Pretty good Caribbean vegan take-out place, though a bit pricey for what you get. Friendly rastafarian vibe.

Horrible. Ordered take out and store was closed! Never got food- awful experience. Do not order from here unless you want your money taken.

A totally unexpected surprise…read more We were hankering for meatless/less heavy, and stumbled upon this charming Vietnamese restaurant. A tiny, family business who provide a quiet, serene and pleasant dining experience. NO MUSIC. BONUS! Spouse had the "bun bo Hue" and myself the "crab and fish maw". Hubby said that the taste and texture of the seitan (glutens) were on point. The "fish maw" in my crab soup had a perfect fish maw texture! We polished both off our dishes in record time and felt good about what we ate. I'm not a vegan but sometimes you just want something light and sustaining. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. The owners/staff are nice to their customers.

It felt a bit cramped, and with everyone turning to look at us, it was a little awkward- definitely one of those we just walked into the wrong party moments. Once we got seated, we were handed menus with numbers and asked to write down the codes for what we wanted. I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered the spicy tofu and spring rolls as appetizers, while the rest of the group ordered a variety of noodle dishes. One by one, the dishes started arriving, and I have to say, the portions were generous and everything I tasted was really flavorful. But then I kept waiting for my food, and by the time everyone else was nearly done eating, the server came over to say they had run out of crispy tofu. On top of that, we had ordered two spring rolls and only received one, even though we clearly marked "x2" on the sheet. At that point, it didn't make sense to order something else and wait another 20 minutes to eat alone, so I just ordered a spring roll and rice chicken roll to go. Overall, the noodle dishes were delicious and definitely something I'd come back for. But the restaurant could really use some improvements in organization, space management, and order accuracy.

Out group tried the Biscuits and gravy, shrimp Benny and brisket Benny as well as fried green tomato, kids apple johnny cakes and grilled cheese. The portions are generous. The chicken with the biscuits and gravy were 2 pieces of brined dark meat chicken served on a biscuit and collards smothered in pork gravy. Chicken was very juicy and super crunchy, collard needed some acidity, biscuit was light but a little overdone and gravy was not as fat a decadent than in the south, lighter but still tasty, wish they poured it a little more generously. The fried green tomato was outstanding as the accompany silly aioli situation was great. Kids apple jonnycakes were a hit and loved the hot chocolate with mini marshmallows for the kiddos. Gtilled cheese was a hit - got the pull and the bread was well toasted. The home fries were a bit of a let down. Although very cool and layered, they seemed very greasy, maybe oil or flattop wasn't hot enough? Benny's were both good, shrimp cake was well cooked and crisp and brisket was flavourful and moist. Hey have no waiting area and take no reservations. Use their call ahead service and enjoy

I asked the cashier what her favourite protein was and she said it was the chorizo so I got that. The burrito came in a flour tortilla, red rice, chipotle cream, mozzarella, lettuce, and pinto beans and it was absolutely delicious. Everything just worked so well together. Service was very lovely as well. Although it's a takeout restaurant, if you dine in, they put on a silver tray and serve it to you. There's a couple of dine in seats. Will totally return to have another burrito.

Serving a variety of plant based tacos, burritos, quesabirrias, as well as sharable items (think impossible nachos, guac and chips, quesadilla...), there is something for everyone even if you are a meat eater. They also have lunch specials you can take advantage of as well. This location is primarily take out only although they do have a few tables indoors and patio tables outside. I stopped by Taqueria Vegana on a weekday for lunch. There were already some customers waiting for their food but otherwise the place was not busy. I ordered a trio of tacos as well as a hibiscus Zamalek drink (from Montreal!). For the tacos I ordered: - Impossible chorizo (house-made impossible meat chorizo, charred onion, and potatoes) - Carne Asada (charred and perfectly seasoned texturized soy protein) - Seitan carnitas (braised seitan garnished with red pickled onion) The tacos came with 2 salsas and some limes as well. Staff were friendly and I ordered my tacos at the counter. I decided to eat on the patio and my food was made at a reasonable time (about 5 min wait). Staff brought out my food for me as well. Tacos wise, I enjoyed all the ones I ordered, however, my favourite was the impossible chorizo tacos. The salsas were spicy and flavourful as well. Overall, great new addition to the Junction Triangle. Definitely would return if I wanted some plant-based Mexican food!

Paella anyone? I bet you haven't heard that in a while. And…read morehonestly, who knew it was such a Portuguese thing too? We all know Spain made it famous, but Portugal? INSANE. Back to why I do this. I'm endlessly curious about food, people, and the magic that happens when great meals meet good music. Friendships just seem to evolve naturally around a table. And thank you, E, for another incredible photo -- your choices are always perfect. Mercado on St. Clair is a hidden gem. What was once beside my mom's flower shop downtown has now found a home in a slightly more industrial setting on Caledonia -- and somehow, it works perfectly. Cozy seating inside, a great covered patio outside, and that village-style European restaurant vibe you hope to stumble across. First off, the waiter was phenomenal. He walked us through the menu, explained everything perfectly, and genuinely elevated the whole experience. The menu is massive -- meat, seafood, everything you could want -- but we came for the paella. We were told it takes time because they make it the proper way. Not overly crispy, just authentic, rich, and layered with flavour. Worth every minute of the wait. To start, we had the gambas / shrimp in a rich red garlic and herb sauce plus extra toasted bread for dipping, per our waiter's recommendation. Absolute rockstar move. The other appetizer was a delicious beef stew served over crunchy rustic bread. Simple, hearty, and top notch. Now... drum roll please. This may have been the best paella I've ever had. Okay okay, maybe somewhere along the coast in Spain I've had one fresher... but this was absolutely off the charts. Zero fishy smell. Just beautiful saffron-infused rice with that perfect slight crisp, loaded with mussels, clams, octopus, calamari, shrimp, and more. Built for two people to share and completely unforgettable. A few glasses of house white later and bam - there was absolutely no chance I was going back to work. And dessert? I kept telling myself: "No dessert, Frank. No dessert." But there's a rule in life ; if you see crème brûlée on a menu, you order it. This wasn't exactly crème brûlée, but a cheesecake-inspired version of it. Two spoons, four bites, and thank you very much. Favourite meal of the year so far. Completely blown away by this place. Mercatto -- go now. Go fast.
