This review is only for a Mechanical Inspection. I had to have my car fully inspected for any mechanical issues due to "someone" abusing it and grinding up my gears and driving over curbs etc. I appreciated the communication and how this shop did a good job of providing a thorough report. I didn't have any actual work done at this shop, except the inspection cost $390. I will most definitely bring my car back for any repairs, oil changes, tune-ups, new tires, alignments, etc. Will update review when next time I bring my car in. read more

This was my first visit to LG Auto Service. LG Auto provided me a ride home after I dropped off my truck. LG Auto provided pictures from below my truck to illustrate what they identified during their thorough inspection. I was unaware of a few issues that LG Auto pointed out. A full, illustrated report was provided to me via text message. I had my sway bar and control arm bushings replaced, along with an alignment. I'm very pleased with the results. My truck handles much better than before. I will definitely return to LG Auto Service for future work on my truck. My only suggestion: Be better on the communication side from the front desk. You have my email/contact number--text/call or email with a status and where you're at with the vehicle, when it will be ready, how much, etc. But the front desk guys are kind and pleasant. Just honest feedback. I will be back to LG Auto Service. Their front-end work on my truck was better than any Toyota dealership that worked on my truck for the past 23 years. read more

Los Gatos Auto service On white oaks in Campbell, WOW My mom's car was making a loud rumbling sound so someone recommended I take it to Los Gatos auto. Had a great experience with the staff. Owner Dave was very friendly and helpful. His staff is friendly and treated me very respectfully. John who is running things up front for Dave made sure that my mom's car was taken care of in a timely manner. The mechanics were very thorough with the inspection. They found the problem and John took the time to see if the issue was still covered under a manufacturer warranty due to the nature of the repair, he discovered it was and had it taken to the dealer, but not before discussing it with me first. I was told that rarely does it play out this way, but it didn't hurt to check and as it turns out it saved my mom quite a bit of money, Their knowledge in the automotive field was to say the least impressive and comforting and it appears that they're professionals there. With my mom being handicapped it was great to have someone I know we can trust and rely on to take care of her and her car. They addressed a few other issues and made sure the car was safe. When picking up my moms car I spoke with a service advisor there named Lauren who was very helpful with her knowledge of vehicles, I had asked a few questions regarding my own car's performance and she was able to answer without hesitation on possible causes. I came in to get my power steering checked. It turns out there was an issue with the pump. I had gotten my car's PSP done around 2 1/2 years ago. Luckily there was a warranty with the service so I was able to get my PSP fixed. Pablo Reyes & the rest of the gang are absolutely the realest ones. Was in some semi-dire straights, transitioning between greater LA area (San Pedro) and the Los Gatos region, needed some ultra-critical work on my '09 200k manual civic. Bad timing due to the Thanksgiving holiday, called up literally every single auto shop within 20 miles hoping to schedule an appointment at their earliest convenience. Los Gatos Auto Service was the Only One to make every effort to get me into their system and set me up with a date, without making me feel like a begrudging burden. Parked early for my appointment, Pablo himself recognized me and my car, was incredibly communicative, did absolutely zero upselling BS, fully understood my situation (financially & otherwise), used his and his technician's expertise to provide Exactly what I needed, while still providing plenty of information for further servicing necessary when time & money would allow, whether thru them or another shop. Ended up with much better service than could have asked for, at much lower cost than anticipated, hours before I would think it could be done. Subsequent 400 mile drive back to LA was smooth as butter. I have been having my 2006 Corolla serviced here for over 3 years. The level of integrity from all the staff is fantastic. My car is seen by the same mechanic no matter what service is being done. I used to used this shop for my bmw and my Honda. But as I was dropping off my sports car to another shop next door I had to park in a space to leave the car as the shop had not opened yet. Some one from LGAS came out and said I had to move. The space was not marked and as soon as the shop opened the car would be moved. Customer service is a lost art. I just picked up my car from Los Gatos Auto Service and I am more than thrilled with the service & care they provided!!! Last Friday 9/17/2021 I was headed to work early in the morning when my car decided to stop running and I had to get towed. It was an awful start to an otherwise pleasant Friday. While waiting for my tow I was researching nearby shops I could get my car towed to within 5miles with AAA and luckily found LGAS only 3 miles away. From the moment I called them I was greeted pleasantly, both Lauren & John at the front desk were super helpful and approachable on the phone. When my tow arrived to LGAS I was greeted by Dave who after just hearing my description of what had happened diagnosed the car and his confidence and demeanor put me at ease. Lauren was spectacular at the front, warm, knowledgeable and super helpful-- she assisted me in getting situated and kept me in the loop with updates via phone after drop off, then today, Monday she called me with a full diagnostic breakdown and even texted me the report to follow along, really cool! Lauren kept me in the know, and it was appreciated! When I picked up my car today John was especially helpful and had my vehicle ready for me to pick up with 0 issue. Had the pleasure of speaking with Lauren to schedule, Josue to drop off, Dave the manager, who answered my endless questions so patiently, and even Francisco the very experienced tech that aligned my truck. This shop is truely a class act with an owner that treats his employees well and it shows. The fact they have been in business for over 30 years speaks volumes. The dark solid office door with the entrance sign pointing at it had me concerned for a moment, but stepping into the office and waiting area was a relief. It was very clean and smelled fresh even with a clean bathroom immediately accessible. Complementary coffee station was a nice touch as well. As a female, I felt very comfortable in my surroundings, with the people, and the rates were fair. Went in with a truck pulling to the right, pulsing hard on the steering wheel, and a front wheel that clearly seemed out of whack. Left with it driving like a dream. Over two years ago, when one of my cars failed to start at all, Wheel Works referred me to Dave. He diagnosed the problem quickly and replaced the security lockout in the steering column (thanks General Motors - not!). The service was so efficient and prompt that I have taken all of our cars to Dave, John and Hector (sorry - I know I am leaving some of you out) and ALWAYS was a pleasannt experience. There are several reasons why I go there: 1) David and John have NEVER tried to upsell - in fact, they have discouraged me from some work by explaining why it was not yet necessary or useful. 2) Their work has been exemplary -and they provide real warranty service. As an example, they did some major work on my TA 6 months ago - and when the weather turned warm the A/C was not functioning properly. I took it in - and was told that since they had worked on it 6 months ago there would be no charge. 3) Their prices have consistently been extremely reasonable and they are pleasant and easy to deal with - and always explain anything I need explained. What I like best about Los Gatos Auto Service is their integrity. They will not talk you into items that can wait or can be done cheaper elsewhere (in my recent case because it was still covered by the dealer warranty). Their quality is excellent and there seems nothing that they cannot fix. With appointments, we typically drop off the car there after hours with a to-do-list and the keys, and they call me right away in the morning and they get it done the same day for a competitive price. Visited the service store last week for my 2002 Honda Accord that has less than 30k miles on it (the car has rarely been driven). Asked for an oil change and overall check (fluids, tires, etc). They were so honest that they told me the oil could really probably go for a while longer before needing a change, I had it done anyway. They provided a full read out of the assessment on the Honda, including recommendations that we'll probably return pretty soon for. I am a HUGE fan of businesses that reflect integrity and quality, and though I'm not a big online reviewer, felt the service here warranted this super positive Yelp post. Especially foreign cars like BMW and etc. if you need a place to go that is friendly and reasonable value, this should be your main place. I wish I could have taken them with me when I moved out of the Bay Area- I needed a few things worked on my car and a family member referred me to these guys. Very friendly service. Dave and another guy (can't remember his name) were there to help and were super polite. They even gave me a loaner car so I would have one for the day. They realized they accidentally gave me another set of a different car's keys, so the other guy drove to Almaden to come get them from me so I wouldn't be inconvenienced. When I went to pick up my car, they had a lengthy report on everything that was done to the car, why it was done, what they recommended, and why they recommended it. Their receptionist called me a couple weeks back to check on me and my car, sadly I had to tell her I no longer lived in the area but really appreciated their service. Would recommend. read more

My first experience here was pretty positive, Which is why I am so surprised that my second experience was very negative. I brought my car in to get my engine light checked. That's the only thing I asked them to do. After I dropped my car off, no one was calling me to give me updates or telling me about what was going on. I had to consistently call them in order to understand what was going on and when my car would be ready. I could tell the front desk was annoyed by my calls, but no one was communicating with me. I go to pick it up, only to learn that they did not fix the problem. Secondly, they give me a report listing a bunch of different things that came up that need to be fixed. They said my brakes needed to be fixed, my tires needed to be replaced, oil needed to be changed, a bunch of different things. This felt weird to me, as I had only taken my car in for routine maintenance to my original mechanic two months prior. None of these issues came up then. I did not ask them to do a routine check or maintain check. I asked them to check my check engine light. I was charged a high amount for the problem not being fixed, and for things I didn't ask for. I went back to my original mechanic, showed them the report and the cost break down. My mechanic took the time to go through some of the report with me and show me where this report was wrong. He showed me the specific parts and went through it with me, at no cost to me. The report from LGAS wasn't accurate. Not I feel super taken advantage of by Los Gatos Auto Service, and I will not be coming back. I was later told by my auto mechanic that the gas cap this place replaced it with was an after market gas cap. These are known to cause leaks and problems. I would think that LGAS would have the decency to not give their customers bad parts. Never coming back. read more

I took two vehicles here, a Chevy Volt and a Land Rover. The Volt had a problem with the electric heater -- no heat when running solely on electricity. The tech replaced a motor that opens a value allowing heated air into the cabin, and they charged me around $500 parts/labor. When I picked up the car, there was no heat. I brought it back and they poked around for another day, but eventually gave up and said to take it to the dealer. But they didn't refund any money. The tech at the Chevy dealership rolled his eyes when I told him this story. They found the real problem immediately, a broken electric heater, and replaced it. The Land Rover's cabin fan was not working for heat or AC. They found the problem easily enough, a bad ground wire. It worked for three days but some diagnostic indicators were now lit on the dashboard display, which hadn't been before. The fan then stopped working again. I brought the vehicle back in and this time they did fix it, and the diagnostic indicators went out. Somebody from their "quality control" called me later to discuss the problems. I described what had happened and he said that the owner, "Dave", would call me in a couple of days to discuss things (and the subtext was, maybe to refund some money). Dave never called. The guys who work there are pleasant, but not $500 pleasant. It was simply wasted money. read more

What a great shop. Excellent service and very knowledgeable people. I had a known problem with my BMW and expected a fairly major repair. There are two sensors inside the engine that get clogged and have to be extracted and cleaned or replaced. Dave recommended a BMW certified engine flush that cleans the sensors along with other areas inside the engine. (you should have seen the gunk that poured out the oil drain) Anyway, I got the problem solved, a much cleaner engine, and an oil change for well UNDER $200.00....on a BMW! I also received a complimentary roadside assistance package and a full inspection report on my car (with pictures) by e-mail. You will never get this kind of personal service at a dealership. Possibly one of the best car mechanics I have ever had. When I was first referred to them, I bought my car into the shop twice before I let them really work on it - for a once over and a minor battery fix - I was not charged either time. The third time, when I brought the car in for a proper service (oil change, fluids), I dropped the car off and an hour or so later they called to check in with me prior to doing any service. At the end of the day, they had the car ready on time, and all work costs came in as quoted (in one case under what he quoted), just as promised. Other shops should take lessons from Dave and John - they know how to run an honest and professional shop. Trustworthy and extremely accommodating, they treat you like family - super straight forward. Although I had a rough start with these guys dealing with my smog issues on my BMW, Dave (the owner) came through with flying colors to make things right. I love LGAS! I have been coming here for over a year now and always have a positive experience. John, Dave and Jeff are always helpful and friendly. They go above and beyond. They always try to save me $$ when they can. If they see something additional needs to be done but not immediately they tell you. They never push you to get things done so you spend more money. Today I took my car in to get the tires checked because all 4 of my tire sensors went off. They started on my car the second I arrived and besides checking my tires they also noticed another sensor was on for an exterior lights. They replaced my license plate lights without me saying anything! They didn't charge me anything for filling my tires or replacing those lights! It made my Friday!
