Food- I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Burger was juicy and flavorful. Fries were cooked the way I prefer them- crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Service- although my server was a bit overwhelmed as it looked like they lacked additional staff- she did quite well in attending to more customers than one server should be assigned. Ambiance- to be fair- the restaurant is adjacent to a truck stop. Plain decor yet welcoming in its open setting between the restaurant and truck stop. Price- reasonable Value- yes. read more

The first thing I noticed, having an injured back, was that all of the booth cushions needed replacement YEARS ago! It was painful to sit in them. When I looked around, every one of them was sunken in with no cushion really at all; except on the outside edges. Service was quick and ultra friendly. I ordered the fish n chips. Being all fried, it came out pretty quickly. Having been to England, it definitely needs work, since they're calling it that. The chips/fries were soggy, and the fish, while soggy also, tasted OK, and the portion was adequate; but, just wrong by traditional standards. We have been here a few times. The staff had consistently been friendly. Service has been good. We have found that the food is better if you order from the menu as opposed to getting food from the food bar, but that is a personal choice. The restaurant is large, so we've never had a wait. Ok so the actual place is nothing to write home about but it's clean. But, the pancakes are perfect! We live nearby and go on Saturday mornings for pancakes. If you get the pancake breakfast you get 5 big pancakes. My husband orders pancakes, eggs and bacon and I get a side order of turkey sausage. His bacon is always crispy and eggs are scrambled. We share the pancakes... I get two he has three and they are on point! Can't speak for the rest of the menu, but I definitely definitely definitely recommend the pancakes! read more

#21/2023 Well it's been quite a while I think during covid was the last time I think I reviewed here. Like any other iron skillet it follows the same kind of things there's no changes at all. Only thing that changes are pretty much the hours vary locations still due to staffing. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt it's really three and a half stars but for the service they have in the cleanliness they're doing pretty good job keeping things pretty good. I decided to be adventurous and try one of their new smash burgers tonight. I went with the bleu cheese one minus pickled onions. This is the new craze everybody's jumping on the smashburger bandwagon in the Petro iron skillet and I think ta county pride are kind of trying to join the crowd. Personally I'm not a big fan. Impressed at all pressing the burger with a spatula on the grill okay let's put everybody seems to do now it's the new in thing smash burgers. Me I like a big old thick juicy burger I think better. Now I'm not saying it didn't taste like crap or anything it was fine but it just wasn't for me. I probably won't go to a smashburger location because if this is what it is not what I want. But I will say I have an eating smash burgers before they coined the term for years I've been going to steak and shake since back in late teens. So yes they are the original smash burgers before the term was coined they take the steak Patty they smash them on the grill. So, we were looking for breakfast out and most of the time I can figure out something that will be gluten free and safe for me to eat. Not here. Food allergies need to be taken seriously and apparently this location doesn't care. If you have food sensitivities, I do NOT recommend this location. They did not offer an allergen/nutrition menu, the waitress seesentiallt just said they did not offer a gluten free menu and she had no suggestions. Not I will get my manager to help you, nothing. Everything exceeded my expectations! I walked in by accident looking for the Popeyes next door. The atmosphere and vibe was very good. After walking into Popeyes I turned around and went back. So glad I did. The server Kierston was excellent, my order was delivered in a timely manner exactly the way I ordered it. Sirloin medium was crispy hash-browns with shredded cheddar and eggs over well. Was delicious. Could not believe how good the steak was. Never considered asking for the steak sauce. I will never be back. I heard rumors of this places cleanliness but unfortunately had no closer places that sounded good besides McDonald's or Burger King. So we gave this place a chance. Service was excellent. The food initially looked and smelled great. Halfway during my meal I discovered a roach cooked within my food. I was absolutely disgusted and informed our waitress. She compt our meal and apologized. It still didn't help with knowing I ate food that probably had more in it. The health department desperately needs to come evaluate this place. Years ago I was in field service and traveled through here several times a week. I would eat lunch here at least once a week and they had the worlds best "King of the Road" country/chicken-fried steak, real mashed potatoes, and homemade white gravy in any restaurant I'd ever eaten at. Then I moved away. I last ate here about 5 years ago and it was still tops then but now?! Someone has done away with everything local about the place and they're whole menu has been tossed in favor of "healthy eating". And what they called chicken-fried steak and gravy came straight out of a freezer. The homemade mashed potatoes have been replaced by some sort of mass market hash browns that make those served at Waffle House look like haute cuisine. This was the worst food and service I've ever experienced. Incredibly bad, we had to ask multiple times for utensils and our check. We got just the salad bar because other people's food was taking so long to come out, and the buffet look unappetizing to say the least. Also! When we did get our utensils they were filthy. Starting out bad First off I keep getting hate stares from the blond waitress. Ordered food. Go to salad bar and there's hardly anything up so we ask our waitress if she can get someone to get some lettuce etc, she says "I'll go get it right now" and disappears. Called restaurant and enquirer catering price for chicken fried pork chops with zero sides, salad bar or soup. Was told by manager that I could order as many as I wanted at $1.99 each to go. I then asked I when this was available. Manager told me 24 hours a day!! Just went to order pork chops! Cook pitched a fit and said hell no they are not 1.99. The person they said was "night manAger" came out and grilled me about which day I called and who I talked to. Acted very tacky and rude. She said they will each be $2.99. I cancelled order! Not going to be lied to by general manager and then schooled by lazy tacky night crew!! Heard they were shutting this location down soon and turning it into Burger King!!! That would be great!! It's a small buffet, but with plenty of choices. It will exceed your expectations of any restaurant attached to a gas station, but this locale is set up more as a small travel plaza. It's prices very accordingly and the facilities are clean. Our food was good and we enjoyed our visit. We have given this place several tries and have been disappointed every time. The last time was Saturday afternoon at 11:45 am. There was six of us and we showed up as they were putting the breakfast buffet away. They informed us that lunch was coming out soon so we decided to wait before we ordered to see if we wanted buffets or to order off the menu. They finally started putting out lunch around 12:25 and very slowly. Three of us decided to order off the menu while the other two went for soup and salad and one buffet. The salad, as usual, was excellent. Cold and fresh. After that, it's downhill. It was almost 1:00 before they put the soup out and while the potato soup was good, the beef and cabbage was as if it was a poor persons soup. Very little ingredients. Next came the buffet. I had cream potatoes, pork and beans and fried chicken. The potatoes tasted very bland and the pork and beans tasted like they were just poured out of a can. The fried chicken, while it looked good, was extremely dry and stringy. I then had a small plate of peach cobbler and it didn't taste done. As we finished our meals our other guest at the table had not even gotten their meals. The waitress had been by and was apologetic as to why it was taking so long and we asked her to find out how much longer. She came out from the back and informed us that the kitchen had told her, in certain words, it would be ready when it was ready and not to ask about it again. It actually took over an hour for them to receive their food. It was chicken fingers, and a patty melt. As I stated in the beginning, this was not our first time with this type of service. It has happened every time we've eaten there. They've cleaned up the look of the restaurant, but not touched the cook or servers. Will not be back again. I live in the area and it is starved for a good place to eat so we checked this place out and I was pleased. It's open 24 hours which is nice because I have to work night shift every two weeks and it gives me something to grab quick and easy. The hot bar is good and is reasonably priced. Great breakfast. Coffee was perfect. I ordered eggs and bacon, with grits and biscuits. Everything was cooked just right, and promptly served with a smile. My husband got the buffet, and I tasted the buffet link sausage which was the best breakfast sausage I've ever eaten. He had an omelet made to order (omelets on weekend only), and he raved about it. My daughter's hash browns were crisp and tasty. Portions were generous, and prices reasonable. Highly recommended! Note: This restaurant is in a truck stop. For my husband that itself was a great recommendation, because from his very extensive travel experiences, truck stops tend to have great food. Don't bother! We stopped for breakfast on 12/30/2015 around 9:30 am as we were traveling northbound on I-59. This is a restaurant at a truck stop. We ordered the breakfast buffet for $9.39 and coffee. We should have tried ordering from the regular menu, but I'm not sure it would have been any better. The sausage gravy and biscuits were OK and the bacon was good, but nothing else can be recommended. The service was very friendly and efficient. The restrooms were horrible. Had breakfast buffet a couple of times recently. Good was good, service was excellent. Large group both times and server was fantastic.

The food is good. The service is great. Salad bar is fair. Some salad items like pineapple & mushrooms looked a little old. I had the Texas Hamburger Steak. It was very big & good. Last night we ate the soup & salad. We sat in the back room & watched the entire Alabama/Clemson game with several truck drivers. We felt very comfortable & welcomed.
