I wanted to like it. The menu is great. I didn't dislike it. I just wasn't impressed. The food was average with not a lot of flavor and everything was luke warm. I want my breakfast and coffee hot. The place wasn't packed because of the time that we went so I was surprised at the wait to take our order. Food came out quickly but just tasted like reheated food (bacon, corn beef hash and home fries). My husband commented the eggs on his Benedict seemed small. My omelette was okay. The home fries were burned a lot in places but not crunchy at all. Burned and soggy. My husband said the corned beef hash had no flavor. You shouldn't have to salt corned beef. I would try it again. The food was fantastic, but the service was some of the worst I've had. Our server, Hooper, completely ignored us the entire time, save for the two or three words while we ordered. We had to get our drinks from an entirely different person, who actually did take care of us. When we could actually see him on the floor, Hooper was either sweeping up nothing or parroting hustle culture instagram reels at his coworkers. All of this does not represent the restaurant, in my opinion, and certainly not the incredibly skilled and fast back of house crew - as an ex server and ex line cook, thank you all for the meal - but front of house is who set the stage for their excellence, and they need to hold themselves to a higher standard. Iron Town has been always our first place to go for breakfast. However, I have noticed some things that I want to suggest to the cooks: The beef marinade - please make it just salt and pepper. That thing of getting stake with a flavor of candy is not good. BBQ or whatsoever is meh. The potatoes. Please peel them and then boil them. The skin makes the texture very rough and unpleasant to the stomach. Sometimes they are cooked very well, and it doesn't feel but it seems that sometimes the people at the kitchen are in a rush and I have had potatoes that are still hard. In relation to a comment, I read in prior to mines and the person that takes the names and puts them in a list. I want to say it nicely because I am planning to continue going but yes... last Saturday I told you that my party wasn't all present and you let me in, but I didn't like that you looked uneasy and grabbed my coffee from Dunkin Donuts without asking permission to grab it. You said that there was something at the door that tells that people cant bring outside beverages but you took my coffee first and you told me after it the policy. I understood the policy and it is not different from other places, but you didn't let me hand my coffee to you. Actually, you snatched it and that is not polite. I am sorry but there are ways to enforce policies and you need to be polite with your customers. I actually appreciate that you let me in. Thank you. read more

The French Toast dishes were the standout for us. I also really liked my Town of Saugus omelette with sourdough toast. The atmosphere was really cozy, and the service was really great, too. Had a horrible experience with older waitress on July 5th around 9AM. Accused me of "ripping her off" and not leaving a tip. Bill was $13.19, and I told her I had a $100 bill or a ten and 2 fives. Gave her the $20 and asked for $2 back ($4.81 tip).So she gave me $2 back and left the table as I finished coffee. As I got up to leave she walked over and said, "You ripped me off, and I lost money ". How I asked her. You gave me $15 and asked for $2 back I said no and asked why she would give money that he didn't owe me - she just said " you did it and ripped me off and left me no tip". I came during the week so I'm not sure if it gets obnoxiously busy but it definitely was full. Service was actually really fast, really attentive on refills and how everything was going. With Easter around the corner, it was decorated for the holiday with easter eggs and streamers, it was so cute! Food.. wow. Just wow. I had one of the seasonal specials (Bailey's French Toast with Toasted Almonds).. I don't even like nuts and it was AMAZING. This place gets super packed on weekends so don't expect a quiet diner here! Very lively atmosphere with very good service. I got the two eggs with corned beef hash and I thought it was pretty standard, nothing ground breaking. The home fries were a lot better than other places I've been to - there were some crunchy fried parts which I devoured! I also got a breakfast special: Cinnabon french toast. These were super delightful and tasted just like a cinnabon, with the actual french toast tasting exactly like the delicious core of a cinnamon roll. Perfect! read more

This place was our go to diner. Until it was bought out by new owners. I went with my family last week on my visit from Miami. When I walked in the hostess asked how many. I said three. She then asked if the whole party was there, and I said just waiting on one brother. It was quiet with plenty of open tables and she would not seat us until my brother arrived. I asked if we could sit, have coffee and order. She rudely replied no. I sure do miss the previous owners and my family will not be visiting this place again. They even charge you for toast. 3 Adults came to $110.00 We asked for the reciept and waitrss goes, "oh everything is computerized and I can't give you a bill, just sign this little black device". This place is your average American diner. I don't really understand why the line and wait is so long. Waited in their freezing foyer for an hour and even when the majority of our party was there, they refused to give us the table they called us for. Have been here three times and I think I only liked the food once. Their steak tips are pretty good but the sides are meh. I visited the diner for the 3rd time the other day. We are always greeted nicely. Very friendly there. We were not able to get a booth but a table was ok. The St. Patrick's Day decorations were extremely festive! And the trees with the white bulbs. I ordered a Chefs salad for the first time and informed them of my food allergy and they were concerned. (Many places don't care but they did). We were happy with the portions and I took half of it home because it was so huge. Reasonably priced too. The only downside to this diner is the hours. This is a perfect breakfast spot. I've been twice now, and it's a friendly hometown atmosphere with excellent food. Fluffy pancakes, excellent scali toast (weird to say, but it really is!), real maple syrup, and fresh squeezed orange juice from an onsite machine. You're better than average dinner. Love the variety of pancakes. I've been here several times and they never disappoint. They're always very busy and often times has a wait (during rush hour) but the staff is always friendly and efficient. I have a big sweet tooth but I found red velvet cupcakes too sweet likely due to the white chocolate chips in the pancakes. My chicken and waffles satisfied my cravings but it was average dish. It was a rendition of saucy chicken tenders which were tasty over a plain waffle. This place offers your average breakfast fare but done better than most. They also have a variety of pancake which I enjoy such as fruity pebbles or cinabon, and they come in big portions to share! They also have a large lunch menu which I have not tried. read more

Found this place just before Covid hit. I grew up in Saugus and was surprised when visiting my mom and took her out to breakfast here. Family owned - named after Saugus having the first iron works in America. Food was great and the mother of the owner was walking through the dining room checking on everyone's food and to make sure that you were enjoying themselves. This is so disgusting as the plate is already 14.00 and my dad has a medical condition where he isn't eating as much so he only had a few bites of food . Waitress came to tell my mom next time she would have to pay 3.00 extra for sharing the plate.
