Got the recommendation that this place has good cream cheese wontons. I LOVE cream cheese wontons and I'm really picky about them. The ones here didn't disappoint. Glad the wonton recommendation was a good one. Also got the chicken curry and egg roll salad. The curry had good flavor, even if I wouldn't really call it traditional curry and a star comes off for not being terribly spicy (and, yes, we requested it). Egg roll salad was HUGE. I would have liked a little bit more lettuce and vegetables, but still had good flavor. Will come back to try some other options on the menu. read more

Met a friend here for lunch, we walked in and asked for a table for two and were told they did not have dine-in service. She said they only had take-out service. We looked around at all the tables and chairs neatly set up with questioning looks, she then explained that they do let people sit in and eat, which we were fine with. We placed our order at the counter and she gave us plates and plastic ware. I ordered the Shrimp Crispy Noodles and my friend ordered the Egg Drop Soup and Chicken Fingers. We went to Thanh Truc with 2 other couples today for dinner. Service was okay. The place was empty and stayed that way even as we left. Each of us were presented with a menu. We ordered. Food came in a timely fashion. We did ask for separate checks thinking this would not be a problem. Well it turned out the be a major problem. When we went to pay our respective bills the charges were all over the place, especially for us who had the same exact meals. We all were being over charged according to the menu we were given. We were told the menu did not reflect the current pricing. Why in any world would you give a customer an outdated menu and not even tell them before they ordered? I would not be making such a big deal about this but this except this happened to us the time before when we were there. Then we thought it was just a one time occurrence and they were having problems with their internet. We all left extremely frustrated. We all agreed that we will never return. Good amount of filling Pad Thai - on point with what is expected of pad Thai Not good Lo mein- had almost no flavor and chicken and pork was very dry Cream cheese wontons - there was no cream cheese inside. Just fried wonton shell Sesame chicken - received fried chicken and 2 boxes of red sauce. I'm not sure if they gave us the wrong sauce, but it was very different from any other sesame sauce I've ever had for sesame chicken Chicken tenders - seemed to be the same small fried chicken pieces provided for the sesame chicken. The egg rolls were decent but the sauce lacked any flavor. My husband got the special fried rice which is his regular and it tastes burnt. The king pao chicken literally had no flavor at all beside a little spice. I went into my kitchen to try to find something to make it better.... He looked at us like we were from another planet. I asked if they were open or not and he seemed unsure. I asked if we should pick a table and he was unsure. I asked him what the confusion was and he was unsure. Then he said to go ahead and pick a table. He comes back and asks for our drink order. Coffee is on the beverage menu. One of us in our group orders it. The guy looks at him like an alien again. At this point, I said, "You know what? This is too weird. Everyone get up and let's go to the other Vietnamese place we considered", which we did. Absolutely do not go to this restaurant. It practically has nothing that as actually Vietnamese to serve you anyway, as seen on the menu and in other posts. Run the place out of business by not going and let a real restaurant take over the space. Or if you are an owner and reading this, please close your place and go do something else. Full Disclosure: I have never ordered from nor eaten anything from the restaurant. That's the problem. I was looking for a local Asian restaurant with a large menu so that my wife and I could each have something we really wanted. I checked this restaurant's Yelp entry and their Web page. It all looked pretty good. This evening, we pulled up to the restaurant and walked in to the large, empty dining room. Takeout only. Nothing to indicate that here. Nothing to indicate that on the Web page. Nothing in the vast glass storefront to indicate that. I understand you might be short-staffed. I understand that you may have adopted a business model during the pandemic that is now comfortable for you. I get it. I do. But, if you're not going to tell potential customers that you don't offer a basic service of the restaurant industry, don't expect them to take the news with exceeding good humor. By the way, one of the other customers who was there to pick up a to-go order was unaware that you have no dining room service. She's a regular who told us the food is really good. It isn't going to stand up to many of the places I used to frequent on University Ave. when living in St Paul, but it will not the spot if you are staying in Woodbury. We found this little place while visiting the Salt Room. The place is really clean and we were greeted warmly and quickly seated. The owner cares about making sure he food is crab and healthy. We ordered pho and she said that they remove as much fat as possible. The broth was really clear and light. Not much of an anise flavor like I prefer but otherwise it was great. To start with the positive - their egg rolls are delicious! And that's the only reason why Thanh Truc got two stars. We ate at Thanh Truc today for the first time and left very disappointed. We were seated and our orders were taken right away, so it started great. I ordered pho, iced Vietnamese coffee, and egg rolls to share with my husband and son. As I said before the egg rolls were delicious. But the Vietnamese coffee and the pho broth were oddly sweet. So sweet that I couldn't even finish either one. And if you know me, I'm that weird one that drinks all the pho broth but then has a lot of noodles and meat left, lol. But I figured.. we are in the suburbs, so I expected I was going to pay more and not enjoy my food as much. Not only is most of the food subpar but the customer service was horrible. ALL of our food was on the table before we got our water. We were so thirsty from eating with no water that I asked for a refill about 30 seconds after she gave us the water and she came back as if I was an absolute nuisance. Not once did they come and check on us throughout the meal. Then my husband went to pay - she told him the total she ran his card then left it on the counter and then left to take a tables order!! No type of acknowledgement after that. I've never seen that done before and I was completely blown away by how rude she was. I try not to write too many negative posts unless it really upsets me, but this experience at Thanh Truc had horrible customer service. Came in with the family for dinner. It looked like there was a line when we first entered. It was awkward since we thought we had to wait at the front by the counter to get seated. Regular customers would side step us and get seated before us. The counter person was nice and helped us after she finished helping the customers before us. This is my third or fourth time here over the past 12 years. If you are in the suburb and craving pho, this is one of the places you can go. If you can make it to the twin cities, I would recommend going there instead for pho. I love my spicy food. Unfortunately, there was no chili oil. Overall, pho was decent to eat. I ordered the Special Pho with extra beef yesterday. It was delicious again. They went thru 8 months period where they used too large of noodles, and put less meat and too much onions flavor in the soup. Now the Pho is good like how it was during Covid. I have a feeling the son is in charge summers and maybe was also during covid. And he is the reason why the pho is absolutely delicious. The beef is tender and the broth tasty and balanced. Pho is still lacking basil and jalapeños condiments, so if they add these it would be perfect. Im so happy I can order Pho weekly from them like how I used to for my whole family. I recently ordered food from this place. They close their lunch service at 1:45. My online order was confirmed and my credit card was charged. I arrived at the restaurant at 1:30. The doors were locked and no one was inside to assist. I will never recommend this business nor will I be ordering from this establishment again. Look elsewhere for food. read more
