I scheduled a cleaning with service back when they had a 5 star rating, and now I see they only have 4. I'll break down the pros and cons. Pros: -Their online booking is great and their customer service is very strong. -They cleaned big items well, like the bathtub floor that needed to be scrubbed. My couch was vacuumed, which is nice. In general, most things looked clean. Cons: -I paid for a regular cleaning plus the baseboards and fridge cleaning as add ons. When I came back to my house, these were not done. I contacted them and they sent the team out the next weekend for free to do these as well as the rest of the house. When they came back, the ladies seemed to not know what baseboards were, so it needed to be explained to them in Spanish. I don't understand how (twice now) the service can send out cleaning ladies with the instructions to clean baseboards, but the cleaners don't actually know what baseboards are. -They seem to have lost some items while cleaning. For example, the cap to my shaving cream was gone when I came back. Did they throw it out? Why would they think I wouldn't want the cap? Why would they take it off in the first place? Things were weirdly rearranged in my bathtub. I also had some wine cooler inserts stored in my freezer, one of which disappeared after the fridge cleaning. -It seems like they waste all their time (and your paper products) on create elaborate toilet paper/ tissue/ paper towel fans rather than spend more time on the actual cleaning. read more

I have used iQ intermittently over the last 4 years or so and in 2 different houses, and they have always done a stellar job. I'm honestly surprised by the reviews regarding a lack of attention to detail, because my experience has been the complete opposite. Their move out clean on our old house was so thorough and spotless that my impossible-to-please landlord asked for their contact information. We keep a fairly clean house but have 2 dogs, and the dog hair situation is real. They somehow manage to get all of the dog hair - including on and under furniture (even very low dressers) and in hard-to-reach corners. The team is prompt and pleasant, and I've only had excellent experiences. I've used other cleaners in the area and always come back to iQ. read more

I started to use IQ Cleaning to clean my home in 2015 when I called a number of companies in the area and found that they were the only company could give me an appointment with one day advance notice. I have been consistently satisfied with the exceptional quality of service they have provided to my home: not only they cleaned my home well, but also they helped organized my home very well. Terribe service! Do not use! I wish I would've read some of these reviews earlier (although, you can't always trust Yelp reviews anymore). The first one or two cleanings were decent, but then the quality severely dropped after I became a recurring customer. I even had to call after a few cleanings to complain and they offered to come back, but of course that is always a pain in itself. The straw that broke the camel's back was the time they were over an hour late the SECOND month in a row. My roommate was late to appointments both times for waiting around and the second time I called and said to forget it. After ranting to their customer service rep "Nicole" and once she found out I would not be re-booking, she promptly hung up on me. I can understand being late every now and then, but every month is not ok. They are not budgeting enough times between appointments and/or accounting for traffic. Terrible, terrible all around. My husband and I will be hosting houseguests on and off most of August so we decided to get the house cleaned yesterday to prepare for their arrival. I was a little skeptical when I booked a cleaning with iQ that the prices were too good to be true but was I ever wrong. My husband works from home and appreciated that they called to let him know they were running slightly late. When they did arrive they were apparently very professional and courteous. The house smelled great when I came home and is cleaner then it has been in months. I cannot recommend them enough. I paid for move out cleaning for a 1 bedroom, 1 bath and carpet cleaning. They were done in less than two hours -- I let them in and then went out to run some errands and came back just as the cleaners were leaving. My house looked like a whole new world - and it was a beautiful new world. As long as I live in the DMV area I will continue to hire them for move-out cleaning and maybe a cleaning or two each year just because it's so nice to have a clean house without having to lift a finger. They showed up over 45 minutes early, I wasn't expecting them so didn't hear my phone ring. They lied to the door person at my building saying they had spoken to me and that they should be allowed into my apartment. (I had expressly said I would be home while booking the appointment and didn't authorize them to enter in my absence). I got a shock when they walked into my apartment unauthorized. I asked them to leave because I didn't appreciate the security breach, especially since they were early and I hadn't kept them waiting or anything. When I called their coordinator on the phone he was rude and unapologetic and suggested that I cancel the cleaning, which I did. read more

If I could get give zero stars I would. This is a VERY unreliable company. I've had them simply either not show up or cancel at the last minute FOUR times. In some cases there hasn't been a call/email. When they do show up they're typically late. I'm a busy mom with 2 kids, and there's nothing more irritating than planning my Saturday morning around a cleaning company and they don't show up. I have tried other cleaning services in DC but iQ is the best so far. I have used this service twice and both times they arrived on time and my apartment was thoroughly cleaned. They cleaned every crevice and dusted ALL of the furniture - not just the open spaces. During this last cleaning, they even vacuumed my cat tree! It cost $109 for a 1 br/1ba in Dupont but it was totally worth it. I am 100% satisfied and will continue to use this service. read more

If I could give iQ cleaning 4.5 stars I would, but I think 5 stars is deserving because they are the best in the biz in DC. Does that mean that everything was perfect? No. But it was a really great job overall. First, they are VERY easy to reach. Not joking. They emailed me three times the day of the appointment, confirming and offering to come earlier if I wanted. They arrived 15 min early and were very professional for our entire interaction. When I came back to my apartment after the team was done it looked fantastic. The bathroom towels and toilet paper were like a hotel. My bed was turned down. It was a really great clean look and it didn't smell like cleaning products! The few things that bothered me are probably more personal, the cap was left off the sink which was an easy fix and although they cleaned the vase in my kitchen sink they accidentally left a spoon in the drain which could have been a bit dangerous if I had turned the disposal on without looking. The biggest issue I had was that they watered my succulent. I understand they were just trying to be as helpful as possible but it was something I wish they wouldn't have done. The company emailed me to check if I was satisfied and apologized for their watering my plant. So no harm, no foul! Hopefully in the future the teams will remember. I was not impressed in their service. First they were more than half an hour late and they didn't give me a courtesy call to let me know. I hired them for a move in cleaning. It was all snow outside when they walked on the brand new carpet with their wet shoes. I asked them if they were going to put something on their shoes they said no. What?? You are the "cleaning" company. They did a surface job not deep cleaning and the rag one of he ladies kept using was very dirty. I am not going to use them again. read more

A pyramid scheme at best. Horrible customer service. Do not give them your money. Use anyone else. If you have a busy work schedule, they will rip you off by scheduling cleanings without any verification from the client. Maybe I'm old fashioned and am not hip to how current cleaning services work, but having lived and hired cleaners in NYC, LA, Philly, and North Carolina - I've never had cleaners show up without verifying the date. To add insult to injury they charge a $70 fee for a no-show on a day and time you weren't aware of. Their customer service lacks compassion in favor of the bottom line. I understand that this is their policy, but it seems given other complaints that they should consider changing it and adding a human element to their process. No bueno. read more

I'd tried other cheaper services in the past, but was constantly disappointed with the level of service and the cleanliness. I used IQ for about a year and a half, and I had the following experiences: PROS: -Easy to use, transparent website - I was able to schedule a cleaning without having to get a quote or talk to anyone on the phone -Powder room perk - IQ throws in a free powder room/half bath cleaning with your other bedrooms and full baths -Great communication - automated email reminders a week before and a day before your scheduled cleanings, quick replies to emails from customers -Good logistics - IQ set up a lockbox outside of my home so I wouldn't need to be home to open the door for them -Discount for regular service - if you schedule cleanings for regular intervals, you get a certain % off -Punctuality - the IQ team always showed up when they said they would, and if they were going to be late they would send an email notification -Responsiveness - when I emailed about issues or missed cleaning, I always received prompt responses and the IQ team was flexible about sending the team to re-clean places they missed -Occasional extra services provided - every once in a while I would have the pleasant surprise of an extra bonus service thrown in - for example, basement organized or vacuumed, shoes in closet organized, dishwasher running, etc. -Quality cleaning - I had the team come every 2 weeks and I keep my home very neat. I felt like my home was always clean, and the quality of cleaning work the team did was usually good - for what they did clean CONS: -Different teams every visit - I witnessed about 10 of the visits I received from IQ and noticed I received a different cleaning team almost every time. This is problematic because the cleaning team never gets the opportunity to "learn your home." This results in objects being used and left in different places every time IQ comes. For example, sometimes garbage was taken to the trashcans but sometimes it wasn't, sometimes toilet paper was folded but sometimes they weren't, sometimes knickknacks were put back how I left them but sometimes they were placed differently. Even after I specifically requested the same team every week, I noticed inconsistencies in the service I received. -Missed bathrooms - on multiple occasions, the IQ team would miss one of my bathrooms and leave it unclean. Unfortunately, this happened right before I had houseguests. IQ was very responsive and flexible about sending a team to re-clean, but I feel that if I am paying for a service I should not have to call multiple times to ensure that complete service is provided (especially if the number of bathrooms doesn't change!) -Tag team cleaning style - On visits from IQ I witnessed, one team member would move through the home moving things and cleaning and the other team member would come behind cleaning and putting objects back. This may be fast and efficient for the team, but it means that the person putting your stuff back isn't the person who moved it in the first place. The result is things not getting put back where they were. -Clean but not neat - I keep my home very neat, but I leave the cleaning to IQ. IQ cleans but does not always leave my home as neat as I left it. (See tag team cleaning style above.) When I come home, my paintings and art are dusted but crooked, my floors are cleaned with furniture askew, my rugs are vacuumed but off-center, and my knickknacks and other objects are messily placed. -Lack of notification of broken/damaged items - The IQ cleaning teams have broken or damaged multiple objects in my home and have never notified me. Broken/damaged objects include: a soda stream bottle that was run through the dishwasher and melted, multiple pieces of molding that were broken off, an ornamental mirror that was broken, a small bowl that was run through the garbage disposal and hidden under the sink, the cold water knob in the bathtub that was broken off, paint on the porch bannister that was damaged with the lockbox, and (DEAL-BREAKER) my one of a kind wedding cake topper figurine that was broken. I understand accidents happen, but I was not notified. To make matters worse, the IQ cleaning teams made sloppy attempts at hiding/fixing the evidence of broken items. That is unprofessional and unacceptable in my eyes. Different customers value different aspects of customer service. For me, the CONS of working with IQ outweighed the PROS. When I pay for a cleaning service, I expect to feel less stressed. However, with IQ, I felt more stressed. On days when IQ came, I would wander around my house straightening paintings and furniture and checking to make sure all rooms were clean and nothing new was broken. When I emailed IQ to bring up my concerns, I was assured that these issues would not happen again (broken items and missed bathroom cleanings), but they did. That is why I chose to discontinue my service and give a 3 star review. read more

Even though my three older kids do their chores as instructed on a regular basis, as a single father, I am just not good at making sure the deep cleaning gets done. Because of this, I have long pondered the idea of having a cleaning service come in on a periodic basis. I was skeptical of the value/cost ratio, but decided to give it try. I will NEVER go back. It is so nice to have them com in once a month and PROPERLY vacuum, clean counters, bathrooms, etc. Our house went from being picked up to be an actual clean house that rivals my single friends homes. The other cool thing is that you have various add-ons you can do, like cleaning out the fridge for 20 bucks, cleaning carpet in a room, etc. that you might just want every now and then. They are fast, get it done without asking me any questions, and work around me when I have to do work in a given room. So far, they also seem very trustworthy, with having a number of mobile devices and even money left out at times (though it's better to be smarter than me and keep an honest person honest and put that stuff away). The customer service is very personal and you always get to talk to a human that is well spoken and nice to boot:) read more

This is a tough review for me, because the cleaners have always done such a wonderful job in cleaning our apartment. However, after today, I will be looking for other cleaners. We have a dog, who we need to take out of the apartment while it is cleaned, however, it's now 1:10 and the cleaners have not yet arrived for our 12:30-2:30 appointment (which, you'll notice, they conveniently call a window). We did get a call at 1:00 letting me know the cleaners were running late -- no kidding! Frustrating, because if I was 40 minutes late, I'd definitely be charged a fee. read more

This company provides some of the best clean I've ever had. However, minor breakage of items in my home, an in ability to communicate with the staff in my home who provided the cleaning and horrible customer service at their office really lowers their rating for me. When I complained about broken items after the last visit, I didn't hear back from them until the day before my next scheduled cleaning when they called to tell me they could no longer service my home. Instead of handling the problems they discontinued my service. I would NOT recommend this company unless you have the patience to deal with all the accompanying issues. read more

I used IQ cleaning about 2 years ago...at which time they wow'd me. But, after taken them on in 2016, it seems like their cleaning standards had dropped. There has been NO attention to detail. Perhaps, I was assigned an exceptional team in 2014 and such no longer exists for my zip code. Within the last few months, I complained a few times at which I was offered a free service. I chose to have my oven cleaned. To my surprise upon arriving home, it had only been partially cleaned. I really need the service, but decided today that I no longer want to settle if I am paying my hard earned money. It's a shame as in the past, I really liked IQ. read more
