This is the fourth time I've been to the music venue at the Iron Horse on Tuesday night. Jay does an excellent job at taking reservations and reserving tables for everyone. The band is incredible. The food is good. The young man pouring water and bussing table is VERY attentive and does a great job. The rest of the service is horrible. Tonight I was seated at 5:45 PM. At 6:30 I still had not been greeted by my waitress. When she was at the next table, I waved her over. She waved back but didn't take come to my table. At 6:45 I went to the bar in the next room and had a beer poured in about 90 seconds. At 7:15 I saw my waitress at an order entry kiosk so I got up, walked over, stood behind her for about 5 minutes while she was entering orders. Finally, I tapped her on the shoulder and told her I'd like to order dinner. She said she'd be right over as soon as she got her orders entered "I Promise!" At 7:45, TWO HOURS after being seated, I left, without ever having a chance to order. My previous three visits I found service to be very, very slow. Tonight it was horrible. There were two waitresses for the entire room. I didn't count how many were seated, I'm guessing around 70. Two waitresses who were running their butts off but couldn't keep up. This is a management issues, not the case of lazy or inept waitresses. When I was standing behind my waitress, waiting, I observed she was entering the orders into their order system. She had already copied everything down on a paper pad, now she had to re-enter it onto their system. Most companies give their waiters / waitresses an iPhone like device where the order is entered and transmitted to the kitchen. One and done. This place makes them do it twice. Completely wasted 10 to 12 minutes. The inefficiency of the order entry system coupled with a grossly understaffed waiters/waitresses results in frustrated customers. In my four visits, my observations are the same. Not enough waitresses, inefficient systems, slow kitchen. After my departure, I went to Texas Roadhouse. 90 seconds after sitting down my waitress was there to take my drink order. Beer in less than 2 minutes. Placed my order, 2 or 3 minutes later my salad arrived. 12 - 15 minutes after finishing my salad my rib eye arrived, cooked perfectly. $55 I planned to spend at Iron Horse went to Texas Roadhouse. I observed at Iron Horse most of the tables around me received their drinks no less than 45 minutes after ordering, followed by meals 30 minutes after that. Restaurants make a lot of profit with drinks. They are missing the boat big time. 45 minutes with nothing in their hand could have resulted in two or three drinks, vs. one during the 3 hours of music. I'm done with Iron Horse. 40 minutes driving each way, $7 to park and horrible service. There are lots of restaurants with good music, good food AND good service. read more

If zero stars was an option they'd get it...took over an hour for our food to arrive. Was told it's coming 3 different times, only to wait 20-30 mins longer...Rude male bartender...place is a joke of a restaurant. Stick to serving alcohol...that way your customers might not remember their experience. read more

We had a great time at Iron Horse! We just came here for drinks and live music. The place looks big. It looks like it's broken up to two sections. There's games in the back, an area for musicians to perform live music, and one bar area. It didn't look like there were servers, and there was one line for the bar, so we assumed that in order to get a drink, we needed to line up at the bar, which we did. The live band was great. They played a few covers that everyone was familiar with. The crowd seemed to have a great time dancing. There were people at the dance floor at all times. I'm not sure if this is a local's spot or if everyone was just super friendly, but it seemed like a lot of the crowd knew each other. So we've always enjoyed the drinks at Iron Horse but let me tell you about the nachos. Do not order them. My husband was so excited about chicken nachos and nacho cheese (as indicated on their menu) and well. No nacho cheese AND The chicken was so dry we couldn't get it down without an actual bit of liquid and it's almost like they baked the nachos - so dry and well frankly pretty gross. Waitress confirmed that they no longer do "queso" and it's been an ongoing request. Won't ever eat here again as we left 98% of the nachos on the plate and they didn't even offer a refund. Bald bartender likes to call you names under his breath as he walks by. weird to throw shade at your paying customers for no reason. we definitely won't be back anymore unfortunately for them. definitely a hostile environment and i wouldn't recommend at all, there's plenty of bars right next door that will treat people with respect. coming from a local who also works in the service industry.... read more

Came in with my friends and the bartender was so rude. Gave us attitude when we ordered our drinks, afterwards he walked past and called us "losers". I don't think it's normal for staff to be calling paying patrons "losers". He was bald and short I don't know his name and I'm sure glad. Don't recommend if you're looking for a good time. read more

We stopped in Iron Horse on Sunday afternoon Labor Day weekend. I had a French dip with grilled peppers and onions. It was toasted to perfection. Loaded with meat and veggies. And absolutely delicious. Hubs had a grilled Turkey club that was equally delicious Our waitress/bartender was terrific. My dad and I are driving to the Midwest from Seattle and stopped in Coeur d'Alene for a beer and some food before continuing east and were thrilled to come across the Iron Horse! The fire inside felt so good, food was excellent, and the bartender (whom I didn't get the name of) was lovely. I got a cheeseburger, my dad got the "big chief" ham and cheese sandwich, and we both got tots that came with some house made sauce. Fellow patrons - it's a tough time in the service industry right now, so please show your bartenders and servers some extra grace while businesses do their literal frickin' best to stay open. read more

Went yesterday for happy hour with my wife and decided to come back that same night for Karaoke. Had a great time and met many locals (we're from Vegas). Drinks are reasonably priced but didn't try the food. Overall very chill and had a great time. Plan on going back tonight. read more

All the bad reviews hahaha. This place is a few min walking distance from me and I go for the wings and bloody Mary's. I'd say they're the best in the area. It does get super wild and loud and wait times can suck. I typically sit in the back side of the other bar and you'll get a drink a little faster. Staffs always chill. read more

Went to the Iron Horse on Friday to listen to HAZE. Our server was a little dynamo. Cyarra T. was very attentive, not overbearing! She took care of everyone. It's every bit as bad as they say. Apparently, back in the day this was a good place to have a meal. These days, it's a good place to sit and have a conversation while you wait for your food. The service was slow and mediocre. The food was cold and over priced at best. I was just thankful to not get sick after eating at this place. I don't know if this is a management problem or an ownership problem, but somebody should figure this out. Honestly this place should go on kitchen disasters or something similar. Well Back in the 80's I used to go to this place on a Friday night with my college friends and we would share a derailer. This is a very large drink in a bucket. So of course we are traveling and I have to stop to show my hubby and well so disappointed. The cost of the drink was so not worth it. The place is a yucky dive and the service or lack of service is so rude and not helpful. So sad. I used to love this place. Such a shame. Wow this is by far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The waitress is a 23 year old who's attitude is that of an angry 15year old. It was my husbands birthday and she says I wish I could offer you a shot but since you have your kids with you I probably shouldn't. My husband says that's no problem since I'm not driving. The waitress said - well whatever way you want to traumatize your kids I guess is your business in the rudest nastiest I rolling voice. When she brings my kids crayons she points at the kids and says if you break my crayons I'm gonna break all of your arms no smile no joking. Later My son was getting on my lap she walked up behind me with a tray of tartar sauce I guess my arm nudged her and my sister said that she did the hugest eye roll accompanied with blowing air out of her mouth in huge frustration looks down at me and says watch it lady! everything we tried to order the waitress said it was horrible What she did recommend fish tacos and meatloaf. Both 3 out of 5 and that's being generous. The waitress left such a horrible impression I would never go back. It's a bummer because the restaurant had a really fun atmosphere. Having landed in our destination, we set out with a friend to discover the area and rustle up some dinner. We stopped in just as the dinner rush settled and the live music was warming up in the adjacent space. I suspect that is why the service was rather poor. We had to track down our server a few times before he got the hint that we were there for dinner. It's a good thing that the food and beer were tasty, else this would be a different review. We all ordered Wallace Brewery Irish Red to drink, which says something when three different types of beer drinkers all enjoy it! Again with the beef tonight because of the long drive through Montana; we ordered a Cow Catcher (friend), Steak Fingers (The Hubster) and the Taco Platter (me). Soon after the order was placed, the elusive server returned and informed me that they ran out of taco shells and offered to substitute tortillas, which was fine by me. As we waited, we noted that it was nice to be in the restaurant, even if we were largely alone. The music next door sounded great but was far away enough to have a conversation. Next time, if we aren't so dead beat from the road, I'd like to stick around for some tunes. Dinner and refills arrived. The Hubster *raved* about the Steak Fingers. He let me have a bite and I understood completely; great seasoning, very tender with a crisp crust. I sort of wish I had ordered that BUT my tacos were very good. In fact, I suggested that they always offer the tortilla option. The food almost made up for the service, but it's still a problem. I was not allowed in last night despite being 23 and having two forms of identification. They said they couldn't allow a paper temp ID because it had no picture, but I had a plastic ID as well with my picture to prove it was me. Two forms of ID that match up perfectly and couldn't get entrance. I can get through TSA with these ID's, btw, but can't get past the Iron Horse's relentless and noble security. Came here on June 27 about 12:40. There were 6 other groups throughout the restaurant. Ordered drinks and they came quickly. Ordered our food and it took almost an hour to arrive. The fish and chips were well fried and DRY. Fries were just ok. What a disappointment. We will not return to the Iron Horse. read more

Waited to be seated for about 5 mins with tons of empty tables. We had 3 different people say they'd seat us but kept waiting and waiting and finally left. People in line behind us left before we did. They're either very understaffed or don't know how to run a business. It is a creep-fest, the bartenders are rude, the security doesn't seem to care about the gross behavior of some of their customers as long as they are regulars they are free to make everyone else uncomfortable. Came here on Memorial Day with a group of 6, patio was very full and inside was quiet as a bird. Looks like they had only one server working that entire day, she probably was a bit frustrated and maybe over whelmed. Even so she still had a great and positive attitude, she was a pleasure I wish I had gotten her name. Food was amazing we all were happy with our selection! Onion rings were on point. Santa Fe wrap was dope! Pulled pork sandwich was two thumbs up, their halibut tacos were good but maybe less lettuce, nobody goes for the tacos for the lettuce. This place is kind of old and cool inside, but we mostly sat outside and didn't get the full ambience. It's standard diner fare; it's very likely that everything was frozen before being served. That said, it was a convenient spot to stop for a midday beer and snack. However, service was...kind of slow and weird. We asked for the beer list and the server said it was outdated but offered to tell us verbally. We agreed to that, and she then informed us she knows nothing about beer and wasn't really sure what any of it was. We wanted to know what beers they actually had (just saying "a beer from XYZ Brewery" doesn't give much to go on!) so we ended up with the beer list anyway. Our order also came out wrong at first. One friend ordered a side of chips and got fries, and our friend who ordered fries got nothing. It was eventually remedied, and later we realized she might be in training so we gave her the benefit of the doubt, but it's something to watch out for. Friend and I got a table outside, place was so-so busy, mainly at the bar. Over 1hr and no service and the waitresses ignored us. Was as if they was mad or that time of the month. I can not remember the last time I see this lever of poor customer service. They would avoid even looking at us as they huffed by.
