I made this my "go-to" nail salon shortly after they first opened for business. The owners and staff are all very kind and gentle people with excellent skills. The atmosphere is peaceful, the technicians are mostly quiet unless something is asked of them. The salon is clean and pleasant with thoughtful touches: back pillows for comfort and nice boxes that are provided to customers at the beginning of their service and are moved through the salon as clients move from place to place. It's nice to have your things moved along with you rather than scrambling to gather your belongings or putting your things on the bare floor. The services are all competitively priced for an upscale nail salon in northern Montgomery County and they offer all kinds of manicure and pedicure services, again, with lovely "extras". I particularly like the complementary shoulder and arm massages as your manicure is completed. Their products are top-of-the-line. They offer full waxing services but i'm unable to comment as I haven't had them. I will say that they don't rush their work so you may find yourself there longer than in other salons. Since moving to Germantown, I have only gone to Iris Nails f or my pedicure. However no more! The technicians have all been very good; it is the front staff that is the problem. My appointment was made by a man at the desk (he chose the time they had available), the following day a woman called and wanted me to come in 30 minutes earlier (odd since the man who made my appointment gave me the first available). Being at work, I couldn't - but offered to "try" to get there a little earlier. She only heard what she wanted to hear and went ahead and completely changed my appointment. I ended up arriving just a few minutes before the appointment that was made for me. I was rudely told that I missed my appointment time since she changed it and would not be taken, and that I would need to make another appointment for two days later. Needless to say, I found another place that though busy, is accommodating , and ALL staff are polite and efficient. Unlike at Iris where the girl at front is so rude and clearly has a stick up her (you know what)! read more

I just had my nails done at Iris nails and spa and I gotta say I am impressed!! This place is so clean and everyone was so hospitable. Lisa did my pedicure and it was extremely relaxing (usually my ticklish feet don't let me relax) but she had a great touch. Janet gave me my manicure and OMG I am in love with my nails! I booked an appointment for 12:00 and arrived at 12:07. I was told that it will be half hour before they could take me. They overbooked. I told them that I was unhappy. I asked them if they were going to take me in half hour to make sure. In the mean time a customer comes up and starts harassing me saying you did not come on time and you should not be dissatisfied if u have to wait. The staff did nothing to stop the customer. I had such high hopes going here based on the other reviews. The staff is exceptional and the shop is very clean and well decorated. Unfortunately, that's where the good stuff ended for me. I have been using SNS powder over my real nails for years now and am honestly surprised at how badly the SNS has lasted from my service here. I've had 3 nails totally break which sucks because they were mine and I hate having to put tips on which I'm now going to be stuck with. The SNS layers are so unbelievably thin they provide no additional strength or protection for my nails. And finally to make matters worse at least half of my nails have begun to lift at the cuticle . If I had gotten my nails done 3 or 4 weeks ago, I would be able to accept this but it has literally been a week and the first break occurred 2 days after my appointment. Sadly I don't think I'll be back or recommending this Salon. I can't justify the money spent for services/products that don't last as intended. Updated 9.30.19 I've upgraded my score to 3 stars as the owner was extremely responsive and has generously offered to redo my entire SNS manicure at no charge. I'll be going back tomorrow and will update my review after my appointment. It's nice to see a business stand behind their services and products and fix something when there is a problem. read more

10/10. I walked in a bit after opening with no appointment and the ladies were catering to me the moment i opened the door. I've been doing SNS manicures for about the last 3 years floating from one salon to the next in this area as nothing had "Wow'd" me, until i came here per my friends recommendation. This is the ONLY salon I've gotten a full manicure before applying the dip powder. Amy's attention to detail was out of this world. Easily the best experience I've ever had. I will say the color selection for SNS isn't as wide of a variety as I'd like, but that's something i imagine will change as it's a fairly new salon. Its clean and overall seem safe... Stacy the tech there is amazing, and the look in her face when i was dismissed was appalled... However the Owner Sue appears racist. I walked in and she said i can get a pedi and i wanted my nails done when she said she had 345 appts. Clearly their website states walkins welcome. The owner Sue stated, If they didnt show up she would take me for the nails as agreed to complete the pedi. .well they didnt show and a group of Caucasian females came in around 415p and she took them and ask me to come back in abt 1 hr.. They were walk ins because they ask for a pedi and ask how much she advised them the price between basic and more comprehensive pedi..i was there. Already in sit and nearly done with the pedi, when Sue explained to the group that it was okay to complete the pedi, because their 345p appointment cancelled and instead of completing my services requested she dismissed me. Racial discrimination is so wrong when we keep patronizing their business. How unfair. As a Black woman i felt so violated and disrespected BLM ...My money is as good as anyone's money. read more

4 stars for Iris nails. I was in the other day, I got a pedicure and gel manicure. The staff is friendly and professional. I got a "regular pedi" which was $30, everything was great until it came to the callus on my feet. ( Background, I stand on my feet 40 hours a week or more) I assumed which is my fault, that callus removal was apart of the $30 pedi as I have a usual nail salon that I just pay $3 dollars more for what I call a normal pedi to have the callus removed. Now, when my tech realized I had calluses on my feet that require a little more attention she said you should've gotten the "spa pedi" I said oh I wasn't aware, can you still do the removal? She said it was too late, which was disappointing. I didn't mind paying more but unfortunately she said it wasn't an option when I asked. There were other details that Iris Salon does that other salons do not do for their basic pedicure. For example, the pedi included a hot stone massage and paraffin wax for the heels but I would skip that if I could and just get the callus removal as that is more important to me. Now for my gel manicure, I loved everything about it except the attention to detail on my cuticles. I watched her go through the motions of cutting them but she wasn't really. She may have been rushing as it was almost closing time. Beside the few negatives I still had a mostly positive experience. I hope that as time progresses they grow and further their services. I will be back to try again once they are a little more established. read more

The only reason I would rate this place a one star because it was beautiful inside (but then again it just opened so it SHOULD be) and the lady that greeted me was nice. The ambiance and appearance and cleanliness is really great, I will say that. However I went on a weekday for a fill-in for acrylic nails and a pedicure. The lady that greeted me proceeded to tell me that their do not have an experienced nail technician that could do my nails since they were acrylic (so how are you going to be a nail salon with only one experienced tech that does acrylic?) However being that I needed to get my nails done because I had lifting and broken nails, she said there was a visiting nail tech that could do acrylic nails. Well this visiting, allegedly experience nail tech nicked be twice while using the drill to remove the previous polish. After that she proceeds to give me a fill in. The acrylic was thick and she filed everything by nail file. Why she didn't use the drill I don't know being that she used it to remove the nail polish but it seemed to take FOREVER (over 2 hours to be exact)! Then she looked at me like I had two heads because I told her I wanted my nails VERY square with no rounding because through wear and tear the edges round off some anyway. So she did a decent job of shaping them. Them comes the nail polish application. She puts on the base coat, 3 color coats, and 2 top coats. The very next day, not even 24 hours later the polish from two fingers (thumb and index finger) peeled right off. I mean there was 6 layers of polish after all. Then the thumb nail that this so called experienced tech filled in was STILL lifting and ultimately I had to peel it off so it wouldn't break my nail and/or give me a nail fungus with moisture getting underneath. So come checkout time, I get charged $76 for a regular (not a spa) pedicure, the fill-in and they charged me $15 extra for the gel nail color...that peeled off two fingers and is lifting from another 2 fingers. So $80 for a horrible nail job (that WILL NOT LAST 2 WEEKS UNTIL THE NEXT APPOINTMENT) that I am totally NOT happy with. This is what I get for trying a new place out of location convenience. My old place does a much better job and doesn't charge extra for gel polish. My old place would have charged me maybe $55 or $60 for the same service. I WILL NOT be going back here again. I would advise you not to either. read more

This is a really nice place and I had a good experience. I got both the spa mani and spa pedi, and I felt so pampered. Everything was clean and neatly displayed in a comfortable, well-lit space. The decor was nice and airy with little extras like pillows to support your back in the mani station chairs. Even the lotions and other items for my mani/pedi were arranged on pretty trays next to the station. The mani/pedi itself was well done with a lot of attention to detail by the technician who worked with me, Joy. I would go again and recommend it to friends in the Germantown area. read more
