I have been coming to IQ Autoworks for several years now. I don't trust any other shop with my car. I used to go to the dealer for my repairs and service but I always struggled because they could never figure out what the issues were and then they charged crazy amounts of money to not even fix anything. Jeff and Mark have kept me coming back due to their outstanding customer service and their quality of work. There has never been a problem that IQ Autoworks can't fix, they always figure it out. I have a Chrysler 200 and they have fixed everything from my alternator to brakes and rotors. They even fixed the body damage on my car due to a deer running into it. So I have been to multiple places in regards to an issue with my car. I was completely disheartened with The fact that I have been to three different shops and nobody was able to assist me in fixing my car. Completely frustrated I decided to look for a shop that was close by my house and this was literally walking distance from my place. I called and I believe I spoke with the manager or owner and he heard what my issue was and told me to bring in the car even though it was on such late notice he said if I brought it in around three he would be able to assist me. I had a family emergency and ended up bringing the car around 4 PM and despite me being late he still went forward to try and fix my car he even stayed later than closing time to finish it completely and when I got there my car was completely fixed and he even went above and beyond to show me what was wrong with my car and instruct me on what to do so that I wouldn't have these problems again. The Price was way better than any other shops prices that I was given and he did it in less than two hours. I would definitely recommend him to anybody that's in the Campbell area San Jose area or anyone just looking to get great service from somebody that is truly passionate about what they do. I feel that Jeff is mechanical sound and the price is fair. My 92 Corolla has a bad history with its right front hub and bearing. Failed/replace 4 times in 3 different shops. Issues come back every several months. I almost gave up, but decide to give it a final chance. This time I brought my car to Jeff and explained to him how may times this has failed, and then asked him if he can fix it with warranty. Luckily he saw this issue before, re-occuring hub/bearing failures on Corolla, so he is willing to do it and suggest me that also replacing the spindle. After this major repair, my car is good now. I am still waiting to see if I will ever running into the same failure again. Regardless, I am willing to recommend Jeff at this early moment because he gave me an impression to of sincere and honest. Some qualities I hope he can keep lifelong. read more

I chose to get a clutch and flywheel replacement done by IQ Autoworks. I got quotes from dozens of mechanics in the Bay area and they had good reviews, the quote was comparably low (around USD 2300), the shop was not too far away, and I could get a loaner. I brought in the car on a Wednesday. Jeff told me that it is about an 11 hour job, and that it is likely I can pick it up in the evening. I wasn't sure how the two fit together but perhaps multiple mechanics can speed up the process. I wasn't in a hurry. The day passed and no response. It was afternoon the next day, still no response. I tried calling but the mailbox was full. After mentioning that via Yelp (the only way to reach them!) that got resolved at some point (silently that is; no response). Hours later there was still a message telling me that "due to high call volume the call cannot be directed" and that I should call later. So I did, several times. Always the same message. That is the worst impression I had ever with a repair shop. I expected at least a text if something is going on. And something *is* going on if I was first told the car is ready the same day but then it was not even done the next day. Not being reachable at all is a no go. I finally got through with a call. I simply did not hang up when asked for and as it turned out the message can simply be ignored. You *will* get redirect after that. Phew, seriously? So I reached Jeff and he told me that the flywheel needed to be exchanged. That did not come as much of a surprise. What did come as a surprise was the USD 900 increase in estimate. Especially given that I *did* ask for a quote including the flywheel replacement -- it was totally unambiguous. I asked for the new quote in writing. I also asked for the replacement of a seal that I knew needed to be replaced and that was easily reachable once the car was disassembled to the point that the clutch could be removed. Jeff told me that he knew I would ask for that (I did so initially and just reiterated now) and that the cost of this seal was already included. Skipping a bit here, it was Saturday (!), so after four days the car was finally ready and I got a call that I could pick it up. Everything had gone seemingly smooth. Jeff mentioned that he heard a lightly vibrating sound when test driving, suspecting something with the exhaust. It would be another job if it got worse. Should not be a big deal. Okay. Seeing the final price I noticed another increase over the latest quote I had been given. When asked, Jeff explained that the aforementioned seal (yep, the one already included!) had been forgotten on the estimate. That was a small amount compared to the overall job but it does not make a good impression. So I took my car and went for a test drive. I noticed the briefly mentioned vibration sounds and after a few bumps they were pretty intense. Now, I know my car and the sound it produces better than any mechanic but that sound was one of concern. It simply was not normal, in any car. Not looking into that is plainly ignorant, especially given that because of the invasiveness of the job the exhaust was moved so chances are that it was caused by the repair (I also did not complain about such noise when I dropped of the car -- an indication that there was none). I drove back, and the mechanic and Jeff had a look. It was the exhaust. It was moved a bit out of place causing it to hit the bottom of the car when going over bumps. It was not a big deal work-wise, but it is a big deal considering that not everybody has car lifting capabilities and the respective tools at home. Plus, attempting to make another job (along with the commute and all the overhead) out of it is cheeky, in my opinion. ----------------- In summary: - imprecise quote (close to 50% increase over initial estimate which was in response to exactly the work that was being done in the end) - inaccurate time estimates (we went from: ready the same day, to a four day job; I have to say though that time was explicitly not a concern as Jeff had thankfully provided me with a loaner, and I communicated that as such) - no status updates without inquiry, even if way past initial time estimate - communication happening over Yelp (meaning a random 3rd party service with no involvement whatsoever in the work can read the messages), albeit I was explicitly asked for my private e-mail address. It got moved to said private e-mail only after asking two times. On the bright side: - I have not had any problems since taking the car back home - Jeff provided good explanations of what is being done and even showed the parts being swapped - pictures of the removed broken parts sent via e-mail were helpful in assessing the need for replacement - the overall cost was probably still at the lower end of what others charge. It certainly was half of the quote I got from the actual dealership. Nevertheless, overall I would not recommend the shop. read more

Wow! Did the job, and the cost was just what he said it would be! I had about given up on my Bimmer convertible. Bought it at auction. Turned out, it had been towed by SFPD, because the previous owner couldn't get it registered, as it wouldn't pass smog. Smog test described it as "Gross Polluter" Couldn't even sell it, without a smog certificate. Called a couple of places for estimates. One guy laughed, and even accused me of being one of his competitors, trying to "punk" him! I was even considering just "donating" it to charity. Finally, with the help of Yelp, I found Jeff's number. Jeff seemed to think he would have no problem getting my poor Bimmer to pass smog. We chatted for a while. He impressed me as somebody who actually knows how to diagnose issues, vs. mechanics who just keep installing parts until the problem or the customer, goes away. My Bimmer is running great! WOW!! These guys are nothing short of Awesome. I have been having problems getting my car smogged for MONTHS. Every place I took it to they wanted to charge me an arm and a leg. I went to many places and they gave me the run around. I found Jeff and he was very honest and very helpful. They found the problem right away and were able to fix it without charging me an arm and a leg and had it fixed faster than anyone else said they could. First off, the guys (Jeff & John) are amazing!! They will do whatever it takes to find the actual issue, not just throw in a part and hope for the best... So, my car wouldn't shift into 1st, 3rd or 5th without grinding out. By the time I took her in, she wouldn't even engage 3rd at all. I just knew it was going to be a transmission issue, but after 2 days of checking, turns out it was a small pin associated with my clutch or slave thingy (not an engine girl). What I thought was going to be a HUGE repair job, ended up costing less than a night out with the girls!! Woot!! It is a thing of beauty to watch Jeff chase down a complex problem in a complex car! He knows how to isolate problems and how to fix them - and, like Winston Churchill advised, never, never, never gives up! He traced an intermittent electrical failure on our 1999 Ford to a corroded connector in the engine wiring harness and, rather than replace the very expensive wiring assembly - created a solid work-around thus fixing the problem and saving us a lot of money. Today he traced a fuel problem to an electrical connector on the fuel pump. We had the fuel pump replaced last year at a dealer (Frontier Ford) and their mechanic had clearly bent the fitting during testing so that, with the passage of time, the connection to the fuel pump was broken and the car would not run! Jeff straightened the connector and - like magic - the old Ford started immediately and runs better than before. A better name for his firm is High IQ Autoworks! Try it! Finally, an honest auto repair shop. I breathed a sigh of relief when I came to IQ Autoworks. First of all, Jeff speaks English. It was very easy to understand him, especially since I know nothing about cars and auto repair work. I usually take my brother with me to talk with mechanics so I don't get ripped-off. I have a 1999 Lexus ES 300. I originally took my car to Tan Auto Repair (stay away from this guy), because I had a check engine light on in my car that would not go away. It would not pass a smog test, and I needed get my DMV registration renewal, so I was forced to get my car fixed. My brother recommended Tan, and took my car in for me. Tan claimed he could replace the my old carbon canister with a used one for $350 dollars. BUT, the check engine light came back on again. My brother took it back to Tan for second time. Tan claimed the problem was now fixed, but the check engine came back on again.....sighhhhhh. One day later, the check engine light came back on AGAIN, but I refused to take my car back to Tan a third time. I decided to live with the check engine light problem. But now I have another problem. Immediately after taking car to Tan. I cant pump gas into the gas tank. Gas is spilling out unto the ground, eventhough my car is on empty. So I decided to take a chance and prayed I would get my car fixed. I called IQ Autoworks, based on the positive reviews on the IQ Autoworks website and the Yelp reviews. I was really, really skeptical at first, after dealing with Tan Auto Repair. Jeff put me at ease. IQ Autoworks quoted me a price over the phone to fix the fuel spilling out of the filter neck problem, which I thought was my only problem with my car. Jeff later said they found a pair of metal vice grip pliers blocking off the vent tube on the carbon canister. What the hell! These metal grip pliers were intentionally left in there by Tan Auto Repair shop as a quick fix to make the check engine light go away, which obviously did not work. Jeff showed me the actual picture of the vice grip pliers blocking the vent tube to the carbon canister. Jeff explained you have to replace the carbon canister with a new one, and not a used one. I doubt if Tan ever replaced it in the first place. Jeff sympathized with me and gave me a discount which I was very grateful for, since I was already out of money from dealing with that crook Tan. Jeff was very nice and professional to deal with. I didn't feel like he was trying to scam me out of more money or take advantage of me because I was a woman who knows nothing about cars and auto repair work. Now the check engine light is gone and I can pump gas into my car like normal. I highly recommend IQ Autoworks. One of the best auto repair shops in the South Bay or maybe in the Bay Area. read more

So, I have spent the past week repairing the car after an accident, then the ac decided it did not want to work...great!!! Mark from White Oaks Auto Body recommended IQ, so I figured I would give them a call. Jeff was great, not only did he quote me more than 60% less than the leading competitor, but he was able to service my girlfriends car and mine in the same day. 2 AC's repaired in less than half a day, less than any other auto shop I called. Jeff also noted that I have an oil leak and gave me a verbal quote on the repair for that. This company will now have my business for all my auto repairs. After a week long series of unfortunate events, 2 native Oregonians and one King dog found that our new to us, big RV, Bertha, had decided to strand us at Saratoga Quarry park. After the other half attempted his fix (this took 4-5 hours ), he finally took my suggestion and called Dick's Automotive to come and fetch big Bertha. The awesome tow truck driver took Bertha into Campbell, California and talked up this place called IQ Autoworks. We slept there overnight and waited to speak with someone in the morning. Bright and early, Jeff was there and eager to assist us. He got Bertha up and running enough to at least get us somewhere where we could park her. He hopped in his car and showed us a safe place (and by safe I mean a place where she wouldn't be towed, because honestly, after our luck....well, yah. You feel me.) until he had some more time to assist us further. A few days passed and he was right back to help us again, in the same spot where he had directed us to. Bertha didn't get towed but we sure had some nasty notes from the 'locals' on our windshield! At any rate, here comes Jeff, tools in hand, super thrilled to see 'ol Bertha again! A smile and a few cuss words later and Bertha was back amongst the living!!! Thank you, Jeff! Your service, kindness and being true to your word gave us hope again where we had very little! At the recommendation of a friend, I took my car to Jeff after a Nissan dealership told me my 2010 Maxima had a leak in the head gasket. In their words, "Coolant is everywhere" and I needed to replace the head gasket as soon as possible. Considering the expense of replacing a head gasket, and the fact my car is only 5 years old, I took it to Jeff for a second opinion. Jeff took my car into the shop and inspected all sides and underneath my engine for any signs of a coolant leak from the head gasket. After his evaluation he told me that I didn't have any indication of a leak, i.e. not a SINGLE drip of coolant. Then, he proceeded to spend 15 minutes patiently explaining to me, a girl with very little knowledge of cars, how the head gasket worked, how the coolant flowed in/out, and where we would see signs of a leak if in fact there had been one. Jeff was incredibly honest, especially given he had the opportunity to take advantage of me the way Nissan thought they could. He saved me $3000, educated me on what to look for in the future, and, on top of everything else, took quick notice to a strut issue I previously brought up to Nissan (and was quickly dismissed by them). Regarding Nissan, I took my car back the next morning and had them put it on the lift to show me exactly where they saw a leak that warranted such a significant diagnosis. I was told by the Master Technician and Service Advisor that there was, in fact, no active leak. Nothing. Nada. I was simply going to get screwed by sketchy business tactics. As someone who expects to drive her car for the next 2-3 years or more, I take especially good care of my car to ensure longevity. So i drive a not-so-new 2002 Saturn Vue and I've brought it in for repairs a few times now. The team is always great at communicating with me, super fast with diagnosing the issue (a misfiring cylinder, and shot alternator and a busted starter have all been things they've taken care of for me), and repairing with affordable replacement parts. They make it easy to drop off your vehicle if it breaks down at an inconvenient time (when would be convenient, really?), and are happy to explain the issues to you so that you understand your vehicle even better than you did when you brought it in. The guys do decent work at a fair price and they helped explain solutions and options to problems I had on my truck, but my last experience at this place kind of left a bad impression for me. I had dropped off my truck here to get some minor work done. The guy who works the desk called me the next day at about 10:30am to make sure I was going to pick up my truck that day, and I told him that yes I would be by later to pick it up. I swing by around 3pm to pick up my truck and spotted it on the street on the way in. I walked by my truck on my way towards the shop and noticed the passenger side window was rolled down... On the sidewalk, out of view of the shop in downtown Campbell... I could have literally opened the door, stolen the stereo, searched the glove compartments and center console and walked away like nothing happened. Or worse, hot-wired the car in a matter of minutes and It would have been gone. LUCKILY my stereo is garbage and I made sure there were no items of value in the car when I dropped it off so nothing was gone when I inspected it. I confronted Jeff and his staff and asked why my window was left rolled down on the street. He said that this was standard procedure and the desk associate had just parked it because they knew I was coming. How could they have known I was coming right at that moment? Even leaving a window rolled down for five minutes could result in vandalism or theft. I was pretty shocked that he was just playing it off like it was no big deal. Even if the guy did just move it on the street and park it, why would he even leave the window rolled down. It takes literally two seconds to roll it up. I highly doubt he would have left a Mercedes with the window rolled down on the street so it just goes to show that maybe I have an older truck but how did he know I didn't have a $500 sound system installed or valuables in the car. You should treat each persons vehicle with the same courtesy even if its older or not as valuable as your high price brand new cars. For that reason, he lost a customer, if he would have just apologized in the beginning and owned his mistake I would have come back in a heartbeat because I would've known it was just an accident and wouldn't happen again but instead he played it off like it wasn't a big deal and it was normal to do this with the cars read more

What can I say about Jeff and Fleet Tech. My wife's car was leaking gas somewhere, as the odor of gas fumes was overwhelming in the vehicle. I told her to look on Yelp for a good mechanic, and she found Fleet Tech. Jeff did a great job diagnosing the problem, and keeping us updated on all issues he was finding. He even kept all of the old parts, and thoroughly pointed out and explained why he had to replace them. I learned a lot about 02 sensors, and other stuff that I've already forgotten. After having the same great mechanic for 26 years I decided to try something new after a few sub par experiences in the last year. Where my old mechanic was a sanatized and very professional shop, Jeff from IQ Autoworks is a down to earth honest mechanic. He took the time to explain all the problems that he needed to fix and why. After he was done he showed me the old parts and explained each part, showed me the damage to it, and why they needed to be changed. Now this is something my old professional shop hasn't done in many, many years. I am happy with the work that Fleettech has done for my Jetta. My jetta would not start on Monday morning and after diagnosing, Jeff determined that it was the voltage on the battery - the battery itself was fine. There was also nothing wrong with the starter. I had Jeff perform my 100,000 mile check-up and he changed out the timing belt and an air hose along with the front breaks. The jetta will be seeing Jeff in the future. read more

Brought my car in and got the problem diagnosed but then after numerous call backs which they did not return my call, I finally got a guy to tell me that they had no record of my visit. The guy was totally disinterested in trying to keep my business when I told him that I didn't think I could trust my car with their shop and just said, "well, good luck with your car." I would have thought he would try a little harder to keep my business and make it worth my while to coming back in to the shop since he wasted a couple of hours of my time. Update: The owner called me and apologized for his employee he said who had a bad day and that he had found my part which had been ordered. He installed it and only charged me an hour for two hours time to make it right. Very professional resolution. And the sliding door works perfectly now! read more

I'm the owner of a small business. I had smoking brakes first thing in the morning in my work vehicle. I looked around Yelp! And the reviews these guys had were great. So I called them up. When I got there it was obvious they were busy, every bay was loaded with a car. I like to write about attributes and qualities I see in people that deserve attention in order to help others make a decision in choosing a vendor that is right for them. In a recent diagnostic of my failed turn signals, Jeff noticed that some if not most of my fuses had questionable contacts due to the age of my car. My car is currently 30 years old this year. What impressed me was that instead of ignoring the issue, Jeff went the extra mile and took the time to adjust each fuse in the fuse box so I would not experience any strange intermittent problems in the future potentially saving me more $$$ in repairs. This is an action I didn't expect and I didn't want it to go unnoticed as I believe other shops may not have been as attentive to detail. A few months ago my dad burnt my clutch. It was 10pm and the AAA tech recommended IQ Autoworks. It was nice to be able to drop your car off at an autoshop at night. Jeff is a very good mechanic. He explained to me what broke, how the parts function, and how it could have happened. He also replace my pistons promptly after the clutch work. My son had pulled down the fabric off the inside panel of my sunroof, and when it retraced, it got stuck there. I didn't want to touch it in the middle of an El Nino without a service appointment on the books. When I got there, Jeff fiddled with it and fixed it in about 10 minutes (and, psst, they didn't charge me, which I dont know if they want that known). I have been a client of IQ Autoworks for a few years. They have done all the needed service and repairs on my Honda Pilot. Recently, my car was in an accident this shop and its employees took great care of me and my car. They made it easy for me, especially in dealing with the insurance company. They were in contact with me on what was being done, and when the car would be ready. Their customer service is great! My roommate found Jeff I'm guessing on yelp, but I actually don't know how she found him....I'm just glad she did! I dropped my car off with the service engine light on and I thought I was probably going to need some brake work done too. Jeff called me a little while later to let me know the issue was my cam sensor and that I had worn my brakes down to nothing (not good). When I went to pick it up Jeff walked me through the work he did and showed me all the new parts and the old parts. I also talked to him about some issues I had with another mechanic ripping me off and he popped open the hood and assured me I was fine. Overall, the guys are really nice. I loved that Jeff took the time to show me the work he had done. The price was fair and they were pretty quick. Location is great since I live down the street. Oh and it doesn't hurt that Jeff is a hottie! ;) read more
