I first used this place because they had a good reputation and were cheaper for the repair I wanted done than about 10 other mechanics I called asking for a quote. They did the work relatively quickly while I waited. When I wanted the repair adjusted a week later they were happy to do so. I also had my wife go there to get some work done on her car. I didn't get a quote ahead of time, but I checked the cost afterward and it was below the average for what the same work would have cost somewhere else around San Jose. read more

Very helpful staff. Jeff, the owner, met me at my car and helped me fix my issue. Turns out that he just had to jiggle it a little bit to get it to work properly again. He sent me on my way without charging me at all! I needed to get my car's 60K inspection done anyway so I asked him to match the price I got somewhere else and he agreed to do it. I was looking for someone to work on my BMW and found Jeff through a Google ad on my cell phone as I was driving around. We chatted and I explained that I knew what the error code was and wanted to know his price to do the job. He told me to bring the car in and he'd put it up on a lift and walk me through everything in detail. We ended up finding about $2000 more work than I expected or wanted to fix but it was overdue maintenance like brakes, rotors, valve cover gaskets, valley pan gaskets, VANOS solenoids, power steering hose, etc......I felt he was honest and did the work for a fair price. The first time I came here was after I'd scraped the underside of my new car and it was making a pretty horrible noise. I first called a different shop and described my problem. The mechanic said that it was probably serious and that I should come in the next week. Then I called fleettech, and they told me I could bring it by that day so they could at least diagnose it. Turns out I'd just ripped off my splash guard. Not only did they fix it for free, they didn't even make fun of me! Since I'd had a good experience I decided to come back for an oil change, and once again they were really friendly, well priced, clean and competent. I stumbled upon IQ Auto when I got an outrageous quote for fixing my Range Rover from the dealership, I took it to IQ and got a substantially cheaper quote and decided to give it a try. I have been a loyal customer ever since and send my family and friends there as well. The staff feels like trusted family to me and I would never take my cars anywhere else. They have worked on my Range Rover, Dodge Charger and Chevrolet Truck. They have done everything from suspension, brakes, thermostat replacement, axel repair, leaks and maintenance over the past almost 10 years. They are extremely busy working hard but always give me a fast turnaround with quality work at the most affordable prices. IQ Autoworks is great! I highly recommend...they are quick and do the job right. The first time I went to the shop, the owner Jeff was very helpful and explained everything that was going on with my car in a way that I could understand it. He also explained all the pricing which I appreciated. They seem to be on a bit higher end for price but they are worth every penny and let me explain why. I needed my A/C fixed and thought to go back to IQ Autoworks but I found a deal online for a different repair shop and went there first trying to save $$. WRONG DECISION! I went to two different auto shops to trying to get their mechanics to fix my A/C but neither shop was able to fix it. After dropping off my car at one shop at 8 am, that mechanic told me that 12 noon that he looked at my A/C and could not fix it. After that, I called Jeff in desperate that afternoon and he told me I can bring in my car that day and he fixed it by the next morning. They really know what they're doing. And again are worth every penny to have your car fixed right! I have even heard that other mechanics take their vehicles to IQ Autoworks when they don't know how to fix something. I was searching Yelp for credible places to get my exhaust leak fixed and these guys had an average 5 star rating and I immediately called them right up for a couple of questions. Fast forward throughout the day, I brought my car in and in the same day they were able to fix my exhaust leaks at a very fair price. Jeff was a really cool dude and he definitely knows his stuff. They kept my visit short and simple telling me what needed repairs and what they could do. I had multiple exhaust leaks and they were all able to get it fixed. I will definitely return back here if i need anything automotive related fixed or added. I had broken brakelights, and I replaced the burnt out bulbs, but that did not fix the problem. I show up at IQ Autoworks on Saturday at 4:30pm. I walked in on a bunch of employees sitting around, drinking beer, and one of them was in the middle of a fervid rant. They politely informed me that the shop is closed and to return on Monday. They did not offer me a beer. I came back on Monday morning, and one of the mechanics took a look at the bulbs and electrical plugs. He fixed the problem in ten minutes. They didn't charge me anything. Nice! read more

What caught my eye for IQ? 90 - 5 STAR ratings! WOW! I bought a pre-owned Range Rover from a BMW dealer with a 60 day warranty. I heard a "clunk" sound when I slowed down. BMW said "it's normal". Intuition said how can it be? I called Jeff at IQ and he said bring it in. We test drove it. He put it on the rack and showed me the loose front differential. He sent BMW his findings. BMW will do the repair but Jeff now has me as a "lifer" customer. Why? He took the time and explained and showed everything to me. His diagnostic charge was also 40% cheaper than Land Rover. I recently took it in because of a noise that turned out to be something rolling around in the trunk (duh!). My clutch was making an odd noise, so I called around to see how much it would cost to get it replaced. Jeff at IQ autoworks was within a few bucks of the cheapest price. But what really impressed me was how quickly he diagnosed not only the problem (busted clutch), but the root cause, a leaky fuel valve that dripped into the clutch. Jeff took photos of the repair and walked me through them along with the actual busted parts to show me exactly what was wrong with the car. My old man told me once, "son, make sure you know a good mechanic before you know your wife." Who would have thought, the man was right. Jon at IQ Autoworks would be that mechanic. I've brought two separate vehicles to IQ and have had exceptional service both times. The first car I brought in was my 1999 Ford Explorer to have the brakes replaced along with my check engine light diagnosed. When I arrived for my appointment Jon was right there ready to help, and I wasn't the only one he was tending to, he was helping 4 other people as well without skipping a beat. He told me what needed to be done within minutes of arriving and I picked my car up later that same day. The price was very reasonable and I really wouldn't have minded paying more since the service was so good. I later brought in my 2003 BMW for brakes again. I took VTA to get back home in downtown SJ and before I had even finished the bus ride home, Jon called me to say the work was complete. Maybe it wasn't a busy day, but dang that was fast!! After having bad auto work experiences elsewhere, I can easily say that IQ is the place I'm taking any of my car issues to. Fast, dependable, knowledgable, friendly service.
