Ironwood recently adjusted their menu where prices doubled, portions decreased AND they revamped their menu removing all of my favorites. The New vs Old menu is posted below. Starters were once $8-12 and now $20+. Sides were once $5.50 and now $10. My favorite, filet mignon with shrimp was a $29.95 special which has been replaced with filet mignon, lobster, salad and desert for $65. I also used to love their chicken breast on a plate of veggies and mashed postatos for $22. Chicken Parmesean and Pasta is the closest comparison and it is now $32 for that meal. Casino steakhouses are a hit or miss; this one is a hit times 20. The food is impeccable and the chef and staff some of the friendliest. We ordered the short ribs to share. The portion was large, with the sauce on top being a perfect accompaniment. It's hit or miss. I would recommend this place for margaritas because the bartender makes a good one! As for food.. We went months before and the steaks/prime rib were excellent. This time, we had prime rib and it was fine but came out cold. My husband had scallops and said they were ok.. Also came out cold. The steamed spinach was bland and creamed corn, which had pieces of bacon in it, was ok. I will say the food portions are generous. We shared a prime rib with a scallops add-on and multiple sides.. it was plenty. Service left something to be desired and there was a mandatory 25% gratuity for our large party. I had the filet mignon and was the best I've had in a long time. Also for chocolate lovers I recommend the lava cake paired with vanilla ice cream and fresh assortment of berries, delicious. It was time first time eating here. We made reservations for our anniversary and the placed looked great, pretty fancy shmancy. The service was nice and quick, it helped that we were one of 3 tables. Then, the food started coming. They started us out with some breads and butter. AMAZING. Next, the meatball appetizer which was pretty good. And then it for our main course. I got the NY steak and my wife the steak and lobster special. The Ny steak was rubber.. literally looked, felt, and tasted fake. And I my wife's angus was basically the same. She asked for a medium well and got a dry well done. Lastly, we got the cheesecake which honestly saved the night. We have eaten here several times before. Always had the filet. Yesterday I went for the veal piccata. Big mistake. The veal was over cooked and breaded which isn't necessary. Very disappointing. The primerib was excellent and my wife had the filet mignon which were both deeeeelicious! You have to try this steakhouse. You will not be disappointed. We had a reservation for a Friday night, party of 7. Table was ready upon arrival. Staff were all incredibly nice and accommodating. Steaks were great. Tomahawk steak and steak frites were cooked perfectly as ordered, juicy and tender. The thick ass slab of house bacon was intense but a table pleaser. Wedge and Caesar salad were delicious, plated beautifully and very large portions. Steak fries (frites plate) were plump and crisp, baked potato was big but could have been cooked a bit longer. Honestly did not care for the stuffed crab mushroom or bruschetta appetizers. They looked pretty but they were just... bland. I read on another review that it took awhile to receive the food. While the apps came out fast it did take awhile for the food. It wasn't as apparent because we were a larger party and were likely distracted in conversation. Actually tasted like it needed seasoning. This is a thin, 10 oz cut, I think select grade. The baked potato dwarfs it. Surprised they don't have at least choice or certified angus beef for the prime rib with all the high end steaks on the menu. My wife and I had dinner here tonight. Wow. Fernando, our server, was great. I started with house made bacon. Not bacon but a 6 oz. Slice of heaven. She had bacon wrapped shrimp ,with two sauces. The mustard Sauce was wonderful. Get this if you get nothing else. She then had Coc-a-vin. Again, well prepared and presentation was great. I had a fillet with asparagus. The steak was wonderful. As good as if I had made it at home. That is a good thing. We had a nice bottle of wine. Now we have waddled up to our room and the night is near done. Did I talk about the pecan pie? Damn. we go here once a month and now it seems there are new workers with sorry attitudes. I'm tired of hearing you need a reservation when you don't. I know a worker there at the casino and the new manager does not want to fill the restaurant up to much with customers because they are slow. I don't care. So, we went for a family member's birthday in November and the place was ok for being just outside of Yuma. Our food was good,but it took an hour to be served at our table. By the time our plates arrived, they were just warm. I had steak frites, my steak was ok,but a bit rough to chew. My fries were actually pretty good. The one thing I will is say, is that our server was being a little too friendly and it was a bit awkward to communicate with. They also served us a cake for courtesy,but it tasted like an Albertson's cake. COME ON!!! This is supposed to be a steakhouse and y'all can't make your own pastries. At least, heat the cake please. I've been coming here for a little over 2yrs. It's since changed management and chef's once or twice, but when you have a menu that's revamped twice a year, I guess it doesn't matter much who the executive chef happens to be. The meals and service have never been anything other than exceptional. Well, there was that one time where the steak was overcooked, but it was NYE, busy, and the dish was promptly replaced by the chef himself. Excellent service. This steakhouse is tucked away inside the Quechan casino. Its dim lit and perfect for a date night....or, in my case, whenever you feel like treating yourself to an awesome dinner. Oh, as for dress code, every time I go, I do it as a treat to myself, so I dress up...nothing too fancy, but still nice. With that said, this steakhouse is inside a casino that's in the middle of the desert just outside of Yuma. People go to the casino in jeans and flip flops...then make their way to the steakhouse, as do local contractors on their way home from work. So, take that info and do what works for you n_n This time around, I started off with their mushroom pan fry. Its basically a generous portion of sauteed, wild mushrooms topped off with fresh, diced tomatoes, avocado, and cilantro. Perfectly accompanied by the bread basket that's provided. Next up, I ordered their 16oz, bone-in ribeye -- med rare, because its amazing that way. Side dish? I took Dana's (my bartender/server) suggestion and ordered the mac n cheese. Super rich and decandent. I was checked on several times during my meal, but never felt annoyed by it, in fact, I felt appreciative of their attentiveness and willingness to please. Because I sat at the bar, they even obliged my request to put on the ball game (Go Dodgers!) Dessert? Sure, they had a few options, but unless its a housemade dessert, them I'm not really interested (as is, I lack a sweet toof). Anyway, I opted to end my meal with an espresso, followed by black coffee with a shot of Maker's and topped off with Rumchata because that's liquid dessert right there. My tab? just shy of $90, but that included my appetizer, steak, mac n cheese, 3 glasses of wine, espresso, and my dessert coffee concoction....oh, and enough leftovers to make myself another two meals! Don't let the $$$ scare you. During summer, they have a 3 course meal from Wed-Sun, 5pm-630pm that includes Soup of the day, entree, and dessert for $20...all from the chef's menu picks. Not too shabby....sure as hell beats the gross buffet next door. Beware of THAT place. Moral of my review: Treat yourself and dish out a few extra bucks....IronWood is definitely worth it. read more
