This review is for the newly constructed location. The older space imo was a nightmare with narrow aisles haphazard inventory and not to mention the meat counter that would have lines hours long! I dreaded my visits to the older space and tried to minimize them. The new space is bigger and better. Things are better laid out. While the meat counter still has its waits. Now I might actually bring the person whom I shop here maybe as they have better accessibility. Aisles are wider and hopefully the clients will be courteous as well. 3.5 stars as it saves me a visit to the suburbs. read more

Service started charging $13 for delivery then $18.99 within 1-2 months of each other and without giving any explanation for the change. The service started limiting amount of milk that can be ordered while no other store was limiting these products. Customer service was extremely rude when products were missed and instead of apologies, not sure if any refund was given. Products that were provided were poor in quality. read more

Great place to pick up your everyday desi groceries without having to drive to Mississauga. They have a variety of fresh fruits (foreign & local) for great prices. Frozen food options are also great. Meat Shop: Always busy, I dont think I have ever seen it empty. Tip: Dont be offended by the folks who all of a sudden forgot what manners are when in this store. They will cut lines (speaking from my own experience) most shoppers are courteous. read more

Unfortunately, the grocery store showed their true colours during this pandemic. Not only did they miscommunicate and mishandle one of their employees getting infected they also didn't learn anything from it. Went there yesterday to get some groceries, they had plenty of space if they wanted to do social distancing, we were standing in the checkout line and everybody keeps passing us, literally touching our shoulders, we stopped two of them and said please maintain distance, turns out they were staff, one other guy did that and he was staff too. This is the same staff that had a person infected in their midst, and they are still horrible at practicing social distancing. Meat section is also horrible, nobody is practicing social distancing, that may be expected of people but the staff isn't doing anything to enforce it either. Id suggest going to costco for your halal meet needs for now. read more

Worse place to buy the meat. At least 10 butchers are working in a shift but it takes at least 1 One hour to place the order. Then again you don't know whether they will cut the meat as per your request. Everytime I bought the meat from them I have to cut the meat again. read more

Great place to grab Pakistani and Indian groceries, as well as a variety of fruits and vegetable at a good price. Huge selection of anything you can think of really. Pro tip: The coriander is really fresh and well-priced! I also like the selection of organic grains, pulses and spices. The shopping cart and parking situation is chaotic but I suppose that adds to the atmosphere. It's also really funny that there is always someone trying to force their cart through the narrow metal fence which is clearly there to prevent just that! As compared to all my experience is bad the prices are so high as compared to others specially fruits and vegetables. They will sale at little low when all become rotten. The only grocery which is near my home but after a few years I have had a very bad experience about this place. Basic things like egg, fruits and vegetables are expensive compared to local stores like food basics or Super stores and the quality is really bad. Last week I bought apples which looked glossy from the outside but after cutting the apples, each and every apple was rotten from the inside, my money wasted. The butchers in the butcher shop are rude. The products which he imports from India and Pakistan are very expensive. When they start to rot or expire he puts them on sale. My question is, is there no price check in Canada or nobody is bothered? No price or quality check in this store. Others are bad where prices are concerned, but here it's worse. It's been a while since I went to Iqbal. Iqbal is the brown equivalent of H-Mart. For those not in the know, in the US, H-Mart is the Korean equivalent of Walmart, humongous stores filled with Korean groceries and goodness. But I digress. Iqbal is a South Asian grocery store. Walking into it, is like being transported to the sub continent and that is why is get 4 stars. It's very comprehensively stocked, if you need anything South Asian food related and halal, chances are Iqbal will have it. The store itself is quite well organized, clean and reasonably priced as well. It has a butchery as well which see huge line ups over the weekend. Why has nobody reviewed this place???? This is off the hook the best halal grocery store in the GTA!!! You name it and they have it! Ill review based on categories in the store. The Meat Department : Wow!!! I dont think ive seen something so organized before. You pull a number and can shop around the store until yours is called. They have every cut, every type of meat and super clean. The gentlemen behind the counter always understand what you are looking for. And there is none of that "khoon" smell if you know what I mean. The Produce Department: They had chikoos, baier, custard apple, kahji etc and then the regulars like bitter gourd, cilantro, peppers, squash etc. Breads: The rotis are plentiful and very fresh. Spices: Again the prices are amazing and they have several sizes of packets so you arent stuck with a costco sized bag of fennel. They also have all the regulars like shan, national, suparis etc. Misc: They have everything just go!!!!!! Pakola, rani float, fayrouz! They were also open until midnight during Ramadan, dont know if that is regular. read more

I have not got the products yet. Even before that I am a bit annoyed with their online system. They deducted 20% more than the amount I was supposed to pay. When I called, they said it is their policy, after the successful delivery they will refund the extra amount. I am okay if it is their policy (although I dont know who would pay for more than 50cad worth items and wont recieve it), but no where in the app it was mentioned, nowhere in the bill it was mentioned!! At the bottom of the bill they should have written it. It nearly give me a shock when I saw my credit card paid 89cad instead of 74 cad!!! read more

My go to place for spices like garam masala, cumin, black pepper, chilli power, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, etc. Huge selection of masalas, beans, flour and rice. Parking is a tad bit crazy here so I always either park at the mall and walk on a nice day or closer at the Wind store. read more

This is where it's AT for Indian groceries!!!!! They had everything I was looking for and couldn't find downtown: fresh curry leaves, idli flours, dosa flours (and even premade mix), a tawa/tava for making dosa (get the nonstick one on the top shelf), sambar, karelei, okra AND EVERYTHING to make pani puri!! (already made puri or ones you can fry yourself, mix for cumin water, masala channa!). A few of the younger staff speak English so if you need help, just ask them, they were very friendly and helped me find everything I need. This place also has Indian hair products like Amla oil. And they have cheap and fresh meat. I will be coming here every few weeks to stock up on my Indian supplies! read more

If you like ethnic cooking, this place is incredible! The most diverse and vast selection of spices, flour, rice and oils. They carry pretty much every spice you've tried looking for at other stores and could never find. They also have a produce and meat section, which was okay, wasn't very competitive in pricing compared to other Indian/Pakistani/Bengali stores but their spices mainly are an amazing bet to get great value for prices. A great place to shop for all your South Asian Needs !! Located in the main Thorncliffe Area, this is considered to be among the best Indian Pakistani Grocery Market. In comparison to many other such stores, this has the biggest collection, brands and varieties of traditional foodstuffs. Many a times, it's like you name it and they have it! The basic grocery, the common ones like fruits, vegetables, eggs, dairy products, all of these are priced higher in comparison to convention stores. However stuff like Rice, Flour are well priced with a separate section dedicated to it, there are so many brands to choose from, you tend to get confused if you are new. For Masalas, I have never seen such a huge collection anywhere else. Whether Shan, National or Laziza, you will get it here. There is a Halal Meat Section as well, if you going on the weekends, good luck as it's really busy and the wait times can be long, price wise again comparable. Best is the Frozen Stuff, I get my stock from here only, so many varieties, it makes the trip worthy. Parking is cramped up, you may end up parking far. The cashiers area is also small and due to the rush maneuvering the carts becomes difficult. To sum it up, I would say for Indian/ Pakistani Groceries, this would be an indeed great choice !! read more

So I come here to get my meat and groceries. The great thing about this place is that they have a alot of people in and out so you know the meat will be fresh- be sure to let the butcher know how you want it cut, cleaned etc they are pretty good, sometimes they forget but generally speaking they pay attention to how you want it cut. Apart from that a great selection of groceries, I also get my flour, daal and spices from here. It gets very busy on Friday so avoid this place unless you don't mind waiting. I find mornings are the best. Fruit selection is not that great, I find that the quality is not that good so I tend to stick to things I won't find else where like fresh dates/kino. Grapes/papaya etc I don't buy from there because I find better quality at places like Walmart/Loblaws/No Frills, also don't assume fruit will be cheaper here compared to other places. read more

A North York go-to spot for me for pakistani cuisine. Their curries are humble, warm and feels like someone's mom made it for you. Delicious fresh naan and desserts make a relatively small order feel very fulfilling. I suggest ordering items that you traditionally wouldn't see in other restaurants, such as the lamb stew. I live in Mississauga and never been to Iqbal store. I heard that they are opening soon in Mississauga so called their number to get information about the opening date of Mississauga Store. After being re-directed to another number, someone told me that they have no idea, and banged the phone. Iqbal Food may be moving in the space of Michelangelo but their staff is still in Joria bazar. They should teach some public relations or don't let people who are ignorant and rude to answer the phone. The first impression was bad and I don't think I will do my shopping there. read more

It's a long drive for me but it's worth it, they have all the spices, breads, pastries, sauces, halal meats and much more. The meat here is HMA certified which guarantees that your meat is zabiha and halal. slaughtered the Islamic way. Make sure you call them first, else there is a long line to wait ..and it can take 1 hour before you order is called. The other best part of this place is the range of products - be it rice, wheat, fruits (from India and Pak).. wait till the mango season and you will astounded at the gate crasher for the mangoes. The prices are reasonable. They even have their own brand of cheese - all halal. They have an small calling card card shop inside. Its local and it employs locals.
