Ireh is the perfect place for Korean comfort food! It's located in the Azure building with easy parking and you take the elevator down to the restaurant. So we got the fried mandoo, cheese tteokbokki and the meat jun plate. Everything hit the spot! The fried mandoo was perfectly crispy with a juicy meaty filling. The cheese tteokbokki was nice, chewy and cheesy. The meat jun was tasty with a nice crisp light egg batter. The banchan included kimchi and pickled onion/radish and it was refreshing to eat with our dishes. Service was good and the food came out quickly! They even offered to refill our banchan but my friend and I were already full. If you haven't been to Ireh yet, I highly recommend! Super nice and clean place with yummy Korean food. read more

Happy I finally got to reacquaint myself with this popular Korean noodle place in its new incarnation at the Azure building on Keeaumoku. It's clean and new with young customers and servers, a totally different look and feel from the old restaurant which felt more cozy traditional like comfort food. Good fresh home cooking Korean. Great kimchi in the banchan. Bulgogi Bibimbap was tasty with an interesting assortment of fresh veggies - leafier than what I'm used to. My go to for Korean comfort food. I would come here, once or twice a month. Been here since they were at Keeaumoku (Sam Sung Plaza). Everything on the menu is amazing. This place was really disappointing. We ordered the kimchi soondubu, octopus rice, and cold noodles. I could tell right away the restaurant was not going to be good after tasting their kimchi. It was terrible, bitter, and loaded with dashi powder. The soondubu was the same, so heavily seasoned with dashi that even my husband who does not cook or know what that is immediately noticed and said it was not good. The cold noodles were decent but they came with only vegetables and no meat. The octopus rice was okay flavor wise but I was disappointed that it only had about ten tiny pieces of octopus. My son & daughter-in-law surprised me with an uber-eats of the chicken soup when I was horribly sick at home with strep. The soup was magical!! Three and a half. The food was good but not as great as it usually is. The oil that they fried the Korean chicken in wasn't fresh so I could taste it in the chicken. The kim chee pancake was soggy but still has flavor. The food had flavor but it just wasn't spot on. The girl helping us wasn't so attentive as they usually are. The service was as fast as it could be. The place was packed so I'm sure the kitchen was slammed. Maybe they need one more person on the floor. Near Ala Moana, Ireh is a clean and reasonable Korean restaurant. There is parking in the Azure building with the restaurant on the bottom floor facing Ala Moana. There was a bit of a wait but the staff was efficient and friendly. We got little banchan, which was nice, and ordered the kimchi fried rice and tteokbokki. Neither was super spicy to us and both were filling. We ended up taking leftovers home and it was all pretty tasty. This is a great Korean spot to stop by and try! read more

I've been to their old location before and this was my first time going to the new location. It's located in the Azure building right across the street of Ala Moana. The food was still just as delicious so I will be coming back! The only thing is that they forgot about our reservation which was made earlier in the week so we had to wait about 20 more minutes for them to set up our table of 8. It was also pretty busy, but once we got seated, service was really friendly and the food came out quick! I had the deep fried dumplings (my favorite), ddeokbokki, and seafood chives pancake. The portions are shareable and I ended up taking leftovers home. Btw, this place is BYOB and you can park inside the Azure building with no parking fee. read more

After shopping a whole day on 11/22/23. We decided to give this place a try. It's my first time for me and second time for my guest. I love ttekbokki and they had a great selection here. I ordered the regular tteokbokki, it comes with vegetables, fish cakes and an egg. Our server gave us plenty of time to make our decision and provided answers to my questions. She was polite and a very nice person. Our water was refilled quickly, they give you a pitcher. We refilled it twice. My guest ordered one of the boiling soups! It looked delicious and savory. First visit to new location and mostly good experience just not quite as good as the original but still very good. It's an excellent atmosphere .. Very clean and new. Very different from the mom and pop vibe in the original location. The service is excellent as usual no drop off here. The prices are but higher but that's expected with increased food costs minimum wage, taxes, rent and other misc expenses. The portion sizes are slightly smaller but not noticable. Kim chee is still good but lacks some aging, most like a little sourness. Seafood pancake is good but no longer has oysters and the shrimp is now bay shrimp. Love the mushroom soft tofu stew... Ireh is back! I had been to the old Ireh yeaaaaaaaaaaaars ago. They seem to focus less on all of the meat dishes you'd typically find at Korean restaurants and more on the noodle dishes. We opted for the bi bim naeng myun which was cold and refreshing with good flavor. We also though the soymilk noodles looked interesting so tried that. It was also really refreshing and very different than the spicy bi bim naeng myung. They complimented each other nicely. The mandoo was tasty and had a fair amount of filling inside. The table next to us had a salad noodle looking dish and I'd like to try that the next time, it looked nice and healthy too. First time to this iteration of Ireh. I hesitated since they moved because I wasn't sure about the parking situation or if they would keep the same menu options. Parking was easy! Stalls designated for the restaurants...no problem. The menu is pretty much as I remembered from the old location. The new location is nicely situated and parking, while it is not as obvious, it located up the ramp and there is quite a bit of spacious choices available. The food continues to be excellent. We love everything about all dishes and have yet to be disappointed. Personally, I do not deviate from my bi bim bap with quinoa instead of rice. The textures and flavors, the crunchiness of the fresh vegetables appeals to be on all levels. The mandoo is a must by all means and the various pancake options... just wow. Food was really good, the meat jun portion was pretty big for 18 dollars. Kimchi stew was pretty good too. It felt like another Palama Super market, but a bit more on the expensive side. Service I would say is iffy. My friend and I had ordered spicy dishes and gulped down our water pretty quickly, but there was no refill. Other tables were getting new pitchers but not us. We had our managers luncheon here at Ireh. My first time here. Very spacious, clean, and trendy. I ordered my favorite Korean dish, spicy pork, and it was the best spicy pork I had thus far. All the other managers raved about their food as well. Our party of 8 only spent about $270 which included the service charge, not bad at all for a quality restaurant and great service. The beef and vegetable jook (rice porridge) was also yummy and comforting with a dollop of shredded seaweed on top. The two banchan side dishes brought to the table are nappa kimchi and a flavorful pickled onion that really complements the jook as well as the beef soup. Restaurant is clean with big windows and bustling atmosphere with pleasant but busy young waiters. Park for free in the Azure parking structure off of Keeaumoku (NOT the hotel entrance but use the mauka parking entrance), go up the ramp. Follow signs and take the elevator back down to the ground floor, through the hallway where you can see through the window into the restaurant, then out the solid door, around the side of the building, and into the restaurant entrance. I love this place so I visit each time I come. The food is always consistently delicious. They moved recently to under a hotel which was surprising. Took us a while to find it and figure out where to park for it. It's inside azure hotel. They offer the Korean porridge (jook) which is so rare to find anywhere! I love how it's so flavorful yet light tasting. They also have a bunch of handmade noodles that I haven't seen on menus. I also really liked the ladies that work here. They're always polite and nice. Tried this place when they were still at McCully shopping center so thought it was time to try it again! Located underneath Azure. There's free parking in the building on the 3rd floor right when you go up the ramp. My husband and I always order with our eyes so we were stuffed and still had so much leftovers. All of the portions are HUGE! We ordered the Seafood chive pancake and Omg! This was the best thing we ordered! The pancake is so flavorful and the sauce tastes like a light shoyu with mirin & vinegar. Great addition to the pancake. I can't rave about this enough! The Tteokbboki we ordered was with chewy noodle and cheese. Lots of cheese and the chewy noodles were okay. Maybe next time I'll order the udon noodles with it. You can tell the tteok was homemade because it was soooo soft and chewy. There was a good amount of veggies and fish cake in it. Sauce was great and had a little kick to it from the gochugaru. I ordered the baby summer buckwheat noodles. It was so refreshing! I wish I asked for a scissor to cut the noodles haha they were so long. These noodles didn't come with the typical slices of meat or vinegar on the side like I'm used to so I had to pair it with the meat jun, which tasted really good together. Must try combo!! I had my car died on me after I picked up some food. Nick who helped me with my take out order asked if everything was okay when he saw me walk back downstairs. I was about to call a friend that lives in Salt Lake or call a tow truck. I told Nick about my situation and he immediately try to help me without me asking for it. This was during dinner rush but he still went out of his way to borrow the jumper cable from a coworker, helped me push my car out from the stall, jump start the car and got me going. He even refused any tip that i was trying to give him. He said he was grateful that I used his family restaurant. I was blown away by his kindness. He just earned a customer for life. Love the new shop in the Azure condo! I've visited twice since they moved. They have free parking in the Azure building and there is also a bunch of open stalls. I appreciate that you don't have to fight for parking. The restaurant looks new and has a bit more upscale then their previous mom and pop vibe. Some of my favorites include the fried mandoo, meat jun, and tteokbokki. They are known for their jook which I tried once too. It was delicious but I think I prefer the other dishes better. Overall this restaurant is good, but I must say each item is a hit or complete miss. I have been here twice, and things I enjoy... Meat Jun, tteokbboki, la kalbi, seafood pancake, and pan fried mandu. Their soups can be a bit disappointing as they really skimp on the protein. The heavily do not recommend the kimchi jigae. It is such an easy dish to make so it is actually upsetting how bad it is here.. it was all stew and a few pieces of kimchi Restaurant is clean, but it does get a bit busy for dinner so expect a wait, even if you are calling in your order for pickup, it takes at least 30 minutes. Our server checked on us several times and answered all questions patiently! She wasn't able to split the bill later (system error), so, if you want separate checks, ask up front. I had the LA Kalbi. It arrived on a bed of white rice after the two side dishes (banchan). I liked the pickled radish and onions more than the spicy kimchi. The Kalbi was almost medium rare, but tender. My husband recommended that I go to a Korean restaurant in front of my house, so I went there looking forward to it and ordered kimchi pancake and stir-fried spicy pork, and I said, "This is good." But Cooking wrap found in my husband's mouth when we were almost done eating. At first, I reassured my husband that it would be a tough green onion, but when I looked closely, it was a cooking wrap. I called an employee and said sorry that this came out, and he went to the kitchen, and he came back and said he would give me a discount only for kimchi pancakes. Their service is streamlined, efficient and fast with polite friendly demeanor. They converse with you and check if you want more of a particular item. It's not noisy and on the quiet side. People come in to eat and out the door. This restaurant is always filled because customers do takeouts and don't linger too long. There are two refrigeration that hold taegu by containers, pickle vegetables or Kim Chee if customers wish to buy. On the counter top are rolls of sushi with lots of vegetables inside. I love this stuff...so ONO! Kim Chee cold soup is light and refreshing, not too spicy. Array of pickled onions and Kim Chee were tasty with our meal. Pine Nut Jook was sooo creamy! At first, the pine nut flavor was faint, but don't stop! It becomes stronger as you eat more. However, it can be a dessert with that creaminess, soft, and smooth texture. Abalone Jook is the same way...mix it up and see plenty of abalone...very generous amounts! Although not as creamy as the Pine Nut, but still the right texture unlike most Jooks. Seafood Chive pancakes were mostly chives, soft and a great dipping light shoyu sauce that must have some mirin and sweet, punches a great flavor. Bulgogi stir fry was filled with flavor and veges. And you shouldn't forget about the Mandoo...biggest ones ever! It was filled to the max...and sauce is a killer. Roasted barley tea was hot, comforting, and clears your palate. Water can do the same thing, but the tea is boss! Did I tell you that they don't use MSG and very health conscious with their to preparation!
