Beware of This Dental Office - They Overcharge Patients I strongly advise against trusting this place--they will find ways to make you pay more than you should. I visited IO Dentistry for a chipped tooth and was advised to get a crown. I agreed, but that's when the nightmare began. During my initial visit, I was told my copay for the crown would be $431.25, which I paid in full. The procedure was done, and I was given a temporary crown while waiting for the permanent one. When I returned to have the permanent crown placed, I was suddenly informed by the finance representative, Melissa, that there was a "mix-up" and that my insurance covered less than expected. She demanded an additional $223.50 before they would proceed. Frustrated but feeling trapped, I paid it--I was stuck with a temporary crown and had no choice. The next day, I contacted my insurance provider to understand why I had to pay more than originally quoted. To my shock, they told me that my maximum out-of-pocket cost for this procedure should have been $300.00--the amount pre-approved under their in-network pricing. They advised me to file a grievance and confront the dental office. When I returned with documentation from my insurance, Melissa acted clueless and stumbled over her words, as if she never expected me to verify the charges. After some back and forth--and only after I mentioned getting an attorney--she finally refunded $200.00 to my card. However, I was still overcharged by $150.00 beyond my approved copay. At that point, I decided to cut my losses just to be done with the ordeal. It's a shame because Dr. Nguyen was great--kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Unfortunately, the unethical billing practices of this office make it impossible for me to trust them again. If you choose to go to IO Dentistry, I strongly urge you to verify all costs with your insurance BEFORE making any payments. Melissa has done this to other patients, and there's no telling how many people have unknowingly overpaid. Don't fall for it! read more

Absolutely insane. Do not come here unless you want to be sold a scammy horror story about your teeth. I was referred by my dentist, which has caused me to literally change dentists overnight. I came here yesterday for a single implant, and instead, I was whisked away to do full X-rays of my mouth, then told that every single one of my teeth has cavities that will cause me to need porcelain veneers on every one of my teeth after drilling and filling the entire top row. I was even shown highly contrasted X-rays that were inaccurate, showing that some of the damage was so bad, that I would need to drill immediately or risk losing the tooth. There was an attempt to sell me on a plan for every single tooth in my house, every implant, every veneer, every filling. This is not at all what I came in for. I asked for 24 hours to think. Best decision I ever could have made. The tactic that these offices use is to get you in, tell you a terrifying story about the many consequences of your teeth as they are now, and sell you on as many services as possible by exaggerating the state of your teeth. They lie and manipulate the facts to get you to do what they want, and the worst part is, they sell you on carecredit plans you can't afford. Read the other 1-star reviews. The next day, I went to a reputable and HONEST dental office in my area. They laughed when they heard what I had gone through. Apparently, it's a scummy tactic that gets used by the more corporate dental practices to push production, and just because an image is dark doesn't necessarily mean there's a cavity. In my case, many of my teeth were simply discolored or demineralized in areas where there were very simple and CHEAP fixes. The new and infinitely better office also advised me that for the ONE IMPLANT that I had hoped to get, it would actually look more aesthetically appealing to do a fixed bridge, and they broke down all my options without pushing for ANY pressure to complete ANYTHING right there and then. The plans were all cheaper and without mountainous interest piled on. DO NOT come here, and if you have, DO NOT agree to whatever plan they attempt to sell you on. So I had a toothache and needed to go see a dentist. I made an appointment here based on a recommendation from a friend. Little nervous hadn't been to a dentist in a minute. Everyone was so sweet. The girl that took my xrays and my hygienist were very professional and friendly. There was very little wait time. Met the whole office, felt like family. No cavities but I have to have some major work. Office manager explained everything in detail! Super sweet and helpful. We scheduled my next visit. Quick and simple. Personally I don't trust the staff here. I had a procedure done where they brought me back to the front- still groggy- to tell me that they make a mistake and it would be MORE expensive than what we agreed to prior to operation. The issue was that the main assistant woman was at lunch and the front desk person had me SIGN a contract for a lesser amount than they wanted. Really terrible. Also, during the little operation I had to CONSTANTLY ask the periodontal person what she was about to do and what to expect. She did not have any customer service at this time and kept surprising me with new stuff in my mouth for hours. She didn't explain the massive teeth staining I would endure from the mouthwash I was given either. The only reason this place gets a 2-star is because the dentists themselves actually seem good. Also, the periodontal operation went well, so they have skills. I went to them when they were under a different name as well but I hope they can get their staff together because they are very pushy and I get the car salesman feeling from them- especially the main assistant woman. I live in the southern part of Dallas county and I literally drive quite far out of the way (and have for the last three years) to Fairway Dental because of their customer service. Hands down, you will not find better customer service. They know you by name, they remember you, and they truly care about you as a person as well as your dental needs. The entire staff is warm, caring, and friendly and I have recommended them to several friends and family members. They even sent me a gift card for my referral. I was so shocked when I received it in the mail - I knew they were great at customer service, but that was definitely unexpected. Bottom line: No matter how far this place is from where you live, this should be the only place you consider for your dentistry needs. read more

IO Dentistry is very professional and I just love Melissa and La Sha the hygienist it GREAT! They do a great job and get you right in for your appointments. I have been going here now for about 14 years now and I have never had a problem. Even when I broke a tooth they got me right in and got me fixed up. Since I don't have dental insurance they help me get a care now account to pay for the crown, then they recommended Thrive dental plan which help we pay for my dental work and cleanings. If I could give them negative stars I would!! This place has the worst orthodontist department, not the Dr. or assistants, it's the office staff. Part of it is my fault, I should have done more research than I did. They are only there one Friday a month so if something happens in between, they basically tell you, you have to wait to be seen but the dentistry part will do what they can to macgyver it till then. That is if you actually ever get in touch with the ortho office staff because you have to call the dentist office and they send an email for someone to call you back. I showed up for my first appt after they opened back up from Covid and all of a sudden I have to have my teeth cleaned before they will see me again. Now not only is this the first time they even remotely mentioned it, I could not find it in the contract I signed. Either way I scheduled it but had to cancel because I had to have an emergent surgery. Before I could even say I would call back once I got through my surgery but before the next appt, they were already threatening me that I couldn't be seen etc. I had it done at a different dentist office before my scheduled orthodontist appt as I said I would but ended up back in the hospital the day of my ortho appt with complications from my surgery. I just called to reschedule now that I'm out and it appears as though they canceled it anyway because I didn't have my cleaning except I didn't receive a call asking if I did. Advised them I did have it done just somewhere else and I had the statement. They will not reschedule my appt till I email them the statement as well as a note stating I didn't have any cavities. I just got out of the hospital and now I have to do all this before even getting it rescheduled when I should be able to just show them before or at the appt. I would pick a different orthodontist office in a heartbeat if I could so PLEASE PLEASE make sure this is somewhere you really want to go before getting locked in withthem!! read more

We went there in October for my wife teeth and they told us she need 2 root cannel , 2 caps and a filling they did there x ray and all the exams and they send us to a specialist to do the root canals. After she did them and went back to finish they said ohh u need 2 more root canals and much more stuff bec the Doctor that checked her the first time doesnt know anything WTF what do u mean the doctor u have didnt know if he doesnt knw why u have him anw we did what they asked and also a surgery for 4 wisdom teeth and they said come back to put the caps with a month when she went back today hahahah they did more x rays i dont know why and they said she need 5 more root canals wow this place is a joke they even changed the damn Price everytime we went even for the same stuff!! Husband and I have both been going here for 10+ years. Dr Perez and staff are always prompt, friendly, and take great care to ensure our comfort. The office is calm, clean, and comfortable. The one time I had to go in for an emergency issue (cracked molar) a few years ago, Dr Perez saw me quickly and handled everything wonderfully. More recently I had to have a root canal done on an injured tooth, and it was completely painless. He's also created custom whitening trays for me. He's an absolute master at restorations. Dr. Perez works with his hygienists very well, you can tell he is interested in their development and learning as well. Front desk handles all the insurance claims competently, and scheduling appointments is a breeze. They have a great team at Fairway Dental! read more

Called and talked to Melissa to get in for just a cleaning since I loose my dental insurance in a week as I'm getting new insurance with a new job and they said no problem we have one opening next week for a cleaning and can get u in! I said great! I have my husband take off work to be home with our baby so I can have this cleaning done. I have an appointment at 2pm, they don't see me until 2:15pm, by the time they are done with x rays it's 3pm. I ask about when I'm getting my cleaning because I wasn't expecting X-rays or anything since I only wanted a cleaning and they said they arnt doing one because it'll take a whole hour for a cleaning to be done and instead they wanted to go over pricing for multiple root canals etc which came out to be around 3k AFTER insurance that I won't even have in a week. I specifically called just for a cleaning to be done and I made that clear. Huge waste of my time and very upset I didn't get a cleaning. read more

Dr. Perez is a competent dentist, and I have no issue with the work he did, but the front office staff can be rude and difficult to work with in scheduling appointments as well as billing questions. They are only open 4 days a week, which makes scheduling difficult, and new patient appointments are only available at a certain time of day each day. I was satisfied (not overly impressed) with the office at first, but I recently had a filling break and was in pain. I was dissatisfied with the office's compassion and ability to see me to fix the problem in a timely manner, so I have found another dental office to take care of my needs. I have also had an ongoing billing question with this office (my insurance says I overpaid by $500+) and have not had any response from them in 2+ months of phone calls and emails. read more

This is a great dental practice. My only complaint is that one of their hygienist is very heavy handed to the point where I had my cleaning at 900 am today and it's almost 630 in the evening and my teeth still hurt. My children also had this hygienist a few weeks ago and they said the same thing. When i told her it was hurting, she said I needed to brush and floss better. I've brushed and floss the same for years and have never had someone hurt me this badly before. read more

Fairway Dental is right across the street from my office, so that is part of the reason I chose them, but also because they had the best reviews out of all of the other surrounding offices. I was very pleased upon my arrival, the office is very clean and they even gave me a tour, which I had never experienced at any doctors office. Kelly and Amber at the front desk were very accommodating and friendly, and Kelly has been in great contact with me trying to reschedule my missed appointment. Caution: There is something wrong at this company. I called for an appointment and got voice mail...no problem. The following day I got a call from a person who identified herself as an employee to set up a time to come in...no problem. During the call they requested my insurance info...No problem. Then she requested my social security info over the phone...BIG PROBLEM. When I balked at giving that info to a stranger over the phone she said she understood. I promised to call her the next day instead...No problem, I thought. Later that day I got an email explaining why they needed my SS# emailed back to them. The email was polite but was not professionally formatted, did not have a logo, company address, links to their website or any of the things that make you feel more comfortable about who the sender is...BIG PROBLEM. So I declined to give them my social again and re-iterated that I would call them in the morning. At this time, my appointment was more than 2 weeks away, but for some reason they had to have my social security number right then...why? The next morning, I looked them up online and called the number...sure enough it was the same girl. I told her who I was and that I was ready to give her my personal info since now I knew I was talking to the right people. No problem, I thought again. That's when the "office manager" the got on the phone to tell me that relationships like these are built on trust and since I didn't trust them maybe we shouldn't build a relationship at all and that she was cancelling my appointment. What's amazing to me is that they just expected a perfect stranger to provide this info over the phone to someone they've never met, spoken to or seen before. And that they took it personally when I asked for a small common sense concession and respect for my point of view and let me call them instead. I would have trusted them if I had ever met them, ever been there before, ever spoken with them once I was allowed to deliver my delicate info in a way that respected my reasonable concern for privacy. This manager did me a huge favor by showing her true colors when I didn't blindly follow her orders before a real problem with a treatment or bill arose, (I can only imagine how that would have turned out) but she certainly didn't do any favors for her company and that's a BIG PROBLEM . Unless you are ready to blindly follow orders from people who don't respect your opinion, this may not be the right choice for you either. read more

Went to Dr. Perez for dental implants which he never completed because his office manager at the time wholly overbilled me and billed my insurance company incorrectly. In honesty, can't say much about his dental work because I barely had any done with this place. The nightmare is their questionable billing practices. I paid everything up front and my insurance company learned this practice billed them for a procedure more expensive than the one I actually received. So this office needs to refund my dental insurance for the overpayment. Next thing that happens is the office starts billing ME! After 3 years and no additional dental work. I've tried calling and left messages but no return. My attorney suggests I try one more time before turning it over to them. Stay away if you value your time and money. read more

Went to have a broken tooth looked at back in Jan. of 2015. Was told I needed a crown, no big deal. They put on a temp crown and all was good, no pain or anything. Went back for my permanent crown and it hurt non stop after they put it on, was told that my roots had died and needed a root canal. Had to go back 3 more times, even after the root canal because the crown didn't feel right and was always hurting throughout the day and I kept hitting it before any other teeth when biting down. Now 2 yrs. later, a large piece on the corner has broken off and there is a hole now in the crown and they are telling me that it isn't covered by them and I will have to pay the full amount to have it replaced. They said on the phone that they are designed to last 5 yrs. and if it had broken after the 5yr mark, my insurance would pay to have a new one put on but they won't pay if it breaks under 5 yrs. Why doesn't the crown itself have a warranty? I can understand paying for the work to be done but not the crown itself if it broke so soon, what if it was defective, how is that my fault? I also had a filling between 2 teeth that had been in place for over 10 yrs. it fell out and they had to replace that same filling 3 times within a year and said I needed special work done. Decided to go over to Infinity Smile and have them look at it when it fell out again. Infinity smile replaced the filling and it has been in place for almost a year now. read more
