What a great surprise where I least expected it. After missing our turn for a hike we came across the Iron Bridge Cafe and had a second breakfast. My sons split the blueberry belgian waffle and a biscuit both of which were fresh and quite good. The two women who owned the cafe were very nice and quite helpful. Our panic upon discovering that our favorite Blue Ridge restaurant that we'd gone 8 miles out of our way to visit had burned down turned to relief when we found a different restaurant to satisfy our very hungry SUV-load. We weren't sure what to expect, but found a nice little restaurant with good food, friendly people and even free wifi. I independently settled on the meatloaf sandwich and then upon ordering discovered that 2/4 of my travel companions had as well. That quantity seemed to catch them off guard - at first they were unsure if they had enough meatloat (but ended up having enough for exactly 3), but only had enough Texas Toast for 2 people. I had mine on regular white bread - and didn't care. The meatloaf itself was exquisite. The fact that 3/5 of us ended up with the same order was surprising, because several of us had a hard time narrowing down what we wanted to eat from the varied menu. Everyone enjoyed their food and especially enjoyed chatting with the personable people working there (the owners, I believe). Minor details keep it from getting 5 stars: my friend had the turkey ruben and was slightly disappointed that it was deli meat and not fresh turkey. I would have loved fries with my sandwich, but they only had chips. The inside is decorated very sparsely. After a weekend spent in a cabin with no wifi and sparse internet connection, the free WiFi was a huge plus. They also have a small selection of general store items, mostly targeted to the area rafters. read more

Picked up sandwiches one afternoon for my family who was playing down the street at The Lilly Pad. Lunch was so good that I brought my whole family back the next morning for breakfast. The two women who own and operate this place are fantastic...they both ran restaurants in Atlanta for many years and finally decided it was time to do their own thing. What a delight to find this amazing small cafe/sandwich shop next to the Toccoa River! We had fantastic sandwiches - I had a great turkey reuben and my husband had a homemade meatloaf sandwich which comes with with boursin and provolone cheeses. It was to die for. The cafe is run by Eddie mcGhee and her partner Sydney, both veterans of the hospitality industry around the world including Europe and Africa. Be sure to make a stop for a nice casual breakfast or lunch. You will be happy you came. P.S. They also have hostel bunks for $15 a night if you are hiking on the Benton McKay trail or just enjoying tuning and kayaking on the Toccoa River across the street. read more

If you are exploring the beautiful Aska Road area of Blue Ridge (known for it's excellent hiking, fishing and river rafting), you must make time to stop by the Iron Bridge! The owners are friendly and helpful and have perfected a small but delicious menu of breakfast and lunch choices. I had one of the best brownies of my life here, along with several other delicious sandwhiches. Their small store also stocks simple basic supplies, for cabin renters who need a few staples. This stretch of Aska Road is stunningly beautiful, largely because it is undeveloped. If you are visiting Blue Ridge, it is worth a drive out for the beautiful scenery along the river. Great food and great people. I had the #2 breakfast combo scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage and toast and my son had the original pancakes. He said the pancakes were perfect. My breakfast was very good. Nice to have a great place to go on Aska and not have to go into town. Coffee was really good too by the way. They also have a general store there as well. We really enjoy coming to the Iron Bridge cafe when were are visiting Blue Ridge/Toccoa area. They have great breakfast options, everything we have tried is great. The food here is excellent and at a great price. The service is welcoming and friendly. My friends and I eat here often and you can't beat it! I've noticed that there are many comments from folks that even admit they've never been here and seem to focus only on the confederate flags for sale as gifts. This is in the South, people do like those types of souvenirs and you cannot erase the past by being so judgmental. How you could possibly equate selling gifts and souvenirs to condoning slavery is absurd, to be far too polite. The war has been over for 154 years and over 300,000 non-African descendant Americans died to secure the freedom of African descendant Americans. Someone will of course accuse me of being an employee or owner but I can assure you that I am not. I am just a loyal customer that is offended by the comments of those that would so harshly judge and criticize on an assumption rather than facts. In addition, I'm as black as any African descendant American out there. The difference, I embrace love, Christianity and do not feel entitled to play P.C. Police. I would never stoop so low as to try to condemn a restaurant where good people are trying to make a living without first, having factual information, and second, actually going there myself. read more

Have been coming to Blue Ridge for several year and neglected to stop here for lunch. That was a big mistake! The restaurant is unique and comfortable. While the menu seems normal I assure you the food is not. Everything is cooked when ordered and is very very good. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you can, you must have a desert. It is almost impossible to find words that fully express how great this Café, Store and the Family who own/operate it are. My family spent a weekend in a cabin not far from Iron Bridge and found ourselves snowed in and out of food and supplies. To our surprise, in a cold call effort to find someone to help in any capacity- we got in contact with Iron Bridge and life reminded us in that moment how there are extraordinary people among us. Not Only did they offer to pick us up from the mountain and take us to their store for supplies.. but without any hesitations, they tapped into their own stock of food and offered it to us as well to ensure we had enough provisions to make it through a few more days. Their generosity and selfless act of kindness made us all fans of Their Business and kind souls.
