I can't give a zero star review, but if I could, I would. Our company was with them for 10+ years and the prices kept going up. The cost to get a box out of storage and put back got so ridiculously high. Then we decided to close the account. Wow. Almost $20K to close the account. This means destroying boxes and returning some of the boxes we need to keep. Then after we get it all worked out and paid in full. They take their sweet time setting up the destruction and delivery. So meanwhile they need to continue charging storage fees while our boxes are held hostage. This is the worst way to run a business. I can not recommend them to anyone, ever, period. It all sounded good at first, but after you commit you are basically a prisoner. Don't even get me started about the issues when their storage facility was hit by a tornado and we were expected to pay for destroying boxes that were damaged. Does it make a noise when I bang my head on my desk?! Iron Mountain epic fail. We closed one of our two accounts in 2011. Suddenly there's a box and we owe $300. What? What box? We destroyed or transferred all the boxes at GREAT EXPENSE. Why is there suddenly a box. Was it lost this whole time because I know from the emails stating that they cannot find a box that they absolutely lose boxes. Either way, after three months are arguing and being assured it will be taken care of in 24 hours, I still have a $300 bill and this one lonely box on a closed account. If they did not charge so much to jump ship I'd be buying a floaty. read more

OH MY HOLY GOD I'M AT MY WITS END. I've been trying for THREE MONTHS--yes, literally, 3 months, to close my account and get a delivery of my boxes. NO. No no no no no, that's apparently not going to happen. Every variable you can consider in dealing with a customer service person has occurred: -I've been left on hold for up to 2 HOURS and then HUNG UP ON. -The customer service agents cannot help me unless I have my order number. Why is my order number not on file? -I've put in a formal "order" at least 5 separate times to close my account, but when I call to find out the status of my order, they have no record of my order. This has been done by writing. -They have continuously claimed I have only 1 box, when I have 19. Later, other people have confirmed I do have 19 boxes. -I have spoken to numerous people who seemed helpful who promised to sort it all out, and that everything was just fine, and have been told my boxes would be delivered and even given a delivery date... ....but guess what happened?? THEY WERE NOT DELIVERED. Since that time I have spent at least 12 hours of the last 2 weeks sitting on hold, calling and writing emails, trying to get someone on the line who can help me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I have never dealt with a more inept company in my life. We have been using them for years for both shredding service and storage of our medical records. Over the last 18 months they have become horrible if not impossible to deal with. It is impossible to get anyone to answer the phone or respond to your e-mail. If you happen to get someone on the phone, they continuously lie to you. I was finally able to speak with "James "David" Medina | Customer Care Professional" and I asked for his supervisors phone numbers and I'm told that NO ONE has a phone number. No one at all within the company has a phone number? Really?? How in the world do you operate a company where no one has a phone number??? I followed their protocol for ordering the destruction of stored charts on May 4th and I have not had a response to date despite following their instruction on requesting an update both via e-mail and telephone. I have called repeatedly for weeks and gotten the same run around. They continue to charge me for the boxes in storage that I have requested destruction on and have made no attempt to arrange for the destruction. They told me "Donna Smith" was handling the case, but she doesn't have a phone number either, nor have any of my messages that they have supposedly sent her been acknowledged. This is complete incompetence and I refuse to pay the storage fees from the June bill forward due to the fact that your company is completely "MISSING IN ACTION". We have paid $600-$700 per month for years.... Time to call a lawyer as well as a new records management company/shredding service. And don't go blaming Covid... This has been a terrible experience from beginning to end trying to deal with Iron Mountain. They charged our company for three consoles up until the day we cancelled service instead of the two in our possession for OVER A YEAR. There was no record of us giving the console back, which is baffling considering they are in the business of providing security of documents - a missing shred bin leads me to believe that they are not as secure as they claim. When the issue of the charges for months and months was brought to their attention during cancellation, they refused to refund any of the money because it was the below the threshold of $10/ per error.. although the years total for the mistake was about $60.00. If you are looking for a shred company, pass this one up! read more

If there was an option to not highlight any stars, I would have clicked that. I have been dealing with this company for about a year now and every time it is an absolute disaster. The online support can not answer any of your questions, and when you call, you get put on hold. Sometimes someone will eventually answer and sometimes they will just hang up on you. I would probably complain about the prices but when I called to find out how much they charge to retrieve boxes, I was told that my particular account only listed prices for shredding and even though I COULD retrieve boxes with my account number, if I wanted to find out how much it costs, I would have to open a second account. Which they would charge us for. I give up. I will pay you anything just to get all of the boxes out of there and never have to deal with the TERRIBLE customer service ever again! read more

AWFUL, DENVER Colorado! We have a business open from 8:00 am -6:30 pm and they keep billing us saying that can't get in Every time they claim to send someone out, they bill us! If you are a small customer (less than a few thousand boxes) stay far far away. You get next to no customer support and they will hold your boxes hostage. It takes legal action to get them to release your boxes. On top of that everything is stored in multiple locations - even if you only have a few hundred boxes. When we parted ways with Iron Mountain there were 12 boxes of files that they were unable to locate. Several months after we moved to a different company they found 1 box and delivered it to us. If they can't manage to keep track of a small number of boxes how can they keep track of a large number? Stay away, there are a lot of businesses out there to choose from. Just don't choose this one. read more
