Took my wife's car to get some scheduled service. They had me install some foolish app on my phone that they would communicate with me about the repairs and such. I start getting these messages through the app saying "your front end is worn out, you have to fix this ASAP, all your lights are blown out, they need to be replaced". I get the car back and everything they said that needed to be replaced was fine, no bulbs blown out anywhere, my front end was fine. I even got an Inspection sticker no problem and you know those places are frothing at the mouth to fail you in Massachusetts. We had a wonderful experience buying our first car - Subaru Legacy 2.5iPremium with Burton Bonjour today. We had scheduled our appointment so there were no wait times - the minute we walked in, we had Devin Looney introduce us to Burton who would be serving us for the day. Burton was very patient with us in trying to understand our lifestyle and car options and took us for test drives in both the Legacy and the Impreza. We had already done our research so we already knew the car models we specifically wanted to buy and also knew the price range and warranty options we were looking at, so it was more or less a done deal once we figured out the car we wanted to get. Having made the deposit for our vehicle, we will be coming in again to finalize the paperwork including the title transfer over the next week and will then be proud owners of a Subaru vehicle! I need oil change, two days before I made an appointment. On the day of the appointment I arrived 5 minutes before, pulled in and waited 15 minutes while they sit inside their office not even paying any attention to me. I went inside to ask them if anyone is coming out to check me in, they told me wait in the car and someone will come out. Five minutes later, the guy comes out and asks me if I would wait for the service to be done, my response was yes I don't mind waiting an hour. He tells me it will take about 2 hours, to me that is unbelievable. Why make an appointment every 1/2 hour, something is wrong. I believe their management has no idea what is happening. I asked for a quote via email. No quote via email for days. Eventually was told that the delay was due to the staff member in charge of internet sales had a family emergency. Stuff happens! But there was no communication from any of the 4 people I emailed with for days, including the sales director, or the multiple people that emailed me after I clicked some quote buttons on their site. I was weighing a competing offer so I was looking for a quick turnaround. It seemed very clear that this business blames its employees for work they can't complete due to circumstances outside of their control, and is more interested on playing the sales game and getting as much out of their more gullible customers as they can, rather than selling cars. I don't expect much from car dealerships, but this is something else. Despite some issues I've had with Subaru Haverhill in the past, they've been so much more helpful and responsive and have been more than happy to answer my questions over email, what a thought! I'll be writing them a check Saturday for a new car gladly. Would recommend them for sales, at least. On top of it, I received multiple phone calls from sales representatives when I had explicitly requested to do all transactions via email. At the very least I didn't waste my time coming into the dealership during a global pandemic. read more

If you are buying a used car, beware. They won't replace anything before giving you the car. Brought it to a another place for inspection and shouldn't have passed. They are very sneaky and will lie right to your face. Even if I was just bringing my car into service for a oil change, I would make sure they actually did it. I would recommend Wakefield 100%, they just are not honest and not worth the time. Was yelled at by a service advisor and I was not getting loud with him at all. I purchased a used car from this location 7/2022. As soon as I pulled the vehicle off the lot no exaggeration, at the next set of lights something went wrong with the engine. I get it back a week later. I only drove it for two days after getting it back and something went wrong with the transmission on 495. I had to have the vehicle towed back to Ira Subaru. After them having my car another full week. I was told it was just some lose wires, but they stated via text that they feel a slip in the transmission but can't find it. Since then, I have been having all kinds of issues related to the transmission, cracked mount, cracked transmission mount, motor mount, coolant light coming on multiple times. Besides all that when I purchased the vehicle all the fluids were dry after them promising me it was serviced. I needed and oil change immediately after purchasing etc. They didn't allow me to get an inspection sticker somewhere else. They just slapped one on. The service manager told me that it was serviced before I bought it. lies, lies and more lies. They refuse to do any more work and refuse to send it to Ford for a diagnostic inspection. DO NOT purchase a used car from these scam artists. $11,500 I paid in cash and they told me I bough the car as is but refuse to show me where I acknowledged I bought the car as is. I am out $11,500 in less than 4 months of purchase and all they can say is, you bought the car off out Val U Line meaning used, also stating "we don't know if that car is going to last a week or a year, after me complaining that they did not fix the issue. What!! Never offered to give me my money back. Just mickey moused the issue to get me out their face. Then had the nerve to tell me they will give me $3500 as a trade in and I can finance a car through them. I was like do I look crazy? I would never purchase another car from you again! I find the online chat is misleading. They make you believe by saying "I'll see you soon", and the "car will be ready for your test drive when you get here" false. I chatted online and was told this. I was in need of a car and reached out. I explained EVERY detail (Trade, Cash down, payments, etc) Also the fact that I was having surgery so I would visit as soon as I could. I instantly began getting Emails and calls from 3 different sales people. Each let me know the car was ready for a test ride and when would I like to come in. On 2/12/2022 I take an Uber there only to find out the car is not there. After speaking to the salesman I put a refundable $500 deposit on a car I had not even seen yet. Nearly two weeks ago (now 2/23/2022) multiple non returned phone calls and Emails later I am without my $500. I will begin by saying that I despise scathing reviews and have argued with my better half over leaving one on eith Google or Yelp, simply because I can sympathize with the workload that can sometimes get in the way of good intention. This is not the case with this review. Both my fiance and I have purchased from this location. I bought a used 2013 Mazda CX-5, she leased a 2015 Forester, both within 2 months of one another, thanks to the genuine personality that Johnathon, our salesperson had. However, years later, we are moving onto newer vehicles and needed to cancel the gap insurance off of the CX-5 that I no longer own. Begin months of unresponsive contact, and BLATANT dodging of phone calls to complete a simple task. My initial call landed me at the desk of Alex Weiner, finance manager, whom in the style of his General Manager (I've called both on multiple occasions), has a voicemail set up that recites the day of the week and the date along with the time that he is working that day. This only serves to prove that they are hearing my messages which are cordial, calm and even pleading in some aspects, simply to return my call so that we can take care of this. It has now been over 90 days since my first contact with Alex (Finance Manager), who told me and I quote "This shouldn't take long at all, I am about to meet with a client in the next 5 minutes, let me get your email and contact info and I'll call you back in the next hour or two." I have NEVER received any contact from either Alex or the General Manager, Mike. In fact, the only human contact I have had since the purchase and leasing process, were two calls from Johnathan, checking on our satisfaction with the vehicles, and because I left a message with the front desk woman, (I'm so sorry I do not remember her name but she was pleasant). She called me back within two hours and apologized that no one had spoken with me yet, and transferred me to the 508 phone number that the General Manager suggests people "call this number so we can discuss" in other reviews posted here, AND even says on his office voicemail to use as an emergency contact. This process has been so long and drawn out, when it simply could have been solved by either employee involved. If these were my employees conducting themselves in this manner, we would be holding a discussion about their employment status. If, in fact, I am due any sort of monetary refund when I finally am able to cancel my gap insurance, it will be as though Ira Subaru's management stole three months worth of it from me due to shirking responsibility, instead of picking up the phone and solving things as they should. There is NO ONE in this world, that is too busy to leave themselves a note to give a TWO TIME customer a ring back, or simply send an email setting aside a quick 5-10 minutes at a future time to discuss. read more

Problem with the radio since day one Ira Subaru kept blaming Siriusxm. Spoke with a mechanic who work at a different Subaru and he said it was definitely the radio. Spoke with Siriusxm and they gave me a bulletin no for Subaru to go to. I was told it would cost 160.00 to download the software. I told they to look in their records and they would find the history of the problem since day one. They asked if I had contacted SubaruUSA. I am not the type of person that likes to leave a bad review, but here is my story: I have been looking for a new car for several weeks and found that the best value for what I was looking for was in a Subaru. I sent in several requests, via this dealership's online form, for quoting and to set up a test drive. No dice, I did not get a response from anyone there. Could have been a glitch I thought, so on Saturday I stop in with the family. The only reason I went there, is because they are located 2 miles from my house. First impressions, not good. No parking for customers at the dealership entrance. Plenty of spots for service vehicles. We had to park a block away in the lot where the cars that are for sale are parked. Walked into the dealership, and it was as if people were surprised to see us. Eventually, someone found us a salesperson who agreed to help us. I told Robin that I wanted to test drive the Legacy Limited Edition. We also spoke about the 0% financing that Subaru had till the end of the month and some other bits of chit-chat. The test drive was awesome. Robin was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I told her I like the car, and that this would be the model I was going to buy. We went back inside to discuss the price etc. This is where everything fell apart. They gave me the sticker price, which everyone knows is always way above what a new car goes for in a dealership. I showed her an email offer from a Subaru dealer 10 miles away, that was $4,000.00 less. After several back and forths with one of the managers, it was agreed that they would match that price. It get's worse. They did not read the offer from the other dealer, because it clearly stated that everything but the sales tax was included in that final price. At IRA Subaru, they decided to add a ton of other fees and costs bringing the total price way up again. I pointed it out to them, but it did not register for some reason. Then they gave me a printout with the premiums on it. I was taken aback at the large monthly premium amount they had for the 60 months term. I used a calculator, multiplied that amount by 60 and the total amount of premiums paid came to over $37,000.00. That is almost $10,000.00 in interest. When I asked about that, they said that that is normal for people with bad credit, and they had no idea of knowing what my credit looks like. I asked about that 0% financing we talked about the minute we all sat down when we arrived. Robin told me that only people with very high credit scores qualifies for that rate. I checked my credit score, and it is almost 800. It must have been the hat and jeans that made them jump to those conclusions. I don't know if this is done to everyone who walks in there not wearing a suit and tie, or if it is just gross negligence, or bad training or a combination of all of the above. I do not want to do business with these folks at all. I work in sales, and I know how much attention you have to pay to detail, and how important customer service is and above all, honesty. These guys have no clue. I laughed when I went online to check reviews to see if others have had bad experiences there and I saw how poorly they fare. Not surprised at all. My girlfriend purchased a new/used Ascent from Ira. She paid over $30K for the vehicle and paid in cash. At the time of pick-up a large chip/ding in the windshield was detected. They said that they would fix this for her. They called her and gave her a date for service and that was cancelled. It was re-scheduled and guess what? It was cancelled again. Her last call they said her sales person was out and they would call her back. Of course she wasn't called. I called the general manager and surprise, surprise, no call back. This dealership/Ira family of dealerships has the Absolute WORST customer service/support I have ever experienced. I called to get a simple update on the progress of my vehicle's oil change. One hour later and a few phone calls, transfers to service, waiting for over 30 minutes, asking for a call back - and nothing. I called one final time in an attempt to speak to the GM and all I got was an automated vm. I call again and ask to have the GM paged or for them to call his/her work phone. Well, apparently the GM doesn't have a work phone and there's no way for them to contact him/her. Don't waste your time bringing your business or vehicle to get serviced here. I really want to like IRA if only because they're close by. This is the 3rd time I've brought my Subaru (Outback, now Crosstrek) for a recall and have had to wait or leave it with them for an unreasonable amount of time. Today I dropped it off for what I was told would be a 2-hr service and four hours later, they still hadn't called to tell me it's ready. After waiting on hold for about 15 mins, I hung up and called them again only to be told they were closing at 6 and it would not be ready to pick up until tomorrow. Each time I have brought my Subaru in for recalls, a mechanic has phoned or emailed me telling me that I need serious and expensive work done, to the tune of at least $1,000. My car had less than 28,000 miles on it, so I found the diagnoses suspicious. If I could give them less than one star I would. Brought my 2015 Legacy 3.6R if for an oil change and they told me I needed 2 tires. They gave me a quote of $1000.16 for 2 tires. I called Town Fair and it was $553 for all 4 tires. The sales department is great, service department is terrible. They can't keep employees... Always new faces and they try to up the estimate for work when they have your car held hostage a 1/4 mile away. My wife went there 4 months ago and they tried to sell her a $400 cabin filter. I called Subaru of America on them. My advice..... Go somewhere else This is an update to my previous review of Ira Subaru. After my post on Yelp I was contacted by the General Manager and he wanted to rectify the problem. He was professional and was genuinely concerned about me experience with the service department. I needed a replacement key for a 2014 Subaru Forester. I called IRA Subaru and was told I needed to come to the dealership twice. Once to the parts department to order the key then a second appointment at the service department to program the key. The cost for the replacement key at the dealership is $239.00 - WTF. The cost for the same key online is $49.00. Additionally, I needed to pay an additional $52.50 to have the key programmed for a total of 291.50 - WTF. Does the key come with Preparation H? When I question the price of the key they told me it was all the technology built in it. My TV remote has more technology and it cost $9.99. To add insult in injury they charged an additional $6.00 for shop waste disposal. What did they dispose of? The plastic bag the key came in? - WTF!!! Also, the clear coat is peeling off the roof due to bird poop. Although the car is still under warranty, I was told that it was caused be the environment so the repair was not covered...WTF. Thet didn't even give me the satisfaction to look at the clear coat damage. I've been washing bird poop off my cars for 40 years. I never had clear coat peel off. On a positive note....free coffee. I would rather place a rusty steak knife into my eye socket than return to the service department here. Here's the story. I called when they opened at 7:30am and made an appointment for that afternoon to get four new tires, an oil change, and a state inspection. I get there for my appointment at 3:45 and commence waiting. The lady comes out and tells me that they have no tires. Are you kidding me? No tires? I called asking for tires in the morning, they gave me the appointment, and I wanted my tires because there's a huge storm in the forecast. Insult to injury: the website is all "TIRE OVERSTOCK SALE!" pictures of tires everywhere, coupons for tires, everything. Not a single tire in the place. So I asked them to plug the hole in my punctured tire and just finish up the oil change and inspection. TWO AND A HALF HOURS LATER my paperwork is ready. I try to pay, but the cashier is busy doing something and I have to wait some more. I ended up spending two hours and forty-five minutes getting an oil change, inspection, and a freakin plug in a tire. They didn't give me the free car wash that was advertised on the web site (and that I've received before). They didn't even put a little sticker in the corner of my winshield to show when I need the next oil change. Careless. Biggest waste of time. I asked to speak to the manager who wasn't there. Not sure what the heck they're doing in there, but they're certainly taking their time. Avoid at all costs. read more

I had that car for a month with nonstop problems and trips to the dealer before they bought it back to save the hassle. I found a 2017 Manual Subaru Crosstrek at Ira in my price range and decided to go in and check it out. I had to drive an hour to see it, but that is the price if wanting a manual transmission these days. My wife and I went and test drove with Jean Pierre El Hachem and had a great experience. We made a deal and scheduled a time for it to be delivered to New Hampshire to complete the sale. Everything went very smooth and I have been happy with my vehicle so far! read more

I went in today with my wife in order to test drive and get a price quote on a vehicle. Our sales associate was very helpful an honest. The process overall however was remarkably absurd. I emailed earlier in the day for a price quote and to inform them that months prior we had a poor experience with Ira. We had been given the run around, stayed waaaaaay too long, and wanted to ensure this wouldn't occur again. Although I made and appointment for 3pm when we arrived our sales associate was unavailable. We waited for 15 minutes for him only to be transferred to a new associate. At no point was the emailed price quote discussed. The process to get into the car was enough to drive me insane. There were too many questions without enough discussion about car options. We were then forced to select exactly the car that we wanted to purchase, even though we made it explicitly clear we had NO INTENTION OF BUYING TODAY!!! After our test drive we were discussing financing with the salesperson and his supervisor. We had originally arrived at 3pm, by this time it was 430. We waited another HOUR while the sales person went back and forth between his supervisor to discuss "the deal." We were forced to make judgements on how much we would be willing to purchase a car for even though we made it explicitly clear we had NO INTENTION OF BUYING TODAY!!! So, then we gave the salesperson the heads up that we needed to leave. Just so you know, when you customer says they need to leave THEY NEED TO LEAVE. This was not a negotiating tactic. We actually had to go home. The supervisor kept the salesman to discuss whatever and then came back to us trying to get us to commit to a price and sign something even though we made it explicitly clear we had NO INTENTION OF BUYING TODAY!!! In the end, we got a decent price, but at no point did we ever feel like our needs were valued by the dealership. Oh, and at no point did I want to buy a car today. By that time it was 530. Their tactics were to force us to sit in those chairs until we gave up and signed something. I'm sorry, but that's a b.s. way to do business. Oh, I also failed to mention that my keys were held hostage for whatever reason. I couldn't even leave if I wanted to. Fool me once, shame on them. Fool me twice, shame on me. Although we had mentioned we would be coming back tomorrow, now that we've thought it over it isn't worth it. It's not worth it to do business with an organization who doesn't value their customers' needs. We're going somewhere else. So, we won't be back. Tire pressure gauge light on driving out of lot. Today they tell me I have a nail 2 days after service turn signal light would not shut off for 3 hours. They don't know why Grating noise under car when car slowing to stop. They replaced brake pads and routers during service My car had no problems until I brought it here. Upon NEGOTIATION of the price of the vehicle, we had placed our first initial offer for the vehicle hoping to hear an adjustment price to compensate. Keep in mind our offer was very reasonable. The sales person went over to their manager, some tall, scrawny, white male and came back with him. The manager talked to us very rudely and kicked us out without any attempt to help us settle a price, find a different vehicle, etc. read more

I'm only giving them a star cause I have to put something. I called July 4th cause their web site said they were open. My car was damaged during the storm the night before. Mind you they don't answer their phones. Had an online chat with THEIR service and was told service was open even on the 4th until 5. When I finally heard back from the showroom I was told, "oh, that's not them it's just a service . . . ." Um, yeah folks, that's YOU -- you hired them. Tell the woman my issue and asked if they do loaners. She said if they had something they should be able to get me something. To me a loaner means a freebie NOT a you rent it through us! I make arrangements to have car towed in the next morning. Brought it to the service station. All the guy sees is a flatbed tow and sends us to the crash center. I tell the woman what my issue was (not a crash) and that the Subaru service sent me to her. Rather than get her manager she checks me in. Finally a tech comes out and asks me about car. I take him out and hand him my key. His response -- what am I looking at? I show him my dash board lighting up. Again, I get told he's the crash center. I tell him how I got there. He then sends me back to the Subaru showroom. GM of showroom INSISTS I was never promised a loaner 'cause they don't do that. She "helps" me get a rental. Again I'm being shuttled around. I'm at enterprise (nice guys) and before it all goes through I called MY Subaru dealer in N Reading. They do loaners for their customers. Only reason I went to Danvers was cause of they were open on 4th. Didn't know if my dealer was going to be open on Saturday. Stopped everything in Danvers, had car towed to N Reading and THEY took care of me. Guys at Enterprise and 2nd tow truck driver both told me what I dealt with they heard all the time about these folks. I'm FIRMLY convinced all these folks wanted was my money and THATs why I was told what I was told. They have NO customer skills and are liars. Don't go there. If you're looking for a GREAT dealer try Milokian Subaru in N Reading on 28. I don't know what the price difference might have been, but what I DO know is they give a darn about their customers. read more

Sales are great, but Service is not. This dealership lacks the complete package and that will keep me away next time. The sales staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Even the service advisers seemed the same. There just appears to be a huge communication disconnect between the service advisers and the service station that is 1/2 mile away from the dealership. To repeat, the sales experience was great. John T. is a great guy. I started off with a good relationship with Ira Subaru, but for the remaining 80% of the transactions during life of the car, I will need service. I went to Ira Subaru for a flat tire replacement since I have a Subaru warranty. The Ira service adviser called the parts/service center to confirm the tire was in stock. Parts said it was. I waited 2 hrs at the dealership until the adviser told me they actually didn't have the tire in stock. I was okay with one mistake (stuff happens, but it gets worse). The Ira service adviser sent me on my way. I immediately called Subaru of Wakefield and drove there since they confirmed they had the tire in stock. I got to Wakefield only to find that the Ira service people did not return my flat wheel. I called the Ira adviser and asked that they deliver that flat wheel to Wakefield since it was their mistake. The adviser apologized and said a service tech would bring it by "soon". That took 2 more hours. Not an exaggeration. In short, Ira Subaru wasted more than 1/2 my day because of a communication problem between the dealership and the service department a 1/2 mile away. I had a good experience with service as Subaru of Wakefield and will go back there for all the PM's throughout the life of my car. Question: when the time comes, which dealership will I choose to get another car now that I'll be building a good relationship with Wakefield? Something needs to change at Ira. read more

My experience today reminded me why I don't go to the dealer for repairs. I went in for one recall repair (seatbelt) and one minor warranty repair (tail light). While in the waiting room I watched other people get the expected treatment. They took their car in for an oil change and left needing $1000 in repairs discovered during the "multipoint" inspection. I picked my car up. They fixed the seatbelts, but forgot to do the tail light. They said I never told them to do it, but I know I did on the phone an in person. If nothing else they should have noticed it in the "multi point" inspection that the other people got. If I wasn't under warranty and they could have charged me $100 I know they would have found it. Keep in mind that this is the same dealer that tried to sell me a new transmission on a car that lasted another 80k. That car shifted just fine until it died from check engine light issues. I give 2 stars because at least the service tech was honest and didn't steal the $10 I left out. read more

I used this dealership to service my 2009 subaru forester. Overall, it was okay. Recently, I received a letter in the mail saying they were very interested in seeing my car and that they were offering up to 20% over KBB value of my vehicle. My car is in very good condition and the KBB trade-in value is close to $13000 at that time. They offered $7000, no where even close to what book value was. While waiting for the trade-in evaluation, the sales kept on trying to convince me to purchase their pre-owned ones that I have no interest at all. Feel that they only wanted to trick me to their show room, had no intent to purchase my car, unless it was a rough trade. read more

Like Frank R. who posted a review on Dec. 7, I would urge you to stay FAR away. This dealership represents everything that is awful about car purchasing, everything that consumers hate. Told us over the phone that it wouldn't be a problem to take a used car to our mechanic to look it over. Then brought someone over after the test drive to pressure us into buying it on the spot. Said we couldn't take it to our mechanic - it was either buy it on the spot or lose out, because others had expressed interest in the car. We walked away. And we won't walk back in. Suggest you avoid the mistake we made of showing up in the first place. There ARE honest dealers out there with integrity and a true customer focus. Ira Subaru is not one of them. read more

My wife made a appointment to have the gasket on her driver's side window replaced last Monday. Showed up for the appointment Saturday, five days later, only to find out they did not have the part needed. They had to do a temporary fix which meant leaving the care there for a while and now we have to go back next week and tie the car up once again. A courtesy phone call would have been nice so a trip and the day would not have been wasted. It made no sense to drive there just to be told the part was not there when we made the appointment several days in advance. Not impressed with our fist trip to the service center read more

With my Subaru being not even a year old I figured bringing the car into a Subaru dealership for small repairs would be a no brainer. I unfortunately had a screw in my tire and brought my car to this dealership hoping for the best (a patch) but expecting the worst (new tire). I made an appointment for 830 am and was in the door at 815 am. After working a long night shift I figured if I took care of it early in the morning, hopefully the service wouldn't take too long. I was told it would take about an hour for the patch so it didn't make sense for me to take the long trek back into the city. The service took 4 hours!!!! Now I'm not usually impatient but one, if I would have known it was going to take this long I would have gone home and come back and two, how could it possibly take 4 times as long as they told me for a service. I continue to sit here frustrated as other customers come and leave faster than me. Cherry on top......I was told the car would be washed after service and came out as dirty as when I came in except also smelling of gasoline and oil on the inside as well. read more

I just purchased my first new car here yesterday. I had been to another dealership down the road and although they gave me a good price, I did not feel the level of comfort that I felt the minute I walked in the door of Ira Subaru. Andy greeted us and brought us over the the manager Mike. Both gentleman were extremely friendly. You could tell the other sales agents were completely relaxed and loved working there. The test drive was amazing....we went on both the highway and a back windy road. I got a real sense for how well the brakes perform while in the parking lot since Andy had me speed up and stop quickly. Impressive! The Standard Subaru Forester feels like you are driving something special, but we ended up with a Premium 2010 model. After entertaining us with several financing scenarios (thanks, Mike) we worked with Eric the business manager on the paperwork. Although it took a VERY long time to get into his office (they were busy) and we were the last appointment, he was not unpleasant or hurried to leave. He was extremely competent and thorough. High marks all around! HIGHLY recommended. I look forward to working with them on service appointments as well. read more
