Our table filled up quickly I ordered the miso soup and it was very temperature hot which is great! Lots of flavor. The server brought out the soup almost as quick as we were seated. Then the Chef came with his cart full of food and supplies. I ordered the filet and it was cooked perfectly! Loads of flavor and not tuff. Chef definitely kept us entertained. Generous portions. Food was not very flavorful which was quite disappointing. I ordered scallops with no egg yolk sauce. This is my go to order in other Japanese steak houses. I've always had juicy tasty scallops. I think because I ordered no sauce they thought I wanted without any seasoning very disappointing. My husband ordered the shrimp which is also served as appetizer . It was ok. I would go to the many other places before I would go back to Iron Chef. read more

3 out of 4 of us had stomach issues after eating here. The chef was nice and entertaining... the usual. The food was good. Notice they don't give as much bean sprouts or veggies like before. Iron Chef is the best Japanese Steakhouse in the area but the Quality of Food produced varies by cook. The chicken is always overcooked, today the rice was a tad crunchy and not very flavorful but the steak was cooked perfectly. The ratio of vegetable is always plentiful. This is a typical hibachi place, with good food prepared in front of you by an entertaining chef. You choose what you want on the menu and the chef prepares bulk rice and then your meats. You must pay for fried rice, so I opted for white rice, but when the chef made the fried rice he had a lot left over so he gave it to me and the other white rice people it for free. It was nice for us but unfair to the rest of the table that paid for it. The service was not terrible. It felt very cheap in there, which is fine, but the atmosphere wasn't as good as other hibachi places. I give this place a low review and cannot recommend it due to a health hazard I encountered. My fork still had old rice stuck in it. I don't know what else in that place is dirty but the quality control is poor. read more

I know that Iron Chef doesn't have the greatest reviews, but I actually thoroughly enjoyed my meal. We came on a Friday night (my husband and I) and were sat at a table with a family. You get a typical hibachi experience, with the waiter giving an entertaining show as he's cooking the food. One of the members at the table was celebrating a birthday, so a group came over and even invited us to play a tambourine during the song. I had scallops (with fried rice) with egg yolk sauce and it was super flavorful. I had absolutely no complaints. We recently moved to the Reynoldsburg area, so this will be the hibachi restaurant that we come to from now on! read more

Came to Iron Chef for a late lunch, it wasn't very crowded and we got right in. I ordered the steak, fried rice, and the salad. I ordered the salad with the onion dressing which is very good. It's light and delicious. The rice and veggies were done first. I ordered my steak Medium rare and it came out just right and very flavorful. Service (4/5): Staff here was very friendly, we were sat immediately upon arrival, and orders were taken no long after. Taste (3.5/5):Crab Rangoon was good, but not a must have; Fried rice (not pictured) very comparable to Benihana (not a compliment coming from me); Massive bonus points for this location having 'egg yolk' sauce, I can't get enough of that stuff. I have been here thrice! I have driven past this restaurant countless times over the years, but failed to try it because I already had a favorite hibachi place. Well, that one finally closed it's doors Wow! This place was such an unexpected delight! We ordered the Imperial Feast For Two: we were able to separate and get both the Land & Sea (filet, shrimp, and chicken with added fried rice) and the Seafood Lover (shrimp, lobster, and scallops with added fried rice), the scallops comes with the option of egg yolk sauce -- sounds and looks quite unappealing, yet def worth a try. The imperial feast comes with: two small pours of plum wine, soup, salad, veggies (zucchini, mushroom, onions, and bean sprouts), steamed rice (upgrade to fried for additional money), shrimp appetizer (hit or miss - we've had it once out of the 3 times), and ice cream (haven't ever had this, didn't know it was part of the meal until just now tbh). Granted, we've only been 3 times, but we haven't had an unpleasant time yet. There are times the service lags, usually when it's extremely busy - the salad and soup bowls are often on the table longer than they should be. I do not think that they have more than 1-2 servers at a time or maybe at all (we have been served by the same waitress all 3 times). Hibachi Is very common, so what sets them apart? The efficiency of the chefs & the egg yolk sauce. The meals have been prepared to perfection each time. My filet has always been perfectly medium. I haven't even heard nor seen the egg yolk sauce prior to here - it honestly looks like a giant glob of butter... I'm sure it's a heart attack in a bowl, but it'll be the way to go! It melts so effortlessly over the seafood, and adds that extra flavor that you didn't know was missing. And the portions are extremely generous. We have always taken 1-2 meals worth of food home. I can't really speak to the sushi, or much more of the menu, but this place is def worth a try. 5 for food, 4 over all. read more

Had dinner at Iron Chef, I have been here multiple times before and had always been impressed. On this night we sat at the tables away from the grills themselves. This could have been where I went wrong. I ordered hibachi chicken and fried rice. The soup can out, it was delicious as ever, then the salad. It was great as well. When our food arrived it looks a bit different. The rice was exceptionally dark, and the vegetables looked very wilted. The taste of the food was off as well. The chicken was a bit tough. When asked if there was a change, I was told that they are cooking in large scale now as they are seeing many more take out orders. This plus not setting directly at the grill top lead to off tasting food. I think this is due to COVID, as all the visits before have been good. read more

See notes below: Pros: - Bo was our server and he was great! - Aziz was our chef and he was fun and entertaining! - The portions are huge. Our entire family had leftovers for the next day. - My stepson and I both ordered the shrimp and scallops with fried rice! I topped mine with yolk sauce, yum yum sauce, and siracha! SOOO GOOD!!! If you haven't had the yolk sauce, you definitely need to try it! - The staff was super accommodating regarding my daughter's egg allergy so that she could enjoy the tasty food and entertainment with us. - The staff surprised my stepson with a birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday to him which was nice. Could use improvement: - The bathrooms were extremely cold. Like so cold that it was hard to even go... - Hold off on the checks. It seems that this happens at most hibachi places, but giving customers their checks prior to even putting a dent into their plates comes off as rude. I was really really impressive by my experience at Iron Chef. I've always loved the aesthetic of Japanese Steakhouse's and there was no exception here, as the decor and setup of the restaurant really made you feel like you were in another part of the world. Our chef was AWESOME and displayed some pretty impressive showmanship and was cracking us up the entire meal. He made sure to pay special attention to our daughter who was having her first hibachi meal and she absolutely loved it. The food was pretty good - I'll admit I've had better hibachi meals - but it was still better than most and I certainly don't think you'll be disappointed at all with your meal. As always with a hibachi grill, you're going to be paying quite a bit, but I promise the food and service is well worth it. Simply put, I think Iron Chef is one of the best hibachi locations in central Ohio and if you're in the vicinity you definitely have to check it out. read more

Service was kind of slow to begin with but everyone was very friendly. Our cook Charles was great very engaging and fun, our server was on top of refilling drinks. The food was yummy, except the sprouts tasted weird. I usually love bean sprouts but these were kind of bitter. I appreciate that Charles was considerate and ask everyone if they would like something before putting it on their plate. He cooked my medium rare steak perfectly and was a pleasure to have tonight. The place itself is a little run down, I know it's hard out there for local businesses so don't let the little cosmetic stuff turn you away from dining at this establishment. I have a love hate relationship with Iron Chef. I've been here a million times when I used to live on 256. I've been here for special occasions and on drunk mornings. It's normally pretty good. But sometimes you can have issues. Sometimes I feel like it depends on what chef you get determines how your experience will be. But while that is true about a lot of Japanese steakhouses, I feel like it's more extreme here. I've had chefs who are engaging and chefs who are just there to make a check. Also some chefs cook the food better than the others. I feel like at other steakhouses the chefs are more closer to the average then how it is here where they are on one end of the spectrum and another chef will be at the other. That being said, when the food is good the food is good and you will love it. Also I love that they have the egg yolk sauce here. I get that on everything. However I don't like how they fry the sauce by itself then give it to you. A Lot of other places will put it on top of your meat then cook it, that way it sticks to your food. When they just fry it then put it on your meat it's almost like it's greasy and really doesnt coat the meat.. Overall this place is good. But don't be surprised if you walk out disappointed. But don't be surprised if you walk out highly satisfied and full. It's a mixed bag here. But most of the time it's solid. read more

The food was very good. The chef was excellent. The only thing I did not like was the salad dressing. I am sorry but, it looked like puke. It was really strong. I was told it is an onion dressing. I would change the dressing. I didn't see anyone eating their salads. I couldn't eat it unfortunately. The service was great. I look forward to going back. This is our son's favorite restaurant since he gets a show with his dinner. We came for lunch since you save a couple of bucks and you get the same quality as dinner. The food is always really good and I love the dressing on their salad. The soup at the beginning of the meal has some excellent mushrooms in there and the flavor is spot on. We all got the chicken hibachi for lunch and the show was pretty good. We start out with the fried rice and the yum yum sauce. Rice was cooked really well and the hibachi chef pours the sauce from a super high distance. The veggies are super good and had a ton of mushrooms and zucchini. Lastly the chicken was pretty good as they put soy and another sauce on there before serving. The only thing I need to mention is the cleanliness. Our dishes had to go back because there was hardened food on them and the table where we ate was super sticky. Sticky enough to the point where you couldn't slide a plate across it. Absolutely horrible experience. It had been a couple years since I had been, but man has it surely gone downhill since my last visit. The restaurant itself looked dingy and dirty and something about the atmosphere just felt really nasty. I ordered hibachi steak and was never asked how I would like it cooked. I didn't realize that he was already cooking my steak since I was never asked but then got suspicious once I saw there wasn't any more steak left on the cart. I asked the cook if the steak currently cooking to the death was mine and that I wanted medium rare, and he immediately took it off but it was already over cooked by then. He somehow made rice that was not good, used bean sprouts that were spoiled, and left without seeing if we needed any sauces. I will never be back here, I get way better food from Hibachi Express. read more

Our family has been coming to Iron Chef for well over 10 years and have always had great food and great service. Sadly, tonight was completely different. We arrived around 4:40pm knowing it was Valentine's Day weekend so it would be busy. Our party of three was quoted a 30-40 minute wait and we were seated in that amount of time at the table just to the left of the entrance with six other adults and two young children. Needless to say we were all shoulder to shoulder with little room. The grill was already on high heat when we were seated so the room temperature was quite hot and uncomfortable. Our drink orders were taken and filled and then our main course orders were taken. My wife ordered the filet mignon while my son and I both chose the chicken and shrimp. There were several customizations at our table (double this, triple that, none of that) so there was a lot of writing on the small order card. The chef soon arrived with his cart and started working on the fried rice. Salads were eventually delivered so we had to rush through eating them in order to free up our plates for the rice being cooked. Fried rice was dished out and the chef took out the plate of protein. My inner food safety concerns kicked in as there was chicken, steak and shrimp all touching on the plate; a cross-contamination no-no. Some of the shrimp were still gray when the chef doused them with soy sauce so I'm praying we don't have a problem with them in a few hours. Steak and filet portions were cooked and delivered to those who ordered it but the chef missed a box on the order card so my wife's filet went to the guest sitting next to her who ordered regular steak. This was an understandable miss due to all of the writing on the card and he made it right by cooking another order of filet. By the time the vegetables were cooking nearly the entire table was empty on their drinks and we had to flag down the server to ask for refills. Soup was delivered mid-meal so nobody touched it. The chef didn't have very many show elements aside from the big intro fire and the onion volcano and seemed very rushed. We found all of the food fairly bland in taste and aside from the filet mishap he missed another order customization and also spilled a dish of ginger sauce while serving portions of food. There was no offer to refill any of the sauces which was disappointing as well. Before leaving the chef wiped down the grill surface but there was rice and foodstuffs scattered across the edge and ledges of it; not the best way to show guests the equipment is being taken care of, being cleaned properly, and combined with the protein tray and undercooked shrimp that preventing foodborn illness is a priority. I'm hoping that a majority of tonight's poor experience was just a result of the restaraunt being over busy but some of the food safety concerns can't be attributed to the crowd. The food was par. What was bothersome was the dirtiness of the restaurant. I got grease stains on the seat of my pants and my husband had 2 grease stains from the back of the chair on the back of his shirt. Entry way was just mopped and not dry. My daughter and I came for dinner tonight after dining here numerous times. Normally, we are satisfied and glad we came. Tonight was a different experience. We haven't been in quite a while so I hope this isn't the norm now. We came in an hour before close, the business was still very busy. Sat down, had our salad then about 15'minutes later our chef came to cook our food. We were the only ones at our table but that leaves no excuse to rush. Our chef completed our meal in less than 10 minutes. No fire, no seasoning or teriyaki/soy sauce on our meal. Rice was undercooked and no flavor at all. My soup came after we completed our meal, which it is normally served before. The meal was horrible! For 2 of us our bill was $80 plus tip. No plan to return anytime soon, unfortunately. read more

I will definitely give good reviews when deserved but this was terrible. I wish I would of listened to the reviews I read today. First time going here today and I am completely lost for words. The cook did not say two words, no entertainment not friendly at all. We bought a mix drink while waiting for dinner, I thought it tasted like juice so I bought a shot of 151 to add to my Zombie drink that was supposed to already be in it..they definitely water down their alcohol. My boyfriend don't even drink unless its a beer here and there, he tasted it before I poured it in my drink and said I cant believe this, its so watered down. I ordered filet and the other gentleman at the other end of table ordered well done to. I had to have him put it back on twice. Chicken was very chewy and the pictures I have attached was a half of filet split by two people. Terrible experience and I would not recommend this restaurant nor will I ever go back. They rushed us and brought boxes as soon as the cook was done and cleaning the grill. My boyfriend didn't even eat half his food do to taste nor did I.
