Food: we had the lunch special with the eggroll, fried rice, and general tso's chicken along with springrolls and strawberry bubble tea The eggroll was decent and the fried rice was great but the chicken had an aweful texture and the sauce was overpowering. The spring rolls are meh with the bubble tea being this weird frozen smoothy thing with frozen boba that tastes like pure bubble gum. And last of all the water tastes like chlorine. Service: ok, nothing out of the ordinary Ambiance: a bit run down looking with grime and stains on the walls and ceiling.

This place was super clean and the service was friendly, so I thought there was no way the food was gonna be great. That trifecta is just too hard to find. But hells bells, here we are! Their broth was very good! It was fatty enough without being greazy. I don't go to Stillwater, like ever, but I may reconsider my frequency for this place. Their pho is exactly what you need on a cold day, or a hot day.

We came in before the dinner rush and we're seated and served right away which is always amazing when you're hungry. Our waitress was super nice. We ordered the two different egg rolls the house version and the 'regular' I prefer the regular but my kids enjoyed the house version which is fried in rice paper. We also enjoyed the dumplings - kids voted for fried after trying fried I definitely prefer steamed dumplings. My chicken pho was delicious, very good broth. Hubs ordered a curry dish and it was so bland he passed up on eating his meal and shared with me.

We just had our second experience at Pho Mai, both times our food was great! Fresh, hot and great portion sizes. My family had pho and I had the mock duck with mixed vegetables. Things didn't come out at the same time, but the server made it right, and was very friendly. My kids highly recommend the jasmine milk tea as well. I have to mention, the first time we came here, the woman in the booth behind us (dining alone, been there so I get it's boring) was legit watching a tv show on her phone, NO HEADPHONES, OUT LOUD!?! What kind of person does that?

We were super excited to come try out the Pho. Being that the closest 'good' pho spot for us was St. Paul, we were excited by the fact we no longer needed to drive into the cities to get a tasty bowl of Pho. The Pho was decent/good overall, my wife and I both got the special. The quantity was small for the price. There were no alternate sizes to choose from, which is a big con for me. The broth was tasty and flavorful. The meat was great and good in quality, but there wasn't much of it. We'll most likely be coming back to try the other dishes Mai's offers. The service was good, we experienced friendly staff and had a friendly waitress. As for the Pho, it isn't anything to write home about. If they modify their menu to include more sizes and more meat, we'll reconsider trying it out again in the future.

Updated Review: After new ownership back in the winter it has not been the same. Service is not as friendly as it was, prices went up for same amount of food if not less food, and quality is nowhere near we're it was, and the fried rice is so much more heavy and gross. Sad how it went from 5 star to 1 star.

I ordered the egg rolls, wontons, and the sesame chicken lunch combo. When we arrived, we noticed they had a lunch special available until 3 p.m. We asked if we could still order from that menu, and the woman taking our order pointed to her clock and said no. I glanced at my phone--it was 2:55 p.m. I asked her when the cut off time was and mentioned that their clock seemed a bit fast. She eventually let us order the lunch combo, but it was clear she wasn't thrilled about it. The interaction left us feeling a little awkward. As for the food--it was just okay. The wontons were bland and lacked any real flavor. The sesame chicken was underwhelming, missing that punch of sweetness and crunch I was hoping for. The side of rice tasted old and dry, like it had been sitting out for a while. The one highlight was the egg roll. It came out hot and fresh, crispy on the outside and filled with a good amount of veggies. It's definitely up there with my favorites. If I'm in the area again and my bestie is craving this spot, I'd be open to giving it another shot. Next time, I'd skip the combo and stick with the egg rolls, and maybe try her favorite dish--the lo mein. Hopefully, it'll be a better experience.

My only gripe as a vegetarian that there were limited options. But I asked them to take out fish sauce from my mock duck salad and they quickly understood and asked if I wanted a soy sauce instead. The salad was fresh, and mock duck sautéed well. We also had the Bun Bo Hue, which was told to me as better than the places on Eat Street such as Quang. So good was very good and service was fast. I recently visited Duc's Vietnamese Restaurant, and while some people may focus on the obvious…read morereasons it's popular, I'd like to highlight the truly important details. First, the location is outstanding. It's close to my house, which significantly reduces my daily mileage and increases my overall happiness. Even better, it's conveniently close to my favorite gas station, creating a perfect ecosystem where I can refuel both my vehicle and my sense of purpose in a single trip. The parking lot deserves special recognition. It was astonishingly clean. Not "pretty clean for a parking lot" clean. More like "someone is clearly taking personal pride in every square foot of asphalt" clean. There wasn't a single abandoned shopping cart, mystery stain, or windblown fast-food wrapper in sight. The building itself was easy to find, the entrance was clearly marked, and the doors performed flawlessly. That's the kind of reliability that builds trust. Inside, everything was spotless. The tables were level. The chairs appeared structurally committed to their jobs. The lighting was bright enough to see what I was doing but not so bright that I felt like I was being interrogated. Even the napkins seemed unusually motivated. Now we come to what may be the most underrated feature of Duc's: the restrooms. I make a "pit stop" every time I pick up my order, and I can confidently say these are among the finest restaurant restrooms I have encountered. They're always clean, well-maintained, and somehow manage to create a sense of calm and confidence. Many establishments view restrooms as an afterthought. Duc's treats them like a flagship product. At this point, I'm not entirely sure whether I'm picking up an order and using the restroom, or using the restroom and conveniently picking up an order while I'm there. The owner and his family are always friendly and professional. They don't chime my name upon entrance, but maybe in another 18 years. I was also impressed by several important but frequently overlooked details: the parking spaces were easy to navigate, the sidewalks were in excellent condition, and the overall atmosphere suggested that someone actually cares about the place. When it was time to leave, I exited the parking lot without a single awkward standoff with another driver. Traffic flowed smoothly, the weather cooperated, and my favorite gas station was still exactly where I left it. In summary, Duc's Vietnamese Restaurant excels at all the things only the best do: location, cleanliness, parking-lot excellence, dependable doors, quality sidewalks, and proximity to gasoline. I can confidently say that every aspect of the experience was absolutely fantastic. Oh, and the garlic chicken will blow your hair back.

Get the sauce on the side so it doesn't get soggy travelling. I do this everywhere. Note that expression. We shared vegetarian egg rolls, again loaded especially fine carrots. Very attentive to your order and HE actually checks through the bag so you don't have to. Customer service plus.

Well thinking I would go to Pho Hua instead, I pulled intonthe Shuang Hur Grocer's parking lot thinking I'd grab a few things before heading north on Eat Street. Then I saw signs on the Shuang Hur building for a (new to me) Vietnamese joint in the same building. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! My Huong is an 8-top hole in the wall across the parking lot from the rear of El Nuevo Mariachi Restaurant. The place is homely, small, but brightly lit and plenty of day light through the picture windows overlooking Eat Street. It's a big contrast to Pho 79 type places that are dim and short on ambience. The clientele shows. Instead of just a bunch of Asians throwing down Pho, it's a mix like you'd see at Quang or Eat Street Crossing. I was seated right away, was greeted by a cheery Vietnamese lady, and ordered Hu Tieu Bo Khu (Beef Stew Noodle Soup.) It was a dish I haven't seen before even though I have been to so many Vietnamese places (see my other reviews and lists.) The dish came very quickly, and I was shocked that they didn't bring it with a veggie plate. Oh well. Well the best way I could describe Hu Tieu Bo Khu, its basically a pot roast over noodles. So the beefy broth like a less spicey version of Bun Bo Hue, with flavors of lemongrass and star anise, nicely garnished already with what would have been on a veggie plate. The broth was delicious, slightly sweet with the carrots, and the beef was fall apart amazingly stewed with deep flavor. There were other menu items like Curry Chicken pho and a Stewed chicken rice dish I'd have to return and try!
