on it. It's nice to talk to people that know what they are doing. Reasonable prices and experienced people. read more

I've been to this store before, but was quite surprised to how bare and empty the space was since the pandemic. The guy that came out to help was really nice, but advised that he was unable to to help us with our computer problems because we had an older laptop. We still need more independent local businesses. This is one of the local computer parts and reply shops. Yes, it is a chain, but it was started local, and is only local. Their prices are comparable to the big box stores, and they carry many items that the box stores do not. I went inside to get a USB A to USB A cable (I know that was Greek or g33k for some) and they carried a nice long one in stock. The sales associate was nice when I purchased the cable, but that was the last I received with good service there. When I got home the cable did not work. I tried to use it on different devices, yet to no avail, I had to return it to the store. When I went inside the store there were 2 sales associates. Before one of the associates would even consider starting the return he demanded to know what I was trying to use it for. I think he thought I was using it for a different purpose and I was too stupid to know which cable does what as he made a comment about the cables purpose and uses. I told the salesperson that it was for my external hard drive, and he said that my HD was defective and there was nothing wrong with the cable. I have no idea how he can state that when he didn't see, or even know which external HD I was using. So I went and got my HD out of the car and told him that he can check it himself, and I even brought a different cable with me that I bought from another store that worked, so I had proof it was not my equipment. At that point, he just stormed off and another associate had to help me process the return. The only reason why they received a couple of stars was because of the hard to find, or specialty parts that they carry. All of the other stars disappeared because of the lack of customer service. read more

Did BIOS update and deleted my Windows profile but kept data. Took to Intrex - they repair profile through Ad Hoc methods- well Computer is less 2 years old. This Ad-hoc made operating system unable to be upgraded to Windows 11. Windows alerts stated unable to upgrade windows 11. Took computer back and they acknowledged they Rigged my computer to get it to work and wanted 250 dollars get it back for up grade - they suggested keep Rigged computer because Windows 11 not worth it. Stay away from them. Took to BB Geek and it was repaired. This place is rigged like my computer read more

While I still do most of my IT purchases online, Intrex has been a great standby for when I "need it NOW".... I have found their prices have become much more reasonable for generic parts. I still do all my own repairs so still cannot comment on their service department. read more

I went to Intrex when my laptop shut down and would not turn back on. My laptop was under warranty and Intrex had great reviews, so I figured they'd be able to help me. The diagnostics fee was huge, I had to pay $140 upfront for diagnostics. It turned out that the motherboard needed to be replaced and I was told this would take a week or two, since they had to order in the parts. When they called me back after just 3 days, I was thrilled to pick up my laptop!! here's when the issues started: 1) when they "fixed" my laptop, they broke the keyboard, that cost me an extra $107, and they unapologetically told me that things like that happen.. computers are very delicate.(wow) 2) my HP envy laptop is touch screen.. well, WAS touch screen. When I got home, I realized that the touch screen feature did not work anymore, I figured it was just turned off.. but it's not even listed under the software now. no way to get it back. A few days after I get my laptop back, it broke again. They had failed to properly put the laptop back together properly and a screw had gotten loose, it was coming OPEN.. what a mess. I went back and they got it to work again. While I was there, I asked about the touch screen feature, and whether they could work on getting it back on there, they pretty much told me there was no way to know IF it worked properly before.. that they weren't calling me a liar but there's no proof they messed that up and that it wasn't their problem. Anyway, I spent $600 out of my $700 warranty at this place. It was outrageously expensive and the repair guy was very unpleasant to work with, and surely unprofessional, and in the end, my nice touch screen computer isn't even touch screen anymore... save yourself some trouble and money and go somewhere else! read more

We've used this place before for computer work because both my husband and I do NOT like to work on computers. We've used them because they are a local business and they are very close to our house- win/win. And in most cases, they've done a good job (albeit sloooow to get things fixed). This last experience has soured me on this Cary location though because while I don't care to deal w/ computer issues, I don't like to get bamboozled either. And, in this case, one terrible service experience is enough to wipe out the rest of our positive interactions w/ this business. Problem: Spouse loaded a special program on laptop to watch a bike race in Europe. After that, we clearly had some virus/malware/whatever it's called, I hate it and didn't want to deal w/ it. week 1 Tuesday: Took laptop into Intrex. Service guy said that they'd seen similar issues w/ same website (Isport.com for any other racing fans). They told us up front they wouldn't be able to work on it until Saturday. That's fair that they told us up front. If it was me, I would have pushed them on this, but spouse was okay w/ it. - Went all week w/out laptop (delays in invoicing, taxes, etc. all on delay)...but, that's okay cause it would be fixed Saturday, right? Monday: Called Intrex. Nope. Still working on it.. didn't bother to call us, but they said it had to have tests run. Tuesday: Called Intrex. Nope. Still working on it.. didn't bother to call us, tests still running. Service person rather snottily asked my husband if we'd like it back w/out knowing if everything was fixed. Wednesday: Called Intrex. Nope. Still working on it.. didn't bother to call us, tests still running. Spouse called BS on that and asked that it be unplugged and ready to be picked up. Still charged 179.00 for this horribly slow and unsatisfactory service. And, I don't know what state my computer is in... very frustrating. read more

The strip mall this location is in is CRAPTASTIC and I'd much rather wait and head to Cary Prices were great on Laptop Hard drives when I was there this week - which I LOVE. Not really any customer service. I came in, asked for what I wanted...they had it, I left. No smile or hello or any of that. Incompetent and arrogant staff. Went here to get memory for my laptop. Associate advised compatible memory for my laptop. Memory didnt work for the laptop and I was hit with 15% restocking fee for returning it. Restocking fee wasnt mentioned when I purchased the item, only that I have 15 days to return. So I had the worse experience that I could have got for the repair of my CPU. I went in the morning and the person in-charge told me to pay $59 for diagnosis and told me that I should be able to get it back the next day (which is fine). Later, the guy called me up and told me that he needs to take out the components and ADD SCREWS to the mobo because they are lose. For this task alone - he would charge an additional $80 and he is not certain if i.e. the solution, which means that I would have to end up paying more if in case there are additional issues. Diagnosis means that the professional understands that there is a solution and that there are no issues to be addressed, be it the first. Additionally, I expect that diagnosis includes labor charge and the process to take out the components and fixing small screws are not charged for an additional $80. This was extremely disappointing for which I ended up paying $60 for diagnosis. read more

Terrible service. I called and was told one price get to the store and magically the price is $40 more than the price I was quoted for a i3 10100 cpu. So the guy helping me was a sneaky jackaxx. I told him I was quoted $120 on the phone. He said there is nothing he can do but the price is $159. I asked if he could ask his fellow employees if they spoke with anyone regarding the i3 10100. He said its just a bunch of guys back in the back. Since you couldn't browse the store I asked him what was the price on a board I seen marked in clearance. He knew nothing about the board and said he couldn't help me on that board because it wasn't entered in the system correctly. Yet the board was sitting on the table. I said ok. Then, I ask him the price on a new msi z490-a pro motherboard I seen. He said its $190 plus tax. I ask him why is it so expensive. He said because we are a brick and mortar store. I looked the board up. And best buy closer to my house had it for $134. So I left the expensive PC part store and bought everything from best buy except the GPU for my gaming computer. They will never see me again. Nor will I refer anyone. I work in the I.T field btw. read more

I brought my laptop to Intrex in Raleigh, because its screen would no longer light. The laptop was booting, but you could no longer see the screen. Via YouTube I had already "diagnosed" it to be a LCD screen "inverter", but was willing to pay the $50 diagnosis fee shown on their website for an "expert" opinion. Well, when I got to Intrex, I was told the diagnosis fee for a laptop was $140, not $50. While it sounded like bait and switch to me, I explained that the laptop was over 8 years old, and I do not want to pay much more than the now $140 fee to fix it. Looking at their website again today, I see that the laptop diagnosis fee is $100, and the sign at the store says $150. I agreed to pay the $140 fee for the diagnosis fee, and dropped off the laptop while concerned that the clerk did not want to provide me with a claim receipt! Anyway, I got a call the next day to say that they disassembled the laptop, diagnosed it to be an inverter AND LCD SCREEN, but they have been unable to find the parts because the laptop was too old. So my response was, OK, please put it back together, and I will pick it up. The technician said "you want me to put it back together" as if dumbfounded?" I responded that I was going to pay $140 for the entire diagnosis and they weren't going to do any repairs until I consented, so yes, I expected them to put it back together. The technician explained that it didn't make sense for him to put it back together, so he would give it to me in a box, and cut the fee to $60. Sounded like a reasonable response, and although I have never assembled or disassembled a laptop, I am technologically proficient after 35 years in Information Technology. When I returned to get the laptop in the box, it was pretty close to completely disassembled, blu-ray drive removed, hard drive removed, memory accessed, screen removed, top removed, keyboard removed, internal wiring unplugged, etc. etc. I paid the $60 plus tax, and was on my merry way with my laptop in a box. Well, it was like putting together a model without instructions! I identified the inverter I needed, went on ebay and bought one for $5.85 shipped, plugged it in, and rebuilt the laptop that was way more in pieces than it needed to be! The laptop booted up fine, and everything is now OK, for a $5.85 part, their $64 rip off, and my time to rebuild. Don't go there! read more

I took my daughter's lap top in for a repair this past week. I was so fortunate to have Will in the service dept to help me. He was so kind and even had to clean out a roach nest from the inside of the computer!! ugh!! Will fixed it and cleaned it out and did it all quickly and with a great attitude. read more

Wow. What service. I took my computer in on Tuesday and it was ready on Thursday. The clerk was friendly and knowedgable. When he called me to tell me what was wong I was impressed that he could reinstall everything and fix my problem for only $100.00. Great service and quick turnaround. My HP laptop was making horrible noises. Turned out it was the fans. Intrex replaced them and checked everything out. Oddly, it runs better than when it was new. I was always having overheating problems and now that is over. They have typical prices, but are better than certain other big box store services which I have used for years. My experience with Intrex Computers in Raleigh has been great, and I would gladly recommend them to anyone who needs a repair to their computing equipment. I have used this Intrex location for problems 3 times, with two different computers, and in each case they have solved my problem quickly and affordably. Just today, I took my laptop in because of damage it incurred when it took a nasty fall from a chair directly onto its side where the electrical cord was plugged in. I dropped it off at about noon, and it was fixed by 6PM. The technicians are always willing to answer my computing questions. I had taken my laptop in for a screen repair, they first did not properly reattach my screen and second left or broke something off in my laptop. when i had brought it back they fixed the screen which is the only reason they got one star, the tech talked to me like i was an idiot and refused to look at the part that feel out of CD drive. When it was brought in and was asked to check for that part after they had looked they either refused or felt it was unneeded but I still want to know where this part came from my computer or your messy workplace. read more
