I had just finished getting some groceries at ALDI after having arrived in the Twin Cities from the greater Toronto area. Next door to the grocery store, in a small plaza, was this iPho 2 eatery. For some reason, it's listed without the number on Yelp. On the sign, there's a clear 2 in its name. I drove over to this plaza and backed into an available space. Next door to this eatery was a diner. My original thought was to go there, but it was closed for the day at around 4:30 pm on a Wednesday. I walked in. I was immediately greeted by three people. I asked for a table and got one by the kitchen. It was cool seeing all the orders get picked up from a window right in front of me. Whenever I'm away from home, I tend to get pho. It's comfort food. I also crave it often. A large glass of water with ice came. I needed it. It was cold and perfect on an unseasonably warm 15°C March day. I got these items: - Diet Coke - Grilled pork fresh rolls - Beef flank and beef balls pho (regular) I got the nicest man who took my order. I asked him how large the large-sized pho bowl was. Portions are generous. I went with a regular instead, which was perfect. I got my Diet Coke. It came with ice in a cup. It hit the spot. The grilled pork fresh rolls were divine. They were stuffed to the max with vermicelli, grilled pork, and veggies. The grilled pork was tender and delicious, especially dipping it in the sauce. I loved my bowl of beef flank and beef balls pho. I added mint, bean sprouts, and a squeeze of lime. The beef flank was tender. The beef balls were sliced, which made picking them up with chopsticks a lot easier. The broth was excellent. I loved the thinly sliced onions in it. The green onions were also yummy. The noodles were perfect. The amount was indeed generous. I used the washroom before I left. It was clean. No issues. It is clear from the lucky cat's bracelets and the sign in front of the store that ICE was not welcome here. I was even happier to support a local business that wasn't afraid to point out how it felt. I paid with a credit card and tipped. The woman asked me how everything was. Tried out their second location for the first time. Got the bun Bo hue again to compare to the first location. Taste? 9/10 it was as spicy as the first location so I had to add more chili oil. But the meat portions were amazing. LOTS of tender meat. Noodles? A little too soft for my liking cuz I like mines al dente. But it's okay. Stopped by here for lunch the other day as I was in the mood for Pho and have been looking for a new place near work. This place is in a strip mall in a busy intersection with a few other things around it. Easy to find parking in the lot and easy to get to. The place is not very big and was pretty packed at lunch time. It is simple but clean and bright. I got seated right away and they brought a menu and some water. I was undecided between the Phở đặc Biệt (Combination Pho) and Bún Bò Huế (Spicy Vermicelli Soup) so I asked the server and she recommended the Pho. I ordered the x-large since I was hungry. The food didn't take long to come out. And initially I thought I made a mistake ordering the x-large because the portion size was quite big (the have an even larger size called the jumbo). I did end up having all of it but it was definitely more food than I needed. The Pho was very good. Not too sweet or salty. Had a good flavor and you could taste the spices. There was a very generous amount of meat and noodles in that big bowl. Came with your standard toppings of beansprouts, basil and jalapenos. The jalapenos were cut lengthwise instead of the standard discs which made for some really big pieces. Not a complaint just something I noticed as different than most places. The other thing that was different was the meatballs, which were sliced thinly instead of quartered lie in most restaurants. They did have decent flavor and the meats were all tender. It was definitely a delicious and generous bowl of Pho and I will be coming back here to try their Bánh Mì Bò and Bún Bò Huế. If you are in the mood for a good bowl of pho and are in the area, I would recommend giving this place a try. read more

This place is so delicious - we come on off hours (weekdays around 3) and it's still full. Some of the tables are occupied with solo diners, which is another indication about how good the food is! We got pho, bun Bo hue, and a bahn mi to split - everything was super delicious and authentic. Lots of sauce options on the table if you want to add some extra flavor - the broths are usually perfect on their own so we never do. The food was very good. I would be surprised if this wasn't a mom and pop shop. It definitely has that vibe. Mom and dad making food and their kids or nieces and nephews are working the front desk and serving food. The place is a little small, so when it's busy there isnt much seating room and it can get a little loud. There was only girl running food when we were there and all the seats were full. Clean, fast service and freaking amazing Pho. Been going here since they opened (20-25 yrs now?) and its just consistently great quality and quantity food. Decided to visit on a Sunday afternoon and it was definitely busy, but the service was still really quick! I ordered their regular sized pho and their portions were huge and worth it for the price. It comes with a plate of limes and mung bean sprouts which was a nice addition to the pho. I do wish there was more meat included in the actual bowl as the large size mostly consists of the noodles. It's no surprise that I love pho. You wanna check me? Check out my review history - I'm a certified pho fanatic. So then it's no surprise that upon moving to a new place, I HAVE to find a new go to pho spot. Thankfully, I'm familiar with iPho in St. Paul so I was happy to see a familiar face. Their menu in comparison is smaller but the favorites are there - pho, com, bun, and banh mi. Even bun bo hue, which I will be returning to try. Ordered my usual, the combination pho, and it as delicious as I remember - chock full of meat with a generous helping of rice noodles and flavorful broth, not too sweet. Service was speedy and friendly - the place is cozy enough that the staff remembers your order when you go up to pay for your meal and flit around to check on you as you dine. The place definitely gave me vibes of being a local, family run business which made me feel right at home. Shout out to the two girls on the staff blasting Taylor Swift and singing along - made me chuckle how at home they felt too. I almost forgot about this gem until I was in IGH for a baseball tournament. Service was surprisingly fast and the portions were huge for the price I paid. I was able to get an XL pho and split that between my 2 girls for just $12! I got the vermicelli salad with grill pork and egg roll, but the grilled pork is not what I'm used to and it's more in the oily side. Vietnamese coffee was nice and strong and was super cheap ($3.95). I like how they told me when I was paying that gratuity was automatically included since I had 4+ people of 15% (honestly I was surprised to hear it's so low since a lot places will add 18%). Also if you use your credit card they do charge 2.9% vs the 3.9% I've been seeing everywhere. (We've been to the iPho in St. Paul a lot but this location still kind of surprised us.) Second: Tried the takeout because this time we had our dog with us. And now I know--if I want delicious, reasonably priced, and quickly served Vietnamese food, I will go to iPho. We got pho and a bún. When i went to pay at the end, the fella said, "You guys had the soup and salad?" And it struck me how mundane it sounded compared to the festival of flavors I'd just experienced. I don't get pho often, but this one blew me away. Just delicious. We frequently get bún ("noodle salad") from a couple places closer to home, and they are good, but I won't mind driving another 10-15 minutes for the bún at iPho, especially since it comes out so fast. I should have taken some pictures of our food to post, but I was too hungry. Trust me, it was beautiful. I plan to try a banh mi next time and/or the spicy soup the guy at the register described to me. Do not go here looking for a fancy dining atmosphere. For the suburbs, iPho isn't bad and it has a vegetarian section on the menu, most of which is vegan by default. I'd stop by again if I happened to be in the area. I got a tofu banh mi ($4.50) which can be modified to be vegan if you omit the mayo. The menu doesn't state mayo is used, so make sure to ask questions whenever you order banh mi (in general). I thought the bread was mealy and the tofu bland and flavorless. Compared to the banh mi you can get at Lu's Sandwiches (Minneapolis) or even Mi Sant Banh Mi (in Roseville and Brooklyn Park), iPho falls short. I wonder if their St. Paul location is any better. Come to iPho for a stir-fry or quick meal but don't have high expectations. This place is fine (hence the 3 stars), but not amazing. read more

Would give this place 4.5 stars if I could. We happened to be staying in a nearby hotel, and we were really craving some Vietnamese food. We ultimately decided to order takeout from here and bring the food back to our hotel to eat. I called in my order and they were very friendly. Even though it was in the middle of peak dinner times, they said our food would be ready in about 20 minutes (not bad at all). When we arrived at the restaurant, our food was already packed and ready to go for us. The restaurant was very clean and inviting, parking was also pretty convenient. When we got to our hotel, we couldn't wait to tuck into our food. Everything was very good and hit the spot. We ordered a beef ball pho (tasty but a little bit on the salty side for me), shrimp & pork spring rolls (made fresh and delightful), bahn mi sandwiches (flavors were very balanced and made to order) and lastly a bun bo hue (could be spicier but still very flavorful and the beef was tender). My wife and I had dinner at IPH2 last night and very much enjoyed it. I had the seafood fried rice (F4 on the menu) and she had the pork pad thai (H5). Both were quite delicious with copious amounts of the chosen meat and perfectly seasoned (there was a varied assortment of condiments - soy, sriracha, fish sauce, etc.) on the table for those who want to modify the flavors). The portions were quite large with plenty of leftovers which we happily took home. I thought the prices were very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of ingredients. The service was quick and extremely friendly with what seemed like the entire family pitching in to help out. I have only two complaints - I wish they used something other than non-recyclable styrofoam for the takeout containers...and I wish they had a branch in Boston so we could visit regularly! read more

My adult children turned me on to this place since it's super close to our office in SSP. I wanted something different and a Banh mi sounded perfect. This has got to be the best value in a sandwich/lunch anywhere. Five bucks, give or take for a loaded to the top sandwich with fresh veggies, plenty of meat and a fresh, soft baguette. DEAL. I had my son pick up eight of them and distributed them to some fellas that were hanging around at the office. When I offered, most of the guys were confused because they'd never heard of a banh mi. The surprise and delight on their face was totally worth it when they took their first bite of the pork and beef sandwiches.
